Is a Change a Comin'?

To say this is a crucial World Cup for the Milchama Warriors would be an understatement. It is beyond critical, it is essential that the Warriors qualify. While a series of shock qualifications saw the Warriors return to their traditional place as usual qualifiers who lose in octofinals. However, the last few World Cups have stopped that as Milchama has struggled to qualify and the current ranking of the Warriors reflects this struggle. So now, this cup, the Warriors need to reverse the ranking trend and start moving up for a change. Obviously, the big thing is that they need to qualify for the World Cup.

So really, as always, it's qualify or bust for Milchama.

Come on You Warriors!

Roster

GOALKEEPERS

1 - Adolf Dumitrescu - X Island Marauders (Taeshan) 66 Caps, 28 Years Old
A rather impressive run of form from Dumitrescu helped the Fire Ants qualify for the world cup for only the second time in team history. To do that again he will continue to have to be at top form for his national team and all signs points to this as being a possibility.

23 - Martin Anghelescu - Bayern-Algaer (Taeshan) 1 Cap, 21 Years Old
The future of Antoletian keeping, Martin is a solid third string for now while he waits for his own time to come.

24 - Luca Hagi - Whilliumiborough Swagger(Paradystopia) 0 Caps, 18 Years Old
When we said Martin was the future of Antoletian keeping that was before young hotshot Hagi came onto the scene and now has put the backups chances of being that future star in jeopardy.

DEFENDERS
2 - LB, Niculae Ricard - New Capetown Falcons (Taeshan) 71 Caps, 29 Years Old
The left back position is in good hands with New Capetown's Ricard. During his 3rd term as starter the left flank was well manned and appropriately guarded.

3 - LCB, Sheyenne Augustini - Real Chinchinhua (Taeshan) 48 Caps, 24 Years Old
Honestly not much was expected of the new center defender in only his second tournament but Augustini proved to be up to his part. He took the international qualifiers by storm and really proved to be the brawn to Alec Raț's brains.

4- RCB, Alec Raț - Atlantea Hurricanes (Taeshan) 111 Caps, 2 Goals, 27 Years Old
The vice captain Raț managed to surpass the 100 caps mark during the last qualifiers and looked impressive as he shored up the defense and helped lead the Ants to the world cup. Now the question really is was it a one trick pony?

7- RB, Mathew Cannibus - Mierton Manatees (Taeshan) 77 Caps 1 Goal, 26 Years Old
If the left side has the defense its the right side that has the problems. But that can be expected when your RB is basically a right winger speeding up and down the field. That said if the Ants want to make it back to the cup they will have to get Cannibus to defend a bit more than he is used to.

12 - DF, Virgil Cobacaru - Real Atlantea (Taeshan) 9 Caps, 21 Years Old
The young defender is a very strong looking center back who many believe is the future of the Antoletian defense.

17 - DF, Percival Devine - Atlantea Hurricanes (Taeshan) 13 Caps, 20 Years Old
The other really young defender is also a hopeful to become a strong defender in the future.

21 - DF, Decebal Funar - X Island Marauders 1 Caps, 17 Years Old
The now 17 Funar got his first cap late in a qualifier last term, but with the players ahead of him he is likely to see little action anytime soon.

MIDFIELDERS

5 - LM, Gheorghe von Leeweonheouck - Ituributa United (Ituributa) 112 Caps, 32 Goals, 25 Years Old
The man on the team most recognizable to foreigners is the left midfielder. gheorghe is a fast winger type with a strong free kick ability and a smart head on his shoulders. And he plays for a club in a nation high up in the club rankings.

9 - CDM, Cristian Kafka - Blacklake Blues. (Taeshan) 43 Caps, 2 Goals, 26 Years Old
Back for a third time in the defensive midfielder is strong man Cristian Kafka who will look to shade to the right more to cover Cannibus's forward movements. He is likely to also see a lot of forward movement in the Ants offensive attack.

13 - CM, Gabriel Mohammed - Blacklake Blues (Taeshan) 89 Caps, 17 Goals, 27 Years Old
The next player likely to get to 100 caps is center midfielder Gabriel Mohammed who looks to spark the counter attack and is a viable option on set pieces.

14 - CAM, Filip Constantinescu - Tintown Terrapins (Taeshan) 145 Caps, 75 Goals, 31 Years OldCAPTAIN
Now with 75 goals in 145 caps the leader of the team Filip Constantinescu has still not announced his retirement from the international game so all bets are off as to when he does retire. For the foreseeable he will likely continue to be the man, the myth, and the legend behind the high octane Ants scoring.

22 - RM, Hannibal - South Factory (Astograth) 43 Caps, 8 Goals, 23 Years Old
On the right side of midfield the 2nd of the Ants to ply his trade in a nation other than Taeshan is Hannibal. The free kick taker back up and right corner kick taker has a knack for the pass and a speed rivaled by few on the team.

6- RM, Sylvestre Rochambeau - X Island Marauders (Taeshan) 1 Caps, 17 Years Old
Slyvestre also managed his first cap but is in a similar position as Funar, unlikely to get many minutes with the players ahead of him.

8 - MF, Remus Robideau - Tintown Terrapins (Taeshan) 2 Caps, 19 Years Old
This young midfielder has a bright future.

16 - MF, Constantine Robideau - X Island Marauders (Taeshan) 2 Caps, 19 Years Old
Ditto.

18 - MF, Awrythr Tudor - Capetown Croc's (Taeshan) 2 Caps, 17 Years Old
A new speedy winger for the team, and one of the newest members is this young man from the south of Antoletia.

20 - MF, Raphael - Moresville FC (Taeshan) 42 Caps, 7 Goals, 22 Years Old
The best option in the midfield off the bench is Raphael. He tends to be the first man on the pitch after subs begin and he and Hannibal are basically interchangeable players.

STRIKERS

11 - CF, Hiarchratez - SK Nethers (Taeshan) 97 Caps, 44 Goals, 28 Years Old
When i said Gabriel Mohammed was the next to reach 100 caps i really meant after Hiarchratez. Hiarchratez has been on the national team for over a decade now and will finally surpass the high mark that many younger than him long ago had reached.

10 - ST, Anton Gregovich - New Capetown Falcons (Taeshan) 33 Caps, 9 Goals, 24 Years Old
The tall lanky striker Anton is a star in the making and off the bench does quite well. If the Ants ever switch to a two striker attack he would be one of the favorites to be that second striker.

15 - ST, Clyde Dickens - Real Chinchinhua (Taeshan) 7 Caps, 2 Goals, 19 Years Old
He somehow managed to achieve no caps in the last qualifiers, or the world cup but with the two players ahead of him on the bench that really is no shocker in the short qualifiers that were had.

19 - ST, Preya Pavelski - Laketown Rangers (Taeshan) 25 Caps, 6 Goals, 27 Years Old
Another good striker is Preya Pavelski but beyond that he really gets pushed out of favor, even though he is the oldest non starter.

NEW SIDEBURN
Preferred Formation:
4-4-2 diamond
Secondary Formation: There are no other formations. 4-4-2 is the one true king.
Style Modifier: 0
Playstyle: Low on possession, but high on pressure, with fast play and short passing. Extremely physical, but will never dive, go to ground easily, or intentionally handball.
Home Stadium: The Farham Arena in Sabrefell. Capacity of 88,000, no attached club.
Kit Supplier: Kirola
Nickname: The Cormorants

New Sideburn suffered a frankly pathetic end to the 66 Cycle, but made up for it with a victory in the Campionato Esportiva. Now, the golden generation of the Baptism victors is on a low ebb, 30-year old Charmwell omitted from the squad and former captain Portia Thrift retiring to focus on her club - but at present, the Esportivan champions can twin experience to youth, albeit rarely in the same players. For the first time, the squad has a genuine feeling of depth to it (the 64 Cycle squad doesn't count, as 'all equally mediocre' is hardly anything to brag about) and the Annual Sideburnese Optimism Chart is set firmly at 'this is our year'. Whether that means qualification, implosion, or making it out of the group stage of the Cup of Harmony is unclear, but there's no doubt the Cormorants are out for blood.

