WSCS 5 HOST BID

Image

A forty competitor field will vie for the title of world champion over an eleven race schedule consisting of mostly ovals.

The scorinator to be used is NASCAR Racing Season 2003. Normally a video game/simulator would be frowned upon as a scorinator, but NR2003 provides a ratings system that gives the competitor control over how he or she would like his/her driver to behave at certain types of tracks. It was used in the previous two editions of NSSCRA with success.

HOW DO THE RATINGS WORK?

There are two columns for each category: maximums and minimums. The maximum is the highest possible rating your driver will be on a given race; the minimum is the lowest. The game uses an algorithm to randomly select a number between the maximum and minimum that will determine what rating your driver will carry on race day for each category. For most ratings higher is better, but there are two that aren't. Aggression is the first; it determines how aggressive your driver will be on raceday. The more aggressive you are the more prone you are to driver errors. Pit Strategy is the second; it determines how willing you are to take risks with pit strategy in order to win a race (2 tires or no tires vs. taking 4 tires, taking a half can of fuel vs. a full can, etc.). Again, gambling can have its consequences, so a higher rating here is not always necessarily better.

For those two categories you will choose both the maximum and minimum ratings for your driver. For all other categories you will choose a set range for each rating.

Ratings: An Explanation.

NASCAR Racing 2003 uses a ratings system to determine how good a driver is. Each category has a minimum (the worst you could possibly be) and a maximum (the best you could possibly be) rating.

SECTION ONE: DRIVER

AGGRESSION: How aggressive a driver is. The minimum and maximum may be any number between ZERO and ONE HUNDRED, although competitors should be warned: Higher aggression can lead to more driver errors and is not always necessarily better than low aggression.

THE OTHER SEVEN:
Determine how consistent a driver is, his/her ability to finish races, qualifying ability, and attributes for specific types of tracks.

Consistency
Finishing
Qualifying
Road Course
Short Track
Speedway
Super Speedway

VEHICLE:

These ratings determine the quality of your machine.

Aerodynamics
Chassis
Engine
Reliability

PIT CREW:

How good your pit crew is.

Consistency
Speed
Strategy*

Strategy, like aggression, may be as high or low as you desire. It is a measure of how willing you are to take risks in pit strategy and like aggression, higher is not always better.

NOTE: When you see this part of the form:
Rookie?(Y/N):
First Time Participating in NSSCRA?(Y/N):

If your driver has never competed in a NSSCRA season, your driver is a rookie.
The second question refers to whether you as a nation have participated before in NSSCRA.

You may enter up to four drivers, but if it gets to the point where a lot of nations are signing up the fourth drivers will be dropped, then the third, then the second if necessary. Thus, please list them in order of preference.

RP BONUS
A quality RP will earn you six points added to your maximums across the board

A decent RP will earn you three points to be added to your minimums across the board.

A crappy RP will earn you no points, as will not RPing.

RP bonus will only count towards the next race.

CARS/ENTRANTS
There will be a field cutoff at 42 entries.

If there are over 42 competitors and the fourth/third drivers have to be cutoff there will be a support series (Which I'll take the liberty of naming it the World Late Model Sportsman Championship) run to accompany 5 races. Only one driver from each nation may run the WLSC.

YOU DO NOT HAVE TO PAINT YOUR CAR IF YOU DON'T WANT.
-If this is the case I will put your drivers' number and name on the car as well as your nation's flag. Pick your color if you want.
-Or, you can request a paint from another nation who are skilled with GIMP/Photoshop

IF YOU DO WANT TO PAINT YOUR OWN CAR:

For the first third time in NSSCRA you will actually be able to choose what your car looks like. There are templates available to paint on your own or you can request that I or anyone else who offers to paint them for you, which we will happily oblige. Email your car paints to whittoria@yahoo.com once they are finished. There are only two rules to painting the cars:

1.) No obscenities

2.) Numbers must be clearly visible on both doors and on the roof facing the driver's window

Drivers are encouraged to have a paint scheme that reflects their national colors or is in their international racing colors (Whittoria's have traditionally been white or navy blue); however, this is not a requirement.

