“Amb Hautas Espetativas – Expecting High – Rasko Itxaropokoak”

“I think I can speak for my country when I say that we wanted to bring the world together in the joy of sport. And even more important, we wanted to show the youths of the multiverse the importance of sport, fair play and good health.

Euskirribakondara has accepted the challenge, and right now, we’re welcoming with open arms the young athletes of the world. I declare the signups open for the First Winter Youth Games, to be held at our capital, Harrikes. Let this be an occasion to party, an occasion to train; come here, expecting high. And do it all for the youth, for the sport, for a better world.”

Vekaiyu Announces Participation in First Youth Games
Reporting for V3 News Services, Rin Slakori

ELDURA - The Vekaiyun Olympic Committee announced today that Vekaiyu will compete in the First Winter Youth Games to be held in Harrikes, Euskirribakondara. The amount and types of athletes have not been disclosed, but the committee did say the selection process would "proceed without interruption or conflict", perhaps alluding to past difficulties with selecting athletes during the regime of Selvala McEva, but it could also be referring to any unforeseen engagements with an increasingly hostile Listonia.

The committee released the following statement shortly after announcing its participation. "The VOC formally recognizes the First Winter Youth Games to be held in Harrikes, Euskirribakondara and accepts invitation to attend it by sending a select group of young athletes to compete. These athletes will compete with young athletes from other nations. Vekaiyu upholds the tradition of friendly athletic competition between nations and believes in the potential positive international impact games such as these tend to encourage. Vekaiyu will announce a delegation in due time."

Premier Levinile also commented on the creation of the First Youth Games. "Vekaiyu looks forward to participating in the First Winter Youth Games and will select its athletes solely under the authority of the Vekaiyun Olympic Committee. It is my hope that these games promote acceptance and tolerance among participating nations, something that the Olympics have done well for several years."

No concrete timetable has been given for the announcement of the Vekaiyun delegation, but it is anticipated some time after Christmas Day.

You could use this info in order to know a bit of Euskirribakondara:

Brief Factbook
2011 World Census Entry

Also check out the rosters thread, there's some information of the other countries' teams.

On each cutoff (and starting here, but this is NOT a cutoff) I'll give some facts about Euskirribakondara:

*The Games are hosted between two clusters: Harrikes and Ganxa Montzoa (Mount Ganxa)... They are separated by 80 kilometers, but a high-speed line runs from the city to the Ski resort... that takes just 12 minutes on each travel (one-way).

*There are 10 official languages in Euskirribakondara, but another 72 are recognized in the territories where they are spoken.

*Economically, Euskirribakondara is almost totally based on the Tourism industry.

*Cars are banned in Euskirribakondara... To move around you must use public transportation (buses, trains, metro, ferry, airplanes) or use the most common ways that the Euskal use to transport themselves... Bikes, segways or long walks.

*Buddhism is the philosophy/religion of most Euskirribakondarians.

A Special Youth Games Edition

Bergnovinaia Fairs Well in Trial Runs at Olympics--Culture Shock Reactions from Bergnovinaians in Attendance at the Games

HARRIKES, EUSKIRRIBAKONDARA With the fling of the torch, the first edition of the Olympic games has ignited. Twenty-three delegations are represented in this pilot edition for young athletes, so to say, making it one of the largest international competitions with multiple sport disciplines. Although not officially endorsed by the International Olympic Chartering Committee and few contenders at the actualy Olympics are in participation, these games are gathering world-wide attention as both parents and grandparents tune in to television sets, radio networks, and other media outlets to get news on how their little loved ones are doing in competition. The Bergnovinaian Ministry for Media (BMM) has predicted that the youth games coverage will yield over 50 million spectators each night, ranking fourth overall in viewer amounts, beating out popular sitcom Oh no! Not my pants! for rounding out the top five.

