Well, the dream is at an end. Regardless, that has to be one of the more epic runs in recent WC history and I promise to name a city after every one of the glorious Euran footballing heroes.

They will also get free money. And I'm putting Lee Sharp into the hall of fame.

Almost forgot, congratulations Arch, winner of the Qualifying Group 4 final ;)

Congrats to Arch/THE, and many thanks to TBI, Saugeais, Yeso, and Ancharmunn for running the tournaments! I wasn't able to RP as much as I wanted to, but it was definitely a great cycle! Good luck to everyone next time.

The Holy Empire reaction:
WOOT!!!

My thanks to the hosts of both tournaments for two exceptionally well-run events, and my commiserations to both FSSO and Qazox.

A cup final RP to come later today; exceptionally busy at work this week.

Congrats Arch!

Also, for my WC61 Rps, I thought I may try and write a novel-like story about the childhood of two newcomers to my National Team, who both grew up in the same town, one very rich and posh, and the other as a member of a gang. I won't give away too much, just a warning/teaser :p
Also, this is my 1000th post! :)

It is intended to serve as a breakpoint at which we begin to consider nations that weren't in the last Cup. I am not wedded to 23, but looking at the list of scores at time of induction on the NSWiki page that number seemed to stand out.

Here are the numbers for the top contenders not yet in the Hall. Note that even if no active nation gets the rest of the way to 23 for the next five Cups -- an unlikely assumption -- the floor would serve until World Cup 66. An alternative might be to take the highest nation from the most recent Cup unless there is a non-active nation at least (5? 3?) points higher.

The next nations who made it into WC60 are on 13, 8, 8, 8, 7, 7. And FSSO will be on either 6 or 7.

On a separate note, I invite the community to consider for additional induction the one nation not in the Hall whose contribution to the NS World Cup has without doubt been most enduring. In addition to a respectable SRS of 20 across 13 Cups, ranked #70 all-time, Kaze Progressa forever changed the face of this tournament as the KP of the KPB rankings. From World Cup 9 on, this system has proved remarkably durable and effective in quantifying the first of the tournament's three R's. (Incidentally, the B stands for Bedistan who have been in the Hall from WC 11 and rank #3 all-time.)

If a Hall of Fame should recognise nations that have made timeless contribution to this event, then I suggest that Kaze Progressa belongs.

I agree that Kaze Progressa belongs in the WCNTHoF and it is long over due.

Also, thank you to those who were willing to give Casaran system a chance in the World Cup qualifiers. I'm sure this won't be the end of it.

Speaking as someone who is basically targeting a spot in the CoH at best, it would be a lot of fun to see the Casaran system there, giving it more exposure with a potentially bigger tournament.

That said, congrats to ASMV and Valanora. It was fun to be able to participate in the hosting decision for the first time in RL years, with two impressive bids.

I don't mind using the Casaran/Swiss system in a BoF or CoH, but I like the fact that the WC is the traditional bedrock of our cycle. Given the fact that we explicitly say there must be 32 teams in the finals, because it is so in real life, I would be in favour of adding an amendment to the Constitution that enshrines the requirement of having group stages (the makeup of which are to be decided by the hosts) during qualifying.

Now I prepare for the people in favour of a system which allows them to qualify easier Casaran system to flame me and call me a fucking idiot.

Well, I won't go so far as to flame, but I was in favour of some innovation this WC.

The Baptisms of Fire and Cups of Harmony have a lot more flexibility in them, and seem to be more fun overall to RP from. The WC (granted, before I came along) used to have lots of different formats, but it seems now that we're doomed to the same format that doesn't really excite me much anymore. Having group stages like that just make things boring in my view, and at least if qualifying formats are allowed to be altered, it gives another thing to think about in WC voting these days.

At the moment, it just seems like who has the most favourable scorinator wins, and it should really be about more in my eyes. I say open it up to innovation!

Erm, care to show when the WC last didn't use a group stage qualifying? I'm not sure how you can say we used to "have lots of different formats"; the only difference cup to cup was how many groups/teams in each group there were, and the subsequent size/style of playoffs.

An idea I would be slightly more open to trying is having small groups to cut down on qualification time, but make the playoffs larger (maybe 1.5 to 2 times as large) and try to have those playoffs Swiss style.
