The Street
Kazzoria PWN Altimarus
Altimarus 4, Kazzoria 11

Hey bluds! We is like reporting on this beach footy and this. It was all like kick this way and they like kicked it this way and then they like, kicked it that way. Then Kazzoria like totally pwned this other bunch of homies like totally random. I would talk about the like game blud, but I was too busy staring at this girl like blud, see was totally fit. But Kazzoria were like pwning which was like da best.

The game like started and der were all these people like and they were like kicking this ball right, standard. Then It was like going in the net like ya know blud? These hommies were all like against these other hommies and they were all like random running around like they had da shits. When like all the hommies sat down on their arses it was like 7-2 to like our hommies, this happened like twice bluds and I got like sume beer at this stand. Then I watched and like the Kazzorin hommies scored 14 goals and the Altimarus hommies got pwned off their face like all random and dis and they got like four points which was like pathetic like. Now der Kaz hommies are like play dess Eastfield Lodge peoples.

We don't like der Eastfield Lodge peoplez, they is da titchy little stinkas! We don't like dem and we haven't beaten dem yet and there will be like more riots coz we likes to injure dem stinkas! If der Kaz win they will play Carmadin or Spitfyred1, but probably der first ones coz they is sick blud! See ya hommies!

(OOC: Sorry for my infrequent and attrocious roleplaying, I'm struggling for inspiration.)

Celebrations in Havana as Western Cuba secures Bid

Diego Sanchez

Crowds gathered in the streets of Havana last night to celebrate the announced results for the host bid of the first annual Rugby Sevens World Cup. It was a close vote but Western Cuba edged Cyborg Holland by one vote, and Homelands Our by 2 votes to win the host bid. " I'm so excited. ", shouts a rugby fan in joy. " I'm shocked at the results but excited also. Can't wait till the matches start. "

And so was the WCSA. Which is sort for the Western Cuban Sports Association. Even the head of the hosting bid, Orlando Gonzalez was shocked himself. " We put together a very good bid, and offered great facilities but we were still a long shot. We got it though and I along with many citizens are very excited for this opportunity. "

Orlando is right, rugby is a rather new sport to Western Cuba. In fact the sport has only been around for the last decade. Interesting enough the infamous Vladimir Makarov banned the sport but the rule became less enforced once his son took over. In the last several years rugby has been slowly growing as a popular sport in Western Cuba, but to host the Rugby Sevens World Cup is shocking. Western Cuba hasn't even formed an official major rugby league yet.

Tickets have officially gone on sale so be sure to visit the WCSA's website. Matches start in a week and tickets are expected to go by fast so get them as soon as you can!

More celebrations as Western Cuba reaches Quarterfinals

Jorge Ramirez

No it's not the National Baseball Team advancing but in fact the National Beach Soccer Team. Western Cuba put away Group 3 Opponents Mangolana for the last time last night advancing to the Quarterfinals to face off against Group Stage Rivals Abcdefghijklmnopqrstuk who defeated there opponents Mapletish by a score of 11 to 3.

Western Cuba's offense excelled yesterday with Diego Ferrer leading the team with 5 goals and Hugo Velez with 4 goals. The defense played a solid game allowing only two goals. " We played hard throughout the game and deserved this, now we have to fight hard against Abcdefghijklmnoprqrstuk. We know they're a good team and there going to be bring their A-Game against us, but I tell you what ours is going to be even better. "

Make sure to watch tonight's game against Abcdefghijklmnoprqrstuk. The game is to be televised on HBS so there's no excuse not to watch it. Here's my predictions to tonight's games.

1Western Cuba over 2Abcdefghijklmnoprqrstuk-, Abcdefghijklmnoprqrstuk has played hard throughout this Beach Cup but Western Cuba has played harder and is the better team. Western Cuba will advance to the semi-finals.

3Spitfyred1 over 4Carmadin, Carmadin may have shocked us all by beating the host Sarrbia, but the streak ends here. Spitfyred1 advances to the semi-finals.