Overall Record
70 wins - 16 draws - 22 losses
211 scored - 127 conceded

Honours
Champions of the 51st Baptism of Fire, Campionato Esportiva VI and VIII and Market Cup VI.

ALSO
I'd appreciate it if people laid off on mentioning sexual assault in posts involving me. Nothing personally serious, but I find it jarring in threads otherwise consisting of goofy football shit.

Gethin RAMSEY - 59
Manager

The hero and protagonist of the ongoing Sideburnese legend/fairy tale/joke. A manager who truly can talk a talk intimidating enough to walk a walk of its own, and its this partially terror-fuelled motivational skill that is the real secret to his success. Under his reign, the Cormorants have gone from a team unchallenged by local rivals and without any real skill or relevance on the world scale to a major power of Esportiva, perpetual World Cup qualification hopefuls, and winners of three trophies. Respect The Legend.
It's only recently Ramsey's been willing to entertain thoughts of leaving the Cormorants, though he's stated that it would only be for a truly gleaming opportunity, and only after achieving his primary objective - bringing New Sideburn to the World Cup.

Escher SPEARE - 42
Assistant Manager

The Escher Speare of yesteryear would have triangulated the optimum level of Doppler effect (taking into account the Mendoza line) for the best left-footed cross from a right-footed centreback played out of position. The Escher Speare of today would think 'ah, fuck it'. Thoroughly jaded towards numbers after a drastically inconsistent cycle, Speare is still an intelligent and highly-driven young woman, but she's left her fascination with numbers behind in the field of actual mathematics.

Auburn BYWATER - 26
Whip

Gethin Ramsey's latest member of staff has been titled his personal Whip. Her unprecedented outburst after the squad was held by Felix stole headlines, and deflected blame from the team. But Ramsey sees her as being useful in other fields, and fully intends to keep her around in a more... general role, despite youth and inexperience.
1 - Kieron RIORDAN - 29 - Wrexton FC (APX)
17 caps, 8 clean sheets

Kieron Riordan is a defining member of the new breed of Sideburnese football, very much aware of opportunities abroad to give prestige to his career. Riordan's distribution is outstanding, his acrobatics remarkable and his unflappable attitude makes him stern under pressure - with excellent form in the World Cup Qualifiers, where he began to compete with Thrift for a place in the starting lineup, and in the Campionato Esportiva, where he got five clean sheets in seven games, conceding just once before the final, Riordan's distribution is outstanding, his acrobatics remarkable and his unflappable attitude makes him stern under pressure - with excellent form in the World Cup Qualifiers, where he began to compete with Thrift for a place in the starting lineup, and in the Campionato Esportiva, where he got five clean sheets in seven games, conceding just once before the final, his place as number 1 after Thrift's retirement was always more than likely.

12 - Tana COLBRIGHT - 24 - Brinemouth
Uncapped

Colbright's stunning form in Brenecia earned her a callup as Brinemouth's backup, but when a clearly past-his-prime von Specta was shifted to Integabad, few expected Colbright to excel in the role. But the enterprising young goalkeeper has done superbly under the pressure, showing remarkable bravery and composure, along with a certain talent for wild reflex saves. A little more discipline on her line could work in her favour, as she tends to stray against set pieces, but in open play Colbright will prove her worth for country as well as club.

20 - Wilhelm URQUHART - 35 - Sabrefell Athletic
Uncapped

The veteran of the selected goalkeepers, Urquhart's been selected for two tournaments (CoH56, as a replacement for Asger Stubbs, and CE7) without being capped. A leader with great distribution, which serves his club well, but just as important is an agility far belying his years.
2 - Anna SHRIKE - 30 - Mâ Âlâmëómë (FFD)
Right-back
91 caps, 3 goals

Shrike's reaching the 'pass the torch' moment of her career, but still offers significant utility - able to play at right-midfield as well as her traditional position, Shrike brings genuine skill, experience and flair to the table, and mentally, she's a far sharper player than the error-prone tendencies earlier in her career.

3 - Karl FINNAN - 27 - Crisisbless
Centre-back
2 caps, 1 goal

A dual-citizen of Echidnation and New Sideburn, Finnan had stubbornly refused any and all callups to the former nation - his optimism paid off. A strong appearance in the Campionato Esportiva has earnt him the right of recall, and it included a courageous header against the Licentian Isles that left blood pouring from his forehead - that cemented him as a fan favourite.

4 - Cathy STOKES (c) - 27 - AFC Treason
Left-back
68 caps, 1 goal

For her club, Stokes is still the local lass come good, a stalwart for Treason ever since it grew into its own as a power of Sideburnese football. For country, she is captain (having persisted through Strongnesse, Oakwood and finally Thrift, seeing all retire), a member of what people are beginning to refer to as The OG (the 51st Baptism of Fire winning squad) and one of the team's most talented players. She's possessed of near-infinite stamina and has a workrate to match, never giving up even on seemingly lost causes. Nobody can doubt she's earned her rank.
With Portia Thrift's international retirement (to focus on club football), Stokes is now first-choice captain for the national team. She's been taking advice from Thrift, which started and repeatedly continued to revolve around breaking it off with Konrad Evans. Finally, she relented.

5 - Hadrian BELFAST - 23 - Sabrefell Athletic
Centre-back
23 caps, 0 goals

Belfast, for good reason, had many doubters once it came to light that he was to start for the national side. After all, he was just 21 at the time. But as a centre-back for Athletic, he has already covered for them in a Premiership-winning season, and his role in stopping the counter-attacks that Athletic were weak to was nothing short of crucial. Belfast is slowly cementing his place as the successor to James Yorke, but it remains to be seen if anyone can replace Rook Harm. Perhaps it would be best if nobody did.

13 - Leila CORVETTE - 28 - Maximum City
Left-back
52 caps, 0 goals

Though favoured in the WC64 days, Corvette's battle for a starting spot has slowly become a losing one. Still, the chain-smoking wingback makes up for her lack of endurance with pace and intelligence, specialising in making incisive, mazy runs deep into the enemy half. Recently signed onto Maximum City on the condition of cutting heavily on smoking in the extended off-season, it is hoped Corvette's abstinence will translate into greater stamina and athleticism, not into cravings and occasional twitches.

17 - Tosca MARLOWE - 23 - AFC Treason
Centre-back
9 caps, 0 goals

One of Treason's recent marquee players, Marlowe looks likely to fulfill expectations for club and country. While not a certain member of the starting squad yet, she's proven competent at the new high standard of play expected of her, and is getting better with age.

19 - James SLEET - 25 - AC Tallin (VAL)
Right-back
11 caps, 0 goals

Young, lean and handsome, the platinum blond 'Snowy' Sleet is another of the new breed; young, quick and playing abroad. A graduate of the much-acclaimed Eastflood academy, Sleet's still developing his attacking play but shuts down wingers with ease; a complementary figure to the wild Anna Shrike. Also of note, Sleet is the first male full-back to be selected for a full NSB WCC squad.
Snowy Sleet looks likely to succeed Anna Shrike, coming into his prime as Shrike comes into her thirties.

22 - Gareth PEARCE - 28 - North Laithland
Centre-back
Uncapped

Pearce, unusually for a Sideburnese player, made his name for a Brenecian team, Northern Union. More used to a wing- and set-piece oriented league, with more direct football than the Premiership, Pearce is extremely disciplined, good with long throws and noted for his penchant for scoring set pieces and corners - at 6'5" and 197 lbs., he's the second-largest player in the squad.
6 - Michael BRANDON - 25 - Directus (EUR)
Defensive Midfielder
25 caps, 1 goals

A quiet, intensely professional man, Brandon's unusual for a Sideburnese. His introverted, calm appearance and entirely mercenary attitude to the sport belies a striking ability to create play from deep in midfield. One of the most talented players in the squad, Brandon's youth has kept him, perhaps wrongly, from the starting squad earlier... but with these remarkable club successes, there's no doubt his time has come.
Brandon is now the third captain of the team, a role he's slotted into with his trademark professional indifference.

