Kulverint-Khytenna Cross Tour (closed)

Postby Kulverint » Sun Oct 09, 2011 12:32 pm

10 cities. 10 stadiums. 800 minutes. 60 players.

This is rugby.

Kulverint and Khytenna begin their cross tour (Kulverint --> Khytenna, Khytenna --> Kulverint) with 5 matches in different stadia around each nation to showcase what really top teams can do.

Kulverint and Khytenna have only met once before, in that most famous upset in the final of Rugby World Cup 16. Kulverint, in particular Wilhelmus Farransza and Jeroen Berdoas, had been an unstoppable force, sailing through the group stages with ease, and having beaten world no.1 Sorthern Northland in the quarter finals before winning a highly charged semi final against Colmark.

However, these two consecutive massive games drained Kulverint. Wilhelmus Farrasza was injured early on in the final, and with him out of the way all Khytenna needed to do to win was keep Berdoas away from the posts. For their part, Khytenna played magnificently, but most outside observers felt it was more that Kulverint had thrown away the opportunity of a life time.

Now, both these nations occupy top World Ranking slots, and it will be a very interesting match up overall.

Through pretend heavy breaths, Wilhelmus Farransza said it all.

Upon hearing the question "Do you think the management are a little hard on you at times, and give you too much to do with no breaks?" He simply replied thus: "Break? *Gasp* Who needs a break?"

Kulverint are mere weeks on from their grand slam in the Three Nations, and certainly look it. Indeed, for the first fixture against Khytenna, in the Duke Isaac stadium, they boast a full-strength squad that is anything but full strength. Farransza in particular looks bloody, but unbowed. Berdoas is looking forward to it, saying "Never before have we played outside a world cup. I think the KRFU is doing all it should be at the moment, getting us games and preparing us to finally win the world cup we really deserve."

However, do they get that as a guarantee? In both of the last world cups, the winners have been debutants, Khytenna and Kernansquillec, and there's great teams out there who've never won world cups. Although they aren't everything, its certainly the main goal. Sorthern Northland have only won once, whilst former greats Somewhereistonia never won the trophy, their best finish being two fourth places, so its not as if the world cup is the only measure.

But to this tournament! The main news for this one is that long-time winger Martijn Kouralavska has been moved to the centre, so 21-year-old hotshot Jos Ferana can have his chance on left wing. Meanwhile, Christophan Dominica has vowed to try scoring again, rather than just pass out to Farransza all the time.

So this tour, for Kulverint at least, is not one for dominance, although the grand slam is of course the aim, but more trying out new and different combinations, meaning coach Tommi Junkuarlaski will be naming his squads on a match-by-match basis. Another issue has been to get an adequate Fly Half, as every time Berdoas has been injured simple kicks have gone begging, Kulverint must be prepared for the day this great retires. Tommi has selected 30 players to fly over to Khytenna, although there may be more selection changes in Kulverint's home games.

So, the squad for the match in the Duke Isaac stadium:

What a difference Try's make

Khytenna lose opening tour game thanks to a superb interception and try by Wilhelmus Farransza.

Khytenna- 12
Tries:
Conversions:
Penalties: Dawson (3)
Drop goal: Dawson (1)

Kulverint- 17
Tries: Uibeck , Farransza
Conversions: Berdoas (2)
Penalties: Berdoas

An early try by Kulverint set the tone for the game, despite Khytenna kicking there way back into the game, the dogged effort of Khytenna was dashed by a cool interception and dash by Farransza late in the second half that ended Khytenna's game.

the Duke Isaac was full to brim with supporters from both nations, the stands where full of a sea of red and black shirts, they where in for a treat today as both sides where looking to prove themselves.

Khytenna, you could argue, had a bit more to prove, Former world and Vvardenfell champions, both tournaments they underperformed, they really needed to show that they could be the best.

However, it was the tourists that got the dream start, from the kick of they got the break they needed and rushed the Khytenna defence, Dominica gaining 20 yards before being stop outside the try line, Khytenna did well to get back into defence but the scrum half Uibeck managed to push over for a try, which was converted, 7-0 in the opening 10 minutes and Khytenna where on the ropes.