1Eastfield Lodge over 2Kazzoria, Eastfield Lodge and Kazzoria are both very experienced teams in this world cup and this match is going to be very close. Eastfield Lodge will edge it out though and will go on to the Semi-Finals.

2Darmen over 1 Hossaim, If any team is to beat Hossaim who is #1 in the world it's Darmen. Who delivered Hossaim's only two losses in the group stage. I think Darmen will extend it to a third, and advance to the semi-finals. If you feel like watching more soccer after the Western Cuba game make sure it to be this one.

VCNMN's Beach Cup V Coverage

Vekki Myaya here for VCNMN's Beach Cup V Coverage. While the Tidal Sea-Wolves played a good game, they came up short.

Stephanie Gennadiya had this to say, "We did our best out there. This was a tough event. While we didn't win, we did make it to the quarterfinals, so we know that we can make it. Next time around, we plan to go to the finals and win."

Despite their loss, the Sea-Wolves plan to return for the Beach Cup VI games!

This has been Vekki Myaya for VCNMN, wishing the Sea-Wolves good luck in the playoffs!

Is Western Cuba emerging as an International Giant in Sports

Diego Sanchez

It isn't so yet, but it's starting to be asked by many. Is Western Cuba a sports giant. The country recently has had the success of entering the knockout stages in the World Lacrosse Championship's, runner-up's in World Baseball Classic 20, and now a deep run in Beach Cup V. Western Cuba has also recently won the rights to host the Rugby Sevens World Cup a huge achievement for the country.

Still though I wouldn't call Western Cuba frankly a sports giant yet. While our teams have played quite well in lacrosse, baseball, and beach soccer quite frankly we haven't played well in the world cup of soccer and haven't achieved a massive breakthrough in either hockey or basketball, and just entered international competition in volleyball. Which I have to add though our ladies did quite well in the recently held World Volleyball Expo, fighting hard against top teams in the world like Darmen, Carasatoga, and 95x.

However though until later in the future the debate is to be settled. Western Cuba is not a giant in the sports world yet, but in the future it may come to be.

Welcome to the Semi-Finals!

Jorge Ramirez

After five cups of Beach Soccer Western Cuba has finally entered the semi-finals coming off a big victory against fellow Group rivals, Abcdefghijklmnopqrstuk. The game was probably the most exciting to watch for the Quarterfinal matches, it was even better to watch than the Hossaim-Darmen game in which Hossaim came out and beat Darmen 8-5 in a less closer game than we thought.

Western Cuba would barely edge Abcdefghijklmnopqrstuk by a score of 5-4, with a fantastic goal by Diego Ferrer with a little over 30 seconds left giving the victory for Western Cuba. Diego Ferrer starred in the game scoring a hat trick while Hugo Velez and Paco Prieto each shared one goal each.

" This is so exciting! ", shouts a loyal fan celebrating in the streets. " And to think it's not even over yet. "

And it's not Western Cuba still has to come up and face off against Kazzoria who demolished favorites Eastfield Lodge by a score of 9-0. " It's sort of scary what Kazzoria did to Eastfield Lodge. 9 goals is a lot but to add the shutout that's impressive, however though I promise you they won't do the same to us. '

Semi-Final matches are tonight in Sarrbia with both games being broadcast on NST. The winner of the Western Cuba-Kazzoria game will go on to face the winner of the Spitfyred1-Hossaim game. Here are my predictions for both games.

1Hossaim over 3Spitfyred1, Hossaim handled their only problem in this Beach Cup yesterday by defeating Darmen 8-5. I don't think Spitfyred1 faces much of a challenge to them. Hossaim's challenge to a 3rd Beach Cup will continue after tonight.

1Western Cuba over 2Kazzoria, This game will be on closer terms than the Hossaim-Spitfyred1 game will be. Expect both teams to fight till the very end, but Western Cuba will edge out Kazzoria in a very close game. Western Cuba will continue their pursuit in winning their first beach cup, and will earn their first finals berth.

