The Gunners would once again finish at the top of the regular season tables--though ironically, it was only their previous season, in which they'd been fourth, that saw them qualify for international play! And once again, they'd fall short in the playoffs, going the distance but losing to the Western Jacks. The other returning playoff team from the previous season, in contrast, had a much easier time of things, as the Bloodhounds swept their way to victory against the Humanizts, who were disappointed, but less so than usual.

The Bloodhounds would win the first two games of the final series on the road, but their beloved home-field advantage really fell flat against the Jacks. With their backs to the wall, they had some flashes of strength in game 6, but those would not pay out as the Jacks won 3-2 to become champions, ten seasons after their first title.

At this rate they'll have to install retro newspaper stands, just for the heck of it. Hmm, it's too bad they didn't have a great winning streak or anything to get excited about at the beginning of the season, having lost their first game to the Northwest Endurance. Oh well, doesn't matter now!

Qualifiers:
1. Western Jacks
2. South Borogoves
3. Char Bloodhounds
4. Eastern Gunners

Oh, boy. You guys are going to hate me for saying this but... Well, I have also lost interest on hosting for a couple of reasons. I will post the international rankings though, at least, so that someone with way more ability and power than myself can host it.

So, I have given some thought around and... now that I have more time, I'm thinking that I could (and should, because Hockey deserves more love and no one seems to want to host it) return with the CHL. But I'm not too confortable with the current ranks. I have been thinking about restarting everything and then start recording stuff from there on, maybe with some advantage to the nations who already won stuff here and there. Any objections?

I wouldn't mind if you reconfigured the rankings, but starting completely over isn't needed, imo.

IMO we should look to find a better way to do the rankings if you don't like what we already have, and just do the math to figure out the new rankings based on the currently used tournaments in the rankings. IT might mean a bit of quick math to get the new rankings sorted and such but it might be useable.

Also we could just get CH to tell us his UICA secrets and use that formula to figure it out.

It's just that the current ranking is huge. Maybe giving the points based on the nation, instead of just the team, with a bonus based on positions sounds easier to be done than what we currently have.

Even after you ditch all the teams and nations currently on 0.00? After I did that with baseball, the list shrunk to about half of what it used to be (looking at the CHL list, this works not as well, but it'll be close). The rankings currently go back for 5 cycles, but you could make that 3 or 4, as well. Anyway, I'm glad you want to revive this thread!

I thought that someone would eventually try to spark it out, but no one seems to want to host the whole thing, so...

Well, it would be way easier to work with instead of trying to deal with the original rank and edit it. I didn't plan to change the nation part, though.

Instead of counting team coefficients, rank teams by their nations' coefficients, then add a bonus related to their position at their national league. It would:
1) Take out the job of having to update that tiresome list of teams
2) Increase the competition considerably

That's my idea, I think it'd be way easier and faster to do. Not sure about where do I place my cut-off.

While you're at it, you could ditch all the separate bonuses for my puppets and have a single one for the SHL instead. I'm going to have to turn that whole thing upside down one way or the other.

That's a good idea. I'll do that soon. Also, announcing the cut-off for the CHL. Our cut-off will be September 27, 2013 - 21:00 BRT. It will also be the cut-off for what stadium will host the finals, also what company will sponsor the tournament for five cycles.

Just giving some extra time. Our new cut-off will be at October 18, 2013 - 21:00 BRT, thanks to the EAF and a couple of issues related to school stuff.

Maritime Hockey League: Season 1

Since the Greater Maritime Union's formation, many sports leagues have been formed. Handball, baseball and football being the only ones so far. But now, it's time for the nation's national sport to get in on the action. Season 1 of the Maritimes Hockey League starts now! Out of 20 teams, 8 will make the playoffs. The top team from the regular season, 2 finalists, and the winner of a play-off between losing semifinalists. (If one of the finalists is the top team, 2nd will qualify. If one of the semifinalists is the top team, both semifinalists will qualify.) Here we go!