8 - Catheline HARPER - 27 - AFC Treason
Right Midfielder
15 caps, 3 goals

Catheline Harper blossomed with Maximum Rovers, but is now an integral part of a revitalised AFC Treason - a well-balanced midfielder, diligent in all phases of play and with a recently-acquired gift for free kicks. Heavily tattooed, Harper is a strong physical presence on the wing, but the only thing that lets her down is a tendency to fire or shoot too soon.

10 - Dale BRIGHTLEY - 28 - Basin Plain (UGO)
Attacking Midfielder
74 caps, 26 goals

New Sideburn's greatest talent, as his club attests to. He was signed curiously in BoF51, but since then it's started to make all too much sense; fast, tough and hard, utterly tireless and, while unselfish, knows when he just has to go for it himself. Definitely the most-improved player in the team.
Brightley can now boast a record as New Sideburn's second-highest goalscorer; while shy of goals initially, he's now an extremely consistent source both personally and with assists.

11 - Gareth CROWLEY - 25 - Abingdon Celtic (TLI)
Left Midfielder
25 caps, 4 goals

Gareth Crowley now has a strong, internationally recognised club to back his bid for a starting place, a battle he looks to be winning. Despite his status as one of the new breed among the squad, he's very much the classic mould for a Sideburnese winger; very fast, a thunderous left foot and no pushover physically.
Has fierce competition with Darren Parrett, but the starting XI number is indicative of Ramsey's faith in young Gareth.

14 - Chris CHRISTON - 21 - Brinemouth
Attacking Midfielder
Uncapped

A star of the Di Bradini Cups, shining above the rest of the often-mediocre Hatchlings, the time is right for Christon - Charmwell and Sedgwick are 30 and 27 respectively, giving Christon the edge of youth to complement Brightley's experience. Certainly not expected to compete for a regular starting role, but the Brinemouth midfielder will certainly give his all when he is brought out.

16 - Darren PARRETT - 25 - Alouette Jonquiere (SIC)
Midfielder
26 caps, 5 goal

Young and skilled, Darren Parrett's erratic, jinking runs down the wing have become his trademark. He's slowly evolved into a player most comfortable with short, incisive passes snapping into the box at waist-level, but he's able to just smack the ball at Gerhard Thunder's face when he has to. Not bad with a long shot, either.
Able to play on either side, Parrett will back up both the wings - Ramsey is taking a gamble on the fitness of Harper and Crowley in order to bulk out the spine of his team.

23 - Olenna DAYTONA - 30 - Maximum City
Defensive Midfielder
7 caps, 0 goals

A free kick specialist with a talent for playmaking, Daytona is otherwise a typical hard woman in the number six role - tough-tackling and relentless. Beyond medium-to-long passes and build-up play, she doesn't contribute that much to the attack, but her very presence gives the rest of the midfield the confidence to go forward, secure in the knowledge they've got backup holding the line.
7 - Gerhard THUNDER - 33 - Astograth University (ASG)
Striker
94 caps, 49 goals

New Sideburn's top scorer, bearer of the number 7 since the Baptism of Fire, target man extraordinaire and all-around Big Lad. 6'6", 211 lbs and three Iron Boots to his name, Thunder's a towering presence on the penalty area, and intimidating for any defender to deal with; moreover, he's skilled with the ball and strong with his head and his feet - he's excellent defensively, too, putting pressure on defenders in possession. The complete straightforward target man.
Six goals in nine games was a sickeningly good tally during the Campionato Esportiva, and Thunder might just hang around for a couple years' yet - still, at 33, this is almost certainly his last World Cup as the ever-present spearhead of the Sideburnese line.

9 - Konrad EVANS - 26 - Gortz United (AST)
Striker
8 caps, 5 goals

Evans' rise has been swift and dynamic. At the start of 332, he was just 'the one good player on a crap team'. With eleven goals in twenty-three games, he seemed to fuel Corvette's hopes... then he left for Astograth, and the Maulers sank like a stone without him. Evans' key attributes are his speed and agility, specialising at drawing fouls and dodging tackles, but he boasts deadly accurate shooting as well. The quick young lad to complement Thunder's size, strength and experience.
Erratic in the Campionato Esportiva, he was vital when it came down to the crunch, scoring twice in the final. He's proven his doubters wrong, but Ramsey will be hoping for a more consistent performance this time around - perhaps the enforced break-off of his relationship with captain Cathy Stokes will help matters.

15 - Cheney BITTENCOURT - 23 - AFC Treason
Striker
3 caps, 2 goals

As a strong and consistent scorer for Treason, Bittencourt was a predictable choice as a backup 'quick lad' up front, though he's certain to be fighting hard to be first in succession. Bittencourt's acceleration gives him an edge over defenders, and he has far better vision for avoiding offside than most other strikers, especially other Sideburnese.

18 - Molly KEYNES - 30 - North Laithland
Striker
3 caps, 0 goals

Keynes' spark seemed to die down shortly after being picked for the national team, and she soon faded from focus - however, the stocky, 6'1" goal poacher has risen again to prominence with North Laithland, and will provide much-needed brawn as backup to Gerd Thunder. Though she lacks his cautious, dextrous ball control, and only average accuracy with shots from the ground, she does possess far more pace, and you'll not find anyone braver when it comes to throwing oneself in the heart of the box.

21 - Keith ROWLAND - 24 - Holdenberg City (EUR)
Striker
3 caps, 1 goal

As the resident middle option for Gethin Ramsey, offering pace and skill on the ball mixed with a strong physicality, there's already an air of Barry Kearney around the young ginger - his consistent performances in a hard league have won acclaim, but as of yet he needs more of an X-Factor to assert himself as an option for the first team. Still, he's only now coming into the prime of his life, and it's yet to be seen just how much Rowland can accomplish.

1 - Kieron Riordan (Wrexton FC, APX)
12 - Tana Colbright (Brinemouth)
20 - Wilhelm Urquhart (Sabrefell Athletic)

2 - Anna Shrike (Mâ Âlâmëómë, FFD)
3 - Karl Finnan (Crisisbless)
4 - Cathy Stokes (AFC Treason, c)
5 - Hadrian Belfast (Sabrefell Athletic)
13 - Leila Corvette (Maximum City)
17 - Tosca Marlowe (AFC Treason)
19 - James Sleet (AC Tallin, VAL)
22 - Gareth Pearce (North Laithland)

6 - Michael Brandon (Directus, EUR, 3c)
8 - Catheline Harper (Maximum City)
10 - Dale Brightley (Basin Plain, UGO)
11 - Gareth Crowley (Abingdon Celtic, TLI)
14 - Chris Christon (Brinemouth)
16 - Darren Parrett (Alouette Jonquiere, SIC)
23 - Olenna Daytona (Maximum City)

7 - Gerhard Thunder (Astograth University, AST, vc)
9 - Konrad Evans (Gortz United, AST)
15 - Cheney Bittencourt (AFC Treason)
18 - Molly Keynes (North Laithland)
21 - Keith Rowland (Holdenberg City, EUR)

The old ways were best!

Original nation behind Nephara. New Sideburn now symbolises an ideal, rather than a nation.

Starters in bold:

Goal:
1. Haki Asgard - GK (36) - A solid goalkeeper, experienced and a natural leader. Co-captain behind Sobek Dehenat.
12. Eren Dauragur - GK (29) - On the squad after Ko-oren B's good run in the Market Cup. He's not very far behind Enshadilsa.
23. Storm Enshadilsa - GK (27) - Biggest talent among Ko-orenite goalkeepers. Has had a great season in the V-league.

Defensive:
2. Svarlamn Norn - LWB (28) - Energetic leftback, has good passing and is always looking for an offensive break.
3. Sobek Dehenat - CB (36) - Captain and biggest personality on the team. Calm and collected, experienced leader of the defense.
4. Lodur Nidog - RWB (30) - Slow player, but excellent in keeping strikers away from the ball.
13. Katanmak Juliasterinthen - CB (23) - Biggest defending talent. Was given the starting position to see how it works out, and has taken the challenge well in AOCAF.
14. Fuujin Iwaki - CB (28) - Reliable CB, though he hardly does anything outside of defense. Poor passing.
20. Futushi Musashi - RB (31) - Can play on either wing, slightly unreliable defender who's in the best of his years.

