El Mini Campeonato Mundial de Futsal

I have been juggling yet another idea on my head and this time it is a mini Futsal tournament . So what's so special about this? It will be a eight nation's tournament.
Scorination will be provided by xkorante, under the Futsal section. The purpose of this tournament is to add in some Futsal tournaments out in NS Sports.
So yeah,it will be a single-legged group stage, with the semi-finals and then the finals with the third place play off.All will be done without a week, that's why I am keeping it small and manageable.

This thread shall be the everything thread .
Other stuff such as venues and other stuff will be publish at a later date.

Team Starts Off Slow

The Abcdefghijklmnopqrstuk Futsal Team began play at El Mini Campeonato Mundial de Futsal yesterday, losing to The Icemark 3-4. The game took place at Taroja Funoia Stadium in Mapletish, where a full crown watched the game with bated breath. The first half began when The Icemark forward #1 scored in the 4th minute after a nice pass from Defender #1. After this, goalkeeper Michel Kusa was substituted off with an apparent wrist injury after colliding with Forward #2, allowing Forward #1 to slip past him for the goal. The Abdian team wanted a foul called, but the referee would not blow his whistle and The Icemark scored.

In the 11th minute, Forward #2 struck, with a shot on a breakaway with backup goalkeeper Coy Blasetti. The forward had taken the ball from Garrett Cheney and sprinted up the pitch, beating Blasetti with a shot to the low left corner. The Abdian fans in the stand were quieted now, and it got even quieter when two minutes later, Forward #1 struck with his second goal with a fast strike to the top right corner that beat Blasetti. Coach Garry Cedeno was visibly upset at his team's performance, screaming at his players. Antonio Lindey, formerly a starter on the team, was substituted on for Cheney now to play in the defense.

Time was winding down in the first half, with just over a minute left, when Forward #1 lost the ball in the Abdian half. Lindey maintained possession and sent a lob over the head of Defender #1. Palmer Manetti ran past the defense, trapping the ball and turning towards the goal, one-on-one with the keeper. He faked left and shot to the low right corner. Goalkeeper #1 just got a tip on it, but the follow up from Brett Mallard hit the back of the net, prompting cheers from the Abdian section. The game was 3-1 Icemark at the half.

ABK came out with rejuvenated energy in the second half, quickly taking the ball and keeping it in The Icemark's half. Shot after shot by Manetti and Mallard was turned away by the Icemark keeper, who had an excellent game. Manetti said later, "If it wasn't for him, we would have won 6-4 or 7-4." The Icemark took advantage of the Abdian offense focus, counter-attacking a few times, braking through in the 27th minute, after a through ball from Defender #2, Forward #2 scored his second goal, slotting the ball through Blasseti's legs. The team slumped back to the kickoff circle.

But something happened that sparked life into the Abdian offense, In the 33rd minute, Defender #2 tackled Palmer Manetti, leaving the Abdian legend writhing on the ground. The referee gave only an indirect kick, something that made the Abdian side angry. Manetti was substituted off for Maynard McGill, the youngest player on the Abdian squad. Two minutes later, McGill scored off of a header, jumping over Defender #2 and smacking the ball into the net with his forehead. But there was not enough time for the Abdians. Mallard scored once more int he 39th minute, but Abcdefghijklmnopqrstuk could not equalize. Still, if ABK plays like they did in the last eight minutes, they look forward to a very successful tournament.

Ko-orenite Sports Network

Want to see an entertaining team?

For a change, don't watch the Ko-oren game! Ko-oren has a history of being in the most scoring match of a match round, this usually means that Ko-oren is among both the best scoring and most conceding teams. This was a difference: not only was the Ko-oren match the least scoring, Ko-oren also did not get even one in.

(Ko-oren) 0–4 (Bloodbath Generation)

Ko-oren lost 4-0 in the opening match of the Mini Campeonato Mundial de Futsal (MCMF/EMCMF) against Bloodbath Generation. All teams competing in the cup are in one big league, thus it is easy to compare teams, yet the obvious conclusion is obvious: Ko-oren is last after one match. Still all teams play all other teams once, so there is enough time to fix the damage.