Khytenna managed to stay disciplined throughout the half, forcing Kulverint to make silly errors, Khytenna's captain took advantage, improving his superb record more by kicking 2 over in the first half, however Kulverint would get back the momentum by scoring a penalty before the end of the half, a silly error by trent gave Kulvertint a free shoot in front of the posts, which was taken easily by Berdoas, the half ended 10-6 to the away team, Khytenna needing to improve to win the game.

the second half started well for the Six Islands, as they piled on pressure on the Kulverint defense, however despite this effort, the defence wasn't budging, the closest Khytenna came to a try was by Althement who rushed down the wing centre meters away, but Ferana was there to put him in to touch.

Khytenna however managed to take the lead thanks to the boot of Dawson, one penalty and an impressive drop goal at a difficult angle put the home side ahead in the last 10 minutes of the game.

Khytenna went searching for the last try, and in the 77th minute seemed to had broken the Kulverint line, Decker made a seemingly great pass to Zargara who was open, but out of nowhere Farransza managed to jump in-between the pass and court the ball, he charged all the way to tryline and under the posts to secure the win for the tourists

the Game ended 17-12, a great game by both sides, buy Khytenna needs to find away to break that defence to get those vital 7 points.

the next game goes to the wonderful Blue Bay in Lylac

Khytenna chokes in blue bay.

Khytenna loose again to Kulverint, having to sin bins, one in each half, giving way to a dominant Kulverint
Khytenna- 10
Tries: Decker
Conversions: Dawson
Penalties:
Drop goal:

Kulverint- 24
Tries: Farransza (2), Millian@a
Conversions: Berdoas (3)
Penalties: Berdoas

Another pack crowd today saw another lose for the six islands, with Dawson being sin binned in the first half and Kazin the second, Kulverint used a number advantage to get 3 decent tries in the second half to lose the game.

The game however started very well for Khytenna, which gave the home crowd something to cheer about. the forward pack piled on pressure on to the Tourists defence, after a 7 minutes of pressure Khytenna had the advantage near the try line, Dawson got the ball out of the ruck and passed in back to the blind side to decker, decker pushed threw the defence and went over the try line, after the ref Asked the TMO for confirmation, the Replay showed Decker had managed to grounded the ball, news that made the home crowd go wild, Khytenna had the Try and had got past the rock solid defence, with Dawson there to convert it making it 7-0.

Khytenna managed to get another 3 in that half, Dawson showing his skill by nailing a 33 yard kick, however his game was going to go from great to nightmare very soon. The Kulvertint response was disciplined and strong, forcing Khytenna into silly mistakes, the frustration was showing on the players, however in the 76th minute, Khytenna's captain was gave away ten yards in a penalty thanks to back chat, but that wasn't all, the ref decided enough was enough, and Dawson was shown the yellow, much to the dismay to the home crowd.

Jeroen Berdoas got 3 points from the penalty, and the first half ended 10-3 But Khytenna looked like they where in a dangerous position.

Kulvertint, hit back hard and took advantage of the 14 man Khytenna, stretching the defence, switching attack from blind side to open, it paid of as Farransza broke lines and went over for his first try, which the conversion an easy one, the score was now levelled at 10-10

they also struck again 5 minutes later, just before Dawson came back onto the field, a high kick was chased by the full back Millian@a, the ball bounced in his favour and managed to run around the Khytenna defence to get under the posts for the second try of the game, it was again converted and Kulvertint looked like they where about to run away with the game, 17-10 the score was.

With Dawson back on the Field, Khytenna started pushing for a try, to level the game, but indiscipline had plagued the Khytennan's and Kazin was court offside in 3 separate occasions, he was shown the yellow in the 68th minute, and Khytenna where back to 14 men.

the last try of the game came from Farransza, a very quick turn over by Jundara resulted in a gap in the Khytennan line, was simply passed into by Dominica, who passed quickly to Farransza to open up the field to get a try under the posts to end the game, and easy conversion ending the game 24-10.

Kulvertint seem to be unstoppable at the moment, Khytenna will need to pull something out of the bag to get a win at Memorial City

21: Hülltérän@ Millian@a - Kulverint Schkots

As you can see, we've a large number of unusual starters in the squad, to try them out, so we're not expecting a big win. Many of them will likely come off the pitch at about 60 minutes should we be behind at that point. Jaani Möäron will be starting at no. 10, and will be kicking for the duration of his stay on the pitch. He is known to be enthusiastic with the drop goals and in much the same vein as Berdoas, but much less experienced. For this reason, the captaincy will pass to the oldest and longest-serving player in the squad, Martijn Kouralavska, so we'll likely see a bit of magic there. Martijn has seen it all, so leadership should not be an issue for him here.

