Here is the sixth season of the KNL. The fifth season of the KNL saw Branvun as champions, the first ever team other than Maethoru to get this honor. In international football, the fifth anniversary of Ko-oren in UICA competitions was not a success: KOR as association got 6 points two seasons ago, 4 points one season ago, and only 2 points this season. Ranked 38th, the association needs two or three good seasons to break into the '2 teams in the CC' group, yet at this rate, will Ko-oren climb the ladder at all?

Thaulandi's league structure has been altered somewhat. Before, there were 2 leagues of 9 (2*9=18, so 18 teams for all 18 towers of the country). Now, there is a league of 10 and one of 8 to avoid odd bye round regulations. Promotion/relegation still involves four teams total (2 from TNL1, 2 from TNL2).

Until so far, no Rugby team has ever managed to keep the title two seasons in a row. This is not very surprising: teams are pretty equal and we're only four seasons in. That said, only Vulpecula has two titles:

The three teams that have so far been champions are still the teams that are projected to be first, second and third in the next league.

Monoceros, last time's champion, has done a free fall to 8th place, where only Corona Borealis and Phoenix are below him. These two teams are by far the weakest of all (38 and 17 points, vs. 70-53 for the rest... There are five teams between 58 and 53 points), but the situation at the top is more or less as expected. Lyra is the new champion for a year, Vulpecula did not continue their reign, and Aquila did exceptionally well.

Gridiron Season 4

Conference Phase:

In the North Conference, Jeknolr and Enlifl finished in the top spots, though the difference between the two was very small. The two bottom teams are also clearly defined. Overall, the Northern Conference was extremely close this year: if you're looking for a team to root for, and you want close games and tension until the last match day, pick a team from here!

In the Northwest Conference, the Capitals are looking to winning the league once more. After their season 1 success, they've been struggling. Meanwhile, Alara have taken the throne from them in season 2, making this a very strong conference with two of the strongest teams coming from this. For the rest, the other four teams have been fighting for a middle league place. If you're looking to bandwagon, pick Ko-oren or Alara!

In the Southwest Conference, the differences were even bigger. Tireniun and Endev, the latter being current champions, finished first and second with three points difference (which is not that much). But for the rest, the difference between 4th and 5th (middle-low league difference) was 6 points! Not as exciting as the other two conference so far, but SWC teams make for very good teams in the League phase!

In the South Conference, Tangku and Engbrothun have been dominating their conference. Both finishing at 25 points, they're the top two qualifiers for the top league, leaving all other teams in their conference far, far, far behind them (10 p!) Meanwhile, Norilya are very distinct third, and Branvun, Kastundun and Ursannun are very close together, with Branvun lucking out and going to the middle league. Looking for talented teams? Here they are!

In the East Conference, the last conference, Kangutsu finished last. It is not common for us to consider the last team first, but they became the second team ever since the installment of the international championship that finished 0-10. The Kastundun Kytes were the last ones, and now it's Kangutsu, despite good results in the last season. The other five teams are all very close together, only separated by six points. Unfortunately for Etena, their 15 points were only good enough for fifth place, making them by far(!) the best team in the low league this season. Looking for a team in a conference that is absolutely unpredictable? Look no further than the East Conference!

Southwest's Tireniun Wai are the new champions! In the fourth season, we've had four different championship teams and now Tireniun Wai are the second team from their conference to seize the championship! The score is Northwest 2 - Southwest 2 - Rest of the country - 0. Uzhotu Reflect are only at a 5th place, meaning they'll not qualify for the international season, yet they also have 15 points... Kangutsu State Shells, the 0-10 from the Conference Phase, upped their game and finished 26/30 all around in the end. The Kytes and the Skies finished last this year, making this the second consecutive season that these two teams are in last place (actually, the Skies have been last now for three years).

Maethoru are back on their throne after two years of absense. These two years had Branvun as champion who are now back in their no. 2 spot. Liju complements the top three of teams this year, as there is a gap between them and the last Globe Cup competitor, Tangku. Kangutsu have an extraordinary season finishing 5th, just short of the perfect end to a season (Globe Cup qualification). Jeknolr look good with their 6th place, but they are 8 points short of a higher place. They, Kthosl, Norilya and Othushun have some reconsidering to do as they all are used to much better seasons, as Othushun for instance have played in the Globe Cup for a while, too. Norilya just can't seem to make the step to a top team and stay in the sub-top to mid-table zone for a long time. New team Mazaj have the ultimate season: 10th and therefore in the first half of the table!

Viltsr has not improved a lot since last season and are therefore once again confined to a mid-table spot. Hail is also a relatively new team like Mazaj and show that the bottom of the League is nothing for them, good 12th place for them! Vnoskjulung is on the way down, after years and years of top-half finishes. Vnoskjulung need a new positive impuls, but can they recover? Kol is used to 8-12 spots, yet now they disappoint badly. Ajongka, Uzhotu and Arelothun are back where they usually finish, but at least they leave the two newest teams of the League below them. Engbrothun did not have this luck, and are 19th. Jattulnar and Laridju surely hoped for a better season now that they might fall back to the second level already after one year.

Selesi, Alara and Tkhon are the top three of this league, this year and are rewarded with a playoff spot. Katrun is the best of the rest with 59 points, they too play for a KNL spot. Insin, Ningabasa, Hogone, Iliju and Sturng know what it is like to play in the KNL but they all disappointed. Ko-oren Capitals, the team that looked most forward to play in the KNL once again, have at least one more year of worrying in the KNL 2.

Minato-shi is the champion of this division of the third level, yet the South Division was actually exciting. Aurora, Diamond Dust and Endev came very close to the winners. Wui, KNL team until recently, need to get back on it, with a disappointing 9th place finish.

