I'm not complaining, the 2ppg I obtained this cup actually meant my rank went up - due to me having a disastrous WC66 and only achieving 1.7ppg.

Regardless, when I get some time, probably tomorrow, I'll work out the average ppg of all nations qualifying in the last 10 cups, just so there's a correct statisical weighting to either side of the argument.

On the contrary, I'm a little surprised I got in so soon. Doesn't feel like I've been around that long. Still feels like I'm crashing the party sometimes, actually.

Thanks though :)

Congrats Valladares and Osarius. Looking at the rankings, Pasarga are the only active footballing nation anywhere near induction, and will be guaranteed with a second round appearance in the next finals (barring miracle runs by returning nations)

Also, I've just noticed that this thread has a maximum of 20 pages to go before hitting the limiter...

Well guys, I'm back. I'd like to apologize for vanishing off the face of the earth for the past couple of weeks, I've just had a lot going on between vacations, camp, and other shiz. I've also decided to switch to this nation from GAS. If you could please apply all rankings and other information from GAS to me, that would be just dandy. BTW, I wont be continuing Adler Sport, but I will be taking orders via TG. I might be opening up a new storefront in the near future, but I haven't decided yet.

Belated congrats to the winners of both the WC and CoH, as well as the runner ups, and special thanks to all the hosts. The RPs also were great to read, of what I could get to around RL and other NS biz. It has been a pleasure to be a part of this WC cycle and I look forward to the next one.

Just to throw my flatcap into the ring regarding the debate about the hosts' KPB points, I don't think many of the users with nations in the top 20 of the rankings (ie those who lose out a little during hosting runs) see the small drop in KPB points as an obstacle to hosting.

That said, I'd be in favour of changing the 2KPB-per-match figure to something else if it went to vote. 2.2 seems like a fair arbitrary increase, though if anyone is willing to do the maths and find a more accurate representation of the average KPB points per game for a qualified team, I'd be happy to use that number instead.

A similar message from me. This is the first time I've even looked at NS in over a week, and I can't see the situation improving in the near future.

Also, I agree that hosts should receive a bigger qualifying score in the rankings, to reflect the higher qualifying totals across the board in these days of megacups. Probably slightly below average for qualifiers, though, as remember that they do get home advantage in the finals, and so would be expected to perform well there.

Regarding the host average issue per WC Qualifying phase, two points as average is even generous considering that just few teams in the Qualifiers reach tat average, I'd like to suggest to keep it in two, considering the effort of the hosts in hosting an event of such magnitude.

I have to disagree. Hosts automatically qualify, so they should be given ranking points rougly equating to the average qualifiying nation rather than a fifth seed who hardly RPs (guilty as charged, bad timing for a holiday). Furythermore, your argument about the effort hosts put in baffles me. Hosts have to put in a lot of effort, but surely that is a reason to reward them more rather than keep a system which penalises them, even if slightly?

RE: The World Cup Signups.

The previous plan of "anybody placing a bid automatically triggering the signup process" still stands, but in case of no bids - as in the last cup - I will give it a week or so before opening signups anyway.

Please do think about if you want to bid or not. And, whilst I appreciate this may go a little against the 'junior' bidder part of the hypothethised four-way hosting deal, considering this me throwing my hat into the ring with The Fallenmark Islands to be one of those four hosts. Provided, of course, that Fallenmark are one of the two hosts who don't receive an automatic berth (hence the probable 'junior' position). That would be daft.

Thanks.

But you could argue that automatically qualifying is gift enough in itself this day in age when making the finals isn't even a guarantee for a top 5 nation who RP's no less a 5th seed that doesnt. and as the data already presented shows, 2 points per game is more than the worst-performing nation that qualifies got in the recent world cups, which was around 1.9ppg.

If anything, the argument for changing it now is weaker than it would have ever been, because the reward is far more valuable than it ever was (Guaranteed progression into the finals)

Apologies for my recent disappearance - and the lack of a WC69 winning RP.

For a variety of personal reasons (no major crises, I stress; health or otherwise), I've been taking an NS sabbatical for the last three weeks while also limiting my online time.

Next week I'll also be on Mount Athos, so will have no internet access anyway.

I will try and get that WC69 RP posted before Monday, though.

Again, my apologies if there's been any inconvenience here.

Following a round of 24 exit in the Campionato Esportiva, the JFB have relieved manager Lee Evans of his position and are searching for a new national team manager. The manager would be able to bring in his own coaching staff. I'm open to all sorts of tactics and stuff, but I'm looking for a manager who has enough experience to manage a team of Jeckland's stature (ranked 99th, though will be lower by WC70Q with the loss of my fairly high BoF bonus). TG your managers to Jeckland, along with any coaching staff, previous experience, tactis and other information, I will pick based on IC experience and the level of detail given to me in the TG.

Just back at my family home clearing out my old bedroom and I've dug up some old drawings that I did way back when I was a nipper and had since forgotten about. Thought you guys might like to know that apparently Nationstates is just a vehicle for my kit designing and nation-building, both of which appear to go way back...

Well your art then is better than mine now. No really. I made Homer Simpson look like a duck without even meaning to.

Yours is better than mine. I can only draw one thing. I don't know what it is but everything I draw looks like it. :p I also once got detention for drawing a mean picture of my Spanish teacher even though it was supposed to be a nice picture but only made her look fat and ugly because I'm a terrible artist.

Me too. I like drawing cities and lands and I know what a few of my NS Cities look like. Is drawing peices of land accepted in a football bid?

Oh also, what can I partcipate in to raise my rank?

As in, a bid to host? Technically most things are 'accepted' in a bid to host, but a nice picture of a city isn't preferable to the more vital OOC information and would in no way replace it. It's IC padding. Nice, attractive, but not essential.

Ranking in the KPBs? The only events that affect that are the BoF, WC qualifying, the WC itself, and the CoH.
