Beaverriver Upsets Matting
After having a terrible start in the West Guiana Invite Now #3 Beaverriver(1-2) upsets #1 Matting(2-1) 5-4 In a thrilling end. "We ignore the last two results in the invite and focus on winning the game" said Liza Greenwill after the game. "I'm proud of what my teammates done on the field today and show what Beaverriver's spirit truly is. Some key plays includes a diving catch by Nelson Corns and the Walk off home run by Julianne Knicks. "After I hit the ball, I was shocked and once it went over the fence." Said Julianne Knicks "My teammates were congratulating me once I reached home plate and we had a small party, and at around 10:00 coach said to go to sleep." Clinton Shariner, Manger of Matting's team sent to play here, said "Out of our(Matting's) 3 games at the start of competition this (game) is the one I thought we'd (Matting) definitely win! Before the game I was 99% sure we'd (matting) win, and it appears to have rubbed off on the players. I take full responsibility for the loss and i'll make sure that this result makes us stronger and that we (Matting) come back fighting and win this tournament!" Our manger Christian Fern said "We try to focus on one game at a time and don't look forward pass group play because never may get to the knock out rounds. We both played well in this game but we came out has the better team today." Beaverriver is now #7 out of 8 teams in the tournament while Matting is #2. Beaverriver shall play Nicole Riche tomorrow at Jackie Memorial Park. Matting will play against West Guiana the host at Jackie Memorial Park tomorrow after Beaverriver vs. Nicole Riche.

Breaking News!

This is breaking news from the MSL head quarters in Gemsbrook, Myto, league officials have just confirmed that after the first ever WG invite, they will be renaming the tournament to the World Championship of Mens Softball, the second edition would start about five to six days after the first edition ends. They will be modeling the tournament roughly after the World Cup, with bids to host the championship starting the same day as sign ups. The rankings after this current edition will be set as World Softball rankings seeing how there are no other rankings for softball.

(I was fully aware of that. (Main reason why I created this one) Softball is hardly played in NS Sports.)

Three in a row!
Well three loses in a row, the WG national Softball team started the invite with a bang, but has since come to a halt, the team now sits at 1-3, after now being swept by Matting by a score of 1-2. The national team may not be doing so well, but the invite its self is doing very well and will continue after this one is done by changing the name to the World Championship of Mens Softball. Head Coach Hinlke says that the team wont being going on to the playoffs but hope for at lest one more win, after today, but though the team isn't doing well the invite is getting big hits.

Matting back to winning ways

After yesterdays shock defeat, Matting came back stronger and beat hosts West Guiana 2-1 to secure their place in the playoffs.

Clinton Shariner said this after the match "Very good win, but i'm making sure that nobody thinks about yesterdays result and how we could be 4-0. We still need 2 straight wins to end the group stage, to make sure we have some momentum going into the playoffs. I'm very proud of the players and i'm sure everybody is back home."

Matting secures playoff spot
Matting secured their place in the West Guiana Invite Softball tournament playoffs with a 5-3 victory over Beaverriver. Despite the win Matting still drop to 2nd in the Group A Table due to Nicole Riche's big win.

Clinton Shariner is delighted to be back on form "Another fantastic result, but once again we need to follow it up with another win. 1 win tomorrow, followed by 2 sweeps in the playoffs, this would be an amazing achievement. We need everyone back home's support!"

Darmeni Softball Never looked Better
The Darmen National Softball Team is one of the best teams in the world, and that showed today when the Darmenians beat the Commonwealth of Isles, 5-3. Abdel-salam Begum, yes, the guy born to a Muslim father and Jewish mother(or was it the other way around), started Game 2 of the West Guiana Invite Finals, and won in dominating fashion. After giving up three runs in the first inning, Begum shut down the CoI offense, recording 13 strikeouts, and not allowing a single base runner to get past first. The series is now tied at 1-1.

West Guiana Invite Update
The #1 team in the world(according to the Darmen Softball Rankings), Darmen, won the third game of the West Guiana Invite Finals in dominating fashion, 8-1. Darmen now leads the series 2-1, and with a win in game four, Darmen would cling the Invitational Championship.

The Darmen team is know for their pitching, and having pitchers that can throw in the lower 80’s really helps. If the team is able to win in Game 4 and gain the championship, it would be the second title for a Darmen National Team in a week. The Darmen National Soccer Team won the Graveyard Cup a week ago.

Well it seems Team Darmen was too much for CoI after the first game. Had CoI won this game it would have pushed for the fifth game, but that didn't happen. Realizing game five wont help CoI any more, however though the Championship round is best out of Five even though Darmen has already clinched the win.
Finals Game four

And as in tradition with other ceremonies, the trophy is always named after the coach who held the first one. So from here on the Champion who wins the West Guiana Invite from now on will be raising the Hamza Mammadov Trophy!

Congratulations to Darmen, the Winner of the West Guiana Softball Meet. We would like to reward your team to a sunny vacation to the Gulf Isles, C.I. (two weeks), as well as a bat with the team and manager's signature, and a bottle of 67 year old cognac.