Bergnovinaia's young and proud put on a great show today in the town of Harrikes (which I will now refer to as simply town H for purposes of not spelling out the incredibly long city name or nation name again). In the boy's ski jumping competition, piano progedy (and apperantly ski-jumping prodegy), Arykton Ectan, took third place in the trials today. Rounding out the top ten in 9th place was fellow team mate, Pat Lundstrom of Horuk. Lundstrom gets little time practicing ski-jumping because of his location far away from many resorts with said demonsration capability, so Lundstrom was highly pleased with his performance, hoping he can improve to medal. Erika Ramsey, another Horukian athlete, took third in the girl's ski-jumping competition, thanking "God" for her great talent and her "grandfather" for "teaching [her] this cool sport." Stephanie Bavonter was close behind in fifth place, with Shandiin Hoten finishing in 7th. Out of any sport, this appears to be Bergnovinaia's greatest chance for getting a medal thus far. Durham, Fuller, and Vanca all had fairly mediocre performances in the boy's skiing halfpipe competition. The three finished middle of the pack, unlike their female counterparts, of which Tina Tured took first place and Leah Saven took third. Tured enters the actual competition as an outstanding favorite, given a probable win rank by Bergnovinaia's Ski Expert Magazine (BSEM) of 53% and a chance of medaling at 78%.

However, the first day of competition did not just yield results in the training rounds or shouts and blazing fires at the opening ceremonies. For many Bergnovinaia's in attendance at these games, it yielded shock. Culture shock. First off, Bergnovinaians are familiar with the countries two main languages; Spanish and English. Bergnovinaians were shocked to hear well over ten distinct languages spoken in and around the games, with the opening ceremonies being broadcast simultaneously in over twenty languages. Bergnovinaians were amazed by this, but utterly confused since they could not understand the English or Spanish translations over the gibberish formed by the melding of languages in the broadcast. Apperantly, town H in country E has over ten official languages (according to NOC officials), with up to seventy-two being recognized in all of country E's territories. One Bergnovianian put it this way:

I can't understand a damn thing they are saying. Yo hablo español y ingles solomente. I don't freaking speak French, or Rwandana, or whatever the heck that was. Yo necesito comprar un diccionario para traducir las palabaras de este pais. I really hope rosetta stone works so I can learn these crazy languages fast!

Bergnovinaians were also shocked to find that the only way around the city and country was by public transportation, walking, or biking. Cars are banned in country E, probably for environmental reasons. This came as a major shock to many Bergnovinaians, especially those who live in rural areas who have never taken part in the vast mass transportation systems of Horuk or other sprawling Bergnovinaian cities, but rather, drive themselves places. Even in Horuk, many people own their own cars unless they live in the immediate downtown area. Smog and high pollution is commonly a problem in the city. However, in town H, that doesn't seem to be as much as a problem. And neither does the problem with pedestrians or bicyclists being hit by cars. With only busus and other forms of public transit on roads with bikes, Bergnovinaians and other tourists can feel free to ambly walk along, literally in the middle of the street.

The final cutlure shock is the omni-prescence of Buddhist temples and monastic establishments. Although there is a small community of Zen Buddhists in Horuk (appx. 2%), the majority of Bergnovinaians are either Christian or Roman Catholic and consider Buddhism, along with Islam and Moronism, to be a cult religion. Bergnovinaians respect all religions, including these ones, but do not necessarily appreciate these peoples' presence in public areas, areas where they believe people are susceptable to conversion to the "cult" religions. Bergnovinaian parliament has taken recent measures to remove this discrimination against these religions, claiming that the protection and respect of all religions is provided under the countries constitution. It will be interesting to see how everything pans out at these games and if any fights break out amongst spectators over religious squabbles.

For this and other Olympics news, be sure to stay tuned to the Bergnovinaian Sports Radio Network (BSRN), the world's most trusted sporting news network.

Welcome to Harrikes
By Johnny Cambridgeshire, Sports Editor

Image
The curlers pose before boarding their flight.