Showing Off The Young Guns
Kulverintian players on first caps prove worthy contenders against Khytenna

Yesterday was a very good day for Kulverintian rugby. If we don't include the points scored to save the game at the end of that last match, then an effective second-string Kulverintian side would have walked away having lost by only 1 point to a world cup winning side. Don't be fooled by Khytennan reports of "running Kulverint to the wire," we weren't fielding a strong team until the 70th minute. This looks good long into the future, particularly for Jaani Möäron. He was far more natural a fly half than any of us could expect. Not only was his kicking of the standard Berdoas' was at that age (19), but he was also very capably leading the team, with centre, and acting captain, Martijn Kouralavska having to remind him who was boss. His drop goals were both accurately struck shots, and his penalty kicking no issue.

But he wasn't the only young one to perform well. Daanjik Moultaravsta came ever so close to the tryline in minute 42, after a slick bit of sidestepping that Wilhelmus Farransza would be proud of, whilst Jos Ferana nearly scored twice, and set up the Farransza try at the end in only his 5th international cap.

This side was completely different to the one Khytenna have become used to facing, and the new boys seemed to particularly like breaking the line, which was difficult for the Khytennans to handle in the opening minutes, being used to desperately stopping the ball getting to the wing. Even Kouralavska looked as if he'd been taking some tips on how to play with the new boys, nearly scoring his first international try for a long time. As it is, his dry spell was extended today to 42 tests without a score, but we almost saw the Kouralavska of old, who was almost on a par with what Farransza is considered now, although few doubt Farransza is better simple because he can both make and break key tackles, and both score heavily and prevent scores from happening. That is his key strength. Both Martijn and usual centre partner Dominica are fast, open players, and Tommi Junkuarlaski's selection for the next match reflects this.

So, then, the new boys played well. I personally believe they would have had a fair shot at nicking the match, had there been a penalty in Khytenna's half in the last 10, I've no doubt in my mind that Möäron would have scored it. As it was, it was left to a fresh Farransza against an already weary defence. The try couldn't have been simpler, nor could the conversion for Berdoas. These young guns might be great, indeed they'd probably make the first team of all other international sides, but they're not Kulverintian 1st XV material just yet.

So, the squad for the next game:

Coach: Tommi Junkuarlaski
(No.: Name - Club)

First team
Forwards
1: Tommi Koulevski - Der Kapital Brachtia
2: Jüllart@ Kré@ana - Kulverint Schkots

6: Tommi Ulakarviks - Kulverint Schkots
7: Jos Markalavska - Kulverint Nederlandes Verenigen Bus
8: Jarri Koulevski - Derastüun

Island news

5th lose in thrilling game

a much improved Khytenna lose to a lucky Kulvertint who scored a Supper drop goal to complete there whitewash of khytenna on their home soil.

Khytenna- 26
Tries: Decker (2), Callahan, Sergren
Conversions: Dawson (2), Green.
Penalties:
Drop goal:

Kulverint- 27
Tries: Koulevski (2), Kouralavska
Conversions: Berdoas (3)
Penalties: Berdoas
Drop Goal: Berdoas

Khytenna will kicking themselves over that game, they came so close to a first win, but a last minute drop goal ended that and Kulvertint get there fifth win, Whilst Khytenna will feel that there's was snapped away from them.

Khytenna's Dawson was the first to entertain the small 22,000 crowd stadium with the opening try of the game, a clever Chip between the Kulverint defence was chased by Derrick Decker to the corner of the the try zone, he got a hand on the ball and managed to ground the ball down in the corner of the try zone before Farransza got to it, after the Ref went to the TMO for confirmation, the try was awarded. Dawson hit the post with his conversion attempt and the score was 5-0, with Khytenna in the lead.

Khytenna's Dawson struck again later thanks to the work of the Forward pack. Driving towards the Khytenna pack managed to go though 18 quick phases of the ball charging from the half way line to the 22, the Khytennian pack was doing what they did in that world cup winning year, the ball was handed out to Kazin, who made a simple dumpy pass to Dawson, it was enough to create a small amount of space for him to charge into he broke the line and popped the ball to Decker who went over for his second try. this Time, Dawson was on target making the score 12-0 to the home team.

however it wasn't all Khytenna's half, Kulvertint managed to get the lead before the end of the first half thanks to two converted try's by the super number 8 Koulevski. His first try came from a scrum down in the Khytennian 22, he picked the ball up and drove towards the Khytenna line, his sheer power and strength got him past Wentworth and he palmed of Allington before scoring his try. Berdoas was on target once more making the score 7-12.