Midfielders:
7. Fin Fenner - RCM (32) - Central passing man on the team. Any attack is likely to start with one of his passes.
8. Susano Sanuki - LCM (30) - The most defensive of the five midfielders, sometimes acts as second central back next to the central defender.
6. Nalaikh Bagaurunir - DM (23) - Was on the U-21 squad in the Di Bradini Cup. Despite the poor results there, he was called for the team.
16. Roluswishandin Erlenajaur - DM (24) - Inexperienced and it shows, needs to play a lot more important matches before he can play in the NT.
15. Bjarswind Napertnau - CM (25) - The next Fin Fenner. Excellent passing, can even take free kicks well.
10. Palnatoki Idrasil - RWM (30) - Quick winger, unpredictable and good at crosses as well as dribbling.
5. Thor Alfar - LWM (26) - Can give good crosses, but is too slow to get in that position often. He is very strong though, and can hold the ball well.
17. Pta Talmis - AM (27) - Passing man behind the strikers. Knows exactly when to give a through pass, pass to the wings, or pass back.
18. Esolywend Eregrent - AM (23) - Attacking midfielder who is also just as good on either wing. Can even play central midfielder.
21. Holbuligen Bohanan - AM (27) - Best man of the Market Cup squads, leading them to 3 consecutive 2nd places. Can play anywhere on midfield.

Attackers:
19. Izasul Terathu - RS (28) - His speed, enthusiasm and acceleration is unrivaled in this team. His first World Cup as starting striker, he replaces the old Shiribeshi.
9. Naemasu Tokachi - ST (30) - Second striker behind Terathu. Most assists are by him, but he can score too.
11. Koyane Shiribeshi - ST (33) - Has been the first striker for years. Still has '11', as no one dares to take it from him. Lost his fine touch, but is still a very good attacker.
22. Uilta Bonangorthen - LS (26) - Called because Ko-oren is short on good strikers. Was in the Ko-oren B team, and was quite good there.

This World Cup, head coach Pet Rilasthaunden is continuing where he left off last AOCAF. Out of the four famous Ko-orenite players (Asgard, Dehenat, Fenner, Shiribeshi), only one (Fenner) still plays. Alfar, the 26-year-old winger, was left out for Eregrent as well. This means the team will play with three defenders, two central midfielders, three attacking midfielders and two strikers as always, but that now Eregrent is in for Alfar, the attacking midfield is more focused on the center of the field than ever. The team as a whole plays an intelligent, tactical game, and tries to avoid conceding goals at almost any cost. Their counters are vicious though, so don't be surprised if you suddenly find four Greenblues surrounding your goalkeeper when you least expect it. Do not expect many fouls, but the team will still try to score as much as possible whenever they get the chance, while still keeping enough players at the back to not get countered. This is why even a defensive team like the Greenblues can score 4 or more goals per game, which has happened in the past.

Scoring: Terathu-Tokachi-Fenner-Idrasil
Bookings: Norn-Sanuki-Nidog-Talmis

The Ministry of Sports is proud to present the first World Cup squad for New North Aqmuland. The Lions had a rather rough start to their international life, going 0-1-2 in the Baptism of Fire. However, we believe that we can still shock the universe here. And hopefully, we get lucky enough and have enough juice to power through.

Svenga Squad for the 66th WC

The Coach: Luke Thompson (The Licentian Islaes) Style Mod: +2

He managed Colesham Athletic previously, but is most famous for his time as co-manager of the Licentian national team, along with Nathan Gardiner-Stewart. He is known as a tactician; while Nathan motivated the team, Luke made the tough personnel decisions that a former player couldn't. Thompson has since proven himself as a solo manager with some fairly successful seasons with Colesham Athletic, and is looking to get back into international management, in the hope that, in the future, he can manage the Cyan-and-Gold solo. He had a reasonable opening campaign, but with several new players, he's ready for another crack.

Assistant Coach: Kuri Levallånen (40 years old)

He comes into the side in rather unfortunate circumstances. Former Assistant Coach Röben Eriksson, former soldier, has retired from coaching due to the injuries he sustained whilst fighting got worse. Kuri was coach of Stormskamer IGK before taking the assistant coaching role, and had taken them to a Supercup victory three years ago.

Squad

Goalkeepers

Pal Lorsen (29 caps - 0 goals - 39 y/o - FCK Lupa)

Pal has been the mainstay in the Svenga side since WC64, when regular Toms Holt broke his finger and never recovered his legendary goalkeeping skills. He is 6ft 3" and is imposing in the goal, which make him a penalty expert. He likes making saves, and has a hollywood flair about them. He is known for his big right foot, and can kick from one area to the other and watch out for him in the opposition box in the final minutes...

Vanja Albertsen (0 caps - 0 goals - 22 y/o - PPMPA Korska)

A new talent rising up through the ranks of the domestic league, Vanja stands at a staggering 6ft 10", and has the natural build for a goalkeeper. Although he might not be fully ready for the big occasion of the World Cup, he is certainly a talent to watch out for in the future. A great physical presence in the box, but sometimes he can lose his position around the goal and leave himself open to mistakes.

Jarmo Jakinen (0 caps - 0 goals - 19 y/o - FCK Lupa)

Another young talent with fantastic vision and great hands, but lacks first-team experience and the commanding skills of a keeper. Will need work before becoming a serious option.

Defenders

Tommi Nikula (7 caps - 0 goals - 24 y/o - Helsirn CSKA)

One of the several new young players in the squad, Nikula is regarded as the natural successor to Strostrand. A talented wing back as well as a dominant defender in the box and around. Possessing incredible power and extreme acceleration and having the ability to lay killer crosses, Tommi is always the one to spark a counter-attack.

Reko Saari (19 caps - 0 goals - 35 y/o - PPMPA Korska)

One of the ageing stalwarts in the squad Saari is a big man who creates a big presence in the centre of defence. Saari, despite being one of the elder players, he still has a youthful energy about him. He can also be a threat down the other end of the pitch when it comes to corners and crosses.

Georg Raske (42 caps - 2 goals - 33 y/o - GKS Erem) CAPTAIN

Georg has gone from fringe player in earlier World Cup's to team captain, rather surprisingly, in this edition of the competition. Andfossen announced this shortly before the rest of squad annoucement, much to the surprise of the press and just about every fan in the country. After Strostrand had retired, winger Rihards Ruotsalainen was made favourite to be made captain, with Raske at 250/1. Raske is a brick wall in defence, not known for his pace, but able to shut down any play from any number of attacking players.

Saar Bjørnsen (14 caps - 0 goals - 29 y/o - FCK Lupa)

Bjørnsen long has been tipped to be the new Torbjorn Lindstørm, who led the side to their Baptism of Fire victory. He is bigger than his predecessor, standing at 6ft 4" inches, he is not someone you want to run into at speed. We've seen him in two World Cups, and he hasn't quite fulfilled his huge expectations. He has played one or two blinders, but otherwise he has been average. The fans are expecting big things from this man.

Luka Jarvinen (36 caps - 3 goals - 29 y/o - GKS Erem)

He moves with incredible pace when chasing down opposition attackers, and is always in the right place to block a shot or make that last ditch tackle which he has done plenty of times in the past. Good friends with both Raske and Levallånen, they like to joke around and the occasionally don't take the game entirely seriously.

Mikkel Strand (20 caps - 1 goals - 27 y/o - PPMPA Korska)

He's spent a lot of time warming the bench, wrapped up in the numerous layers of SFA-supplied kit, but this might be his breakthrough, with some very talented performances in the domestic game. When he has played, he has shown an adept ability to use the ball from deep and create situations from defence. If he perhaps gets a bit more game time, he could develop his skills and become a real talent, perhaps playing in Defensive midfield or even Midfield.