Lastly there's the KNL 3E. In the East Division of the third level, Fori left a small margin to Saiwu, who in their turn left a small margin to Supercell... Sishinova, until recently a KNL team, came close but still needed three more victories. They'll too need something extra next year to get back to where they were.

This is the final standing of the Thaulandian National League: Tower 8 has won it! They've been sure of the victory for a while, having four points left to Tower 6. Tower 11 is very far behind the level of the rest of the TNL 1, they only had one victory and 10 points less than Tower 1 in ninth place.

Most of the teams that played in the Top League last season, are back in it. One odd exception is the Ko-oren Capitals; though they were the second best team last season, they fell back to the Middle League this year. The Mazaj Monos take their place. Always expect the unexpected in a conference with three class teams in it. Another weird absence is the Engbrothun Destroyers: they were the overall third team last season! They fell back to a fourth (!) place in their conference, just saving them from the Low League.

Another interesting thing to note: the KGL will record the relative strength of conferences against each other. They released a memo saying that bad conferences would eventually go back to only one Top League spot, yet this is unconfirmed. The method used by KGL to measure this relative strength is also unknown as of now.

Congratulations to the Alara Astronauts in seizing the championship! Tangku City Isis was extremely close: both had 21 points but AA had a +42 PD, while TCI had +41... Further congratulations to Endev Explosions and Tireniun Wai for their qualification.

In the Middle League, the expected domination of Ko-oren Capitals and Engbrothun Destroyers was hardly existent. They did finish in 1st and 2nd place, but by the smallest of margins. ED had 15 points along with another four teams.

In the Low League, Aj Uin State Skies finished last, as is almost a given, but the Kastundun Kytes managed to fight off the 29th overall place and left Kangutsu State Shells in second-to-last place.

Lyra is now the first team ever in the history of the Ko-orenite Rugby League to keep the championship. They sure seem to establish a domination in the league, too: they have 80 points, which is 14 more than Vulpecula. Vulpecula is not a bad team - just check their record in the Seasogs - but they came short by a large margin. Also, the PD of Lyra is +195, an unprecedented and massive difference with the rest of the teams. They have 80 points - another record. Vulpecula has a point more than last season, meaning they too are better and better, but no team can even remotely stand up against Lyra. Checking the last few seasons, this seasons' Vulpecula is one of the best teams ever, if only Lyra wouldn't have been in the league. Andromeda fought their way up from sixth place, and now they're back further at the top, which is nothing too new for them. Cassiopeia and Aquila are the sub-top, while the one has a positive PD and the other a negative PD. Monoceros, a team that used to be with the top four at least, has a second consecutive bad season and they have to work hard to get out of it before this is their new status quo. Phoenix, the usual number 10, finished a very good 7th, leaving both Corona's at the bottom this time. Cygnus ranks nicely between the three.

Handball Season 3

Ko-oren North University reclaimed the championship, as they were also the best of the country in Season 1. Hogone Capital University, Season 2's champion, fell back to second place, allowing universities from the capital to dominate (1st and 2nd place). The champion finished on a very large margin to number 2, as well. It also seems that the natural hierarchy of the league has been decided, the KNHA should act against this: the same four teams as last season qualified. For the rest, most of the teams finished close to their last season finish.

The Jeweled Challengers came a little short to surprise the four playoff teams of the Northwestern Conference, which means the same four teams will represent the NWC as last year. Even then, the Challengers just did not overtake the Fire Chariots. The Sun's Regents and the Gold Generals were pretty close together, and the Silver Admirals were absolutely dominating the NWC. This difference is even bigger than last year, when the Silver Admirals had 177 points (versus 184 now). The NWC might look into the option of making the Conference more balanced again, though the last thing they would like to accomplice is to weaken the league against the Southeastern Conference.

In the SEC, the top four had a big difference to the rest. The same teams will play in the playoff, compared to last year. This means all eight teams are the same as last year. The differences between teams in the SEC were not as big as in the NWC, though. The Vintage Cowboys ended above the Classy Farmers and the Lava Bearers by a small margin, and the Farmers and the Bearers had the exact same number of wins. The Charging Hounds did get themselves some distance from the 5th placed team. At the bottom, the Red Doctors ended up last, over both Conferences, with 39 points, only 2/3rds of the second worst team.

The Cowboys completely dominated the Admirals in the finals: while the previous rounds were best of 7, the Cowboys showed that even best of 9 doesn't scare them! They won all five (first) games against the Admirals, including scorelines such as 10-3 and 6-1.

Typically, the KRL champion has a terrible season one season later. Monoceros fell back from 1st to 8th, and Lyra taking the championship later. But wait... Lyra took the championship again! They took the title on the last day, where Vulpecula dropped points against Corona Australis of all teams. Lyra did win (13-6 v. Aquila), and took the title. Performing well, against the odds, against a very good team (3rd ranked team) takes skill, and Lyra are the first one to not fall back terribly after one title... Which also means they are the first team to keep the title home! In third and fourth place, Aquila and Monoceros both have 60 points, just above Cassiopeia's 57 points. On the last day, Aquila and Monoceros both lost and Cassiopeia won, which means that the gap was slightly bigger until match day 36. Andromeda, Cygnus and Corona Australis all finished on 44 points, and the table position may not suggest it, but the teams really fought for it to edge out over one another. Andromeda was on 41 points at the start of MD36 and got just enough points against Monoceros to take the sixth place on PD. At the bottom, Phoenix and Corona Borealis are creeping up on the rest of the teams, compared to last year.