Koulevski stuck again 6 minutes before half time, this time it was thanks to a dangerious scissor pass and a miss tackle by Harry Ashton. Lapparski made a a cool Scissor pass to Koulevski who powered through the defence of Khytenna, Aston slipped over whilst making a tackle, which proved costly as he then ran unopposed towards the try line scoring under the posts for his and Kulvertint second try, it was converted and the 2 extra points put them into the lead.

The slip that Aston had proved to be more bad then he though, pulling his thigh muscle, he was subed of for Roy Callahan, who moved to number 8 with Kazin going to openside flanker. Callahan made an instant impact on the pitch, nearly scoring a try in the last minutes of the half. This came from a line out outside the the try line, the ball was thrown to long but Callahan caught it and powered towards the line with Möäron and Berdoas rushing to defense, Callahan went over the line, but After a call up to the TMO it was decided that he was held up and the try was not given, the first half ended 12-14, with Khytenna looking aggressive.

Khytenna made two substitutions before the start of the second half, Green came on for Allington and Arron Sergen came on for Wentworth making his first start for Khytenna.

Roy Callahan scored the next try for Khytenna, it was thanks to a team effort by the forwards, they won a lineout deep in the Kulvertint half outside the Tryline, turning it into a maul which got in centermeters from the line, before Callahan made a run for the line, he went over and this time there was no doubt over it and was awarded straight away. Dawson converted the Try putting Khytenna back into the lead, 19-14 the score.

Kouralavska retook the lead for Kulvertint, after a couple of phases, Kulvertint and created a 2 man overlap and greatly exploted it, and Kouralavska ran down the edge of the pitch and scored a driving try, this was also converted and Kulvertint was back in the lead, 21-19 to the tourists.

Amazingly, it took only 7 minutes for Khytenna to respond, with Sergen getting his first try for his country. Khytenna Callahan and Kazin made on of the best turn overs of the game, and one that directly resulted in a try, Levi Forbes made a super tackle against Farransza and Callahan and kazin piled over the top legaly and turned the ball over, in the confusion Green popped the ball to Sergen and away he went rushing all the way to try line to get his first try for his country, Khytenna where back in the lead and the Try was converted this time by Green to make it 26- 21 and with only 7 minutes to go, Khytenna looked like they where going to win their first game.

Kulvertint however managed to pull something out od the bag thanks to the boat of Berdoas, a penalty he received was 33 meters out and at an awqward angle, but he managed just get the ball though the posts to make it 26-24, now only 3 points away from victory.

Berdoas got the three points in the dying seconds of the game, a turn over ball just infrount of the half way line provided an opertunity for Kulvertint to attack, but with the time about to run out, Berdoas knew that his team wouldn't be able to get any clouser without loosing the ball, he instead asked for the ball for a drop goal attempt, and on the half way line he made a massive kick, it was going straight for posts, and it just went over to win the game for Kulvertint.

the Khytenna fans where in complete shock, and so was Berdoas who probably didn't think he had it in him, another lose for Khytenna, even after a much improved performance and effort.

Khytenna make massive changes in the line up before the next game in Transversa, Felix puts on new players like Alexander, Brenford and LI, but he rests Dawson and Gives the captaincy to Callahan.

Island news

A close game for Khytenna, but the home team take the win.

Kulvertint played well and got the four try's that won the game, But Khytenna's young team and captaincy brought the game to Kulvertint, especaly in the second half where they took the lead.

Khytenna- 24
Tries: Li, Kazin, Tally
Conversions: Green (3)
Penalties: Green
Drop goal:

Kulverint- 28
Tries: Farransza, Jarro-Timaaten, Maartena (2)
Conversions: Berdoas (3)
Penalties: Berdoas
Drop Goal:

The 77,000 was filled to the brim last night, mainly with Kulverint fans, but a large number of Khytenna's made the journey to see the Six Islands Play, and all fans where in for a treat in this frilling game.

It would be Kulverint who would entertain the home crowd first with the opening try of game, it came from Farransza (who so far has been the best player on the Kulverint team) who was given space on wing he ran towards the corner of the try zone looking to pass it back to the inside center but managed to dumpy past Li and push of a tackle by Talley to score the opening try for Kulvertint, it was converted by the ever on target Berdoas, who made it 7-0.

