Super Sixteen Review

The first season of the multinational Super Sixteen league has finished, with Gwinevra Saints of Apox finishing as the victors, claiming their second rugby title. Licentian clubs, Colesham City Blues and Islanders finished very respectably in 2nd and 3rd, while the other new clubs struggled somewhat to find their feet, as they finished 12th, 13th, 14th and 16th.

Preview

Issington F.C returned to the top last season, with a first Apoxian double after they won the Marshall Cup as well. Below them Dwile Warriors and Gwinevra Barbarians will be hungering for the big time, while new footballing force FC Endeavour will be hungering for a trophy, as will Urbanista as they seek to end their trophy drought. The top flight has expanded to 14 teams for this season, as part of the league expansion going on, therefore 26 games will be played throughout the season instead of 22. Combined with Apox improving internationally, and gaining a second Champion's Cup spot, the league has become even more exciting as a team doesn't even have to win to reach the CC this season. The teams comprising of the top flight this season are:

Issington F.C
Dwile Warriors
Gwinevra Barbarians
FC Endeavour
Urbanista
Wrexton F.C
Barbury Town
Wye United
Urbanista Trojans
FC Brimstone
Exton F.C
Sunshine Athletic
Mandon United
Egloskerry

ANL2

The second tier of Apoxian football has contracted in size, down to 14 teams, with the title favourites being Mona A.F.C, Miners '47 and Mulhampstead. The league clubs voted 11 for and 3 against in favour of stopping teams from competing in the SBCC as for promoted teams it greatly increases the risk of players being tired and therefore an increased relegation risk. For those teams in the SBCC who didn't gain promotion, the added games tends to minimise the chances of being promoted. The league did however vote for some form of post season, so the top team is automatically promoted to the Apox National League, while teams who finished 2nd, 3rd, 4th and 13th in the ANL, will have a play-off to see who gains the final spot in the top tier.

The same system is happening for relegation/promotion between the two tiers, described in more detail below. Here are the teams who will be taking part in the second tier this season.

Mona A.F.C
Cierbana United
Lighthouse Coves
Gwinevra Bulls
Barbury F.C
Miners '47
Gurdle A.F.C
Atletico Standard
Bouldertown
Southtown
Old Licentians
Mulhampstead
Celts
St George's Creek

ANL3

And here it is, a brand new tier of Apoxian football. Like the other two leagues, it is comprised of 14 teams, although most aren't actually from Apox. The top team is automatically promoted to the second tier, whilst the three below it take part in a promotion play-off against the second worst team in the ANL2, with the winner of that taking the final spot in the second tier. The teams for this comprise of the 7 remaining Old Guard teams, as well a a new one. Flotsam and Jetsam, while Frewick F.C are relegated to this division, and Outer Suburbia return to play in this league. The new teams, are FC Harpoon, Urbanista Young Boys (formed by Jon Quillisi, as a youth proving ground), Docklands United (a fine old team, recently reformed) and Kepler FC. Here is the full list of teams taking part in the third tier of Apoxian football next season:

Outer Suburbia
Frewick F.C
Moscva 2k12
Oldem Gents Club
Old Guard Regiment
TP Indians
The Dambusters
Hudd Roves
Don't Panic FC
FC Harpoon
Urbanista Young Boys
Docklands United
Flotsam and Jetsam
Kepler United

Marshall Cup

With the expansion of the league system, the Marshall Cup has had to expand accordingly. A new round has been added, with the all the Division 3 teams as well as the six lowest teams from Division Two taking part in the First Round. The ten winners of this round then join the the remaining 22 team to make a 32 team second Round, at quite point the standard knock-out system applies.

Part One

The biggest league in Apox is back, and it's larger (literally) and better than ever before. How will the teams do in the first quarter of the season? Will the same old names be at the top, or will there be new ones contesting for glory?

Below, the games in red were broadcast on APXSports, and the games in blue were broadcast on Channel 1.

Matchday 1
Dwile Warriors 2–1 Urbanista Trojans
Issington F.C 2–3 FC Endeavour
Barbury Town 2–2 Mandon United
Wrexton F.C 2–0 Sunshine Athletic
Urbanista 3–2 Egloskerry
Exton F.C 0–1 Wye United
FC Brimstone 0–2 Gwinevra Barbarians

Issington start their title defense poorly, losing at home to a strong but not better FC Endeavour side, Nikita Pirinen's late goal handing them the win. No such concerns for the Warriors, who play with intent, similar stories at Urbanista and Gwinevra Barbarians. Barbury Town and Mandon United share a thrilling 2-2 draw, which sees Maxim Kolo and Namine Nagatomo score for the Towne.

Matchday 2
Urbanista Trojans 3–4 Gwinevra Barbarians
Wye United 0–0 FC Brimstone
Egloskerry 1–0 Exton F.C
Sunshine Athletic 4–1 Urbanista
Mandon United 2–1 Wrexton F.C
FC Endeavour 3–2 Barbury Town
Dwile Warriors 2–1 Issington F.C

It only gets worse for Issington, who lose a key match to Dwile Warriors, as they look to already be stuttering in their title defense. Gwinevra Barbarians narrowly beat a surprisingly good Urbanista Trojans side, long time key scorer Rancisc Tenian required to score two there. FC Endeavour continue their good start, beating a highly competant Barbury side. The biggest shock is Sunshine Athletic's confident 4-1 win over Urbanista, with the young Tolgus Tregajorran scoring two exquisite goals - he looks like a bright prospect for the future.

Matchday 3
Issington F.C 3–2 Urbanista Trojans
Barbury Town 1–2 Dwile Warriors
Wrexton F.C 2–1 FC Endeavour
Urbanista 1–2 Mandon United
Exton F.C 1–1 Sunshine Athletic
FC Brimstone 1–0 Egloskerry
Gwinevra Barbarians 2–1 Wye United

FC Brimstone manage to score a goal, with Hamrah Anzalichi scoring a great score, as FC Brimstone book their first win. Dwile Warriors continue their fantastic run of form, with a 2-1 away win over Barbury Town. Issington finally get their season on track, with a 3-2 win over Urbanista Trojans, with Chris Maarsden netting whilst looking in fine form. Wrexton upset FC Endeavour, with Ashrav Bilotti and Oliver Donliver scoring.

Marshall Cup 1st Round
Atletico Standard 0–1 Miners '47
Oldem Gents Club 0–1 Don't Panic FC
Moscva 2k12 0–2 St George's Creek
Cierbana United 1–0 Southtown
Kepler United 1–2 Hudd Rovers
TP Indians 0–2 Old Licentians
Outer Suburbia 1–0 Frewick F.C
The Dambusters 1–0 Docklands United
Urbanista Young Boys 2–0 FC Harpoon
Old Guard Regiment 2–0 Flotsam and Jetsam

And so the bottom 20 teams of the Apoxian League system are halved, and the 10 winners get to join the big boys in the second round. A lot of boring 1-0 and 2-0 games here and no games going to extra time rounds out quite a boring first round of the cup.

Matchday 4
Urbanista Trojans 1–1 Wye United
Egloskerry 3–3 Gwinevra Barbarians
Sunshine Athletic 1–0 FC Brimstone
Mandon United 2–1 Exton F.C
FC Endeavour 3–1 Urbanista
Dwile Warriors 5–2 Wrexton F.C
Issington F.C 1–3 Barbury Town

Dwile Warriors comfortably beat Wrexton F.C, maintaining their perfect record this season and with Keri Ularu having one of her best ever seasons, the Warriors look odds on at the moment to win it. FC Endeavour continue their fantastic run against Urbanista, new signing, Licentian international Alex Keir, scoring his first for the club. Going to another team who are struggling, Issington fail to get past quite an ordinary Barbury side at home, this is not the season they will be wanting. Gwinevra Barbarians draw with Egloskerry, two teams their who have done well in the past but find themselves struggling somewhat to reciprocate that again.

Matchday 5
Barbury Town 2–1 Urbanista Trojans
Wrexton F.C 0–1 Issington F.C
Urbanista 0–3 Dwile Warriors
Exton F.C 1–0 FC Endeavour
FC Brimstone 0–1 Mandon United
Gwinevra Barbarians 2–0 Sunshine Athletic
Wye United 2–2 Egloskerry

Exton F.C, one of the smaller club in the league manage to end FC Endeavour's good run, with club captain, Sammie Puskas scoring on this occasion. Gwinevra Barbarians are ease past Sunshine Athletic, who look quite lost without their young star, Tolgus Tregajorran on the pitch. Issington finally manage to win a second game, but it's an uneasy, desperate 1-0 win over Wrexton, with Artem Asp making the difference. The Warriors make it 5 out of 5, as they continue Urbanista's misery, they are now second bottom, only the Trojans are above them, they haven't won all season.

Marshall Cup 2nd Round
Barbury F.C 1–0 Mona A.F.C
Barbury Town 0–2 Wrexton F.C
Urbanista 1–1 Outer Suburbia (1–2 AET)
Gwinevra Bulls 0–2 Old Guard Regiment
The Dambusters 3–1 Urbanista Trojans
Miners '47 0–0 Celts (1–1 AET) (3–4 pen.)
FC Endeavour 4–0 Don't Panic FC
Egloskerry 1–1 Lighthouse Coves (1–1 AET) (4–5 pen.)
Issington F.C 0–2 Mandon United
St George's Creek 1–1 Dwile Warriors (1–2 AET)
Mulhampstead 3–0 Gurdle A.F.C
Sunshine Athletic 0–0 Cierbana United (1–1 AET) (4–2 pen.)
Exton F.C 1–0 Urbanista Young Boys
Gwinevra Barbarians 3–1 Old Licentians
Hudd Rovers 1–0 Wye United
FC Brimstone 2-0 Bouldertown

A few surprising results in there, last years winners Issington F.C tumble out to previous finalists Mandon United, while Urbanista's season is summed up with an extra time loss to third tier Outer Suburbia. Many Old Guard clubs do well, with Old Guard Regiment, The Dambusters and Hudd Rovers all through to the 3rd round.

Matchday 6
Urbanista Trojans 2–4 Egloskerry
Sunshine Athletic 4–0 Wye United
Mandon United 2–3 Gwinevra Barbarians
FC Endeavour 3–1 FC Brimstone
Dwile Warriors 2–3 Exton F.C
Issington F.C 3–3 Urbanista
Barbury Town 1–1 Wrexton F.C

Lots of goals, as Egloskerry beat Urbanista Trojans in a 6 goal thriller, while the young Tregajorran strikes twice in Sunshine Athletics emphatic victory over Wye. Exton F.C perform well to beat Dwile Warriors away from home, and end their impressive start to the season, while Issington F.C and Urbanista settle for a 3-3 draw that helps neither team.

Matchday 7
Wrexton F.C 1–0 Urbanista Trojans
Urbanista 6–2 Barbury Town
Exton F.C 1–1 Issington F.C
FC Brimstone 1–2 Dwile Warriors
Gwinevra Barbarians 0–1 FC Endeavour
Wye United 1–1 Mandon United
Egloskerry 1–2 Sunshine Athletic

Urbanista slot 6 past a hapless Barbury Town, prompting questions as to why they can play like that all the time. Issington are dramatically denied a win, after Pierre Benzilar's last minute equaliser sets up the draw. FC Endeavour beat Gwinevra Barbarians, making things quite tight at the top between the Warriors, Barbarians and FC Endeavour.

Dwile Warriors currently lead after 7 matchdays, having only dropped 3 points so far, with Gwinevra currently occupying the 2nd Champions Cup spot. FC Endeavour are comfortably 3rd, although it surprisingly it is Mandon and Sunshine Athletic who fill the remaining Globe Cup spots. Issington F.C are currently 9th, 10 points off first and in an extremely poor position to defend their title. Urbanista are worse, in 11th, though a run of good form would see them shoot up the table quickly. In the relegation fight, FC Brimstone are struggling for points so far, and currently have 4, whilst Urbanista Trojans look to be doing what the Bulls did last season, having picked up a single point this season. They already look likely to go down.

ANL2

Plenty of excitement in the second tier, as St George's Creek look to gain what is effectively a second promotion in as many seasons, they are currently surprised to find themselves top of the table, along with Southtown, who in recent years have looked more likely to move a league in the opposite direction. Gurdle A.F.C, Miners '47, Cierbana United and Celts are all set up to challenge for those promotion play-off spots. Down the other end, Lighthouse Coves and Old Licentians are currently in the relegation spots, Lighthouse Coves having a terrible season, while traditional mid-tablers Bouldertown hover just above the drop.

ANL3

In the brand new tier, Kepler United currently have a slim lead over Frewick F.C and Oldem Gents Club, surprising to see Frewick F.C near the top of a table for once! The final play-off spot is currently filled by TP Indians, although Urbanista Young Boys and Moscva 2k12 are close by. FC Harpoon are having a disappointing season so far, and they've got some ground to make to catch up with the front runners.