As the world's eyes begin to turn to Harrikes, Euskirribakondara for the first Youth Games, the Albertasbian delegation made their way out there. Although not officially released until just three weeks before the games, the squad has been known for little over three months. And today was the day that they finally took to the skies and made the flight over to Euskirribakondara as the opening ceremony is just two days away.

Across the nation, flags have gone up in towns and cities, and support is high all throughout Albertasby. It seems that the buzz of the games has really gripped the nation, and everyone from children to the elderly have an Albertasbian flag within their house somewhere. As they touched down in Harrikes, the lack of cars became apparent, which provided a lot of them with a bit of clash, but soon, many were used to the bicycles and segways in the city.

Time to Train
By Johnny Cambridgeshire, Sports Editor

Ryan Hughes and Brad Hughes on the bob-sleigh track.

As the opening ceremony rocked the world, some of the Albertasbian focused upon the day's training that lay ahead for them. For us, there was only two events that had our athletes training; the boy's bobsled and the girl's bobsled. And it was actually a pretty successful day as far as the rankings were concerned.

In the boy's training, brothers Ryan and Brad Hughes and Richard Walker and Damien Brown took to the track. Walker and Brown were the first to go down the track, and timed in in a rather disappointing 53.08 seconds, leaving them clearly out of the rankings as team after team overtook the pair. When the brothers team took to the track, it became evident from the start that it would be a good time. After flying around the track, they gained a personal best time of 51.77 seconds, and look set to do well in the actual event.

Whilst one boy's team flew and the other crashed, the girls decided to show the world what they were made of. Mai Kemp and Lizzie Romana were the fourth team to go down the bobsled track, and crossed the line with an extremely respectable time of 53.66 seconds, setting them up for a final position of 6th. After the impressive time of Kemp and Romana, Alice Gorden and Aurianna Najah took their turn. They too flew down the track and were just 0.03 seconds slower than their Albertasbian team mates, and they finished 7th.

Of course, Carmadin had to sign up for the Youth Games.
Of course, they were being held on the soil of their ally Euskirribakondara (spelled it without looking for the first time!! :) )
Of course, this idea was lost in all the hubbub concerning the Winter Olympics, and the World Cup
Of course, the Ministry of Sport was quite frantic with papers flying everywhere.
Of course, the Ministry of Sport wired many a telly to the Euskies.
Of course, the Euskies replied.
Of course, qualifying events were held.
Of course, the incompetent organizers only held events for half the entries.
Of course, athletes who skiied were ....ed
Of course, the computer i'm on is autocensoring :p
Of course, the skiiers couldn't go.
Of course, the Ministry of Sport sent great apologies.
Of course, Youth Games vice president Aheleht aht Moh'wur'heh was livid about this.
Of course, he gave a long-winded, rather boring speech about the importance of being organized and on time.
Of course, this was ironic because he had forgotten he was supposed to be at a YG Executive meeting that day.
Of course, this sent the Ministry of Sport into an uproar.
Of course, the skiiers were forgotten.
Of course, Ahleht aht Moh'wur'heh was rather red around the ears.
Of course, nobody remembered to tell the Euskies about the skiing-people coming with the main delegation.
Of course, those skiiers weren't allowed in the country

And That's why A YG-Founding Nation has only 44 Entries! :p
(Of course)

All members of the Thatian delegation for the First Winter Youth Games marched towards their seats in the Harrikes Olympic Stadium in Euskirribakondara. The section reserved for the delegation, though quite large, was already crowded. Journalists, members of the government, and other important people scattered themselves throughout the seating block, making the athletes fend for themselves when it comes to seating. Finally, the last two athletes of the parade, Chris Hoy and Max Weinhold squeezed in at the edge of the first row, right next to a few of the journalists, who were covering the Opening Ceremony and taking too many pictures at the same time.