Kulverint looked in control of the game in this half, putting Khytenna under good presure and making sure the ball was in their half of the pitch, the pressure paid when they got their second try of the game thanks to Lock Jarro-Timaaten, the Kulvertint forwards made a break and Khytenna scrambled their defense, they drived low and recycled the ball well, Jarro-Timaaten just managed to push himself over the try line to get the second try of the game, Kulverint was looking in control of the game, and Khytenna was struggling to get a foothold of the game.

They managed to get 3 points towards the end of the half, Khytenna did well to drive up the and get to the 22, but J. Koulevski was court entering a ruck illegaly and Khytenna had a penalty, Green decided to go for points (as time was about to run out) and his boot got Khytenna their first points of the first half.

Khytenna's second half was more successful, and they managed to get a name a score sheet for try's, that man was Li who got his first try for his country. It came from a turn over ball which was quickly recycled, Kazin made a monster tackle on Möäron, how let go of the ball on contact, it went backwards and Callahan dived on the ball and turned it over, Alexander passed the ball to the right and Arron Sargen was given space to run he weaved in and out of players before being tackled by Dominica, but he managed to pass the ball to advancing winger who dashed to the line for his first try for Khytenna, the try was converted and the stage was set for a comeback.

Khytenna took the lead thanks to the power of Kazin, the Khytennians drove there way to the try line it was in their 7 phases of play when Kazin got the ball, he palmed of the scrum half and drove himself over the line for the try, he bulldozed through Lapparski to get to the tryline and it was an impressive feat of power by the mohawked flanker, Green was again their with the boot, and Khytenna took the 17-14 lead.

Khytenna wasn't done yet, and Talley was next up to get his first try for the Six islands, this try came from the cleaver play from the backs, the ball was passed down the line to lee, who darted back inside the pitch, before passing it wide to Decker, he made lots of ground before passing it back outwide again to Talley who went over the line for his first try and Khytenna's 3rd. it was converted and Khytenna where 24-14 ahead, With Kulverint needing more then a converted try to regain the lead.

Hopes for a win for Khytenna was dashed after Maartena scored two try's to win the game. the first came from a Terrible mistake by Talley, a high kick was made with Maartena chasing the ball down, Talley went to catch it but mistimed the catch and missed the catch, it was gathered up quick by Maartena who went over to score the try under the posts. the try was converted easily and Kulverint was back in the game at 21-24

Maartena sealed the game for Kulverint with his second try, Kulverint got a penalty towards the end of the game, seeing that they had time, they decided not go for points and went for the touchline and a throw in, the kick was good and put them just outside of the tryline, Kulvertint won the lineout made a maul but passed ball out quick, Maartena recieved the ball and ran towards the corner of the try zone, he managed to get straight their and score the try, the home crowd went crazy as they won that game in final moments, the try was converted with the final score at 28-24 to home team.

Khytenna must feel that once again the game was snapped away from them, there game has improved so much and they are stepping ever closer to a win.

With Kulvertint looking for a double whitewash and Khytenna knocking on the door for a win, The tour will be getting ever more interesting as all Eyes will be in Àite to see what should be an amazing game.

Khytenna only make two changes for their next game, with Green moving to Scrum half, Dawson returns at Fly-Half. and Jean Authement returns at winger.

1. Loosehead Prop- Max Good (Persepi)
2. Hooker- Ed Henry (Ginto RFC)
3. Tighthead Prop- Kevin Dill (ginto)

Two players have announced their impending retirements today: Martijn Kouralavska, star of the past and former captain, is making way for "the younger generation" as his "glory days are over now." He will be missed.

However, arguably a larger loss with Christijan Uibeck at scrum half, who is retiring "to raise a family." Christijan is in the top 3 for world scrum halves, and will be a massive loss, however, he shan't be missed, as he will be coaching numbers 8, 9 & 10 on getting coded messages and signals to each other, as well as getting used to each other playing with each other, since Koulevski is new, this may help a lot.

Both players have, therefore, been put on the starting lineup for the final match in front of 123,000 spectators in the Stadia de la Kulverint, in Derastüun, for their big send offs.