Apox County Cricket Trophy

After years of fraught discussions, desperate pleas for sponsorship, hastily organised friendlies, attempt to get people to watch and building a number of cricket grounds, the Apox County Cricket Trophy (First Class Cricket) is finally ready to take place, with discussions being finalised last season. Apox County Cricket Trophy

The results of the first ACCT season are over, and we have a winner, as Mountainshire wins in dramatic circumstances, with just a point separating them from The Broads in the end. They will go on to play the winner of Tyneala's TynealAir League Championship in the Cricket Challenge Shield to decide which team is the best in the multiverse this season. The second placed team, on this occasion, The Broads will take place in the Commonwealth Cup, which will be contested at the end of each season between the second placed team from the ACCT and an Old Guard National Team. Below is the full table:

County PD W D Tie L BP Points
Mountainshire 12 6 4 0 2 38 108 - Champions, CCS
The Broads 12 6 2 0 4 41 107 - Commonwealth Cup
Gwinshire 12 4 3 0 4 38 97
Olfa 12 3 6 0 4 32 77
Dwile 12 2 6 0 4 28 63
County Eisc 12 3 4 0 5 20 62
Westshire 12 1 7 0 4 28 59

Commonwealth Cup I
Old Guard bat first
Old Guard 403 (165.3 overs), 203/4d (65.4 overs)
The Broads 256 (69.3 overs), 277 (104.3 overs)
The Broads lose by 73 runs

Old Guard win the first edition, which was held in Barbury this time.

Part Two

Dwile Warriors are charging toward victory, with an enormous 30 points at the halfway stage. FC Endeavour are in the other Champions Cup spot, although they are also some way behind, with 25 points. Issington F.C have managed to pull some form together, but are still a distant 3rd, while Gwinevra Barbarians and surprise package Mandon United are in the final Globe Cup spots. Barbury Town and Urbanista are both arguable under performing, Urbanista especially so. The table is as tight as ever, with a mere 5 points separating 4th for 13th, with Urbanista Trojans flagging on 8 point, they look set to make the drop at this rate.

Below, the games in red were broadcast on APXSports, and the games in blue were broadcast on Channel 1.

Matchday 8
Urbanista Trojans 3–1 Sunshine Athletic
Mandon United 3–4 Egloskerry
FC Endeavour 0–1 Wye United
Dwile Warriors 2–0 Gwinevra Barbarians
Issington F.C 1–3 FC Brimstone
Barbury Town 1–1 Exton F.C
Wrexton F.C 0–1 Urbanista

Urbanista manage to win a game! It may only be a 1-0 victory over Wrexton, but all the same, a victory is a victory and manager Fred Garcia will be pleased for Eugeny Ivanov's strike. Dwile Warriors continue their run for seeming invincibility, beating the once mighty Gwinevra Barbarians at home. Issington have more trouble as they collapse to FC Brimstone at home, while Urbanista Trojans finally manage to win a game, beating Sunshine Athletic 3-1.

Mona A.F.C and Gwinevra Bulls are also in the play-offs spots for promotion to the top tier, although Gurdle A.F.C, Miners '47 and Cierbana United all linger close behind. Down the other end of the table, Lighthouse Cove's poor run continues as they find themselves in the relegation play-off spot, with Old Licentians in the automatic relegation spot.

Kepler United are behind only on Goal Difference, while Frewick F.C and TP Indians are in the play-off positions. The Old Guard team tend to be struggling, as the bottom 5 spots are all occupied by Guardian teams, with only 1 team in the play-offs.

ANL2

St George's Creek seem determined to achieve double promotion as it were, as they have re-taken the top spot from Mulhampstead, who are currently second. Celts and Lighthouse Coves are in the promotion play-off spots, while Barbury F.C, Atletico Standard and Gwinevra Bulls all hover just outside. Down the other end, Cierbana United and Old Licentian look vulnerable to end up in the relegation play-off and Southtown currently sit bottom, as they may becoem the first founding member of the ANL to drop into the third tier.

Kepler United are now top in the most changeable of the three leagues, though they are only one point behind Urbanista Young Boys and Frewick F.C, with a quartet of Old Guardian club close behind those three, all of them separated by only 3 points. Flotsam and Jetsam seem to be solidly sticking to their positions of being bottom of the league system.

Part Four

Below, the games in red were broadcast on APXSports, and the games in blue were broadcast on Channel 1.

Matchday 21
Sunshine Athletic 1–3 Urbanista Trojans
Egloskerry 4–1 Mandon United
Wye United 1–2 FC Endeavour
Gwinevra Barbarians 2–2 Dwile Warriors
FC Brimstone 2–2 Issington F.C
Exton F.C 2–1 Barbury Town
Urbanista 4–3 Wrexton F.C

As we enter the final straight of the season, there is an exciting mathday indeed, with Egloskerry thrashing Mandon United 4-1 at home, Oliver Guthrie and Joey Thompson the star performers. Dwile Warriors and Gwinevra Barbarians draw at the top, although they both look pretty safe at the moment, while Issington draw with FC Brimstone which is not needed for Issington, as delicately balanced as they are. FC Endeavour beat a tired looking Wye United, with Nikita Pirinen and Matthias Sindelar scoring. Urbanista need 4 goals to beat Wrexton, but they do due to the skill of Eugeny Ivanov.

Matchday 22
Urbanista Trojans 1–2 Urbanista
Wrexton F.C 0–1 Exton F.C
Barbury Town 0–0 FC Brimstone
Issington F.C 1–0 Gwinevra Barbarians
Dwile Warriors 1–0 Wye United
FC Endeavour 2–2 Egloskerry
Mandon United 2–0 Sunshine Athletic

Urbanista beat cross town rivals Urbanista Trojans in an exciting game, while Exton F.C grab another win, they look more and more safe by the day. Issington take a crucial win over Gwinevra Barbarians, although it is looking too late for them to retain their title now, they must focus on the second Champions Cup spot. Speaking of likely winners, Dwile Warriors trot out a seemingly routine win over Wye United, with Keri Ularu, who will almost definitely win the golden boot, scoring.

Matchday 23
Mandon United 0–2 Urbanista Trojans
Sunshine Athletic 3–2 FC Endeavour
Egloskerry 2–6 Dwile Warriors
Wye United 3–3 Issington F.C
Gwinevra Barbarians 3–0 Barbury Town
FC Brimstone 2–0 Wrexton F.C
Exton F.C 0–0 Urbanista

Dwile Warriors record yet another enormous win of the season, and they are now practically the winners, only Gwinevra Barbarians can catch them now, and that's if they don't score any more. Speaking of the Barbarians, they recorded a 3-0 win over Barbury, with goals coming from Tenian, Boroni and Lidgley. Sunshine Athletic beat a strong FC Endeavour side in a fantastic victory for the club - an one that keeps them safely in the league for another year.

Matchday 24
Urbanista Trojans 0–4 Exton F.C
Urbanista 2–2 FC Brimstone
Wrexton F.C 1–2 Gwinevra Barbarians
Barbury Town 2–0 Wye United
Issington F.C 2–0 Egloskerry
Dwile Warriors 4–3 Sunshine Athletic
FC Endeavour 5–1 Mandon United

They've done it! Sunshine Athletic were unable to repeat last weeks feat, and they lose to Dwile Warriors, meaning the Warriors have successfully claimed their 3rd ANL title after 4 years without silverware. FC Endeavour are still very much in the hunt for a Champions Cup spot though, and they've gone about it the right way, thrashing Mandon United 5-1 in a strong display. Barbury Town beat Wye, but will have to settle for another season of mediocrity as they float around the middle of the table.

Marshall Cup Semi-Finals
Wrexton F.C 1-0 Lighthouse Coves
Dwile Warriors 1-0 Gwinevra Barbarians

Another set of close results, as Wrexton F.C beat Lighthouse Coves, and the Warriors stay on course to record only the second double in Apoxian history.

Matchday 25
FC Endeavour 2–0 Urbanista Trojans
Mandon United 4–1 Dwile Warriors
Sunshine Athletic 0–0 Issington F.C
Egloskerry 3–1 Barbury Town
Wye United 1–0 Wrexton F.C
Gwinevra Barbarians 2–4 Urbanista
FC Brimstone 1–0 Exton F.C

Its the penultimate matchday of the season, and Urbanista Trojans look likely to go down, as they lose once again to FC Endeavour, 2-0. Mandon United spoil Dwile Warriors party, although they have quite a busy schedule and not much left to play for as it is. Issington continue the suspense with a 0-0 draw against Sunshine Athletic, while Urbanista take an enormous step towards UICA football next season by beating Gwinevra Barbarians, 4-2.

Matchday 26
Urbanista Trojans 4–5 FC Brimstone
Exton F.C 0–1 Gwinevra Barbarians
Urbanista 2–2 Wye United
Wrexton F.C 0–0 Egloskerry
Barbury Town 1–0 Sunshine Athletic
Issington F.C 2–0 Mandon United
Dwile Warriors 2–0 FC Endeavour

And that just about wraps up that, as Dwile Warriors finish in style, 2-0 over FC Endeavour to officially give them their third title. Gwinevra win to pip FC Endeavour to that second Champions Cup spot they've been guarding all season, and Issington win as well, meaning only two points separate 2nd and 4th in the end. Urbanista Trojans tried their best on the final day of the season, but their 5-4 loss to FC Brimstone really sums up their bitterly disappointing season. Wye United draw against Urbansita to guarantee that they don't have automatic promotion, but not they must face the tense agony of three more games of play-offs to fight for their place in the league next season.

ANL2

What a coup! Mulhampstead were leading nearly all the way through from the 18th matchday, only for Lighthouse Coves to sneak through on the final day and seize the title, claiming a first ever season in the top tier of Apoxian football. The three teams left to fight it out in the play-offs are Mulhampstead, Gwinevra Bulls and Barbury F.C. St George's Creek, who played so well earlier on in the season, missed out on a chance to go to the top tier on goal difference. Southtown become the first founding members of the ANL to be relegated to the bottom tier of Apoxian football, and Gurdle A.F.C will go into the P/R ANL2 to fight for a place in the second tier.

ANL3

This was the closest of the lot! Going into the final matchday, three teams were tied at the top on 40 points. In the end, it was Outer Suburbia who won out, winning their game, and ending with a positive goal difference of 18, beating Frewick F.C's goal difference of +11. Filling out the top 4, were Urbanista Young Boys and Oldem Gents Club who snuck in at the end. Moscva 2k12, who were 4th only 6 matches ago, suffered a total loss of form and they ended the season in 9th place. Flotsam and Jetsam determinedly took mantle of worst team in the system, wresting that from Frewick F.C.

Marshall Cup Final

Attendance: 70,239
Wrexton F.C 3-2 Dwile Warriors

And Wrexton have something to celebrate after an average season in the ANL! The scoring opened with Keri Ularu in the 12th minute for Dwile Warriors, before James Kary equalised for Wrexton in the 33rd minute. Katie Womble nearly scored in the 41st minute, but it wasn't to be, goalkeeper Travis Scott hitting it away. In the second half, Wrexton really pressed home an advantage, with captain Oliver Donliver scoring in the 60th minute, and then again in the 67th. It was all over really by that stage, until Agustin Caruzzo's goal in the 78th minute livened thing up, but Dwile were unable to make anything of it, and Wrexton have their first piece of silverware for a number of years.

Super Sixteen Review

It's the second season of the multinational rugby competition held between two neighbours separated only by the Licentian Channel; Apox and the Licentian Islands. After a tough season for the majority of Licentian clubs in their debut seasons, will they pick up the pace and surprise us all ?? Or will it be the same as last season, with an Apoxian club taking the title ?? Let's take a look and find out !!

- Super Sixteen Pld W D L PF PA PD Pts
1 Colesham City Blues 30 19 3 8 310 208 +102 79 CHAMPIONS, SEASOGS
2 Dwile Jerseys 30 19 2 9 491 319 +172 78 SEASOGS
3 Gwinevra Saints 30 18 1 11 439 361 +78 73 SEASOGS
4 Northern Urbanista 30 17 3 10 329 224 +105 71 SEASOGS
5 JK Memorial Squad 30 16 5 9 481 397 +84 69 SEASOGS

15 Farnworth Rugby Club 30 9 2 19 352 514 −162 38
16 Southern Urbanista 30 8 2 20 439 595 −156 34

It is an incredible season for one Licentian club, even if the others were still rubbish. Colesham City Blues take the title ahead of Dwile Jerseys, but are the only Licentian club to claim a spot in the Seasogs; the aforementioned Dwile, Gwinevra Saints, Northern Urbanista, JK Memorial Squad and Mandon Faithful represent Apox. The bottom end Licentian clubs, Carrington and Farnworth, despite poor seasons, avoiding propping up the Super Sixteen table; that dubious honour is awarded to Apoxian side Southern Urbanista.

Qualifiers from Apox (APX): Dwile Jerseys, Gwinevra Saints, Northern Urbanista, JK Memorial Squad, Mandon Faithful

Qualifier from the Licentian Islands (LCN): Colesham City Blues
This nation has now been reformed as the Licentian Isles. Please direct anything intended for me to that nation.

Apox County Cricket Trophy

And the second season of organised first class cricket in Apox is over! Mountainshire once again take the title, once again finishing close to The Broads who tried their best but couldn't quite pull out the win. There was little change in the top order standings, with Mountainshire, The Broads and Gwinshire all finishing in the same positions as last year, and good positions at that, showing that Apoxian cricket is currently best in the North of the country.