"Looks like we're separated from your girlfriend, Chris." Max observed

"Who? Oh you mean Natalie? She's not my girlfriend....yet." replied Chris, annoyed at the fact that his best friend was taunting him. "C'mon man, let's leave my relationship status alone and focus on the ceremony. It's getting interesting right now." He secretly stole a glimpse at Natalie McLaughlin, who also competes in the short track speed skating with Max. She smiled back, and he waved. Max noticed, and rose an eyebrow.

"Uh huh." he said.

A few minutes later, the announcer asked for everyone to stand up for the anthem:

Ladies and Gentlemen, please stand up for the National Anthem of the Great Pluricultural Harrikía of Euskirribakondara

"Was? Was hat er gesagt?" said Cristoph Kannenberg, an athlete competing in Speed Skating, yet had no knowledge in any language other than English."

"Cristoph, wirklich?" said Max, who knew both English and German, as he grew up in a multi-lingual family. "Bitte, stehen sie auf für die Nationalhymne von Euskirribakondara. Es ist nicht allzu schwer zu verstehen."

Cristoph rose along with everyone else, who silenced all conversation to hear the music. Everyone tried to sing along, as the lyrics were on the giant jumbotron, but most of the guys in the Thatian delegation had no idea how to sing, never mind how to pronounce the words. Afterwards, the section applauded and went back for to their conversations before the next act.

"Chris. Are you ready for Liventia?" asked Max.

"Sort of.." Chris replied. "I mean, I am the number one selection to represent Thatius in biathlon, but I still feel a bit unexpereienced. You know, the feeling that you are told you are better than you really think you are."

"Well that's just you being humble, Chris." Max pointed out. "You're the best guy in the country when it comes to biathlon. You'll no doubt have a positive impact on the team when you win a medal in both the Winter Olympics in Liventia and the Youth Games here. We're counting on you, among a few others, to hold us up."

"I guess you're right." said Chris, sighing. "I've never competed in a competition outside of Thatius, so this will be very interesting. Have you?"

Max shook his head. "Nope. Never been outside the country, until yesterday. It's a whole new experience."

Chris, aghast, said: "So you've never been out of Thatius? Wow. My family and I take vacations to Ithadi about twice a year. It's so much fun going to Lagois, the capital. My brother, Jake, studies there at the university. He is majoring in some kind of engineering. Why he chose to go abroad to study, who knows. He was offered a scholarship for skiing at the University of Varael, in Thatius, but turned it down. It's kind of weird."

"Man, that would have been an exciting opportunity! He could have joined the Olympic delegation like you, right? He was that good to get a scholarship from UoV?"

"Yep." said Chris. "He had offers from many colleges in the Valley, but turned them down to study in Ithadi. So now every summer we visit him in Lagois, and have a good time going to the beaches. Oh, here comes the next part of the ceremony. Let's sit back and watch."

First cutoff of the week! :D!
Unkeren Asteren Talkazare! :D!
El unier cop-off della semana! :D!

* If you are going to give flowers as a gift to an Euskirribakondaran woman, give them in an even number. If you give it in an odd number (say, 3 flowers), it will be considered unpolite.

* The Carmadese (or Carmadinese?) skiers were received after all.

* To smoke you must go to one of the Smokepods around the major cities. These are small buildings in the parks, that are totally closed, so that the smoke does not affect others... Smoking is illegal outside of this pods, except for religious purposes or in a zouk bar.

* The legal ages for Drinking and Smoking for the Euskal nationals is determined like this: You are an adult for the law, when you pass the "Citizenship Test", that includes questions about the country, some things regarding morals and basic knowledge of the law. There's not a score given here, the final outcome is determined by the number of questions answered. If you pass this test, you get the "adult rights" (to say it somehow), which include smoking (even drugs) and drinking. For foreigners, the standard age is 18; but through a special permit you can lower this age. Nonetheless, as most Euskal are buddhists, they tend to drink or smoke little to no times.