Kulverint Escape With Draw In Schkottland!
Scintillating second half display from boys in black saves blushes in Schkottland

Kulverint had their first real scare last night, in Àite, Schkottland. Khytenna showed the first piece of flair that we'd seen, well, ever. Clearly playing against such experienced and challenging opponents has made them a more improved side overall, and was that not the aim of this whole tour for everyone? Anyway, Grand Slams and undefeated streaks out of the way (17 games, by the way, but that's not important right now!), what we saw last night in Schkottland was a brilliant bit of rugby, both sides playing their hearts out, and neither, eventually, getting the advantage, although Berdoas didn't seem particularly on form drop goal wise last night.

The game began with the anthems, as is normal in these affairs, before the now traditional Berdoas call of "Kamaté?" ("Ready?") followed by the usual loud, intimidating shout of "Kamaté!" back from every member of the side, finishing off with the Berdoas shout of "R@a!" ("Go!"). Immediately, the Khytennans showed an improvement. Where before, Farransza would have barged through the lot of them, this time, their forwards were ready, and Farransza's barge, whilst still damaging enough to push back the defence, was not enough to secure the ball for Kulverint. Instead, Khytenna began an attack of their own, very nearly scoring a try early on. What happened next, however, was the stuff of brilliance and daring we've been hoping to see for most of this tour, each side taking their chances when they came, each side with readily able fullbacks, stopping the attack in its tracks (although only just on a couple of occasions) and winning the ball for their side. That left us in minute 28, when new star fullback, aged just 19, Daanjik Moultaravsta was injured in a particularly hefty shunt with Decker. Decker was given a warning by the referee, but no card was shown.

This, however, opened the door for Khytenna, and they efficiently exploited the weakness left when Petrii Laatikainen had to come on to replace him. Petrii is normally a winger for his club, Der Peninsula de la Kulverint Brachtia, but any major reshuffling would have to wait for half time. It was this waiting, however, that nearly sealed Kulverint's fate. In 10 minutes of madness, Khytenna scored 27 points that it would take Kulverint a full 40 to get back. The first score was a try by centre Arron Sergen, dipping and darting between the backs, before steaming through Laatikainen, who was almost defenceless and the try was brilliantly scored in the corner. The conversion attempt went wide in the heavy oceanic wind (coming over, quite coincidentally, from Kulverint) proving too much for Roy Callahan, Khytennan no. 8 and kicker.

The next wave of attack culminated in a penalty for Khytenna, which was cooly put over in testing circumstances, and a yellow card for Junni Lapparski, the last thing Kulverint would have wanted. Now their forwards would struggle to win ball, and their fullback was not very reliable either. In the next attack, however, the Kulverintians held their own, legally this time, and Callahan went into the pocket for a drop goal attempt, which was converted easily. Next came the second try of the match from wing Jean Authement, brilliantly sidestepping a panicked Wilhelmus Farransza, not usually an advisable thing to do, and bravely powering past Laatikainen to score in the corner. This time the wind favoured Callahan, who converted well. Then yet another wave of attack came, resulting in another Khytennan drop goal, once more from Callahan majestically exiting the ruck to score the drop goal. Just to put a sting in the tail of this horrific 10 minute period, a penalty was scored by Callahan to put the half time score at Kulverint 0-27 Khytenna. The match looked sealed, and Kulverint were stunned.

In the dressing room, Tommi Junkuarlaski only gave a quick word of support before sitting down with his coaches and discussing his available options with the players he had. In the end, many a change was needed. Farransza and Laatikainen would swap positions, whilst Jos Ferana would come off for the more steady hands of Christijan Uibeck. Ferana will need a lot of coaching ahead of the next world cup if he is to be able to match the brilliant, but outgoing, Uibeck. Meanwhile, Lapparski would be replaced when he came back on for Jüllart@ Kré@ana, a younger, more aggresive lock. Finally, Jarri Koulevski would be replaced by the much more experienced hands and feet of Johnaki Missenta. The game was back on.

Immediately, the effects of the Kulverintian pressure could be told. Dominica put on his now traditional burst of pace before being upended in a tackle by Khytennan centre Derrick Decker. Normally a red anyway, Decker was doomed as he had already recieved a warning for violent conduct earlier in the game. Kulverint immediately capitalised on this weakness in the middle of the park, and when Farransza joined the line from fullback, he powered through the gap, shoving James Talley out of the way on the way to a brilliant opening score for Kulverint. The conversion was a simple one for Berdoas. 7 down, 20 points to go. There was then a bit of a lull in play, as Khytenna kept the ball in with their forwards, terrified of what would happen should they take it out into the backs, much to the ire of the spectators. Eventually, though, they had to give way, and the ball went out to their backs. Immediately, it was stolen by Kulverint, who set about getting Berdoas into drop goal range (about the halfway line). He did everything expected of him, and fired it in, despite the heavy rain and wind, to give Kulverint 3 more points.