This season was troubled by a large number of draws, resulting in lower scores than in the previous season, Mountainshire, only winning 4 games in the end, but getting a large 40 bonus points to finish strongly. They will be our representative to the CCS against the winner of the Tynealan league next season, let's hope they do better than last time! The Commonwealth Cup against an Old Guard national team has been discontinued due a lack of interest in an already quite niche sport in Apox.

Season 2
County PD W D Tie L BP Points
Mountainshire 12 4 7 0 1 40 101 - Champions, CCS
The Broads 12 6 4 0 2 23 96

Dwile 12 2 5 0 5 21 56
Olfa 12 2 5 0 5 17 52

The first CCS resulted in a loss for Mountainshire who battled well but ultimately fell short against Pwentshore from Tyneala. Here is the squad which will face Hilshore in the next CCS.

ANL Season 9 - Preview

Well now, it's time for another season of action, as the ANL rumbles round for its 9th season. The league is now ranked Nth in the world, with 2 spots to the Champion's Cup, and the action seems to be as close as ever. Will Dwile Warriors retain their title, claiming a record 4th ANL victory? Or will Issington return to the top spot? Urbanista and FC Endeavour both have strong squads that could both be in with a chance of winning the their first titles. No-one else looks really set for challenging, with Gwinevra failing to add much to their squad, and the near-constant trio of Exton F.C, Barbury Town and FC Brimstone just not being good enough to challenge. Down the other end, will Wrexton F.C and Sunshine Athletic manage to maintain their places in the league? Wrexton have struggled to put together form for quite some time. And will the debuting Lighthouse Coves and Mulhampstead be able to stay up? They've both strengthened their squads since gaining promotion.

Transfers
Tolgus Tregajorran - Sunshine Athletic to Urbanista for £10,000,000
Matthias Sindelar - FC Endeavour to Monfort Wanderers (LCP) for £6,000,000

Teodor Kristoffersen (Cape Bastion) - University (CPB) to FC Endeavour for £3,000,000
Nick King (TIS) - Westonbirt City (TIS) to Urbanista for £2,750,000
Fran Gracie - Urbanista to FC Endeavour for £2,500,000
Mikel Araboa (Felix) - Santa Maria FC (Felix) to Mandon United for £1,200,000 (Transfer will take place mid-season)
Tom Olfa - FC Endeavour to Wrexton F.C for £1,000,000
Hari Astantin - Barbury Town to Real Azpikara (Baokoiyo) for £1,000,000

Miroslav Mizera (MYT) - Dytkiga (MYT) to Mulhampstead for £0 (Free Agent)
Septimus Johans (FRF) - Gwinevra Barbarians to Ferduaelle FC (FRF) for £0 (Free Agent)
Niko Ferz (AUD) - Wye United to Retired
Vagn Kislykh (PIS) - Dwile Warriors to Retired
Chris Maarsden - Issington F.C to Retired
Oliver Guthrie - Egloskerry to Retired
Pierre Benzilar - Exton F.C returned to Free Swiss States

Image
Dwile Warriors
Manager: Sam Frew; Captain: John Carpenter (CM); Key Player: Keri Ularu (ST)
Preview: Last seasons champions played cleverly, as their ageing squad propelled them to a third ANL title. However, they may struggle this season with the retirements of both Clive Dunne and Vagn Kislykh weakening their defense. They've brought in new recruits Olivier Toiviainen from Polar Islandstates, and Janine Cassandra from Free South Califas, and as ever Keri Ularu will be pivotal. I suspect Sam Frew has quite a rebuilding job on his hands here, so it may take a little while for Dwile to return to the top.
Last Season: Champions; Predicted: 3rd

Image
Gwinevra Barbarians
Manager: Petter Aurelias (PIS); Captain: Rancisc Tenian [FRF] (ST); Key Player: Wilfried Lidgley (DM)
Preview: Petter Aurelias has been brought in from Polar Islandstates to help steady the ship. He has got rid of the overhyped Septimus Johans who returns to Farfadillis but has not been able to bring in any new players, with the squad just not looking as star studded as it did a few seasons ago. The board know this, and will tolerate one poor season providing their still get UICA football of some kind and that the next is an improvement.
Last Season: 2nd; Predicted: 5th

Image
FC Endeavour
Manager: Dravid Scott; Captain: Hilary Mantel (DC); Key Player: Alex Keir [LCP] (ST)
Preview: FC Endeavour continue to bring in name after name, with Fran Gracie, Endellion the Hewn of Old Guard and Teodor Kristoffersen of Cape Bastion all joining the club this season, and hiring Apoxian legend Dravid Scott as manager. They've lost Matthias Sindelar to the Licentian Islands and the ageing Tom Olfa to Wrexton, so it really depends how well this team of merceneries gel as to whether they'll challenge for the title. I think it'll take them a season or two yet.
Last Season: 3rd; Predicted: 4th

Image
Issington F.C
Manager: John Grigia; Captain: Artem Asp [PIS] (ST); Key Player: Wim van Wildernis [AUD] (CAM)
Preview: Issington struggled to key apace with the rest of the league last season, eventually finished fourth, mainly due to the loss of key players Chris Maarsden and Jack Moses, but in Artem Asp of Polar Islandstates and Alessandro Delvecchio of Ossidiacqua they have two class strikers, as well as Athelstan Firth and Joe Frost (Apoxian internationals) in more defensive positions.
Last Season: 4th; Predicted: Champions

Image
Urbanista
Manager: Fred Garcia; Captain: Olim Benzari (RM); Key Player: Tolgus Tregajorran (ST)
Preview: This season the board have really released the funds for Urbanista, strengthening the defense by bringing in Thibault Renault from Saugeais and Nick King from The Inevitable Syndicate, not to mention breaking the Apoxian transfer record by bringing in the young star Tolgus Tregajorran from Sunshine Athletic. They've displaced some players to try and break even, but the expense will be worth it if they get Champions Cup football next season. And for the first time in the ANL, they look like real contenders for the title.
Last Season: 5th; Predicted: 2nd

Image
FC Brimstone
Manager: Sujiro Masafuta (NSI); Captain: Hamrah Anzalichi [FSC] (DM); Key Player: Isner (DC)
Preview: Brimstone managed a solid 6th place finish last season with the psychic manager Sujiro Masafuta at the helm. The only new addition for them is the Old Guardian star Richard of France, and Musafuta will be hoping that the young, and very talented Isner makes a difference for them.
Last Season: 6th; Predicted: 9th

Image
Egloskerry
Manager: Jackie Tanford; Captain: Johannes Whitecliff (RD); Key Player: Rook Harm [NSB] (DC)
Preview: Egloskerry just don't look like the same side since they were relegated by surprise 3 seasons ago. And it's not going to get easier for them, as their talisman, Oliver Guthrie, has retired, leaving them look pretty toothless up front, with only the young and developing Zoe Morriston and the average Sunbar McCoy as their attacking options now. It'll be a struggle for them this season.
Last Season: 7th; Predicted: 11th

Image
Mandon United
Manager: Gavin Hughes; Captain: Fred Barnett (ST); Key Player: Arcon Santana (LM)
Preview: The combination of Gavin Hughes and Fred Barnett should continue to hold this season, they both arrived at the club at the same time and since them it's rocketed up the leagues. Xavier Merlow has joined from Baokoiyo and Mikel Araboa will arrive midseason to help out Barnett up front. They should finish comfortably midtable.
Last Season: 8th; Predicted: 7th

Image
Exton F.C
Manager: Chardon Hules (EAR); Captain: Sammie Puskas (LM); Key Player: Martin Roskorwell (ST)
Preview: Exton are an example of a club doing well on very little funding, as a smaller club. They've got a very promising youth line-up, which I believe will be challenging for UICA places in a few seasons time. Martin Roskorwell is now flourishing as a forward, and youngsters Fred Rickwright and Ricardo Carvalho are very promising prospects. Captain Sammie Puskas is a dominant force, which is shown by her call-up to the national side.
Last Season: 9th; Predicted: 8th

Image
Barbury Town
Manager: Ken Rickwright; Captain: Namine Nagatomo [NSI] (ST); Key Player: Jack Lerryn (RD)
Preview: Barbury have struggled somewhat in recent years, but Ken Rickwright has had a season to gel the team together, and I think they'll be challenging for UICA spots this season. THey've got some good players, with Maxim Kolo and Ikkon Karrkka both representing their national sides, as well as team captain, Namine Nagatomo who continues to shine. Jooles the Sophisicated was an interesting buy, but he'll inject energy into the midfield.
Last Season: 10th; Predicted: 6th

Image
Sunshine Athletic
Manager: Stan Miller; Captain: Claud Mikele (DC); Key Player: Samphis Oaken (GK)
Preview: Stan Miller will struggle this season at Sunshine, as they have lost their young star Tolgus Tregajorran after Urbanista came in with an offer that they couldn't refuse. However, that money hasn't really been spent on everything much to the annoyance of the fans, and therefore it will be hard to see them avoid relegation this season.
Last Season: 11th; Predicted: 13th

Image
Wrexton F.C
Manager: Jacob Clevedon; Captain: Oliver Donliver (CM); Key Player: Ben Hatem (RD, LD)
Preview: Wrexton F.C have a hard time, they just can't find form after being real contenders in the early years of the ANL. They've brought in the ageing Tom Olfa and combined with Ashrav Bilotti they should have enough strike power to win games, but their defense is wobbly, with good defenders such as Ben Hatem, but less proven players such as Rudd Lykk and James Kary who struggle at this level.
Last Season: 12th; Predicted: 10th

Image
Lighthouse Coves
Manager: Lillita Corsby; Captain: Noel Amunsden (CM); Key Player: James Mitchell (RD)
Preview: In a way Lighthouse Coves were surprised to be promoted, despite having been at the top of the second tier for some time. However, they've lost their star, Ivo Trevowah, to Jan Mayen Islanders in the frozen north of the Polar Islandstates, and despite bringing in a few players, I think they'll struggle to stay up, their squad just doesn't look ready for this level.
Last Season: First, ANL2; Predicted: 14th

Image
Mulhampstead
Manager: Nelly Westworth; Captain: Telia Marshall (RD); Key Player: Adam Le Fondre (ST)
Preview: Mulhampstead have look ready to be promoted for some time, and their squad looks good for staying up this season. Forward Adam Le Fondre will be key, as will supporting players Jessop the Lean and Carla Millard. They've also brought in veteran Mytanar midfielder Miroslav Mizera to give them much needed experience in competitive leagues. I think they just about have enough to survive.
Last Season: Second, ANL2; Predicted: 12th

Image

The second division will probably carry on much as it usually does - being incredibly close, with a number of teams being right in contention for the top spot and automatic promotion. This is another season where there are no teams that stand out as being truly destined for the top flight so it will be an interesting battle. Now the league has two Old Guardian teams, will one of them manage promotion? Down the other end, it is hard to see Outer Suburbia not struggling, they will be the odds on favourites for relegation.

Teams Participating (teams in italics are Old Guardian)
Atletico Standard
Barbury F.C
Bouldertown
Celts
Cierbana United
Gwinevra Bulls
Miners '47 - Favourites
Mona A.F.C

Hopefully the third tier will be as exciting in its second season as it's first was. In a way, the third tier is slightly more clear cut than the second, but definitely not by much. Recently relegated Southtown and Frewick F.C will be the teams to watch, along with FC Harpoon. Hopefully some of the Old Guardian teams will be challenging for promotion, instead of floundering at the bottom, with Moscva 2k12 and TP Indians potentially being in with a shout.

ANL Season 9 - Part One

And so it all begin again, the most popular league in Apox starting again, with all of the usual drama and flair. Let's see how things are looking after a quarter of the season is complete.

Below, the games in red were broadcast on APXSports, and the games in blue were broadcast on Channel 1.

Matchday 1

Exton F.C 1–0 Mulhampstead
FC Brimstone 4–1 Mandon United
FC Endeavour 4–2 Lighthouse Coves
Gwinevra Barbarians 2–5 Issington F.C

The season kicks off with many of the big names playing each other, as Dwile Warriors and Urbanista share an unusually low-scoring 0-0 draw at the APX Sports Stadium, while in complete contrast, Issington F.C put 5 past Gwinevra, with Artem Asp, Alessandro Delvecchio and Lee Miller scoring the goals between them. FC Brimstone start their season off well, putting four past Mandon, something which FC Endeavour is also able to do as they ease past Lighthouse Coves to get their title campaign underway.

Matchday 2
Wrexton F.C 2–3 Issington F.C
Lighthouse Coves 2–2 Gwinevra Barbarians
Mandon United 2–3 FC Endeavour
Mulhampstead 1–0 FC Brimstone
Sunshine Athletic 0–1 Exton F.C
Urbanista 3–4 Egloskerry
Barbury Town 0–1 Dwile Warriors

Exton win their second game of the season, another 1-0 victory, as they are the most surprising team in the unbeaten club at the top of the table. Issington put three past Wrexton, while newcomers Lighthouse Coves hold past giants Gwinevra Barbarians to a draw in an eclectic atmosphere at the Cliff Road Stadium. Urbanista lose to Egloskerry in a high scoring game, as they battle their poor early season form as so often happens. Dwile Warriors, goal scoring powerhouse, have only got a one goal this season.

