OMG!!
Metro Sports Blog

Wow, all I can say is wow. Here that folks soccer fans back home are in jubilee, why well christ didn't you see that match day six game make or break against 4 Riech, the team won. With that much needed win West Guiana's first ever Beach Soccer squad is moving onto the Round of 16.

Look the match didn't start so very well against the team in the second minute 4 Riech scored a goal. Well that "greatly upset " Coach Temist that the defense allowed a goal so early, but after that they got it together and made sweet music for the fans for the rest of the game.

Well so I went to the game after it took me a while to get some tickets. Well matter of fact I had to get some more money since the night after the beating from Western Cuba, I come back to my cheap shitty motel room since Metro Sports gets the nicer places for "real journalists" yea bloggers even so popular as I am are considered journalists, but by God as my witness I'll be promoted! Okay so I come back to my room and well guess what, the damned room was broken into and all my shit was stolen. Thankfully I had the sense to take my ID and passports and keep them in my car rental.

What was the first thing I do I first called the police, but then headed for the main office. Great under some bullshit policy the motel was NOT reliable if anything is stolen from its rooms (!#@&&^!^%&%^$). So the police arrive and ask me about a million questions about everything that was stolen and so I named everything out, in total the estimated loss of everything was around $5,000. Then the police ask me even more questions, when I got fed up with it I simply said "I'm a journalist/blogger for Metro Sports out of St. Johns, Myto, West Guiana.

FINALLY we started to get that damn ball rolling! The police simply said that it is greatly un likely that they'll be able to catch the person who stole my things. But out of this story the sweetest thing is, the motel owner is in big trouble for at lest not trying to help me.

Okay then enough about my little screwed up adventure, in the round of sixteen West Guiana will face off with the Group G winner Kazzoria who went 4-0-2 in their group, which in my opinion looked tough, if so Temist and his squad have one hell of a challenge to face. Now this is a long shot, but if they beat Kazzoria, they'll advance to the quarter-finals and would play ether Thatius(5-0-1) or Aqusul(3-0-3).

Group F Final Standings

Team P W D L For Ag +/- Pts
1 Western Cuba 6 5 0 1 37 13 +24 15

Going to the Knockout Rounds, Three Peat?

Jorge Ramirez

Western Cuba is going to the knockouts, but we knew that from the start. What we did not know is how much we were going to dominate in our last game against Bloodbath Generation, fourteen to zero! I was expecting a big win, after all much of the national team was pretty ticked after that lose to 4 Riech, something that should never happened. Nobody was expecting this big of a victory though.

Once more, Konstantin Yevtushenko dominated throughout the game. Scoring nine goals against Bloodbath Generation, redemption may have come for Yevtushenko, as several teams in the WCSL have reported setting up offers for him. However though, the WCSL is currently being re-aligned, so that offer may come later.

Tom Dawson would add to the game by scoring three goals, while Mera and Luna would come off the bench with a couple of minutes left. Both would end up scoring two goals. The offense was absolutely thrilling yesterday, but many people are also under-rating Western Cuba's defense.

The defense allowed no goals yesterday against Bloodbath Generation, and also allowed the least goals in Group F. In fact the only group that allowed less goals was Carmadin, who allowed only ten goals throughout the competition. Carmadin only scored nineteen goals however compared to Western Cuba's thirty-seven. Perhaps the closest team in competition so far has been Darmen, along with Ko-oren and Thatius. With Western Cuba and them being the only countries with a 5-1 record.

Out of those teams Western Cuba has the most goals scored so far along with being tied with Darmen for the least goals allowed out of these four nations. Western Cuba is currently in great position as they head off to face Hakkland in the Round of 16. The game should be pretty simple for Western Cuba, Hakkland recorded a 3-1-2 record while in Group G and only made it out on H2H GD against the Northern Sunrise Islands.

While it shouldn't be a push-over for Western Cuba, they still have to keep there eyes open as anything can happen. Be sure to tune into WCSN and watch our boys go to the Quarter-Finals.

Vettrera Advances To Round of 16

Vettrera has topped Group A, and earned the right to advance to the Round of 16. Their first game will be against Bergnoviania, a competent team who went 4-0-2 in their group. Vettrera is confident that they will be able to pull out the win and advance further in the competition, hoping to make the Final 4, and possibly progress to the Finals. Either way, this is exciting for Vettrera as they expect a good bump in their ranking after this installment. They of course are here to win, but Vettrera is pleased with their performance thus far.