* For the Games, the segway-rentals have lowered the price from D$ 2.00 to D$ 0.50!

* The current exchange rate is 1 NS Dollar (Or U$ Dollar) is the same as 60 cents of D$. Bring your savings ;)

Here are the results!

"Welcome to SC Sports Today, Special Broadcast"

Andre:"Hello, I'm Andre Lapoline"

Sonya:"And I'm Sonya Sibrodi."

Andre: "Today was a huge day for our nations youth!"

Sonya:"How, Andre"

Andre:"It was the Beginning of the Youth Games, all eyes have turned on Harrikes, Euskirribakondara to see the youth of 23 nations compete in many winter sports disciplines."

Sonya:"Andre, didn't we help to start these games.?"

Andre: "Actually we did, at the beginning Euskirribakondara and our Ministry of Sports and Recreation discussed the creation of these games in response to another nation hosting the Winter Paralympics, which both nations wanted to host or co-host together so after some discussion they came up with this."

Sonya: "So why aren't we helping to co-host this event?"

Andre:"Well the Euskirribakondaran government, according to documents released by the Ministry of Sport, cut off all talk with our Ministry and then decided to without telling our nation to host it themselves, without our permission and to dishonour an agreement for our nation to host the Summer Games, which now has a bid process and also to not give us equal status, made the vice-president of the committee, the nation of Carmadin, which didn't help with the idea initially, to the knowledge of the Ministry."

Sonya:"A shock and outrage indeed, lets see what our public has to say."

Andre:"Here's a half-dozen comments that have come in on our website:
John A from Moscawa wrote:
A back-stabbing blow to Canuckistani sports.

Judy L from Duntreal wrote
An outrage, a review should be in order and the Euskirribakondarans should acknowledge our role in this and at least apologize for this offence.

Sergei D from St.Beaversburg wrote:
It is sad how our youth have not the opportunity to compete at home in front of their loved ones and to have to compete in a lie like this

Sally C from Potcouver wrote
Our youth nowadays are told to be honest and open tho others but to be exposed to this blasphemy by adults who are supposed to act as role models, a tragedy when you think of it.

Velina T from Krai wrote:
The motto is Expecting High but what the Euskies have shown us is quite low for an international event

Jean-Paul from Quebexico City wrote in and said;
For an international event these actions are unacceptable and repercussions against the offenders in order and restitutions to the victims also

Sonya"So back to our coverage."

Andre:"A good day for our athletes indeed, even if it was training."

Sonya:"So lets see some results!"

Andre:" We have the bobsleigh first! First up was the team of Etienne Ducharme and Ronald Binechi with a time of 52.24, only a little more than half a second behind the lead and here's a clip of them in action."

*clip plays*

Sonya: "That was fast, I see them doing very well in the future. For our other team of 17 Geoffrey Goldburg and Ramzi Hamad, they finished only a fifth of a second behind their compatriots, placing them in 17th and a clip of them in action."

Andre:"I wouldn't do that, too fast and those curves can be deadly, some tracks have killed athletes in the past like the Mt. Armsden tragedy of 1982."

Sonya:"I remember that, that was terrible, hopefulyl it doesn't repeat. For the Girls Bobsleigh, an amazing result with the team of Violet Goldburg and Eline Cravni placing second overall in their training run with 53.27."

Andre:"Whoah, speed racers there."

Sonya:"Indeed, the other girls team of Katania Murphy and Katrina Murphy came in 20th, a disappointing performance that can only be improved on."

Andre:"Absolutely and now to ski jumping, it was a little disappointing with Micheal Head in 13th and Nathaniel Martinez in 29th, however they're brave for coin that, racing down a hill and jumping 120 meters through the air while having perfect form and concentration."

Sonya:"A feat indeed, for the girls, however, with Katina Alberta Pope in 9th,Janie Rowe in a tie for 11th,Jeannine Natalie Frost in 18th and Katherine Mason in 27th, they'll be the ones to watch."