Matchday 3
Dwile Warriors 0–0 Wrexton F.C
Egloskerry 2–1 Barbury Town
Exton F.C 3–0 Urbanista
FC Brimstone 0–0 Sunshine Athletic
FC Endeavour 5–3 Mulhampstead
Gwinevra Barbarians 5–3 Mandon United
Issington F.C 3–1 Lighthouse Coves

Still the drive to get the early advantage continues, with Exton F.C, FC Endeavour and Issington F.C all having maximum points at this stage in the season. Exton F.C win spectacularly at home against Urbanista, Martin Roskorwell scoring twice, Chardon Hules looks like he's found a winning formula so far at Exton. FC Endeavour put 5 past Mulhampstead, with Alex Keir and Teodor Kristoffersen scoring the bulk of the goals between them. Wrexton F.C manage to hang on bravely away to draw with Dwile Warriors, the Warriors not looking nearly as potent as they did last season. Egloskerry manage to pull together some form to beat Barbury Town, who are wallowing in the lower depths of the table at the moment.

Matchday 4
Wrexton F.C 1–1 Lighthouse Coves
Mandon United 2–2 Issington F.C
Mulhampstead 1–1 Gwinevra Barbarians
Sunshine Athletic 0–0 FC Endeavour
Urbanista 7–2 FC Brimstone
Barbury Town 2–0 Exton F.C
Dwile Warriors 3–1 Egloskerry

The most exciting match of the week was of course the 9 goal thriller at Lime Ground, where Tolgus Tregajorran got his hat-trick and Eugeny Ivanov got a brace to boot. Dwile Warriors stayed in the UICA spots with a win over Egloskerry, Keri Ularu, Agustin Caruzzo and Olivier Toiviainen the scorers there. Issington F.C and FC Endeavour both draw to allow the rest of the league to catch up, and Exton F.C dream run finishes with a 2-0 loss to Barbury Town.

Exton F.C 1–2 Dwile Warriors
FC Brimstone 3–5 Barbury Town
FC Endeavour 2–3 Urbanista
Gwinevra Barbarians 1–1 Sunshine Athletic

Lighthouse Coves 2–1 Mandon United

Dwile Warriors win against the over-achieving Exton F.C, to put them 4th, while Urbanista continue their good run with a crucial win over FC Endeavour, with Tregajorran, Benzari and Quillisi scoring for Urbanista. Gwinevra Barbarians continue to struggle with a 1-1 draw against a relatively toothless Sunshine Athletic, while Issington F.C charge past Mulhampstead. Urbanista beat Issington to show that they are definitely a team in the ascendancy, having beaten everyone around the block recently. Dwile Warriors win against FC Endeavour, as the defending champions move back to being 1 point behind Issington at the top. Mandon win a second game on the trot, pummelling Mulhampstead to see them move up off the bottom spot, which is now occupied by Sunshine Athletic after their surprise loss to Lighthouse Coves. Gwinevra Barbarians rout Barbury Town who are moving closer and closer to relegation, while Gwinevra move up to the move respectable position of 6th with that win. All in all, it's looking very close once again.

In the second tier there are surprises as usual, with Bouldertown currently topping the table above Oldem Gents Club - neither of which would have been predicted there at the start of the season. Celts and Atletico Standard lurk in the play-off spots with St. George's Creek and Old Licentians also close by, but the reality is that anything could happen between now and the end of the season. Surprisingly, the bottom spots are inhabited by Barbury F.C, Miners '47 and Wye United, they'll be wanting to move up the table.

ANL Season 9 - Part Two

At the halfway stage of the season, it's still incredibly close and as exciting as always! Game on!

Below, the games in red were broadcast on APXSports, and the games in blue were broadcast on Channel 1.

Matchday 8
Wrexton F.C 1–0 Mulhampstead
Sunshine Athletic 1–2 Mandon United
Urbanista 1–0 Lighthouse Coves
Barbury Town 1–2 Issington F.C
Dwile Warriors 2–2 Gwinevra Barbarians
Egloskerry 3–3 FC Endeavour
Exton F.C 3–0 FC Brimstone

Wrexton F.C beat Mulhampstead and find themselves 9th - they've been studiously avoiding the relegation zones so far this campaign. Urbanista win narrowly over Lighthouse Coves, Tolgus Tregajorran's goal once again being the difference. Dwile Warriors and Gwinevra Barbarians, the two historic greats from a couple of seasons ago share a draw, summing up that fact that neither of them look likely to win the title this season. The current team in the top spot, Issington F.C beat Barbury away, goals coming from Artem Asp and Wim van Wildernis.

Matchday 9
FC Brimstone 0–0 Wrexton F.C
FC Endeavour 2–0 Exton F.C
Gwinevra Barbarians 5–5 Egloskerry
Issington F.C 3–1 Dwile Warriors
Lighthouse Coves 0–1 Barbury Town
Mandon United 4–4 Urbanista
Mulhampstead 2–0 Sunshine Athletic

So many high scoring draws! First Urbanista draw with Mandon United, both teams scoring 4 apiece, before Gwinevra and Egloskerry share 10 goals in an epic game for the attackers and a frankly dismal game for defense. However, Issington march on, beating Dwile 3-1, and now creating a 5 point cushion over Urbanista and FC Endeavour at the top. The table is looking incredibly close now, only two points separate 5th from 11th.

Matchday 10
Wrexton F.C 2–0 Sunshine Athletic
Urbanista 3–1 Mulhampstead
Barbury Town 2–1 Mandon United
Dwile Warriors 1–0 Lighthouse Coves
Egloskerry 2–4 Issington F.C
Exton F.C 0–0 Gwinevra Barbarians
FC Brimstone 2–0 FC Endeavour

Urbanista continue to hold 2nd place with a 3-1 win over Mulhampstead, while Dwile sneak into second by narrowly beating Lighthouse Coves - a side that has down quite well, even if that means not following the example of Gwinevra Bulls and Urbanista Trojans in recent years and failing miserably, even if they are still in the relegation play-off spot. Wrexton beat Sunshine Athletic, Tom Olfa and Oliver Donliver scoring to push them into 5th - they've been having a good season so far.

Matchday 11
FC Endeavour 3–0 Wrexton F.C
Gwinevra Barbarians 1–1 FC Brimstone
Issington F.C 1–0 Exton F.C
Lighthouse Coves 1–0 Egloskerry
Mandon United 0–1 Dwile Warriors
Mulhampstead 2–3 Barbury Town
Sunshine Athletic 1–2 Urbanista

FC Endeavour collaborate brilliantly to beat Wrexton 3-0, with Alex Keir, Teodor Kristoffersen and Fran Gracie all scoring the goals. Due to their loss, Wrexton slip down to 6th, and Barbury are now occupying the 5th position after their victory over Mulhampstead. Exton lose again, their good start fading, while Urbanista keep pace with Issington by beating Sunshine Athletic 2-1, Tregajorran scoring against his club from last season.

Marshall Cup Third Round
Barbury Town 2-2 FC Harpoon (2-2 AET, 4-3 PKs)
Issington F.C 3-1 Urbanista
FC Brimstone 0-0 Lighthouse Coves (0-0 AET, 2-1 PKs)
Cierbana United 2-2 FC Endeavour (2-3 AET)
Urbanista Trojans 0-2 Oldem Gents Club
Exton F.C 2-2 Mulhampstead (3-2 AET)
St George's Creek 1-1 Wrexton F.C (1-1 AET, 3-1 PKs)
Atletico Standard 1-2 Barbury F.C

And the excitement of the Marshall Cup continues, with 5 out of 8 games going through to extra time, and 3 of those going onto penalties. The biggest surprises are both Guardian clubs still in progress to the Quarter-Finals, something of a record there, while Urbanista go out to Issington F.C, who are in fine form at the moment.

Matchday 12
Wrexton F.C 0–1 Urbanista
Barbury Town 2–1 Sunshine Athletic
Dwile Warriors 3–3 Mulhampstead
Egloskerry 4–4 Mandon United
Exton F.C 2–1 Lighthouse Coves
FC Brimstone 3–4 Issington F.C
FC Endeavour 2–4 Gwinevra Barbarians

Barbury Town manage to hang on to their UICA place spot though Gwinevra manage to beat FC Endeavour to draw close. Issington F.C and Urbanista both win, their both pulling away at the top, Issington have dropped just 5 points so far this season, astonishing! Exton F.C return to winning ways with a victory over lowly Lighthouse Coves, Martin Roskorwell and Ricardo Carvalho with the goals there.

Matchday 13
Gwinevra Barbarians 3–4 Wrexton F.C
Issington F.C 3–3 FC Endeavour
Lighthouse Coves 1–2 FC Brimstone
Mandon United 2–1 Exton F.C
Mulhampstead 1–2 Egloskerry
Sunshine Athletic 3–2 Dwile Warriors
Urbanista 5–1 Barbury Town

Urbanista romp to victory over Barbury Town, putting 5 past them, while Wrexton F.C beat Gwinevra in a high scoring encounter, to put Wrexton 6th and Gwinevra suffer the indignity of being 7th at the halfway stage. Issington finally slip up, off sorts, drawing 3-3 with FC Endeavour, the gap at the top closing to 3 points. At the bottom, it is Sunshine Athletic, Lighthouse Coves and Mulhampstead all fighting it out, with Mandon United having a 4 points cushion to give them a bit of breathing room.

No Club Pld W D L GF GA GD Pts

And now it is Celts who take the lead in the second division, though it is a narrow one with St George's Creek, Atletico Standard and Bouldertown all behind in the play-off spots. Down the other end, Cierbana United, Outer Suburbia and Barbury F.C are all equal on 13 points, so it's very close there as well.

Hudd Rovers still remarkably have the lead in the third tier, though Old Guard Regiment are quite close behind at the moment, as are Southtown and Urbanista Young Boys. It truth, anyone in the top half of the table is still in with a shout, and it's very close until you reach the bottom, where Don't Panic FC currently have a 4 point gap behind the Flotsam and Jetsam.

ANL Season 9 - Part Three

Below, the games in red were broadcast on APXSports, and the games in blue were broadcast on Channel 1.

Matchday 14
Wrexton F.C 0–1 Barbury Town
Urbanista 3–0 Dwile Warriors
Sunshine Athletic 0–0 Egloskerry
Mulhampstead 1–2 Exton F.C
Mandon United 1–3 FC Brimstone
Lighthouse Coves 2–3 FC Endeavour
Issington F.C 2–4 Gwinevra Barbarians

Issington F.C lose for just the second time this season against Gwinevra Barbarians, with the Barbarians regaining some composure through a Rancisc Tenian hat-trick with Charlie Boroni scoring as well. Issington's slip up allows Urbanista to take the lead after they win a crucial match against Dwile Warriors, the formidable strike partnership of Tolgus Tregajorran and Eugeny Ivanov once again demolishing their opposition. Barbury Town beat Wrexton F.C to maintain their 5th placed position, while FC Endeavour narrowly beat Lighthouse Coves with goals from Keir, Redwood and Gracie.

Matchday 15
Issington F.C 2–0 Wrexton F.C
Gwinevra Barbarians 5–2 Lighthouse Coves
FC Endeavour 4–4 Mandon United
FC Brimstone 1–2 Mulhampstead
Exton F.C 3–0 Sunshine Athletic
Egloskerry 0–3 Urbanista
Dwile Warriors 3–0 Barbury Town

Urbanista and Issington both continue to win, both emphatically and both keeping clean sheets. FC Endeavour and Mandon United draw in a thrilling 8 goal encounter for the ages, while Sunshine Athletic beat Exton F.C, as Exton move into 6th place following the loss of Barbury to the Warriors, with Ularu scoring a brace along with Olivier Toiviainen to win 3-0 there.

Matchday 16
Wrexton F.C 0–1 Dwile Warriors
Barbury Town 3–0 Egloskerry
Urbanista 4–2 Exton F.C
Sunshine Athletic 1–0 FC Brimstone
Mulhampstead 0–1 FC Endeavour
Mandon United 2–3 Gwinevra Barbarians
Lighthouse Coves 0–3 Issington F.C

And still Urbanista and Issington keep pace with each other, Issington beating Lighthouse Coves 3-0, to put the people from the Coves into the bottom spot. Urbanista beat a plucky Exton side in a closer battle than the 4-2 scoreline suggests, Sammie Puskas scoring both for Exton in her best season for the side yet. FC Endeavour beat Mulhampstead 1-0, but they still lie some way off the top spots, their title hopes nearly shattered now.

Matchday 17
Lighthouse Coves 0–1 Wrexton F.C
Issington F.C 2–1 Mandon United
Gwinevra Barbarians 1–0 Mulhampstead
FC Endeavour 0–0 Sunshine Athletic
FC Brimstone 2–5 Urbanista
Exton F.C 0–0 Barbury Town
Egloskerry 0–2 Dwile Warriors

And still Urbanista and Issington keep pace with each other, both winning yet again. I reckon the record point total is going to be surpassed this season, the rate these two are going. Gwinevra Barbarians stay in 5th place, which is the best they can realistically hope for this season with a 1-0 win over Mulhampstead, Xav the Fast scoring. Dwile Warriors beat Egloskerry, with the latter sinking dangerously close to the relegation spots.