Eemil Tähtinen (0 caps - 0 goals - 21 y/o - Helsirn CSKA)

An ex-long distance runner who chose football over athletics, Eemil's epic stamina has already been demonstrated in the Superliga. He can just keep going, hour after hour, week-in-week-out. Although his defensive skills might not earn him a regular starting place, he has the potential to become the 'super-sub' for the squad, able to fill in every game.

Midfielders

Hakan Lager (29 caps - 1 goals - 31 y/o - Stormskamer IGK)

A dynamic footballer, Hakan is powerful on both the wing and in and around the area. He has been second place to Jazēps Vang in recent times, and it looks to continue like that as Vang has put in some particularly good performances over the last few months. But nevertheless he has everything a good winger needs: pace, power and good passing ability.

Aatu Jokela (3 caps - 0 goals - 20 y/o - Stormskamer IGK)

Another product of the Stormskamer youth system, Aatu is your typical defensive midfielder, hard hitting tackler and great at spying the long balls required to beat the offside trap and release the forwards. Endless energy and stamina mean that he can cover every square inch of the pitch, make a tackle then track back, before running forward with the counter-attack.

Loreen Steffanssen (5 caps - 2 goals - 21 y/o - Rasmussen SK)

Although Women have always been accepted into the men's national side, the appearance of the two Steffansson's (Kari and Loreen, unrelated) is the first occurrence of this. A perfectly all-round footballer, she is considered to be a lot better than her male counter-parts. Height, strength, a good touch and pace are just some of her many assets which make her a great footballer. Young, still only 19, experience might be her only weakness.

Timo Laathi (20 caps - 1 goals - 24 y/o - West Skal City SK)

Former captain of the U21s, Timo is one of the few players who make the leap from U21 regular to first team regular. No one is sure why there aren't more. Timo is a good roving midfielder, who can operate both in a central role or as a winger or attacking midfielder, but can also drop back and defend like a centre back or a sweeper would. Good close control and excellent footwork make him troublemaker for opposition defences, and also has a good close range shooting ability.

Torleif Olhauser (53 caps - 8 goals - 36 y/o - Helsirn CSKA)

The face of the Svenga football team's campaign, there is massive expectation on both him and the team. Tor, as he's known, is the heart of the team, dictating everything from his perch in the centre of the pitch. He doesn't like to go forward, and will hang back during most attacking set-plays. He has eagle-like vision and is known for his perfect passing and his ability to find space and find it for other players.

Jazēps Vang (38 caps - 6 goals - 28 y/o - DGNC Helsingborg)

A versatile midfield player, he likes to experiment with the ball, and will often try outrageous tricks, just to see if they work. When on form, he is unstoppable, every trick seeming to come off and every reverse-spinning-backheel finding its target. Combine this ingenuity with proper winger's pace always make him a joy to watch for any football fan.

Rihards Ruotsalainen (43 caps - 17 goals - 37 y/o - PPMPA Korska)

Arguably Svengarda's most successful player, his skill (and a certain journalist) warranted him a place in the World XI (although one lacking several top teams), although as a substitute. He is ageing somewhat, and although he is still just as talented, his time might nearly be up. Raw pace and good footwork make him a first-choice winger for any side, and 5 goals show off his goal scoring ability from around the area. Age might just be getting to him, with his pace edging off and his natural skill diminishing a bit. This will be his last campaign.

Strikers

Truls Waaserson (55 caps - 32 goals - 33 y/o - Morata Valley (Vilita)

Svengarda's goal factory, and main source of goals for the entire Andfossen regime. A superb first and final touch make Truls deadly as soon as he picks up the ball in the area. He works a lot off his team, taking crosses from the wingers and through-balls from midfielders, and works well by himself or with fellow strikers. In this case, he will be working in front of Svein Danielsen/Kari Steffansson as the sole striker.

Svein Danielsen (40 caps - 17 goals - 29 y/o - Ferdullaele FC (Farfadillis)

A striker on the same par as Truls Waaserson when it comes to goal scoring ability, but Svein has had to live most of his footballing life in the attacking-midfield role, and that's where he'll play for this WC. Good speed and strength make him ideal for this role, as well as the skill of placing a pass, which is key for playing a single striker. Making a name for himself overseas in Farfadillis, scoring more goals of Ferdullaele FC than the legendary Val Kylx.

Serko Jansen (11 caps - 4 goals - 24 y/o - FCK Lupa)

Serko has gained his place on the merit of his domestic performances for FCK Lupa. His appearance in the side is much to the distaste of the player he replaced; Boghos Danielsen. Serko doesn't expect much play, but when he does, he adds an element of the sublime to his play, and has a habit for scoring some quite brilliant goals, from 25-yard screamers to deft chips.

Kari Steffansson (3 caps - 1 goals - 21 y/o - DGNC Helsingborg)

(The base of my RPs)

The second of the Steffansson's (again, not related) in the squad, Kari is a small and nimble winger/attacking midfielder, using her surging pace and lightning quick feet to create trouble for any defence. Her ability to get into small spaces in the box always makes her a nuisance to opposition.

Albaie Imperial National Team

Albaie enter their third tournament with one ambition. Qualification. The Emperor had promised the nation they would be playing in at least the Cup of Harmony after the group stages but the passionate fans of Albaie yearned to enter the world cup proper. Despite all of this the football community was still in a state of shock. Count Vincent Deberen was still in a coma following his crash returning from a game during the Campionato Esportiva. Sir Mark Deberen has taken control of the team with Edward " Lucky " Mercer as his assistant until the fate of Count Vincent is apparent. The team is pretty much the same following the Campionato with one change the inclusion of Simon Luten in place of Robert Smith.

Staff
Count Vincent Deberen The Elder LCOTIO KOTB -Manager. Deberen Albaie's only manager in the recent Multiverse Era has lead our team to great heights during the Campionato Esportiva but the recent qualification campaign has besmirched his record. Hopefully Deberen can rebuild the team and lead it back to its former glory. Deberen also managers Dubrack's Town Celtic the Imperial Bank Premier League powerhouse who also have started making waves on the continental scene. Deberen is also a former player who holds all goalscoring records in the country and is Albaie's most capped ever player with 178 caps and with 167 goals shows what a star he was. Not to be confused with Vincent Deberen The Younger who is his 16 year old son who happens to play for both Dubrack's Town Celtic and the Albaie National Team. Even though he keeps his place as manager he is still incapacitated following a car crash.

Sir Mark Deberen - Caretaker Manager. Mark another member of the Deberen sporting dynasty who as son of Vincent Deberen The Elder was widely touted as his successor and at the young age of 15 was playing in a Under 19's match for his fathers club Dubrack's Town Celtic against local rivals Albaie Rangers to prepare for his starting debut when a vicious challenge broke his leg in two places and the young lad announced his retirement but a week later was announced as Head of Youth Team Liaisons at Dubrack's Town Celtic where he took lessons from his father and started doing his coaching badges and by the age of 20 he was Head of First Team Coaching under his father and alongside Sir Arthur Sportern was his father's closest ally. Mark then left the club at 24 to manage the struggling Maras Wolfs and in his first season won the Emperor's Shield and the Imperial Bet Championship and so secured promotion to the Imperial Bank Premier League. In the team's first season in the top flight Mark completed the unthinkable not only winning the Albaie Cup but the Imperial Bank Premier League itself a feat unrivalled in Albaie footballing history. Then at the end of the season he announced his resignation and returned to fill the space left by Arthur Sportern as he became Head of the AFA and made a duke. Mark then at the beginning of last season filled the gap left by Stephen MacMillan at international level who left to head the Imperial Commission for Improvement In Football under Duke Arthur Sportern at the AFA being made a Count in the process. Has taken over his father's managerial position in his absence.