Andre: "Absolutely and a clip of our ski jumpers in action."

*clip plays*

Sonya: "Now for my favourite, rippin tricks on the half pipe. The boys had an amazing result with Bradley Hobbs placing third, nice job, and Chase Elbert Pickett in 13th. The girls were similar with a 6th place for Allyson Clay and a 17th for Carolina Sykes."

Andre:"An interesting feature of these games was the culture shock."

Sonya:"How?"

Andre:"Well, Cars are banned form the roads, only public transit and the amount of languages spoken which is over 6 dozen."

Sonya:"Multicultural, I say and how the economy is almost all based on tourism."

Andre:"I'd hate to see that falter so we talked to one of the athletes by phone today, with Andrej Bisnobrechni, son of the ANSF champion."

Andrej(recorded) "Our plane touched down at two in the morning, the signs were confusing but our language and culture training helped a lot, we went by bus to our hotel and me and some of the team played video games for a bit and went to bed around 6 in the morning since we didn't have practise till the afternoon there. Their sports facilities are quite nice, we met some other athletes and they all seem pretty nice. Went for dinner in a nice restaurant there and the local food is amazing, all in all, a nice place to stay, that's my opinion."

Sonya:"Such a talented young athlete and how are they responding to the unrest in Quebexico right now with the athletes and the hosting debacle."

Andre:"news form home is being censored a bit to prevent a chunk of the team from leaving to defect to the Quebexicans who aren't participating and for the hosting debacle, same story but not as heavily controlled and the children know a bit about that."

Sonya:"That's a wrap and see all of you tomorrow."

Andre:"Goodbye and Good night,SC"

The big screens around main points of Harrikes had been showing the broadcasts of the TV stations of Thatius, Albertasby, Bergnovinaia, Chenkorya, Puerto Candelaria, Artsakhestan and Soviet Canuckistan.

When the Soviet Canuckistan appeared, most people was shocked... even the Organising Committee of the Games. After the broadcast, the Harrika Dago I (President of the Organising Committee) made this declaration:

It is true that Euskirribakondara had initially conceived the NS Youth Games with the Ministry of Sports and Recreation of Soviet Canuckistan, after ruling out the possibility of organising a Winter edition of either the Paralympics, or the World Games. Everyone in this country knew that, and also in Chenkorya, and also in Soviet Canuckistan.

However, the rush-ing attitude of the Soviet Canuckistan officials, plus the low guarantees on budget, timing, etc. made the Euskirribakondaran government reconsider the decision of co-hosting. Nonetheless, apart from the idea, Soviet Canuckistan contributed in nothing to the project. The research on the feasible events, the redaction of the charter, the opening of the websites (thread) was all in charge of Euskirribakondara.

Then, it was notified by a telegram, that Euskirribakondara would host alone. It is FALSE that we did not tell them. Plus, the permission from them was not necessary as the organising committee and its institutional figure existed only on Euskirribakondara. Then, it was perceived that they could host the Summer Youth Games, however, several meetings made us decide that just with a bidding process, the real faculties of Soviet Canuckistan would be known.

Carmadin was selected as vice-president, because this nation has a better reputation in the sports world, and the communication was easier and more effective with this nation. Soviet Canuckistan today is part of the Executive Board, but this seems to not be true for them....

They are currently back-stabbing the whole Games by saying their athletes "have to compete in a lie like this", and that "The motto is Expecting High but what the Euskies have shown us is quite low for an international event", or "For an international event these actions are unacceptable and repercussions against the offenders in order and restitutions to the victims also".

First of all, it's quite outrageous, offending, and "back-stabber" to go against something you're supposed to defend and support. Secondly, questioning our hosting capabilites is the proof that a co-hosting would have not been well. Lastly, you talk about repercussions and restitutions. Who are the victims here? And what gives you the right to talk about repercussions?