Marshall Cup Quarter Finals
Barbury Town 0-2 Issington F.C
FC Brimstone 1-2 FC Endeavour
Oldem Gents Club 0-2 Exton F.C

St George's Creek 1-1 Barbury F.C (1-1 AET, 2-0 PKs)

And the competition really heats up at this point, with Issington F.C blasting Barbury Town out of the way to book another spot in the semi-finals, where they will face FC Endeavour, a team who are on the up in Apoxian football. Exton F.C and St George's Creek book their places in the other semi-final, with St George's Creek managing to go one further than Oldem Gents Club and Old Guard Regiment and book their place to a semi-final.

Matchday 18
Wrexton F.C 3–1 Egloskerry
Dwile Warriors 4–3 Exton F.C
Barbury Town 4–1 FC Brimstone
Urbanista 3–3 FC Endeavour
Sunshine Athletic 0–0 Gwinevra Barbarians
Mulhampstead 0–0 Issington F.C
Mandon United 4–2 Lighthouse Coves

Returning back to league action, Wrexton F.C beat Egloskerry as Wrexton maintain their comfortable mid-table league position - it doesn't look like there will be any surprise UICA action for them this season. Issington and Urbanista keep pace with each other yet again, although this time they both draw, with a boring 0-0 draw for Issington and an exciting as usual 3-3 draw for Urbanista.

Matchday 19
Mandon United 2–1 Wrexton F.C
Lighthouse Coves 1–2 Mulhampstead
Issington F.C 1–0 Sunshine Athletic
Gwinevra Barbarians 3–3 Urbanista
FC Endeavour 3–3 Barbury Town
FC Brimstone 2–1 Dwile Warriors
Exton F.C 1–0 Egloskerry

It had to give sometime, and finally Urbanista drew 3-3 for the second week in a row, with Gwinevra Barbarian this time, while Issington F.C beat Sunshine Athletic courtesy of a late Artem Asp penalty. FC Brimstone play out of their skin to beat Dwile Warriors at home, Janus Mumford and Richard of France being the scorers here. Barbury Town draw as well, the fight for the 5th UICA spots is heating up with Gwinevra, Barbury and Exton all potentially being in the running.

Matchday 20
Wrexton F.C 0–1 Exton F.C
Egloskerry 3–5 FC Brimstone
Dwile Warriors 1–1 FC Endeavour
Barbury Town 3–2 Gwinevra Barbarians
Urbanista 0–1 Issington F.C
Sunshine Athletic 2–0 Lighthouse Coves
Mulhampstead 3–1 Mandon United

What a matchday! In a crucial potentially title deciding match, Urbanista lose to Issington F.C 1-0, with Anders Holzhauser scoring the winner, stretching the gap at the top to 5 points now. In another key match, Barbury Town beat Gwinevra Barbarians, moving Barbury into 4th place following FC Endeavour's draw with Dwile Warriors. Down the other end, Sunshine Athletic put two past Lighthouse Coves in a relegation 6 pointer, meaning Athletic are now out of even the relegation play-offs, while Lighthouse Coves look firmly mired in bottom place. Egloskerry lose once again, meaning they drop into the relegation play-off spot, a disaster for them.

Surprises as usual in the second tier, as St George's Creek continue their good cup run with a good run of form in the league as well, they currently top the standings. Bouldertown, Oldem Gents Club and Celts are all currently in the play-offs, though Celts could potentially incur a 5 point deduction for going into administration should they actually go bankrupt. Most of the predicted potential title candidates lurk in the middle to lower part of the league, which is a surprise to everyone, while it is currently Barbury F.C and Outer Suburbia who are in the relegation spots, though Outer Suburbia draw on points with Mona A.F.C and Miners '47.

In the bottom league, Southtown and Gurdle A.F.C are both looking for an instant return to the second tier, they currently occupy the top two spots. Behind them are Old Gaurd Regiment and Moscva 2k12, with Frewick F.C just behind them. Hudd Rovers and FC Harpoon will both be disappointed, with the Rover falling from 1st to 6th, and preseason favourites FC Harpoon currently 8th. Down the other end it is the usual crowd of The Dambusters, Flotsam and Jetsam and Don't Panic FC occupying the bottom spots.

ANL Season 9 - Part Four

Below, the games in red were broadcast on APXSports, and the games in blue were broadcast on Channel 1.

Matchday 21
Mulhampstead 0–1 Wrexton F.C
Mandon United 2–0 Sunshine Athletic
Lighthouse Coves 4–2 Urbanista
Issington F.C 2–3 Barbury Town
Gwinevra Barbarians 3–4 Dwile Warriors
FC Endeavour 0–0 Egloskerry
FC Brimstone 1–0 Exton F.C

Issington slip up against Barbury, with Barbury winning a game for the ages there, leaving the opportunity open for Urbanista to gain some ground against them, but, quite remarkably, they lose to bottom placed side Lighthouse Coves 4-2 in a frankly incredulous result. Dwile Warriors beat Gwinevra in a high scoring battle between the "Auld Superiors", though neither team will be challenging for the title this time around. FC Brimstone win well against Exton, with Hamrah Anzalichi's strike being the inspiration there.

Matchday 22
Wrexton F.C 1–0 FC Brimstone
Exton F.C 0–0 FC Endeavour
Egloskerry 4–3 Gwinevra Barbarians
Dwile Warriors 2–1 Issington F.C
Barbury Town 3–1 Lighthouse Coves
Urbanista 1–0 Mandon United
Sunshine Athletic 3–2 Mulhampstead

Urbanista are now just two points off Issington, with a win over Mandon United, Eugeny Ivanov scoring there, Issington not having enough to beat Dwile Warriors away this time. Barbury confidently win against Lighthouse Coves, they're looking more and more like a side worthy of a UICA spot next season instead of just lucky. Egloskerry beat Gwinevra in a high scoring encounter, putting them joint 11th with Sunshine Athletic and Mulhampstead, the former's chances of staying up improving rapidly with a win over the latter.

Matchday 23
Sunshine Athletic 1–0 Wrexton F.C
Mulhampstead 3–4 Urbanista
Mandon United 2–1 Barbury Town
Lighthouse Coves 2–3 Dwile Warriors
Issington F.C 1–2 Egloskerry
Gwinevra Barbarians 1–0 Exton F.C
FC Endeavour 1–1 FC Brimstone

Urbanista makes hard work of beating Mulhampstead, but it has paid off, because they are now first again following Issington's surprising collapse of form, that's three games in a row they've now lost, incredible. Gwinevra Barbarians beat Exton, the goal coming from Rancisc Tenian to effectively end Exton's hopes of UICA football next season. FC Endeavour continue to struggle to win, with a draw against FC Brimstone, Nikita Pirinen and Janus Mumford scoring there.

Matchday 24
Wrexton F.C 0–1 FC Endeavour
FC Brimstone 0–0 Gwinevra Barbarians
Exton F.C 0–0 Issington F.C
Egloskerry 1–0 Lighthouse Coves
Dwile Warriors 3–3 Mandon United
Barbury Town 1–0 Mulhampstead
Urbanista 2–0 Sunshine Athletic

Issington finally manage to get some points on the board with a 0-0 draw against Exton, but the fans aren't happy, they know that Issington should have won by now. FC Endeavour beat a decidedly average Wrexton side, while Urbanista keep on winning, this time 2-0 against Sunshine Athletic. Barbury are still 4th though with a win over Mulhampstead. Lighthouse Coves are now confirmed as the automatic relegation team from the ANL with that loss to Egloskerry, they are 7 points adrift at the bottom.

Marshall Cup Semi-Finals
Issington F.C 1-1 FC Endeavour (3-1 AET)
Exton F.C 2-0 St George's Creek

And the excitement of the league is transferred for another, the semi-finals of the Cup. Issington F.C are through to their second Cup final although it took them right until extra time to cancel out Teodor Kristoffersen's equaliser for FC Endeavour. Exton F.C went through in a more straightforward fashion, beating St George's Creek 2-0, although there is hope for the Guardians from the Creek as they are the current favourites for promotion to the top league.

Matchday 25
Urbanista 1–1 Wrexton F.C
Sunshine Athletic 1–0 Barbury Town
Mulhampstead 0–1 Dwile Warriors
Mandon United 1–1 Egloskerry
Lighthouse Coves 2–0 Exton F.C
Issington F.C 3–2 FC Brimstone
Gwinevra Barbarians 2–2 FC Endeavour

Issington are right back in it with a 3-2 win over FC Brimstone following Urbanista's hiccup against Wrexton F.C. Urbanista's lead is now just a single point, it's all still to play for. Gwinevra Barbarians and FC Endeavour draw, which means the UICA qualifiers are now decided, Gwinevra are 4 points behind FC Endeavour in 5th with one match to play. Dwile Warriors win, as they continue to improve, they could still get Champions Cup football here. Lighthouse Coves win against Exton but they have little to play for now. Sunshine Athletic's win over Barbury means Mulhampstead are condemned to the relegation play-off, as they are now stuck in 13th place.

Matchday 26
Wrexton F.C 0–0 Gwinevra Barbarians
FC Endeavour 5–2 Issington F.C
FC Brimstone 1–0 Lighthouse Coves
Exton F.C 0–1 Mandon United
Egloskerry 1–3 Mulhampstead
Dwile Warriors 3–1 Sunshine Athletic
Barbury Town 4–5 Urbanista

And that's that. Urbanista beat Barbury to confirm that they are the new Apoxian champions, their first silverware for some time, mainly due to the goals and strike force of Tolgus Tregajorran and Eugeny Ivanov up front. Issington F.C lose, though it is irrelevant in the end due to Urbanista's win. They manage Champions Cup football even though after Dwile Warriors beat Sunshine Athletic, in the end coming short by just 1 goal on goal difference.

FC Endeavour's victory over Issington means that they take 4th and a better Globe Cup seeding, as a result of Barbury's loss to Urbanista, though Barbury are still rewarded with UICA football. Gwinevra end up in 6th despite drawing again, having the joint highest draw percentage along with FC Endeavour in the end, the board will be expecting improvements from Petter Aurelias next season though.

Mandon United had a good end to the season to finish 7th, which is a good step in the right direction for them, while FC Brimstone, Exton and Wrexton finish in the middle of the table, a disappointing season for all of them in the end. Egloskerry and Sunshine Athletic both manage to survive for another season, something both clubs will be pleased about.

And it is the two new clubs in the relegation positions, Lighthouse Coves going down automatically while Mulhampstead get to fight on for a chance to stay in the league in the promotion/relegation play-off.

In the second tier, it is St George's Creek who run out winners, in the end only on goal difference over Old Licentians, who will be facing Mulhampstead in the Promotion/Relegation Play-off along with Atletico Standard and Bouldertown. Celts go into administration, meaning they are docked 5 points, and meaning they finish 11th instead of 8th. Down the other end of the table, Barbury F.C are the surprise team relegated, while Gwinevra Bulls would be in the play-off spot, but they are spared that by the complete destruction of Outer Suburbia football club which folds throguh lack of funds and support. Therefore, the teams ranked 2nd to 4th in ANL3 will play for a place in the second tier, with a new club introduced to the third tier next season.

Marshall Cup Final

Attendance: 69,583
Issington F.C 2-0 Exton F.C

And it is Issington who win the Marshall Cup in the end, making up slightly for the heartbreak of not winning the league in such dramatic circumstances. It started off well for Issington, with Artem Asp scoring off a half volley in the 11th minute. Martin Roskorwell of Exton nearly managed to squeeze a goal in at the other end in the 30th minute in Exton's best attempt of the first half, but Joe Frost kept the ball out. In the second half, it was the double world cup winning Wim van Wildernis who scored the second goal, after being set up by young Polarian prodigy Anders Holzhauser to seal the match for Issington.

Super Sixteen Review

Before we look at the league results, we have a new competition to inform you of between the nations of Apox and The Licentian Isles. The Lockwood Cup has been initiated for the highest placing club from each of the top associations from the previous season to play a game to kick off the new season and decide which nation is the best (sort of). Named after George Lockwood, the most famous Apoxian rugby player, his fame nearing that of some footballers in Apox, who will be retiring at the end of the 4th season of the Super Sixteen. It will alternate between the two countries each season, with the cup being held in The Royal Stadium, Apox this year.

I: Colesham City Blues 7–0 Dwile Jerseys

Lockwood Cup I - held in the Royal Stadium, Apox
Colesham City Blues 7–0 Dwile Jerseys

Now moving to the third season of the Super Sixteen which has just finished, with yet more surprises for all involved, and new forces in rugby between the two nations rising to the fore. It was The Licentian Isles Islanders who won the title, meaning two Licentian teams have won the tournament in a row, following a late surge to win with a mammoth 90 points. This of course prompted much grumbling from the conservative elders of the Apoxian rugby world regarding Licentians not knowing there place etc etc etc, when in truth it is just that the Apoxian teams weren't good enough.

JK Memorial Squad also had a late surge to finish 2nd, maintaining their claim as the best Apoxian team around, despite not having won a title for 4 years, before the Super Sixteen had even been formed. Hudd Trolls and Dwile Jersey came next, the Trolls regaining their place in contention after a poor league showing last season. However, there were yet more surprises as Colesham City Blues and Celtic Warriors were in 5th and 6th position, meaning the Licentian Isles for the first time send the maximum number of clubs to Seasogs, though the Blues will be disappointed not to have won the a second title after leading for much of the season. Celtic Warriors just edged out Gwinevra Saints who will be disappointed by the lack of international competition, as will Northern Urbanista in 8th and Mandon Faithful in 11th.