Hossaim into the semi finals

Hossaim 8-5 Darmen
Match Report
This was one of the most hyped games of the tournament. Darmen had been the only team to beat Hossaim going in, winning both their matches in the Group Stage. Without Renalds, Hossaim seemed to have little chance of breaking the streak. Early on in the game it seemed like Darmen were going to walk all over Hossaim scoring 3 in the first 5 minutes. Perry was putting on his magic tricks and Hossaim were backed into the corner. Peralton put on up for Hossaim but Darmen kept coming and it finished 4-1 after the first period.

In the 2nd period things started to look up for Hossaim. Jaberlick scored early on, Then Peralton chipped a perfect header off Embed's deflected cross over the keeper to make it 4-3. Hossaim put on lots of pressure trying to tie it before the end of the period but got caught upfeild and Perry broke out and scored, making it 5-3. Jaberlick scored again late in the period to make it 5-4.

In the third period it was all Hossaim. Pretty touches and fancy flicks dominated as Embed turned into a Quarterback, launching his first touchdown pass to Jaberlick who took it on his instep and rifled it home, tying the game. Embed then made another great pass, switching the play in midfield to Jaberlick, who's long shot on goal. was parried to Peralton for the easy finish. Embed then scored himself. stabbing the ball home after a scramble in the box. Late in the game. Hossaim put the game out of reach. Embed looped it into the box for Peralton who diked past the keeper then his empty net shot was blocked to Jaberlick who put it into the roof of the net, ending the game.

Preview
With their major competition out of the way, Hossaim will face underdogs Spitfyred1. Ranked 9th in the world and finishing third in their group, Spitfyred1 are a good team but aren't quite on World Class standards. Barring a major upset, Hossaim should have no trouble getting to the final, where they will find a much tougher challenge against Western Cuba or Kazzoria.

The Spitfyred1 Fyreballz won their first two postseason matches, and now face Hossaim in the semi-finals.

The team have surpassed all goals this cup and now have a chance for a major upset. Many international analysts have figured this match as an easy win for Hossaim, but the Fyreballz beg to differ. The team has yet to concede a goal in the post-season and are playing at their peak. The veterans are at the top of their game. The dynamic between Ginerva Protista and Angelina Prokaryota is epic right now, and their dominating possession is a big reason for the current streak. Kyle Animalia is playing at nice form and has managed to move the ball well and is in fact functioning as a defensive midfielder this post-season. Zaphood Plantae is showing impressive speed for his age and looks incredibly young on his tackles, bouncing straight up.

The rookies are playing great as well. As said earlier, Joseph Neo has been shutting out all the opponents so far and looks very agile right now. OJ Brown has been much smarter this time and his illegal tackles have dramatically decreased. It seems that the big stage is affecting his focus, sharpening it. Jenny Tsu has managed to stand up to every defense so far, and must want to score after missing a couple shots last game.

Zaphood Plantae wrote:Screw the critics. We are a force to be reckonned with and I am looking forward to showing up Hossaim. Screw Jorge Ramirez and beachnet.com they obviously haven't seen us play. Explain how a shutout defense is weak. Screw that. We are ready for this.

Ginerva Protista wrote:This is a huge oppurtunity, a trip to the finals would be fantastic. We are an elite team and have played as such so far. Our practices are top-class and I think an upset is coming.

Challenges face the National Basketball Team

Jorge Ramirez

Western Cuba is back in the international basketball championship's but face a brutal challenge. One that involves almost everything. Which includes forming a roster, hiring a coach, finding a training facility, and even leasing out a stadium to use. Many have criticized the lack of work by the WCSA in their effort of forming the national team. Which has taken some hard hits since there last debut in the International Championships. Since then there Head Coach has been killed. Car accident. Their assistant coach was paralyzed, from a fall, and half the roster was killed in the Battle of Havana when Western Cuba was "liberated" by Britannia. The other half has since left basketball and retired and gone on to other forms of interests.