The team is made up of several players that - now or in recent history - have played in the National Football team. After some 'friendly' matches, it was decided that the ten players to be sent to the tournament were the ones that were present yesterday in the Taroja Funoia Stadium (Cap: 43,124), though many of their colleagues were in the crowd in Green and Blue. After the national anthems sounded, Hoki, Musashi, Fenner, Idrasil and Tokachi were ready to begin the first futsal tournament for their country ever. It was soon decided that the futsal scene - or the players - needed some more time to prepare for the tournament.

1st/5th m. 0-1
1st/15th m. 0-2
2nd/18th m. 0-3
2nd/19th m. 0-4

was the scoreline, and on average, Ko-oren conceded a goal per ten minutes. In reality, this was true for the first half, one-sided it may have been in favor of BG. The second half was when the entire team was substituted (not all at once! Just one at a time, during the first half), and this was some improvement. Just before the end of the match, BG scored twice more to finish at 4-0. The last goal was in the dying seconds of the match, where Tajik Ob seemed delusional after missing an easy catch - a ball from about 15 yards out. Seems little - but do not forget that this is futsal, with futsal pitch sizes.

Coach Meleager commented: "We just wanted to show our worth here. We were ready to 7-0-0 this tournament, only to find that this is impossible right after the match. It's like the WBC, fighting an uphill battle for just about the entire tournament, and to see in retrospect that you could almost tie with the number one in that same tournament. I don't want to point any fingers yet, but mark my words: either we will become first, or last"

Ko-orenite Sports Network

Done With Mapletish' Shenanigans!

Don't know where to start: so many typical Ko-orenite sporting traditions either ended or restarted yesterday. We had nine goals in one match: Ko-oren are back with the top scoring and top conceding teams, as usual. Though due to the zero goals from the first round, Ko-oren are currently the lowest scoring team of the competition. We beat Mapletish: something that never really occurred so far: in any tournament in any sport, be it football, basketball, or baseball, Mapletish always took the points home. Until yesterday:

(Mapletish) 4–5 (Ko-oren)

Glorious victory! The hosts now are in sixth place, and Ko-oren moved up from 8th (yes, that's last place) to the fifth. The only other opponent Ko-oren has faced so far was Bloodbath Generation, and they won again and are perfect so far: 2-0-0. Ko-oren is 1-0-1, Mapletish 0-1-1. Filopines (2nd) recorded the biggest win yesterday: 6-1 over Soviet Canuckistan (7th). The Northern Sunrise Islands are last (8th), though they fell only a little short in their match against ABK (3rd). The differences are not that big, overall.

1st/10th m. 0-1: Tokachi
1st/12th m. 1-1: V. Aleĉjo
1st/18th m. 2-1: V. Aleĉjo
1st/20th m. 3-1: Anĉjo
------
2nd/2nd m. 3-2: Tokachi
2nd/6th m. 3-3: Talmis
2nd/12th m. 4-3: A. Johano
2nd/15th m. 4-4: Idrasil
2nd/18th m. 4-5: Tokachi

The difference in scoring between the first and the second half are clearly visible: Ko-oren scored only one in the first half, then four in the second. Mapletish did the opposite: scoring 3 in the first half, then only one in the second. The match got under way slowly, though once Tokachi scored the opening goal for Ko-oren, Mapletish substituted their defenders. This boosted the entire team: Aleĉjo scored twice, and Anĉjo scored another one in the space of eight minutes, at the end of the first half.

The second half started like the first one with a goal by Tokachi. Only this time, Talmis made sure to score the 3-3 before Mapletish could return the favor. They did, only six minutes later: Johano scored the 4-3. In the remaining eight minutes of the match, Ko-oren scored two: Idrasil and Tokachi, the latter got his third of the match in.

KSN Poll

4th. 29%
5th. 25%
6th. 12%