However, it can only be good that the Licentian clubs are challenging for position now, as it will give the stagnating Apoxian rugby community the kick up the backside it needs to really improve, both domestically and internationally.

Apox County Cricket Trophy

The third season of the ACCT has now ended with an added twist, in that now the league now finishes with a short Twenty20 play-off games to determine which teams will enter the newly created Twenty20 Champions Cup. However, first of all, the regular First Class season must take place, before the top four teams play-off to enter the T20CC. Here are the results of the league, with quite a few surprises.

County PD W D L BP Points
Dwile 12 7 2 3 30 106 - Play-offs
County Eisc 12 5 5 2 28 93 - Play-offs
Moutainshire 12 6 4 2 16 87 - Play-offs
Olfa 12 4 5 3 26 81 - Play-offs

Gwinshire 12 4 2 5 31 77
The Broads 12 3 5 4 16 61
Westshire 12 2 0 10 10 30

And so it is Dwile this season who stun the league and beat all comers to win their first championship. County Eisc come second, while Mountainshire have a poor season by their standards, finishing 3rd. Olfa, widely considered to have the least quality in their squad somehow manage to slip into the final play-off position, beating Gwinshire and The Broads (both teams who would have got that play-off spot in previous seasons). Westshire lose a record 10 TIMES, to come last by a long, long way. Let's see what happened in the play-offs now.

Play-off Matches

Dwile 141/5 (16.1 overs)
Olfa 140/6 (20 overs)

County Eisc 133/6 (14.5 overs)
Mountainshire 129/7 (20 overs)

And therefore, our entrants into the T20CC are the same as they would be if league position was what qualified teams, with Dwile and County Eisc both comfortably beating their opposition.

ANL Season 10 - Part One

It's back! With new faces and old faces alike as the league reaches double figures! Let's see how the early part of the season panned out.

Below, the games in red were broadcast on APXSports, and the games in blue were broadcast on Channel 1.

Gwinevra Barbarians 2–1 Egloskerry
Barbury Town 2–4 Mandon United
FC Brimstone 0–1 Exton F.C

What an opener! Urbanista continue like they left off last season, with a powerful 3-2 win over Sunshine Athletic, the enigmatic Tregajorran scoring twice along with new Falcus import Nyaz-en. Elsewhere Issington F.C start their campaign off with a 4-2 victory over new boys Atletico Standard, with Alessandro Delvecchio being the star there. Fellow newcomers to the ANL, St George's Creek have a frankly dream start life in the top tier, with a 2-2 draw against Dwile Warriors, Maximillion the Codger being the star there. Exton and FC Endeavour also win.

Matchday 2
Sunshine Athletic 1–0 Exton F.C
Mandon United 2–5 FC Brimstone
Egloskerry 3–4 Barbury Town
St George's Creek 2–1 Gwinevra Barbarians
Wrexton F.C 0–4 Dwile Warriors
Atletico Standard 2–2 FC Endeavour
Urbanista 2–1 Issington F.C

And it's the first potentially title deciding game of the season, with Urbanista taking on Issington F.C, and it's the reigning champs who have this one, with old timers Eugeny Ivanov and Olim Benzari scoring for the Dockmen their. St George's Creek continue their dream start, this time dethroning Gwinevra Barbarians as they fell side after side this season. FC Brimstone score a surprising 5, with Janus Mumford and Richard of France scoring twice. Dwile Warriors put their poor draw last week behind them with a 4-0 drubbing of Wrexton F.C, Mateus Carvalho the star in that game.

Matchday 3
Issington F.C 1–0 Sunshine Athletic
FC Endeavour 3–4 Urbanista
Dwile Warriors 2–1 Atletico Standard
Gwinevra Barbarians 1–2 Wrexton F.C
Barbury Town 3–1 St George's Creek
FC Brimstone 0–1 Egloskerry
Exton F.C 1–0 Mandon United

Wrexton complete a surprise victory over Gwinevra with Marjatta Olesen and Frank Cardle scoring, giving the side their first points of the season. Urbanista continue with a perfect record, though FC Endeavour put up a valiant fight in that 7 goal thriller. Dwile Warriors win again as they stick close to that title chasing group, beating Atletico Standard who have not had a great start to their season with only 1 point so far, putting them bottom at the moment. Issington beat Sunshine Athletic, with Anders Holzhauser's first goal of the season being the only thing that separated the two sides.

Marshall Cup First Round
FC Harpoon 1-1 TP Indians (2-1 AET)
Urbanista Young Boys 0-1 Southtown
Northern Stars 4-2 Celts
Hudd Rovers 0-1 Gurdle A.F.C
Mona A.F.C 1-3 Flotsam and Jetsam
Dockland United 2-0 The Dambusters

Kepler United 1-1 Don't Panic FC (1-1 AET, 2-1 PKs)
Moscva 2k12 1-0 Cierbana United
Barbury FC 3-0 Frewick F.C

An exciting first round of the Marshall Cup this season, with a couple of exciting games taking place. The Sunrisian sponsored Northern Stars get a first win of in their debut tournament, beating Celts 4-2. Kepler United beat Don't Panic FC in a tense, action packed match which went all the way to penalties.

Matchday 4
Sunshine Athletic 0–1 Mandon United
Egloskerry 3–1 Exton F.C
St George's Creek 1–0 FC Brimstone
Wrexton F.C 2–1 Barbury Town
Atletico Standard 0–1 Gwinevra Barbarians
Urbanista 0–0 Dwile Warriors
Issington F.C 2–1 FC Endeavour

FC Endeavour once again lose, this time to Issington F.C, they are in a dismal league position at the moment (11th). Egloskerry win over Exton F.C , they are now 5th, overachieving this season so far. Atletico Standard lose again, it seems this season they are the team who are destined to perform dismally. Urbanista, meanwhile, share a dull 0-0 draw with Dwile Warriors.

Matchday 5
FC Endeavour 2–0 Sunshine Athletic
Dwile Warriors 0–1 Issington F.C
Gwinevra Barbarians 1–1 Urbanista
Barbury Town 4–2 Atletico Standard
FC Brimstone 2–3 Wrexton F.C
Exton F.C 1–0 St George's Creek
Mandon United 2–3 Egloskerry

Every week seems to feature a key game, with Dwile Warriors losing to Issington F.C, the Polarian Artem Asp being the scorer. FC Endeavour finally manage to string a win together, Alex Keir and Nikita Pirinen the scorers there. Egloskerry win again to go 4th, they really are on a run, while Urbanista draw again, a 1-1 draw against Gwinevra Barbarians, Tregajorran and Kaj Aurora being the scorers there.

Matchday 6
Sunshine Athletic 0–1 Egloskerry
St George's Creek 0–1 Mandon United
Wrexton F.C 1–0 Exton F.C
Atletico Standard 1–0 FC Brimstone
Urbanista 4–2 Barbury Town
Issington F.C 0–1 Gwinevra Barbarians
FC Endeavour 2–1 Dwile Warriors

Now it is Dwile Warriors turn to have a poor run, with the improving FC Endeavour beating them 2-1, Dwile Warriors having suddenly fallen to 10th place, remarkable how close things are at this stage of the season. Urbanista trounce Barbury to retain their place at the top of the table. Egloskerry once again win, taking them second in the table.

Matchday 7
Dwile Warriors 0–0 Sunshine Athletic
Gwinevra Barbarians 2–0 FC Endeavour
Barbury Town 0–1 Issington F.C
FC Brimstone 6–2 Urbanista
Exton F.C 0–1 Atletico Standard
Mandon United 2–2 Wrexton F.C
Egloskerry 0–0 St George's Creek

Egloskerry can only draw with the rising force of St George's Creek, while Urbanista lose the top spot after a frankly astonishing 6-2 loss to FC Brimstone. Issington F.C now find themselves top after beating Barbury 1-0. Dwile Warriors can only manage a 0-0 draw with Sunshine Athletic, summarising a topsy turvy season for them.

The Dambusters are in their usual spot near the bottom, though surprisingly TP Indians are joining them there, usually they are challenging for promotion.

Mareibat Premier Season 1

The Federation of Mareibat, newly admitted to the Apoxian Commonwealth, has initiated a brand new football league after year of the Imperator, Kestor O'Connor pushing for this to occur. There will be 4 teams taking part in the inaugural edition of the league, playing on a variety of pitches. The winner of the league will earn a place in the Globe Cup, where we hope they will achieve great glory. Here are the teams:

HalholzerUnited
Manager: Brian Ashgrove PBs (Pirate Bachelor of Science)
Captain: Roger O'Connor
Ground: Oblast Oval; Capacity: 1,100
Preview: Halholzer United are the favourites to take the title in the inaugural season, with the young star Olgina Harrison leading the side out. Brian Ashgrove has created a team which is comfortable in defense and able to take their chances up front. THey have one of only two pitches on solid ground this season, being based on one of the only islands with enough spare land for a football pitch.
Predicted: 1st

Harmonica Tundra
Manager: Hymnia Shelby
Captain: Jack Morriston
Ground: Level 4; Capacity: 600
Preview: The team from the largest ship in the federation, the S.S Harmonica, they play on Level 4, a deck that was once sleeping cabins for passengers, since cleared away with a football pitch placed there instead. Harmonica have a decent enough team, but will they be good enough in the end? Jack Morriston is a great player, a relative of Connor Morriston in the ANL, and they have the ageing star of goalkeeping, Hannah Hughton in the side.
Predicted: 3rd

BellightFC
Manager: Jasper Redrought
Captain: Vina O'Hara
Ground: Offcut Ridge; Capacity: 700
Preview: The team from the North of the Archipelago are a stubborn lot, strongly built and incredibly physical, they play on Offcut Ridge, an imposing stadium located next to the only mountain in the archipelago, Mount Offcut. The rugby team at Bellight is more famous than its footballing counterpart, though Bellight could still shock Mareibat with a good performance here. Vina O'Hara is a defensive midfielder but still the most likely to score, the best in the team by a mile.
Predicted: 2nd

ArbourLights FC
Manager: Frank Scurn
Captain: John Konas
Ground: The Floater; Capacity: 200
Preview: The weakest team in the league, Arbour Lights play on a floating stadium, which is pulled into place by the team's ageing tug, the S.S Kraftwerk. They probably won't be able to match the other teams, as they are really more a team of odds and sods, pulled together from across the boats and islands, whereas the others are from more specific areas. They will probably struggle, though no one's told them this, they regularly fire their manager due to having heightened expectations.
Predicted: 4th

Mareibat Premier Season 1

Matchday 1
Arbour Lights FC 0–1 Harmonica Tundra
Bellight FC 1–2 Halholzer United

The two pre-tournament favourites take the first honours then, with Olgina Harrison and Laurinda Savage scoring for Halholzer at the Offcut Ridge, in front of a nearly full capacity crowd. Harmonica Tundra also started bright, with fantastic prospect Ezekiel Charlestown scoring the only goal in that game.

Matchday 2
Harmonica Tundra 1–2 Halholzer United
Arbour Lights FC 2–2 Bellight FC

Halholzer win again, surprisingly scoring two goals for such a defensive league, with Olgina Harrison and Roger O'Conner scoring against the Tundra on Level 4. Another surprise goalfest at the other end of the table, with both Arbour Lights FC and Bellight FC picking up their first points of the season.

Matchday 3
Bellight FC 0–0 Harmonica Tundra
Halholzer United 0–1 Arbour Lights FC

Bellight FC and Harmonica star in a completely eventless 0-0 draw, while Halholzer are stunned by Arbour Lights FC in their first home game of the season, with John Konas finding the net at the expansive Oblast Oval in Halholzer. Let's have a quick look at the table at the half-way point of the season. Halholzer are top, though Harmonica Tundra and Arbour Lights FC lurk close behind.

Pld W D L GF GA GD Pts
1 Halholzer United 3 2 0 1 4 3 +1 6
2 Harmonica Tundra 3 1 1 1 2 2 0 4
3 Arbour Lights FC 3 1 1 1 3 3 0 4
4 Bellight FC 3 0 2 1 3 4 −1 2

Matchday 4
Harmonica Tundra 2–0 Arbour Lights FC
Halholzer United 2–0 Bellight FC

Two identical scorelines as the top two both record identical home wins, with the star players Ezekiel Charlestown and Olgina Harrison both featuring heavily.

Matchday 5
Halholzer United 2–1 Harmonica Tundra
Bellight FC 1–0 Arbour Lights FC

And with that, Halholzer secure the championship and a spot in the Globe Cup with a win over their title rivals Harmonica Tundra. Bellight FC beat Arbor Lights FC, with Roy Tobin scoring, as Bellight aim to avoid the wooden spoon.

Matchday 6
Harmonica Tundra 3–1 Bellight FC
Arbour Lights FC 1–2 Halholzer United

More goals in this highly defensive league! Harmonica Tundra put 3 past a bedraggled Bellight FC side, with Ezekiel Charlestown scoring twice there. Halholzer United finish their season in high spirits with a goal each for Olgina Harrison and Roger O'Connor.