It's unbelievable that is how Mike Temist is seeing this unprecedented run West Guiana's debut in the Beach Soccer stage they're now in the semi-finals after beating Aqusul seven to three. Now this is really the first time Temist has had any teams make it this far into the knock off rounds, the only other time his team made it this far was when Gemsbrook FC went on to the the NSA Cup in 1998, two years before he became the West Guiana National Soccer team's head coach.

Now then with his team in the semi-finals even with a loss they stil have a fifty percent chance to place, but why not go all the way if that is even possible? Why not make a run at it all the way to the finals, most certain-ally they'd have to face off against Western Cuba if they made it. But that fantasy came to a half until Temist looked at the semi-final round, West Guiana vs Western Cuba, dashes any hopes very quick Temist thought, but maybe they could still have a slim chance no matter how slim.

The odds bet Western Cuba will win by five, not very good odds to say. However though like what was said even with a loss a possibility ending third is very real, but then again one must remember this is a Cinderella story West Guiana has no rank and we've beaten teams with ranks, so why not continue with this story? What a way to end the week with bringing home West Guiana's first world title.

Overall however there isn't very much to say ridding on this team, the fan base in West Guiana for this sport is very minimal, but that was the same story for soccer until Mike Temist came along. So why not encourage a greater fans base than to at lest make a run at it, even third or second will do just fine until the next time.

Havana Tribute
The #1 Newspaper in Western Cuba

Off to the Semi-Finals

Jorge Ramirez

After a close scare in the Round of 16, Western Cuba cruised comfortably to the semi-finals. Last night the Andromeda Islands would fall to the clutches of Western Cuba in a final score of five to two. The victory makes Western Cuba one step closer to a possible three peat, a feat that really happens in the world of sports, and that win might just be the thing to make beach soccer explode in Western Cuba.

In fact last night, the president of Western Cuba's sports association, announced that beach soccer could be considered as a tier in being revised soccer pyramid for Western Cuba. Beach soccer would be near the bottom, but just it being in the national soccer pyramid would draw more of an interest in the sport. After all, while Western Cuba's population has dropped since the war with Britannia, now standing at only forty-three million. The nation is huge into its sports, and will attract crowds in the tens of thousands. I could see beach soccer attracting 4,000+ fans per game. Which would be pretty well for a low tier league.

As for now though all eyes are on the national team. In fact a deal has drawn closer for Konstantin Yevtushenko with one of the newly revised clubs in the highest tier of Western Cuban soccer, which the new league has yet to be named. The club has not been named yet by Yevtushenko either, who wants to keep his new team a secret until he signs.

And Yevtushenko is still having a monster beach cup performance so far. Last night, Yevtushenko scored four of Western Cuba's five goals yesterday. Tom Dawson would assist on all four and would score on one. While Yevtushenko has been drawing major attention, Tom Dawson has been attracting also. While he hasn't signed with a team yet, or been in talks, Dawson has been invited to several team camps to train with players before the season begins. The Havana City Titans are not one of them, the team he originally attended a public try-out for.

Now Western Cuba is off to the semi-finals to face West Guiana. West Guiana, while unranked knows Western Cuba's player style well. After all, Western Cuba has already played them twice in the group stage. While we won both of them, Emanuel Montero and his squad have to be on extra watch this game. It's not a doubt West Guiana is looking to come out and shock the world in this game. Western Cuba must play as well as they have so far in this beach cup.

Tomorrow's game is being broadcast, like always on WCSN. However before I go I bring up an interesting point, which we can carry the conversation onto the Havana Tribute if you readers want to. If beach soccer wants to fully come out as a big sport in Western Cuba, will they have to decline being on the soccer pyramid. If they accept the deal as one of the lowest-tiers, there practically bound not to grow massively. The short term would be good, but the long term is questionable.

While forming there own league, the long term could be outstanding for the sport. However the league would probably struggle when first being started. Or perhaps the middle, a hump. When you think of it, the league starting would probably bring large attendances. After a while though, attendance would most likely die down and they would have to deal with a middle period before rising again. It's tough to say Western Cuba, carry on this debate on my blog on the Havana Tribute's website. I'll be on throughout the day, so feel free to ask questions.

And West Guiana's hopes of the upset to end all upsets are dashed, and Western Cuba are still on course for a three-peat.