Sir Edward " Lucky " Mercer DC AS SRC - Goalkeeping Coach / Caretaker Assistant Manager - " Lucky " is a former youth player for Dubrack's Town Celtic and Albaie but he suffered a serious injury his career was over. He then saw service in the 77th Dubrack's Town Light Infantry during the Second Advar Revolution when he sided with the Crown Prince during the Battle Of Advaria and then served by his side during the conflict and was well decorated with a Dubrack Cross and an Albert Star as well as a Saint Ruk Cross for his good service as well as being made a Knight of Saint Arthyr for saving the Crown Prince's life on three occasions. " Lucky " then joined the Imperial Guard but saw a stagnation in his career as he was posted to service with unimportant members of the Imperial Family and then finally service as a guard at the AFA which is where Count Vincent Deberen recruited him as a coach and he quickly rose through the ranks at Dubrack's Town Celtic and Albaie and became a key man in the Campionato Esportiva.

Dutciberg Information

Geography

A small, landlocked region located in the Atlas region, the United States of Dutciberg is a beautiful country, renown for its stunning cliffs and countryside. The region has some of the best weather during spring and summer months, but fog and rain is common as well.

History

Although the people have enjoyed a free and open democracy for over 120 years, at a time the entire region was ruled by a Duke or Duchess. There were several failed rebellions until the Grand Duchy fell in 1897. After the fall of the last Duke, Peter Garfield, a renown politician, was elected the first president of the United States of Dutciberg. The country has been ruled by a presidency since then. The culture is european, with devotion to family, then country being an important ideal.

Sports

The United States of Dutciberg has always been an athletic culture, dating back to times of old, where the people living on the land played a game much like football in which the winner would be crowned a high position within the duchy. Now, the sport of football is extremely popular, with members of all ages in clubs nation-wide. The cold regions of Swizze are especially devoted to the sport. The stadiums are packed on Friday nights, to see players compete in the game.

Dutciberg Football

Founding

On a cold December 15 in 1923, sports lovers from across the nation gathered in Colongue, Dutciberg, to celebrate the founding of the D.A.P.O.P or the Dutciberg Association for the Preservation of our Pastimes. Earlier that day, the speakers within the Goldé House discussed creating a national team in both Football and Rugby. They voted on the document, and it passed by 103 votes to 45. Later in the year, the name was changed to D.F.A or Dutciberg Football Association.

Present-Day

The sport has changed slightly since founding, and has been gaining popularity in the years on television and radio. The most famous clubs, The Colongue Silver and the Havravad Imperials, have accumulated a large rivalry between each other, and neither side seems to want to give in.

National Team

With several wars plaguing their International appeal, A Dutciberg national team was not created until 2013, when the D.F.A signed onto the 54th Baptism of Fire and the 67th World Cup. The national team was chosen from the best players from the clubs, including Colongue GK Mario Crussè and Sicil City CAM Shaun Hopkins. The team gained third place

Dutciberg Team

Roster

The National team was received with great satisfaction among fans, with several famous players and (fairly) new faces alike.

Notable Players

While some players were almost sure to be picked, some chosen were surprising. Below is a list of players that shouldn't be written off.

Mario Crussé: GK, Colongue Silver

Mario Crussé has been Dutciberg's most loved player since the start of the century. Within good reason as well, with a save percentage of 82.37%. Playing for the Colongue Silver since 2003, Mario helped the already successful club rose to the top of the club rankings. When he joined the National Team for the BOF, he played at the top of his class, setting an already high standard higher. He received the ideal eleven award in the tournament, and led the team to the third place.

Travis Douglas: CDM, Havravad Imperials

The young man from the small town of Güütenbelgi became a national favorite later in his career than his college friend, Mario Crussè. In his first 5 years with the Sicil City Gondoliers, he enjoyed a small bit of success, receiving offers from both Trateenvoius and Detchin FC. He declined both, and continued playing with Sicil. It payed off in 2006, when Havravad picked him up in their roster. He grew to become of their best players in the following year. He didn't prove to be an outstanding force in the BOF, as the nation thought he would, so he might be replaced in the early rounds if he isn't "up to standard."

Ryan Sanders: RM, Colongue Silver

When Detchin FC dropped Ryan as a CB in 2002, he took up a smaller club's offer for a RM. He fell in love with the position, and played with the team until 2010, when he was traded to the Colongue Silver. Showing promising results over the last two years, it looks like Colongue might consider him as a major force in the coming years. In the BOF, he showed lack of skill. While he kept the ball in the center, he didn't do much more on the offensive.

Wayne Goodman: LB, Sicil City

A deadly force on the defense, Wayne is a necessity for the national team. While an older player, he hasn't lost any of his skill. As a Sicilian newspaper wrote: "An amazing spectacle everyday on the field, a blur of legs and tackles, always a brilliant player for our city!" He proved this to be true in the BOF, scoring a good amount of goals for the National Team.

Glen Jennings: ST, Colongue Silver

Glen was written off as a good, but not great, player before the BOF. He proved the critics wrong, and rose to a higher standard than the other offensive players, scoring most of Dutciberg's goals in the tournament. He became a close friend of Mario Crussé, the two working together on strategies on the offensive late into the night. The manager, Brendon Tiede, said "I expect another great player out of Glen, and I hope we see the same Glen we saw in Farfadillis."

Licentian National Football Team

Cyan and Gold Forever

The Licentian Isles are back at the World Cup. Sort of. The new Grand Duke has declared that he won’t be allowing foreigners into the Licentian Isles during this World Cup campaign, so a squad will be representing the Licentian Isles based out of the independent nation of Hessington Island during this World Cup.

Head Coach - Joachim Schwartz (Polar Islandstates)
Joachim Schwartz is one of the many foreigners who was barred from entry to the Licentian Isles when the new Grand Duke implemented his “Isles for the Islanders” initiative, which stopped almost all foreigners from entering the Licentian Isles. While he and his backroom staff considered quitting, his team convinced him to stay and take a stand against the royal family, albeit from the safe haven of Hessington Island.

Goalkeepers:

1 - Shay Jamieson - 25 years - Carrington United
12 - Russell Miller - 24 years - Treason (NSB)
13 - Nathan Hunter - 23 years - Abingdon Celtic

Shay Jamieson has become a leading light for the Licentian Isles over the last few years. Despite only joining the senior team when Cam Ritchie retired, he has lead the team from the back, and has become one of the main members of the team for the Isles. Russ Miller and Nathan Hunter have become important parts of the team, but it’s unlikely that they’ll take Jamieson’s place any time soon.

Full Backs:

2 – Toby Bishop – 31 years – Carrington United
3 - Ajay Walker - 25 years - Montfort Wanderers
14 - Donald McLauchlan - 23 years - Matthew City Rangers (NSI)

Toby Bishop is one of only two remaining members of the original Licentian national team, along with Nate Parkinson. On the opposite side, Ajay Walker is possibly the weak link of the team; he has his moments of brilliance, but he is often caught off guard in the back four, and has been to blame for quite a few goals that the Cyan-and-Gold have conceded since he joined the team. It is likely that Donald McLauchlan will get a couple of games over the qualification campaign.

Centre Backs:

4 – Sam Hill – 27 years - Surtsey Island Gulls (PIS)
5 – Dennis Munro – 26 years - Gaelic Club
15 - Arron Stewart - 24 years - Sabrefell Athletic (NSB)
16 - Grant Ferguson - 26 years - SC Montfort

Hill and Munro at centre half are usually able to make up for the mistakes made by Ajay Walker at left back. As typical Licentian centre halves, they are normally able to get rid of any cross that’s swung in their direction, so they can avoid conceding too many goals based on Walker’s cock-ups. Unless one of the main pair gets injured, Stewart and Ferguson aren’t likely to get much time on the pitch.

Holding Midfielders:

8 – Nate Parkinson – 33 years - Astograth University (ASG)
17 – Grant Torin - 26 years - Munnerput TU (EAR)

With Nate Parkinson now in Astograth, one of the biggest leagues in the multiverse, one of the biggest stars in the Licentian national team is still playing abroad after a move away from recently relegated Farnworth a few years ago. Grant Torin, his back-up, is currently in Earent, and is hoping to break into the national team upon Parkinson’s retirement, which is expected to come after this World Cup; he’ll be 35 going into the next World Cup.