Pld W D L GF GA GD Pts
1 Halholzer United 6 5 0 1 10 5 +5 15 - CHAMPIONS, GC
2 Harmonica Tundra 6 3 1 2 8 5 +3 10
3 Bellight FC 6 1 2 3 5 9 −4 5
4 Arbour Lights FC 6 1 1 4 4 8 −4 4

Golden Boot

Golden Glove

ANL Season 10 - Part Two

As the league reaches it's halfway stage, we review the last 6 games, and the effect they've had on where things stand now.

Below, the games in red were broadcast on APXSports, and the games in blue were broadcast on Channel 1.

Matchday 8
Sunshine Athletic 2–1 St George's Creek
Wrexton F.C 2–2 Egloskerry
Atletico Standard 3–2 Mandon United
Urbanista 2–1 Exton F.C
Issington F.C 1–1 FC Brimstone
FC Endeavour 2–0 Barbury Town
Dwile Warriors 1–3 Gwinevra Barbarians

Sunshine Athletic grab a win over newcomers St George's Creek, in their increasingly troubled campaign to avoid relegation with Wobbly Clambanger and Harry van Rossem scoring there. Urbanista beat a spirited Exton side at home, Tolgus Tregajorran once again having no trouble in finding the net, along with Olim Benzari. Issington F.C draw with FC Brimstone, Brimstone struggling themselves, while Gwinevra Barbarians stun Dwile Warriors away from home to find themselves 2nd in the league, no one wold have predicted the old giants to be there at this stage of the season.

Matchday 9
Gwinevra Barbarians 4–0 Sunshine Athletic
Barbury Town 0–3 Dwile Warriors
FC Brimstone 1–2 FC Endeavour
Exton F.C 1–0 Issington F.C
Mandon United 0–1 Urbanista
Egloskerry 3–1 Atletico Standard
St George's Creek 5–3 Wrexton F.C

Once again Gwinevra stun everyone, putting 4 past Sunshine Athletic, with Rancisc Tenian grabbing a couple, along with Kaj Aurora and Charlie Boroni. Dwile Warriors return to winning ways with a convincing win over Barbury Town, a team who seemed to have collapsed of late. FC Endeavour and Urbanista win in some pretty unexciting matches, but Exton keep their season exciting with a 1-0 win over Issington F.C, the fantastic Martin Roskorwell scoring there. Egloskerry continue to defy expectations, with a 3-1 win over Atletico Standard.

Matchday 10
Sunshine Athletic 0–1 Wrexton F.C
Atletico Standard 0–1 St George's Creek
Urbanista 3–0 Egloskerry
Issington F.C 2–1 Mandon United
FC Endeavour 4–2 Exton F.C
Dwile Warriors 0–2 FC Brimstone
Gwinevra Barbarians 4–1 Barbury Town

Gwinevra just keep on winning! If Urbanista and the Tregajorran mobile were to stop rolling, then they would almost certainly be top by now! This has flavours of Jan Mayen's unexpected title win about it! St George's Creek maintain their very comfortable mid-table win by beating Atletico Standard 1-0, with Marcus the Bright with the goal there. FC Endeavour move into 3rd with a win over Exton F.C, summarising the topsy-turvy season they've been having at Exton. Their time will come, some day. Dwile Warriors are stunned by FC Brimstone, at the moment it looks like Dwile will struggle to qualify for UICA at this rate!

Matchday 11
Barbury Town 1–0 Sunshine Athletic
FC Brimstone 0–0 Gwinevra Barbarians
Exton F.C 2–3 Dwile Warriors
Mandon United 1–1 FC Endeavour
Egloskerry 1–1 Issington F.C
St George's Creek 1–1 Urbanista
Wrexton F.C 3–1 Atletico Standard

Quite a quiet matchday, this one, as 4 draws are recorded in total, FC Endeavour, Issington F.C, Urbanista and Gwinevra Barbarians all drawing. Egloskerry slip out of the UICA spots with that draw, is this the beginning of the decline that we so often see in the plucky underdogs that start off so well? Wrexton F.C win, they've been quietly having a very impressive season indeed. Dwile Warriors win to gain a bit of ground on the leading group, while Exton suffer as a result.

Marshall Cup Second Round
Barbury Town 0-3 Mulhampstead
Issington F.C 2-0 Egloskerry
Barbury FC 0-1 Wye United
Moscva 2k12 2-0 Oldem Gents Club
FC Harpoon 2-0 Sunshine Athletic
Wrexton F.C 0-1 FC Brimstone
Urbanista 1-1 Gurdle A.F.C (1-1 AET, 2-4 PKs)
Gwinevra Barbarians 1-0 Southtown
Kepler United 4-1 Mandon United
Dwile Warriors 2-2 Dockland United (3-2 AET)
Flotsam and Jetsam 0-3 Gwinevra Bulls
Miners '47 1-0 St George's Creek
FC Endeavour 6-1 Bouldertown
Exton F.C 2-0 Atletico Standard
Urbanista Trojans 2-0 Lighthouse Coves
Northern Stars 0-0 Old Licentians (0-0 AET, 3-2 PKs)

And so the top clubs join the rest, and as per usual there are several upsets. Mulhampstead upset Barbury Town, which sums up Barbury's season pretty well, while Wrexton F.C, Urbanista, Mandon, St George's Creek and Atletico Standard all drop out, while Dwile Warriors needs extra time to beat Dockland United. FC Endeavour beat Bouldertown in one of the most one-sides fixtures ever seen in the Marshall Cup, a 6-1 thrashing where Alex Keir scores a hat-trick. He's in fantastic form for them, he is.

Matchday 12
Sunshine Athletic 0–1 Atletico Standard
Urbanista 2–0 Wrexton F.C
Issington F.C 3–4 St George's Creek
FC Endeavour 2–1 Egloskerry
Dwile Warriors 4–4 Mandon United
Gwinevra Barbarians 0–0 Exton F.C
Barbury Town 2–0 FC Brimstone

Atletico Standard beat Sunshine Athletic, leaving Athletic looking pretty stranded down at the bottom, while that win gives Atletico a vital boost in the relegation fight, which FC Brimstone and Mandon United have somehow become involved with. FC Endeavour beat Egloskerry, full of confidence off their Marshall Cup win, while Issington lose and Gwinevra draw to see FC Endeavour second as they chase their first title, only Urbanista on their seemingly unstoppable roll in front of them now.

Matchday 13
FC Brimstone 3–0 Sunshine Athletic
Exton F.C 1–0 Barbury Town
Mandon United 0–0 Gwinevra Barbarians
Egloskerry 1–2 Dwile Warriors
St George's Creek 0–1 FC Endeavour
Wrexton F.C 0–0 Issington F.C
Atletico Standard 2–2 Urbanista

Urbanista falter, while FC Endeavour narrowly beat a surprisingly good St George's Creek, meaning Urbanista lead by two points at the halfway mark, Nikita Pirinen scoring for Endeavour. Gwinevra Barbarians draw, meaning they are now 1 point behind Edneavour in third. Issington F.C and Wrexton F.C, the top clubs currently filling out the UICA spots draw 0-0 in a boring encounter, while Dwile Warriors currently sit 6th, still in contention for a Globe Cup spot. Exton and Barbury now sit 9th and 10th, both disappointing for them, while Atletico Standard and Mandon United currently fight it out for 12th place and safety, while Sunshine Athletic, 6 points adrift at the bottom look pretty doomed at this stage.

In the second tier, it is just a random as usual, with Gwinevra Bulls currently topping the standings, though with Celts, Urbanista Trojans, Mona A.F.C and Wye United all on 22 points, it is still anyones guess as to who will take the title this season, and who will get a place in those play-off spots. Mulhampstead are averagely midtable this season, while Miners '47 and Oldem Gents Club continue to struggle. The real surprise is Lighthouse Coves though, as they are currently facing their second relegation in a row. Southtown are currently bottom, they seem to be real league hoppers at the moment.

It's all looking very interesting in the bottom league, with FC Harpoon currently top, while Barbury F.C and Moscva 2k12 are close behind. Old Guard Regiment are currently quite comfortably 4th, though Frewick F.C could easily sneak in. The Dambusters are bottom by a whole 9 points, yet to with this season, they are doing phenomenally badly, having conceded 11 more goals than anyone else.

ANL Season 10 - Part Three

Let's be honest, this is the part of the season where things are getting really exciting, and we're just impatient to see it reach a thrilling conclusion.

Below, the games in red were broadcast on APXSports, and the games in blue were broadcast on Channel 1.

Matchday 14
Sunshine Athletic 1–0 Urbanista
Atletico Standard 0–0 Issington F.C
Wrexton F.C 2–3 FC Endeavour
St George's Creek 1–1 Dwile Warriors
Egloskerry 0–0 Gwinevra Barbarians
Mandon United 3–3 Barbury Town
Exton F.C 1–3 FC Brimstone

Sunshine Athletic inflict a surprise loss on Urbanista, seeing Urbanista lose their grasp on the top spot of the league, as FC Endeavour take that honour, beating Wrexton F.C in a high scoring encounter at the Central Ground. St George's Creek continue their good record against Dwile Warriors. FC Brimstone beat Exton F.C away in a mid-table fixture, as both teams look to line up a run to the UICA spots.

Matchday 15
Exton F.C 1–0 Sunshine Athletic
FC Brimstone 1–1 Mandon United
Barbury Town 2–1 Egloskerry
Gwinevra Barbarians 1–0 St George's Creek
Dwile Warriors 6–3 Wrexton F.C
FC Endeavour 4–2 Atletico Standard
Issington F.C 0–1 Urbanista

Martin Roskorwell once again fires home for Exton F.C, while goals from Sverre Devold and Maxim Kolo are good enough to see off Egloskerry, who continue to tumble down the table after their promising start to the season. Gwinevra Barbarian go one better than Dwile Warriors did, beating St George's Creek, with Marina Hayduff's defensive strategies transforming Gwinevra. Dwile Warriors show the form that made them the dominant team of the first 5 seasons, Mateus Carvalho, Keri Ularu, Agustin Caruzzo and Olivier Toivainen all scoring as they post 6 past Wrexton. FC Endeavour stay top after beating Atletico Standard 4-2, while Urbanista beat Issington in a key encounter, Issington now being 10 points off the top spot.

Marshall Cup Third Round
Mulhampstead 0-0 Issington F.C (0-0 AET, 1-0 PKs)
Wye United 2-2 Moscva 2k12 (3-2 AET)
FC Harpoon 2-0 FC Brimstone
Gurdle A.F.C 3-2 Gwinevra Barbarians
Kepler United 1-2 Dwile Warriors
Gwinevra Bulls 3-4 Miners '47
FC Endeavour 1-1 Exton F.C (2-1 AET)
Urbanista Trojans 1-0 Northern Stars

Mulhampstead oust Issington in a thrilling encounter in which the two sides can only be separated by penalties. FC Harpoon knock out FC Brimstone, in the biggest upset of the round, the ANL3 high flyers playing brilliantly. Gurdle A.F.C also cause an upset, beating Gwinevra Barbarians 3-2.

Matchday 16
Sunshine Athletic 3–0 Issington F.C
Urbanista 2–2 FC Endeavour
Atletico Standard 1–5 Dwile Warriors
Wrexton F.C 0–0 Gwinevra Barbarians
St George's Creek 1–1 Barbury Town
Egloskerry 0–0 FC Brimstone
Mandon United 0–0 Exton F.C

Sunshine Athletic have finally found some form! Now they are beating Issington F.C, 3-0, scoring a third of their total goals in one match. Urbanista and FC Endeavour share a draw at the top of the table to keep things close, while Dwile Warriors follow up last Matchday's dominant performance with another, beating Atletico Standard 5-1 away.

Matchday 17
Mandon United 4–1 Sunshine Athletic
Exton F.C 1–1 Egloskerry
FC Brimstone 0–3 St George's Creek
Barbury Town 5–2 Wrexton F.C
Gwinevra Barbarians 1–1 Atletico Standard
Dwile Warriors 0–0 Urbanista
FC Endeavour 5–1 Issington F.C

Mandon United take some respite from a poor campaign with a 4-1 win over Sunshine Athletic, keeping their survival hopes alive. St George's Creek win excellently away from home against a Brimstone side for whom results a sliding dramatically. Barbury Town are rampant against Wrexton F.C, with Namine Nagatomo and Jooles the Sophisicated shining there. FC Endeavour win dramatically against Issington F.C, who have looked quite out of shape this season, with Issington slipping down to 7th with that result.

Matchday 18
Sunshine Athletic 0–1 FC Endeavour
Issington F.C 4–3 Dwile Warriors
Urbanista 1–0 Gwinevra Barbarians
Atletico Standard 3–1 Barbury Town
Wrexton F.C 1–0 FC Brimstone
St George's Creek 0–2 Exton F.C
Egloskerry 1–0 Mandon United

FC Endeavour continue to roll on, beating lowly Sunshine Athletic in yet another dominant display. Urbanista keep right up there though with a 1-0 win over Gwinevra Barbarians, the enigmatic Tregajorran scoring again. Issington F.C return to 5th in the table, with a high scoring victory over Dwile Warriors, in a game in which there doesn't appear to be any defense at all. Exton F.C beat St George's Creek, while Egloskerry beat Mandon.

