Okay guys. If you want to discuss gridiron safety go to General. This is NSSport, and so this thread should only be used to discuss your domestic leagues, ask about how to run such a league, and discuss how we are going to run a Champions' League type tournament.
Any discussion about player safety and such, take it elsewhere. It doesn't belong here.

1) As has already been pointed out, discussion of real life NFL safety issues should be taken to General. OOC discussion threads in NS Sports should be limited to discussion of NS Sports events.

2) Carmadin, you're not a mod. I appreciate you're trying to be helpful, but let's try and avoid hinting that people are engaging in actionable behaviour. Free South Califas may have allowed his thread to get derailed slightly, but he hasn't flamed or trolled.

How about IFGA (International Federation of Gridiron Associations) Champion's Bowl?
If we are going through with the secondary tournament, the Terra Bowl? Its a pretty obvious play off the Globe Cup, yet I like it

Also, I have a question that my mind kept bugging me about:
For the non-group-stage rounds of the Champion's Bowl, should the games be single-legged? Just that ICly, 2 games may be a bit much on players. A single game at the higher-ranked team? (Group stages will be 6 games)

Eh, sounds like it's 10 games for the winner, that's already firmly in Fantasyland unless our domestic leagues only happen every two years. That's a complete college season, so 14 games isn't less realistic in any meaningful way AFAICT. Or 11 (often I have the first or last knockout stage of my domestic tournament two-legged)

Not huge on "Terra Bowl", just don't like the ring of it. How about Atlas Bowl?

Isn't that the case no matter what? Most leagues appear to have at least 13-14 game seasons plus playoffs from what I can tell. So unless this "Champions' League" tournament is straight knockout (like the Cygnus Cup, but for national championship winners, for example), its gonna be unrealistic anyway, because for a group stage alone you're looking at 3-4 games, plus knockout rounds, and possibly preliminaries to get a workable number... at a guess, for that format you'd need at least 8 games. Thats over 20 games for the winner, Superbowl winners play 20 games at most. *shrug*

So the real question is... are you going for realism or just a knockout tournament between domestic gridiron teams from different nations? If the former, a rethink is in order, perhaps. If the latter, does it matter how many games a team plays?

For what its worth, I'd recommend a seeded single-elimination tournament, like the old European Champion Clubs' Cup (or on NSSports, the Cygnus Cup) where each nation sends their champion, and the holders enter too. For the inaugural tournament, you could just have the host nation send an invitee or something if the numbers are weird, or have a preliminary/qualifying round for the lowest seeds. For seeding, first time out, just use World Bowl rankings (as its the only indicator of gridiron talent levels between nations that we have right now) and then something akin to the actual World Bowl rankings system from that point on. Seemplez.

That's exactly what I'm saying, just to be clear. For the record, I advocate the fantasy route rather than the realistic route, but that's just me.

I'd rather see a competitive, though fantasy Champions League (Bowl) than a realistic one that you can win playing only a few matches because it messes with realism. My season has about 38 matches. I defenestrate realism

The cutoff for the first IFGA Champion's Bowl will be approximately June 25th, +/- a day.

Each nation will be permitted to send up to four teams, multinational leagues will be allowed six teams, of which no more than four may be from the same association.

Also, what are we doing with the secondary tournament? Ditching it? Is HLO scorinating it? What are we calling it?