" It's going to be hard to find a roster and a coach in time for the International Basketball Championships but we think we can get it done.", comments the leading chairman of the WCSA. " Before Matchday 1 we'll have a team put together that will play in the tournament.

It's been rumored that Rafael Mendoza is the leading candidate for the job, Mendoza has been a coach basketball coach at Trinidad University for the last several years. Leading the Trinidad Dolphins to their first national championship last year. Behind him is William Gonzalez, former basketball coach at Segovia State University. Gonzalez resigned last season due to health problems but has been recovering since and has been rumored to possibly landing the job as the National Team coach. However though one of the coaches may be offered the assistant coaching job if not offered the Head Coaching job. Only time will tell however.

On to the Beach Cup Finals!

Alberto Vargas

Western Cuba 1 2 2 5
Kazzoria 1 0 0 1

And off they go! Western Cuba has advanced to their first beach cup finals beating Kazzoria by a score of 5-1. Western Cuba played a great game on defense allowing only an early goal in the first period, and played great on offense generating five goals throughout the game.

After Kazzoria got off to a hot start scoring in the 2nd minute, Diego Ferrer quickly came in and scored his first goal for Western Cuba, and after that the game balanced in favor of our boys. Together after 1-1 play in the first period, Western Cuba would put up 4 more goals. With two each occurring in the second and third periods. Victor Ramos would score a goal, along with Hugo Velez scoring two and Diego Ferrer scoring one more making his daily total at 2. The win makes Western Cuba advance to the finals to face off against Spitfyred1 who shocked everyone by upseting Hossaim 5-4, nothing anybody expected.

" Spitfyred1 played a great game against Hossaim and they totally deserved that victory. ", comments an enthusiastic Diego Ferrer after Western Cuba's semi-final victory. " The road for them ends tomorrow though, and their is nothing more to say than that it's going to be a hard fought match by all of us. "

The Championship game is tomorrow at Cinnamon Beach Arena. The third place match will be held at SampTech Stadium. Tickets are sold-out which is not surprising at all, but that doesn't mean you can't watch it the game will be broadcast-ed on NST which every cable and satellite company provides so there shouldn't be a problem in you finding the game. And if you want to gather with your buddies the game will most likely be at your local bars, and if your a Havana Resident and your reading this the game will be also shown on the big screen in the City Square. So there is almost no excuse not to watch it. Here's my prediction for tomorrow's game.

1Western Cuba over 3Spitfyred1, The Beach Cup will end in triumph for Western Cuba. Who will record their first Beach Cup in their history.

Fyreballz Reach the Finals!!!

The magnificent cup has reached its climax, the finals. The game that everyone has been waiting for has finally arrived. After a thrilling 5-4 defeat of top-ranked Hossaim, the Fyreballz have reached the finals of Beach Cup V against Western Cuba.

The squad is one game away from winning the beach football championship for the first time, and opponent Western Cuba looks to be a formidable adversary.

The team barely squeaked by Hossaim in the semi-final. From the whistle, both teams went at it with amazing skill. The dominating possession of the Fyreballz, which had been key to victory earlier was lost and it was simply a matter of which goalkeeper had better skills.

In the first half, the Fyreballz scored two goals to the Hossaim three. The defense had played well with little real error. It was a tough match-up against the top team in the world, so the team was not disappointed to concede three. The offense was the disappointment blowing numerous chances. The duo needs to convert in the finals if victory is in the cards.

In the second half, the team had resurgence. Jenny Tsu energized the offense, scoring two goals and assisting the third. She showed great skill for her youth. The defense was lead by strong tackling by OJ Brown. Joseph Neo really stepped up and even blocked a late penalty that could have tied the game up. As the referee blew the full time whistle, the magical upset was over, and the number nine team in the world had made the world cup finals.
