Matchday 2 - Round-up

Well, Well, Well. What a day some brilliant games and result in all of them. No draws each game produced 3 points and the table has changed massively. So...
Game 1- The Megastars holders of the biggest win so far were halted by the hosts 2-0 meaning Yiland hold 1st place. A first half brace from RICHARD Grover (34) (41) was enough to secure the important win.
Game 2- Two of last week losers fought out a tough game with the Thatians recovering best from the last game and also being able to field a full strenght side. The Thatians scored on the hour mark to move up to 7th and keep the Forestz Tigers now firmly bottom and yet to gain a point.
Game 3- The Dragons vs the Bears. This game was also very tight and the Silverian Bears were just able to edge out a battling Tryienne with an injury time goal (90+2)
Game 4- The Riakou Avengers really came to life this week with a fine performance agaisnt a strong looking Savski Venac team. Riakou have now moved up to 2nd following this win and Savski have dropped to outside the playoff zone. Goals were (34), (72) and (75).
Game 5- Lysberg vs Phoen' an interesting game full of drama and some fantastic goals but Lysberg managed to hang on the lead after a fierce comback and have moved up to 3rd and a playoff position. But theres still a long way to go. Goals were Lysberg- (23) and (45+1) and Phoen' (81)

Silver Beach fights for 1-0 win against the Dragons!

In Game 2 of the Yiland International Football Cup, the Silverian national team squeaked out a win against the Dragons. It was an evenly matched game, with a goal from a header off of a corner kick two minutes into stoppage time after the second half, with Alejandro Romano being the recipient. It was an evenly matched game from the start, and Silver Beach started to make its climb back up the standings of the YIFC.

In the first half, this was an evenly matched game, with each time getting one good opportunity, and great saves being made from each goalkeeper. In the 22nd minute, the Dragons striker hit a wonderful volley towards the net from the penalty spot, but a diving save from Cameron Tabanou kept the game at 0-0. Sean Johnson, in the 38th minute, also bent a free kick towards the edge of the 6 yard box and Jenkins got his head on it, but a wonderful leaping save from the Dragons goalkeeper kept the game scoreless going into the half.

In the second half, the game stayed evenly matched. Neither time got a standout scoring opportunity, as the ball stayed in the midfield most of the time during the second half. However, in the 83rd minute, a striker for the Dragons hit the underside of the crossbar, and that was their best chance of scoring. In the 1st minute of stoppage time, Silver Beach won a corner kick. Captain Sean Johnson took the kick, and bent it in towards the head of Romano, who buried it in the top left hand corner of the net(90+2) to the delight of Silverian fans, and the game soon ended to give Silver Beach a 1-0 victory over the Dragons.

This victory puts Silver Beach back in the running for the playoffs of this international tournament. They are now in 6th place, and need to finish top 4 to move onto the next roudn of the cup. While the draw is not decided for round 3 of the cup, we will give you a review like we always do. The Silverian manager, like always, says that Silver Beach needs to score more goals, and will make a change for the 3rd match of the tournament, no matter who the opponent is, inserting Samuel Brown into the starting lineup for Travis Edwards.

The Tryienne National Sport Tribune.

Tryienne Dragons play draw against Yiland warriors.

Greetings, dear sportsfans, our glorious team, the Dragons, have played a draw against their latest oponent, the Yiland Warriors. Our team haven't got a real great start in this competition, but let's hope that this draw will be a start for the rest of the championship. But with no adue, here's the review of the match: The Dragons had a great lead by scoring the first point in the 15th minute. Our captain, Ralph Capson, scored the point by kicking his ball towards the goal and passing the goalkeeper of Yiland. Our team had the upperhand trough the rest of the match, until the 37th minute, when Carl Slater of Yiland scored a corner to the goal of the Dragons. The Dragons held the upperhand trough the begining of the second half, Dmitry Loganov scoring a penalty to the Yiland goal in the 55th minute, but as the second half went by, the Yiland Warriors more and more gained the upperhand, scoring the second goal by Sean Cowans in the 77th minute. The Dragons tried to fight back, but even with the extra time, they couldn't make another chance.

Johnny Vorsegas, signing out!!

Riakou News Hour

"Yes it certainly looks to like the Riakou Avengers are bringing back some glory after that shameful draw but to the Savski Venac, who won the last game by a landslide victory, perhaps they got too confident in their moment of truimph, seems that Riakou are now stepping up to their game, partly because the government told them to, partly because they'll most likely be "Axed" if they bring back any shame, for full details on the scoring log onto their website or check it up with Savski Venac's news channel"

Silver Beach dominates Bulls; wins 2-1

In the 3rd matchday of the Yiland International Football Cup, Silver Beach dominated the Bulls of Carthage, scoring 2 goals in the first half to take a 2-1 victory, their second straight in the touranament. The decision to move Samuel Brown into the starting lineup worked wonders for Silver Beach, as he had a great game and won our man of the match. He went off to a standing ovation of Silverian fans in the 77th minute with a subsitution.

IN the first half, Silver Beach dominated the Bulls of Carthage. Silver Beach scored twice, both on headers, and Brown created lots of opportunities. The 1st goal came in the 12th minute, where Brown brought the ball up on a counter-attack. Brown then passed the ball to Johnson, who crossed the ball in. Jacob Jenkins was there, and the star striker for Silver Beach headed it into the back of the net for a 1-0 lead. In the 34th minute they scored again, this time off of a corner from Lionel Lushinski, where Centre-back Joseph Givens put the ball from his head to the back of the net to make it 2-0.

The second half was all Silver Beach as well, as they dominated possesion 58-42 over the Bulls. The game was never as close as the scoreline suggested, as some spectacular saves by the Bulls goalkeeper kept the game only at 2-0. The Bulls scored in the 2nd minute of stoppage time(90+2) off of a free kick that was a bender, but the game soon ended after that. This means that Silver Beach, with 2 wins in a row, has momentum. However, the manager says they still need to score more goals if they want to leave this tournament a winner.