Centre Midfielders:

6 – Ruaraidh Donaldson – 33 years - Abingdon Celtic - C
10 – Josh Brown - 27 years - Abingdon Celtic
18 - Joey Thompson - 23 years - Egloskerry (APX)
19 – Magnus Graham - 25 years - Dartmouth City (GMU)

With the all-Celtic pairing of Ruaraidh Donaldson and Josh Brown in the centre of midfield, there is a lot of teamwork going on, and the pair are a good unit; Donaldson goes forward often, and Brown holds the line, making tough tackles when he needs to. Magnus Graham is a tough tackler who will normally make appearances against teams with a similar reputation to him, while Joey Thompson comes on late on in games simply as a fresh pair of legs.

Wingers:

7 – James Watt - 23 years - Brinemouth (NSB)
11 – Aran Miller – 20 years - FC Ararat Severyan (MYT)
20 - Jack Macdonald - 22 years - AFC Farnworth
21 - Tom Dickson - 24 years - Montfort University

Aran Miller is still a star for the Licentian Isles, and someone who can make a difference to any game that he takes part in. Watt is a good winger, but is very underrated compared to Aran Miller. After the retirement of Jared Anderson, Jack Macdonald is the next in line to take a place in the national team, and Tom Dickson, the University winger, has been called up for the first time, cementing the Scholars’ place as a respected club on the Isles.

Centre Forwards:

9 - Alexander Keir - 33 years - FC Endeavour (APX)
22 - Danny Leighton - 24 years - Houghton Rangers
23 - Ruben Munro - 18 years - Metropolis Alligators (VLD)

Alex Keir holds his place in the starting line-up, though it is rumoured that he is considering retiring from international football, and concentrating on his blossoming career in Apox. Danny Leighton, a diamond in the rough at Houghton Rangers, has been called up in place of Fraser Docherty, who refused to play for a team supported by the new regime, and young starlet Ruben Munro, who has impressed in Valladares, will be travelling with the Isles.

Formation – The Pythagorean v2/The Hourglass:
A variant on the Pythagorean system used by Schwartz in the Polar Islandstates, the only real difference is that the Cyan-and-Gold system involves two triangles linked together by the holding midfielders, which looks sort of like an hourglass on paper (hence, the name).

Home Stadium:
The Raceground, Hessington Island
Capacity: 38,500 capacity, 35,000 seated

A ground at first built for the Sixteenth World Lacrosse Championships, and Hessington LC and CC Hessington, the local LFL side, moved into the stadium recently. The ground played host to an independent Hessington Island’s games at the Campionato, and after the “Isles for the Islanders” initiative introduced by the new Grand Duke, Joachim Schwartz set up shop in this ground. It isn’t ideal, as it is built for lacrosse, but it will have to do for now.

Style: -2

Manager: Bridget Scroves (first tournament: WC64)

Goalkeepers:
1. Bruce Millar (Excelsior Slogda) (m) (first tournament: WC64) Pretty outgoing and laid-back by goalkeeper standards.
12. Nirav Gadhavi (Namiri Independent) (m) (first tournament: WC67)
23. Dominik Topi (Trebuchet Cham) (m) (first tournament: WC66)

Defenders:
2. Dima Novak (Athletik Thessia) (m) (1 goal) (first tournament: WC64) Tallest starter.
3. Jerzy McFetridge (Abingdon Celtic) (m) (2 goals) (first tournament: WC64) Fast going forward, also can be quick to sort of come to terms with weird stuff going on and adjust to that.
4. Angela Rose-Dauphine (Spenson Suburbia) (f) (first tournament: WC65)
5. Vipin Lamin (Namiri Forest) (m) (first tournament: WC64) Kind of wry, likes pithy lists.
15. Kazue Harel (Eintracht Trink) (f) (first tournament: WC67)
19. Luanne Delvale (Arlington City) (f) (first tournament: WC64) Drawing comparisons to our first captain from the old team (because of being a Lutheran dork worked up about weird multiverse theories, not for being good at defense).
21. Franklin Witchein-Coan (Spenson Suburbia) (m) (first tournament: WC67)
22. Sara Hale-Barnard (Canbix Muses) (f) (first tournament: WC64) Draws professional fouls.

Midfielders:
6. Patricia Eliot (Matthew City Rangers) (f) (2 goals) (first tournament: WC64) Draws...unprofessional fouls.
7. Joan Gerland (Matthew City Senators) (f) (7 goals) (first tournament: WC64)
8. Davi Keane-Liuprand (Ephesian FC) (m) (2 goals) (first tournament: WC64)
10. Martina Ruan (FTC United) (f) (8 goals) (first tournament: WC64) The team's new captain. Relatively proud of Zwangzug's quirks, wants to show them off and not be just another country.
11. Shula Bachchan-Laum (Namiri Independent) (f) (2 goals) (first tournament: WC64) Argumentative, although not so much with the ref, just likes to get the last word.
13. Maya Coelho (Rovers United) (f) (first tournament: WC67)
14. Tullio Schi (Bengtsmark IF) (m) (2 goals) (first tournament: CoH 57)
16. Dennis Horkawer-Rippel (Keppal Cosmos) (m) (first tournament: WC67)
17. Rudolf Sternberg (Ephesian FC) (m) (1 goal) (first tournament: WC65) Hails from Clunvers, the suburb with the "Big Max" meteorite fiasco, and glad to be making his name for something else.
18. Vera Woredann (Excelsior Slogda) (f) (first tournament: WC66)

Forwards:
9. Khamisi McCluey (Royal Rumiatzi) (m) (6 goals) (first tournament: CoH 57)
20. Arlo Rais-Sonnen (FTC United) (m) (4 goals) (first tournament: WC66)
The normal starters are 1-11, though this will likely change. The most likely starting formation would be:

..................__________..................
......................|Millar|...................
McFetridge..Rose-Dauphine..Novak..Lamin
.................Eliot..Bachchan-Laum........
...................Keane-Liuprand..............
.................Ruan......Gerland.............
......................McCluey ...................

The reserve defenders would tend to line up (right to left as they see it, or left to right in this diagram) as Witchein-Coan, Jamieson, Harel, Hale-Barnard if they're all playing at once. The midfielders would have Woredann and Sternberg in defensive midfield, Coelho in the center, and Schi and Horkawer-Rippel as attacking midfielders. Expect plenty of variation, particularly up front--we wouldn't want to risk inflating the lone striker's goal tallies, such as they are. Zwangzug play a defensive style, as noted, and they're particularly unskilled on headers. Some players might chance a professional foul, but they're really not a violent team.

More than you ever wanted to know about Zwangzug can be found in our factbook, a pastiche of in-jokes, allusions, moments of pride, retconned "what was I thinking?!" moments, and much more from the last, er, seven years. Unless you wanted to know things like "why are there so many -ed names" (egalitarian parents, not being posh) or "what about the Mc" (it's a common morpheme among our Bigtopian community, who knows why). Well, if you have more questions, you can ask.

In particular, a summary of the original national team's history (fl. WC33-42) is available. I should really get to wikifying making factbooks of? biographical pages for some of the more colorful bygone players. Poke me about that.

Colors: White with black stripes. Or black with white stripes. We go for the basics.

Home schedule: Wayr Stadium, located in the Rackham Range of mountains, remains our basic home field, but several other stadiums will get to host the national team this campaign.

MD3 vs. Star United States: Wayr Stadium
MD5 vs. Jedi8246: Groth Park, Canbix
MD7 vs. Svengarda Janaki Gardens, Guariday
MD9 vs. New North Aqmuland: Eglantine Park, FTC
MD10 vs. Crystal Empire: Doymals Stadium, Craton
MD13 vs. Alba-Caledonia: Pallocci Pagoda Park, FTC
MD15 vs. Ko-oren: Wayr Stadium
MD17 vs. Levivania: ZS^3, Zwischen

Playoff second leg vs. Kiryu-shi: Wayr Stadium

If RPing first, please feel free to name goalscorers, injure, and distribute cards to my players at will! You can also godmod events, though I'd appreciate advance warning if you want to take narrative liberties that I couldn't just as easily do to your team (due to being, e.g., an MT, all-human country). Put another way, metaphorical "godmodding" is welcome if clever, but I'd avoid the literal sense.