Marshall Cup Quarter Finals
Mulhampstead 2-0 Wye United
FC Harpoon 1-4 Gurdle A.F.C
Dwile Warriors 1-1 Miners '47 (1-1 AET, 3-2 PKs)

FC Endeavour 1-1 Urbanista Trojans (1-1 AET, 1-2 PKs)

And so Dwile Warriors are the only ANL side left in the Marshall Cup come the semi-finals, with FC Endeavour being knocked out by Urbanista Trojans. FC Harpoon's brave run is brought to an end by Gurdle A.F.C, and Mulhampstead win over Wye United.

Matchday 19
Egloskerry 0–2 Sunshine Athletic
Mandon United 2–0 St George's Creek
Exton F.C 1–0 Wrexton F.C
FC Brimstone 0–1 Atletico Standard
Barbury Town 4–1 Urbanista
Gwinevra Barbarians 0–2 Issington F.C
Dwile Warriors 2–2 FC Endeavour

Both Sunrisian Carvalho's score this weekend, with Ricardo besting Wrexton's ragged defense, while Mateus puts another away for Dwile Warriors, what an inspired signing his looking like now. Sunshine Athletic win again over Egloskerry, meaning Exton are now 6th, chasing their first ever time in the Globe Cup. Barbury Town are also moving up in the world with a 4-1 win over Urbanista, the potent midfield of Karrkka, Devold and Jooles the Sophisticated doing a tremendous job there. FC Brimstone loss to Atletico Standard puts them in the relegation zone, a place they do not want to be.

Matchday 20
Sunshine Athletic 2–1 Dwile Warriors
FC Endeavour 1–1 Gwinevra Barbarians
Issington F.C 3–2 Barbury Town
Urbanista 3–0 FC Brimstone
Atletico Standard 0–0 Exton F.C
Wrexton F.C 2–2 Mandon United
St George's Creek 2–3 Egloskerry

Endeavour can only draw against Gwinevra, while Urbanista win, reducing the Endeavour's lead at the top to just 2 points with 6 games left to play. Issington F.C beat Barbury Town roundly, Anders Holzhauser getting man of the match there, while Egloskerry travel to Old Guard and beat St George's Creek roundly. Exton F.C hold onto 6th place with a 0-0 draw against Atletico Standard, level with Dwile Warriors in 5th on points.

ANL Season 10 - Part Four

It's the final part of the season! Let's just say that this ending was a cracker - suitable for a league just reaching double figures.

Below, the games in red were broadcast on APXSports, and the games in blue were broadcast on Channel 1.

Matchday 21
St George's Creek 1–0 Sunshine Athletic
Egloskerry 4–3 Wrexton F.C
Mandon United 2–2 Atletico Standard
Exton F.C 1–0 Urbanista
FC Brimstone 0–0 Issington F.C
Barbury Town 1–1 FC Endeavour
Gwinevra Barbarians 3–4 Dwile Warriors

Exton F.C stun their fans with a 1-0 victory over Urbanista, Niko Vaarakallio being the inspiration for them there. St George's Creek continue to prosper, Maximillion the Codger scoring for the Guardians against Sunshine Athletic. FC Endeavour choke in their attempt to pull away from Urbanista, drawing 1-1 away at Barbury, while Gwinevra Barbarians and Dwile Warriors both star in a 7 goal thriller, Rancisc Tenian scoring twice as he tries to rekindle his form from last season.

Matchday 22
Sunshine Athletic 1–0 Gwinevra Barbarians
Dwile Warriors 2–3 Barbury Town
FC Endeavour 4–2 FC Brimstone
Issington F.C 2–5 Exton F.C
Urbanista 1–0 Mandon United
Atletico Standard 1–0 Egloskerry
Wrexton F.C 1–1 St George's Creek

Sunshine Athletic pull remarkably beat Gwinevra Barbarians, as they attempt to move out of the relegation zone, they're no longer bottom, that dubious honour falls to FC Brimstone, who lose to FC Endeavour, while the reigning champs win in a slightly tamer match over Mandon, the Falcan Nyaz-en scoring there. Exton F.C star though in a remarkable 5-2 win over Issington F.C, Martin Roskorwell picking up two on the way - he's in great form, I'd be surprised to still see him at the River Exe Ground next season.

Matchday 23
Wrexton F.C 0–1 Sunshine Athletic
St George's Creek 4–2 Atletico Standard
Egloskerry 0–3 Urbanista
Mandon United 0–1 Issington F.C
Exton F.C 1–1 FC Endeavour
FC Brimstone 2–2 Dwile Warriors
Barbury Town 0–1 Gwinevra Barbarians

St George's Creek smash Atletico Standard around a bit with a glorious 4-2 win, Axe the Dominant and Julian Iremonger playing vital roles in that, as Issington triumph over Mandon United, Holzhauser the scorer, but praise should go to the young Solomon Etezadi at the back, after he made a couple of key saves in defense. Urbanista trounce Egloskerry, with Tregajorran and Ivanov linking up well together.

Marshall Cup Semi-Finals
Mulhampstead 2-1 Gurdle A.F.C
Dwile Warriors 3-0 Urbanista Trojans

Exciting times in the Marshall Cup, as Mulhampstead beat a struggling Gurdle A.F.C side to progress to their first final, becoming the first team not from the top tier to do so as well. Dwile Warriors win over Urbanista Trojans in a largely expected result.

Matchday 24
Sunshine Athletic 0–2 Barbury Town
Gwinevra Barbarians 1–0 FC Brimstone
Dwile Warriors 2–0 Exton F.C
FC Endeavour 1–2 Mandon United
Issington F.C 3–3 Egloskerry
Urbanista 5–4 St George's Creek
Atletico Standard 2–2 Wrexton F.C

Heartbreak for FC Brimstone fans as they are pretty much guaranteed relegation now, a surprise for most people going into this season, after they lose to Gwinevra Barbarians, while Sunshine Athletic's survival hopes a dealt a serious blow by a 2-0 loss to Barbury Town. Dwile Warriors are purely chasing placing now, as only Urbanista and FC Endeavour can win now. Speaking of which, a loss for FC Endeavour and a battling win for Urbanista puts the reigning champions top with two games to go.

Matchday 25
Atletico Standard 2–1 Sunshine Athletic
Wrexton F.C 2–2 Urbanista
St George's Creek 2–2 Issington F.C
Egloskerry 2–3 FC Endeavour
Mandon United 2–2 Dwile Warriors
Exton F.C 1–0 Gwinevra Barbarians
FC Brimstone 4–4 Barbury Town

Oh, now its close! Urbanista draw while FC Endeavour win over Egloskerry, putting FC Endeavour top on goal difference going into the final match of the season. Exton F.C stand on the cusp of their first ever UICA placing, currently sitting 4th with one match to go, though 3rd to 6th can still all be decided on the final match. FC Brimstone manage to draw with Barbury Town, but it's not enough, they are relegated, a sad thing to see for most of the league. Sunshine Athletic are also effectively down, they would need to win and Mandon not to draw level on points. And even then they'd still have to overcome a 13 goal deficit to scrape through.

Matchday 26
Sunshine Athletic 0–1 FC Brimstone
Barbury Town 1–0 Exton F.C
Gwinevra Barbarians 1–0 Mandon United
Dwile Warriors 4–1 Egloskerry
FC Endeavour 3–0 St George's Creek
Issington F.C 3–0 Wrexton F.C
Urbanista 4–1 Atletico Standard

And it is decided! FC Endeavour win on the final matchday on goal difference, beating St George's Creek 3-0 to do so. Urbanista fans will be massively disappointed after with the result, after coming so agonising close, but they will be able to console themselves with thoughts of another year of Champions Cup football. Gwinevra Barbarians surprise as well, finishing third after beating Mandon United 1-0, while Issington F.C must be content with 4th this year, they probably struggled with the amount of games they had to play this season. Exton F.C lose to Barbury which sees both teams placed 6th and 7th respectively, and both will be looking to push on for Globe Cup football next season. St George's Creek, although losing 3-0 will be pleased with their comfortable 8th placed finish in their first season in the top flight, as will Atletico Standard, who must just be pleased to survive in their first season back in the top flight. Sunshine Athletic fans probably knew relegation was coming, so they won't be as depressed as FC Brimstone fans, relegation really did not look on the cards at the start of the season.

And its all incredibly exciting in the second tier of Apoxian football come the end of the season, as Mona A.F.C take the title, and book a spot back in the ANL after 8 years outside the top tier. Celts, Miners '47 and Urbanista Trojans all fill the normal play-off spots but there is a slightly different twist this year.

Midway through the season, three new clubs submitted applications to join the ANL system, those clubs being Old Guardian clubs Oldem Mechanical, Calshott Lighthouse and Apoxian club Cawln Wanderers. After a short period of reviewing those applications, the clubs were admitted. To keep the league numbers the same, there will be an expansion to 15 teams in each league, with three clubs being promoted from the ANL2 this season. To facilitate this, it was decided that the clubs from 2 to 7 would participate in a series of play-offs to determine which club is promoted to the top tier of the league.

Oldem Gents Club survived only due to league expansion, while Lighthouse Coves have shocked everyone and themselves in suffering their second consecutive relegation. Their only consolation is that they can fall no further, though that isn't really a consolation at all.

FC Harpoon stormed to the ANL3 title this season, gaining the record amount of points for any club in one season over all the leagues, getting 60 points with a goal difference of +32. Magnificent. The Dambusters excelled themselves with how terrible they were this season, not winning all season and gaining a grand total of 6 points, twenty less than Flotsam and Jetsam above them.

An even more inventive solution was required for the third tier as 6 teams would need to be promoted to make space for the incoming teams which would join the league system at the lowest tier. In the end, it was decided to give the next best four teams promotion, Barbury F.C, Moscva 2k12, Frewick F.C, Kepler United and then, curiously and with much controversy, giving Old Guard Regiment promotion relegation despite their league finish of 8th, due to them being winners of the league fair play award. Don't worry, the promotion/relegation play-offs will return to normal next season.

Marshall Cup 5 Final

Attendance: 70,155
Mulhampstead 0-2 Dwile Warriors

And Dwile get their name on the Marshall Cup finally, beating Mulhampstead at the Royal Stadium in dominant fashion, with Mateus Carvalho grabbing the opening goal of the match 13 minutes into time. Mulhampstead came close in the 30th minute, but Will Hewitt safe hands kept Dwile in the lead. In the 77th minute, Dwile confirmed their cup win with a glorious John Carpenter strike.

Apox County Cricket Trophy

4 season of domestic cricket have now finished, and Apoxian cricket continues to grow, the season ending on the cusp of Apox organising the 4th GCF Test season. This season, County Eisc finally defy their critics, winning in dominant fashion by a record 42 points ahead of second placed Gwinshire, and a record total points of 122. Gwinshire, Mountainshire and The Broads all finished fairly close to each other in the remaining play-off positions, while last seasons winners, Dwile, did terribly, finishing 5th, not even good enough for a play-off spot. Olfa and Westshire, the two whipping boys of the league finished things off.

County PD W D L BP Points
County Eisc 12 7 5 0 37 122
Gwinshire 12 5 4 3 18 80
Moutainshire 12 4 5 3 22 78
The Broads 12 5 2 5 19 75

Dwile 12 3 3 6 15 54
Olfa 12 2 5 5 18 53
Westshire 12 2 4 6 16 48

Play-off Matches
County Eisc 138/7 (15.3 overs)
The Broads 135 (15.4 overs)

Gwinshire 161/7 (20 overs)
Mountainshire 163/6 (18.5 overs)

And so it is arguably the two best teams in the league who will go on to the Twenty20 Champions Cup.

Super Sixteen Preview

This next season is set to be a milestone season in Apoxian (and Licentian!) rugby on two counts, as the Super Sixteen prepares for it's 5th season, with Apoxian clubs looking to redress the two countries title wins, with only one Apoxian club, Gwinevra Saints, trotting out as winners in the last 4 seasons of Super Sixteen action. In addition to this, Apoxian rugby reaches double figures this season, with it now being 10 seasons since the Apox Rugby Eight was set up, the first organised rugby in the country.

In addition to the above milestones, the Super Sixteen will be seeing promotion and relegation occur for the first time, with the lowest ranked Apoxian and lowest ranked Licentian club falling down to their respective competitions from each country, with the Apox Premier League finally coming to terms with the Super Sixteen, after three seasons of existence, and the newly formed Inter-Parish Cup instantly hooking up to the Super Sixteen.

George Lockwood's Pre-Season Predictions
1st: JK Memorial Squad
2nd: Islanders
3rd: Hudd Trolls

Apox Premier League

The Apox Premier League, formed after the creation of the Super Sixteen has been in existence for three seasons now, consisting of eight teams playing each other in a double round robin format. This year the winner will be promoted to the Super Sixteen, and the bottom placed team will be relegated to the Second Division, which is also made up of eight teams. A bonus point system is also in place, with a winning bonus for clubs scoring more than 4 tries and a losing bonus for those clubs losing by 7 points or less. The favourites for the title this season will be The Vikings, who have a strong squad and are incredibly used to winning, having won the title for the last two seasons. The following clubs will be taking part:

The Vikings - Favourites
RFC
Exton Heraldrim
Ecchinswell Saints
Dwile Rugby
Zealots of the North
Northerly United
Cierbana
