I should have the updated IBC rankings up sometime tomorrow night after the final result is posted (Andromeda is #1, Cassadaigua needs a win to pass Qazox for #2). I've noticed that they're going to be used in the WHS. I'm glad to see a minor basketball tournament starting up, but I don't really have the time to participate in it.

Would we, by any chance, be able to run the IBC on a more frequent schedule next year? I'd like to have 3 opportunities, rather than 2, to win my first IBC next year.

I decided to use them in WHS because the one thing I dislike about the International Baseball Slam is the different ranking system that is used. It's not like the team becomes suddenly way worse or way better when they go to a different tournament. It's much more simple to use the one ranking system that is already in place. Thank you for updating the rankings so quickly!

I second the idea of running IBC more frequently next year. I haven't been here too terribly long, but it has been about six months and this IBC was the first one I saw.

Sister Polus will probably be returning tomorrow (in the World Cup RP thread), so I'm sure she'll have something to say about that.

Same with Kristen Camayen and Niko Montoya.

As for the IBS and it's different ranking system: I think it forces higher-ranked nations to stop cruising and RP. But I can see why many wouldn't want to go through the process of gaining ranking more than once, so I'll consider a switch to WBC rankings.

It really seems to me that with the IUBC and other basketball tournaments getting off the ground, we've got enough interest to make the IBC a more frequent event, to bring basketball in line with baseball and gridiron as second-tier NS Sports.

Thank you, and congratulations.

Thanks to Saintland for updating the rankings.

I give myself about a 7/10 on the hosting. This was my first time hosting for some time, and I had forgotten a few things about xkoranate that slowed me up in the group stages. As Pattistan pointed out, I neglected to TG everyone when the tournament was starting. And my own RPing got a bit sparse as I was busier than expected during December. Still, I was pleased with the level of participation and I enjoyed reading the RPs.

I also agree with those calling for a more regular IBC tournament in 2014. I do think it's worth remembering we have an annual Olympic basketball tournament, though, so it would be good to avoid overlap with that.

Congrats to Cassadaigua on completing their Super Grand Slam as Qazox said! I still have four tournaments to go, but I probably shouldn't be complaining less than a week after I won the WBC 28...

If you're wondering why I haven't thanked the Dark Star Republic, I have.

Apologizes for another gravedig

I would support a notion for three IBC's per year, but when is the best time to hold one? We just had two minor tournaments (three if I decide to open signups for the TdP) and the NSCAA coming (presumably?) this March.

And another question. I think this was asked or debated before, but is there a possibility to have an IBC council in the near future?

Maybe after the NSCAA and toward the tail end of the next World Cup? If so, that means the signup thread needs to go up several weeks in advance of that point.

World Bowl, World Baseball Classic, and World Cup say yes. Minor tournaments generally lean to the "no" side. World Cup of Hockey is debating. We probably should be too.

I'd support three IBCs too, but the problem is mid-summer.

You could have signups in November, when basketball season starts
You could have signups in March, which roughly corresponds with the start of the NCAA Tournament
You could have signups in July...there's no real basketball in July. This is the problem.

I'd support three IBCs too, but the problem is mid-summer.

You could have signups in November, when basketball season starts
You could have signups in March, which roughly corresponds with the start of the NCAA Tournament
You could have signups in July...there's no real basketball in July. This is the problem.

Just to eliminate the possibility, what about a WIBC to coincide with the WNBA? Or a U-18 to coincide with the summer leagues?

I was going to tackle the World Cup of Hockey with this first, but agree there should be one here as well.

Gender specific tournaments are not popular in NS Sports. And particularly with the IBC, how can a "women's tournament" be considered secondary when an all-female team just took home the IBC title. If anything you need a men's only tournament. ;)

U-18 would be the way to go. I'm also wanting to do NSCAA 6 this year in a much less "rushed" fashion.

I realized as soon as I posted that that I was a moron. A U-18 would be a lot of fun, I think, especially with the added attention to high school stars in recent (post-LBJ) years.

EDIT: This is Taijan, btw.

A minor heads up...

Apologies for having the IUBC in a brief hiatus. Me and Buyan plan to hold the third IUBC in its current format after the Campionato Esportiva IX, so it would be around the week of February 10-14. Stay tuned for updates.