No trade agreeements are between Soviet Canuckistan and Euskirribakondara, so we don't think there are repercussions available. And if you did not spend any money, any time, any effort on the realization of these Games.... Why do you say you are a victim?

For the rest of the international audience, I extend again a warm welcome from the Euskirribakondaran peoples. And I apologize for this black event that is trying to mark a stain in our Games... Nevertheless, the Games continue, and please ENJOY your time here.

Now, I'll go to the competitions..... I love Biathlon and Figure Skating!

Andre:"Welcome to SC Sports Today! I'm Andre Lapoline"

Sonya:"Hey, and I'm Sonya Sibrodi"

Andre:"Today, we have results form the First Day of the Youth Games, an interview with one of the athletes via live stream and recorded coverage of the opening ceremonies."

Sonya:"It was an exciting day today for our young athletes, in Harrikes, Euskirribakondara."

Andre:"First to Bobsleigh where ours athletes were slipping and sliding and hurtling in their sleds to amazing finishes. First team of Etienne Ducharme and Ronald Binechi slid to a seventh-place finish, the other team of Geoffrey Goldburg and Ramzi Hamad cam win a respectable 19th place finish, great for their international debuts."

Sonya:"Great indeed our female bobsleigh athletes also did very well with 16 and 17 place finishes Goldburg and Eline Cravni and the Murphy sisters, respectively. An excellent day for our young bobsled community."

Andre;"The boys biathlon also did very well, skiing and shooting to amazing results such as Tiaiaos Tauloios getting a seventh-place finish, a twentieth for Jean Prefontaine and still respectable finishes for Luc Lechard's twenty-fifth and JF Pulo's twenty-ninth out of a field of 47 young athletes. Two of them qualified for the team pursuit, Tiaiaos Tauloios and Jean Prefontaine."

Sonya: "The results for the girls biathlon were also very impressive with a sixth=place finsh by Angelina Tolosaa with a time of 13:17, Natanya Yoruski with a respectable twentieth and Alexandra Tauloios placing 22nd and a 38th by Latanna Prinowski, good job ladies!"

Andre:"That means Angelina Tolosaa and Natania Yoruski qualify for the team pursuit. Now we will turn our heads to the Ski Jumping at the Harrikes Winter Tower.with Nathanael Martinez in fifth-place and Michal Head in an excellent eighth-place, An excellent performance boys!"

Sonya:"Now we look to ski cross, an interesting event, a combination of downhill skiing and jumps in a dash to he finish at the Ganxa Ski Complex North. Excellent results with Donte Schmidt in 5th and an 11th for Jefferson Crawford in a field of 17."

Andre:"Such an exciting day for one of our budding young athletes, Aron McIntyre, who won our nation's first medal with a silver in the boys half-pipe followed by Carlton Randall in 28th."

Sonya:"Alpine Skiing results were dismal, with both of our athletes in 16th with DNF's, there's always next time, boys. In the figure skating singles, it was a different story with a 7th by Tommy Cary Patton and Vicente Charlie Dodson in 31st."

Andre:"In hockey, it was a close game with a one-nothing loss to Albertasaby, so sad, however in curling, two twins have won their match 6-4 and the Tunier siblings won 8-5."

OOC:
1.Never notified of bid process
2.One host thing, allowed after he said he was hosting and that was me being nice so to not screw up the organization of the games further.
3.If I have offended anyone, I'm sorry
4.We never rushed anything, this was quite well thought out and we told you our facilities
5.You never let me help with the charter, you cut off comms with us before you made the charter, I researched some experimental events events for you such as bandy and broom ball
6. Thank you for the first part now Carmadin is taking credit.
7.We contributed venues and stuff look at discussion thread link to original planning
8. We know we're part of the Executive Board along with your friends who didn't contribute anything to this, essentially making my post one of one without meaning.
9. Another contribution of mine was one of the first logos for this, before you made the offical YG logo.Link