The next set of points came from a brilliant try from debutant Petrii Laatikainen, who brilliantly side-stepped several players, before offloading to Maartena, who took it into contact around the Khytennan 22 metre line. However, when the ball came out, Laatikainen did the same again, only this time getting into the corner for a try. Berdoas' ever present boot left Kulverint just 10 points away from Khytenna's total.

However, the team seemed to relax at this point. Too much, one might say, for their next points didn't come until the 75th minute when Li made a horrible tackle on Dominica. Khytenna were lucky to escape without another red there, but a yellow would suffice for Kulverint. They were now within a score of levelling the points tally. All that was left now was to exploit this new gap on Kulverint's right. Laatikainen did all he could, but the fullback was on it, covering well, so it was left to new boy Möäron, surely Kulverint's best newcomer since Wilhelmus Farransza himself, to save the blushes of the side and extend their unbeaten run to 17 games with a beautiful try underneath the posts, which Berdoas easily converted. Try as they might, the Kulverintians could not do any more against a resolute Khytennan defence, who probably deserved a draw, not for their performance today (their discipline was awful!) but for their commitment and pride in playing for their country over the entire series. We extend our congratulations, but hope for vengeance in Prachiana, at the Milverki Memmoria Stadia, created to remember Kulverint's greatest president, Friansza Milverki. We will all be watching with interest.

For the last 2 matches, the Kulverintian RFU has introduced these 3 new kits:

Image

The traditional all black Kulverint kit has been enhanced with some red stripes, as can be seen in the top left corner of our flag.

Again, the traditional orange and black has been enhanced with more interesting shaping for the black sections. The orange is a tribute the large, rugby playing Dutch population of Kulverint.

A very different look to the usual maroon and gold alternate kit, the blue, white and red are the colours of the Kulverintian Rugby Football Union, and were the original kit colours in our first match, against Swartaz in 1887.

Island news

A lacklustre slump to another loss

Although the score line reflects well on Khytenna, the Six islands played with little flair and where dominated by Kulverint. the only moment Khytenna showed some sort of brilliance ended up with try's, but in the end Kulerint was the deserved winners

Khytenna- 19
Tries: Green
Conversions: Dawson
Penalties: Dawson (2), Green (2)
Drop goal:

Kulverint- 27
Tries: Berdoas, Ferana (2)
Conversions: Berdoas (3)
Penalties: Berdoas (2)
Drop Goal:

Khytenna left gaps and overlaps that where exploited by Kulverint all game, Kulverint however got their first points thanks to points scored from the kick, within the first 5 minutes, Khytenna gave away penalties that where easily put away for the points, however Khytenna seemed to switch off at one point when they gave away a penalty they walked away thinking that the kick would be made, instead Berdoas took the quick ball and managed to run away with it for a try, he converted it himself, Khytenna were red faced, what a mess up they made of that.

Khytenna's only try of the game was quite spectacular, Khytenna had managed to rob a line out ball deep in the Kulverint half a proceeded to drive for the line, with the 5 phases passing the scrum half made a dummy and dived over the ruck with the ball to score a try, the try was converted by Dawson and the half ended with the score 12-7.

Kulverint made heavy use of the wing this game, with fantastic success scoreing two try's in the second half, the first came from great work from the forward pack, smashing their way forward, Khytenna rushed to defence and left a three man overlap, this was exploited and Ferana was left with open space scoring Kulverint second try, his second try was very simular to the first with the forwards smashing their way forward and creating overlaps and exploited by Kulverint, both was converted putting the Kulverint score to 27.

Ferana nearly got a third try, another over lap was created he got the ball and charged down the wing, however Talley got their in time to make a tackle, Ferana grounded the ball but the TMO showed his foot was way in touch.

Khytenna's only really consolation was their kicking game was well in form, with two long rang kicks from Dawson and two others from Green put Khytenna to 19 point before the final whistle.

Khytenna will looking for more flair and more aggression if they are going to make anything in the next game, a good drilling from that captain was heard on the pitch and of it, and Felix isn't going to allow his team to be pushed around like that.