POINTS SYSTEM

If all agree, a system that rewards victories and top tens will be used.

The polesitter will be awarded 5 points.
Leading a lap gains you 5 points.
Leading the most laps nets you 15 points.

Race finishing points:
1,200
2,99
3,98
4,97
5,96
6,94
7,92
8,90
9, 88
10, 86

36, 1
37, 0
38, 0
39, 0
40, 0
41, 0
42, 0

If the general consensus is against this then we'll use the traditional NASCAR point system used up until 2004.

And, finally, NO PUPPETS.

EDIT:

HOME RACE BONUSES:

-Nations hosting a race will receive a five point home race bonus to their ratings.
-Nations who do not host a race on the schedule will receive a five point bonus at a track they are rated best for.

Driver Name: Alex Whitt
Age: 28
Experience: NSSCRA 3 & 4, WAC Grand National Series (1973-present), Whittoria 500 champion (2), Pat Ognurn Memorial 500 champion
Team Name: Whittoria Engineering
CAR NUMBER: 44
Short Bio, Driving Style (Picture if you like):
A two time WAC Grand National Champion, The Mayor returns for another crack at international stock car competition. A more aggressive driving style than previously exercised has Whitt believing he can come home with a top five finish in points, perhaps even the whole shebang. Is strong on the super speedways and intermediates, but struggles on the road courses and short tracks, despite being raised on half miles with his brother.

Experience: NSSCRA 3 &4, WAC Grand National Series (1971-present), Whittoria 500 Champion
Team Name: Whittoria Engineering
CAR NUMBER: 56
Short Bio, Driving Style (Picture if you like):
The Funkmaster is one of Whittoria's most dominant short track drivers. He has one championship to his name in the WAC, having locked up the 1973 title with six races to go in the season. His smooth, yet aggressive driving style gives him his nickname, although depending on the number of short tracks on the schedule he may struggle on the bigger tracks. A fierce competitor with a big heart, he and his brother have worked hard to get where they are today. As their father once told them: "We're Whitts; nothing in life will ever be easy for us." After coming up short in WSCS 4, Whitt is looking to take the title this year.

We're using a new ratings system this season, so it'd probably be a good idea to fill out the form.
I did the football and racing thing. I also was good at writing dumb stuff.

COMMITE RACING DU SICOUTIMONT/RACING ASSOCIATION OF SICOUTIMONT
We are proud to announce the entry of a great young driver in the NSSCRA field. We also suggest a track available for this series to run at. More information below.

RACE FORM:
Race Name: Sicoutimont 400 Presented by Mont-Rouge Tourism
Track: Ile de Loups SuperSpeedway
Track Length: 2 miles
Race Distance: 200 laps
Any interesting attributes about your track (average temperatures on race day, tire wear, etc.; there will be things I can edit in the track's configuration files): This race course takes place on an island, and weather temperature is often lower than normal. Normal temperatures for the August U19 Series race is often around 15 degrees celsius. Tire wear due to this is often high, and most teams have a 30-45 lap pit window. Ile de Loup is in the rainy part of Sicoutimont, and Summer/Spring days are often wet. The rare days they are not, the temperature is about 20 degrees celsius.

Driver Name: Simon de Aurelonts
Age: 18
Experience: Multiple years in the U19 Sicoutian Driving Championships
Team Name: Mont-Rouge Tourism Racing
CAR NUMBER: 62
Short Bio, Driving Style (Picture if you like): Simon, just 18, was born at the wheel. He won 5 go-karting championships all between the ages of 9 to 14. As he progressed through the ranks, he joined the U19-SDC. He was at the top right away. Simon won the Rookie of the Year, and was 4th in Driver Points. The Riviere St-Denis native is preparred to take his aggressive driving style to the world. All is just beginning for the 18 year old Sicoutian Legend.
Rookie?(Y/N): Y
First Time Participating in NSSCRA?(Y/N): Y

Signups updated through New Tebow.

If your driver has an italicised number beside his/her name it's because that number was used by a different nation last season. If they choose to use that number you must choose a different one.

If your driver has question marks instead of numbers, someone has already signed up with that number and you must choose a different one.