Athlete Biographies:

Dominik Tešovič
Ski Jumping - Gold Medalist (Winter Youth Games I)

Image

Event: Ski Jumping
Competed in: 2008, 2011 Thatius Ski Qualifications, 1st Winter Youth Games
Height: 5'8
Weight: 143 lbs.
Born: September 5, 1994 in Trnava, Thatius
Current Residence: Varael, Thatius

For some reason, Trnava, Thatius, boasts the highest population density of winter athletes, besides that of Varael, the winter sports capital. Dominik was born to parents who were apart of the 90's sports craze, and dreamed of their child bringing fame to the family name. When he was nine, his parents enrolled him in the Varael Winter Academy, an academy for future athletes who want to participate in some kind of winter sport, whether skiing, snowboarding, or speed skating.

At the Varael Winter Academy, Dominik trained for over five years, and became a serious contender for a berth at the Winter Olympic games. However, his maturity is still being tested, as he is younger compared to other athletes in his field. But the athleticism is there, as well as the drive. In 2008 and 2011, Dominik won the Thatius Ski Qualifications, earning gold in Ski Jumping. While he won the 2008 competition, there was no event higher to participate in. Thatius had not yet decided to participate in the Winter Olympic Games, and felt comfortable with its athletes not going abroad. Finally policy changed in 2010, and Thatius entered its first athletes into the Summer Olympics in Cafundeu. Continuing the tradition, athletes were entered for the Winter Olympics of 2012 in Liventia. Dominik was selected to represent Thatius in the category of Ski Jumping, along with several other athletes.

So far, the Winter Youth Games have been a good test of Dominik's maturity and athleticism. He showed the coaches and sports representatives of Thatius how stable he has become, and that his spot on the roster for the Olympics was well-deserved. Keeping his composure was critical to his success, as he has been known to explode when the results are not perfect. Yet his performance in the Boy's Ski Jumping event was flawless. He executed his moves of the jump perfectly, and earned a gold medal. Now with success, more maturity, and a lot of confidence, Dominik looks towards a bright competition at the Winter Olympics next month.

Cutoff, I guess. Results will be up in about in less than two hours, most likely. Artsakhestan, Puerto Candelaria and Monlyuxeburga are no longer competing, except for the athletes that qualified for the pursuit events of the Biathlon.

Medal Mania!
By Johnny Cambridgeshire, Sports Editor

Image Hannah Wallace, Albertasby's first gold medallist

As the second day began in Harrikes, it was evident that it would be a fairly good day for Albertasby as far as medal success was concerned. We ended the day on four medals, with one gold and two silvers! It was definitely our most successful start to any sporting competition, and the fact it is our fine nation's youngsters that have done it is even sweeter and more inspiring than could possibly be imagined!

The first event of day two, and Albertasby, was the Boys Duo in Bob-sleigh. From the training, we had finished in fourth and twenty-sixth respectively, so if we were to gain any medal, progress would need to be made. The first to go four our country was the team of Damien Brown and Richard Walker, the least experienced Albertasbian duo. They completed the course with a total time of 1 minute and 45.41 seconds, which was their personal best. It all came down to the more experienced brother duo of Ryan and Brad Hughes. High hopes were pinned on them, but unfortunately, they disappointed. With a total time of 1 minute and 44.24 seconds, they were left out of the medals, ultimately finishing in ninth position.

After the boys event had finished, the girls took to the track to try and regain some pride for Albertasby at the games. In the qualifiers, the two girls teams had finished sixth and seventh, so it was hoped that this success could be mirrored, or even improved for the actual event. First to go was Aurianna Najah and Alice Gorden, who had finished seventh in the qualifiers. They speeded around the track, and finally timed in with a personal best time of 1 minute and 46.76 seconds. This would ultimately earn them a silver medal. Mai Kemp and Lizzie Romana finished in 14th.

OoC: Will finish later...