If you'd like to collaborate on a storyline, drop me a telegram! Always up for new ideas.

BRENECIA
Preferred Formation:
4-4-2
Style Modifier: -0.5
Playstyle: Similar to New Sideburn in the physical element - playing quick and direct and low on possession. Strong spine, good on the counter.
Home Stadium: Union Park in Pavonia. A 70,500-capacity all-seater, home to Northern Union. Kingsgarden, the traditional national team/cup final stadium, is being refurbished due to being absolutely decrepit (ready c. WC68).
Kit Supplier: Kirola
Nickname: the Patriots, Arrogance

Jon Slatesaver reached miracles with AFC Treason - back to back championships, the first a double, the first Sideburnese team to make it to a UICA group stage, then to the last 16 of the Champion's Cup the following year. And, in his first foray with his homeland, he achieved miracles there as well - the Patriots actually passed a group stage. Not only that, but they made it to the quarter finals of the Campionato Esportiva, a remarkable achievement. Ranked 99th in the world, Brenecia will be hoping to solidify their position, and while qualification is very unlikely they can certainly begin to dream of distant possibilities.

Overall Record
21 wins - 10 draws - 25 losses
89 scored - 100 conceded

First Team

Most RPs will contain the lineup for the next game, but this is the strongest lineup the Patriots can field.

ALSO
I'd appreciate it if people laid off on mentioning sexual assault in posts involving me. Nothing personally serious, but I find it jarring in threads otherwise consisting of goofy football shit.

Jon SLATESAVER - 57
Manager

Slatesaver isn't one for big speeches, but he marries remarkable tactical nous with an instinct for man-management. His authority in the dressing-room is unmistakable and untouchable, and after the heavily-criticised reign of Blake Lawless and Clint Hemingway's run marred by factional infighting (and poor results), Slatesaver brings some dearly-needed stability to the national team.

Vance STERLING - 38
Assistant Manager

Sterling has never been one for the spotlight; he's been supporting staff for fifteen years, a full-fledged assistant for eight, as what doctors described as a 'totally fucked' hamstring ended his career at nineteen years old. A Hemingway supporter, but when he fell, took it upon himself to manage the team - a win against Barunia made it an easy decision for Slatesaver to keep him on as assistant.
1 - Franca CONNELL - 31 (3c) - Sabrefell Moths (NSB)
9 caps, 4 clean sheets

A good all-round shotstopper, it's hard to point to any weaknesses in Connell's play. She's played for a variety of clubs and countries, mostly in the top levels. Recently secured a move to Sabrefell, as the Moths have had issues with goalkeepers since Stubbs' retirement.
Connell immediately bypassed the Carrick/Mansfield conundrum by being far superior to either, keeping four clean sheets from nine games in the Campionato Esportiva. Despite Pence's recent form for club, Slatesaver has stuck to his guns and Connell retains the number 1 jersey.

16 - Stephen MANSFIELD - 34 - Suttonville (EUR)
23 caps, 7 clean sheets

Mansfield retains his place in the team, and his reputation as a stalwart brings him some degree of popularity with the fans. But at the end of the day, Steve Mansfield is happy to be with the squad at all, and will leap at the chance to play if needed.

23 - Jayce PENCE - 23 - North Laithland (NSB)
Uncapped

Pence has always shown sparks of talent, but it's only this season they've come to fruition. Nevertheless, her great form in goal is proof enough of her talent, and some have been calling for her to take up the leading role as goalkeeper. Her best asset is her reflexes, but she is a balanced goalkeeper in all respects.
2 - Samantha ALLBECK (vc) - 27 - AFC Treason (NSB)
Right-back
56 caps, 1 goal

The strongest player on the squad by a significant margin, Allbeck's work with Jon Slatesaver in the past has lead to much success at AFC Treason. Her tenacity and awareness in defence means she doesn't compromise the wing when going forward in attack, where her speed, ball control and ability with crosses are a significant asset.

3 - Magda CHARTREUSE - 26 - North Laithland (NSB)
Left-back
22 caps, 0 goals

Young, promising, very short, with a shock of strawberry blonde hair and a swarm of freckles, you'll know Chartreuse when you see her. But she's very good on the wings, with an enviable expertise of short passing, and you can rely on her tracking back when needed; her positioning's impeccable.
Chartreuse's form with North Laithland promises a similar output for the national side, and she'll be looking for results to secure her place in the starting eleven.

4 - Mark GRAVES - 25 - Maximum Rovers (NSB)
Centre-back
Uncapped

Coming off a good couple of seasons with the Rovers, Graves has proven himself to be a solid defender. He's small for a centreback, at just 5'9", but he makes up for this with agility and with the accuracy of his trademark sliding challenges.

5 - Gareth MORTLOCK - 28 - Ridgeway United
Centre-back
22 caps, 1 goal

A centre-back of the 'immovable object' archetype, though he has an eye for goal during set pieces. His lack of pace or skill on the ball is offset by his positioning, and he's good at managing fair challenges.

12 - Clara DRUMMOND - 26 - South Laithland (NSB)
Centre-back
21 caps, 0 goals

Drummond was a colossus at the back for the Southrons in their greatest-ever season, helping them to come fifth with her tenacity and bravery. A more than solid centre-back. While form has not been perfect for her,

17 - Shay BLACKWOOD - 28 - Crisisbless (NSB)
Right-back
6 caps, 0 goals

A tall, dark, handsome wingback, Blackwood was certainly not an attempt to replace like-with-like. The outgoing Anna Shrike was quick and ruthless in attack, while the more laid-back Blackwood is a rock against wingers and prefers to advance slowly and cautiously. Either way, he's more than ready for the squad; his only problem is having Allbeck to compete with.

18 - Henrick VANDERTON - 27 - Northern Union
Centre-back
Uncapped

Formerly an anchor at the back for the otherwise shaky Southside Wanderers, Vanderton's first season for Northern Union saw him as one of the standout players, earning him a callup to the national team. Has an eye for

22 - Jack DANE - 27 - Ridgeway United
Left-back
8 caps, 0 goals

A well-rounded player, Dane was part of the A-League winning Ridgeway United. He'll act in whatever capacity is required, and though his preferred position is left-back, he's played as a centre-back, right midfield and even holding midfield before.
6 - Fiona SYLVER (c) - 31 - Violence Chariots (NSB)
Defensive Midfielder
37 caps, 1 goal

Sylver may be small and wiry, but as a playmaker there's no substitute. She tends to stick to her position; this is a team that will likely build its centre around her rhythm, she can afford to sit back and pull the strings. Under Slatesaver, Sylver retains the captaincy - she thrived in a partnership with Althea Chenoweth, and will likely continue to do so in the new formation.
Sylver was the heart of the team in the Campionato Esportiva, and will likely prove indispensable here. However, as she grows older, the focus must surely turn to whether there's an adequate replacement...

7 - James MACBETH - 29 - Sabrefell Moths (NSB)
Right Midfielder
54 caps, 13 goals

Two-footed, remarkably athletic, and an attractive all-Brenecian pin-up boy for the lasses. Macbeth exemplifies all that is virtuous about the Brenecian sports system, though he admittedly sullies that reputation somewhat by playing for the Sabrefell Moths. Still, it's a high-profile contract, and he's undoubtedly a star for the team.
Macbeth's old, and has strong competition for a starting place.

8 - Althea CHENOWETH - 28 - Western Orcas (BAR)
Defensive Midfielder
15 caps, 0 goals

Chenoweth's the anchor that keeps an otherwise very aggressive Kingsgrove side in check, and Hemingway hopes she'll bring the same restraint to the Patriots. Less of a playmaker than Sylver, but she's a relentless harrier and vicious man-marker. Her twitter account is, in fact, @thatharpy, after a frustrated striker referred to her as such in a post-match interview.
After Chenoweth's contract with Kingsgrove lapsed, a prestigious move to Barunia's Western Orcas can only be positive for her career.

11 - Miriam SPITFIRE - 26 - FC Brimstone (APX)
Left Midfielder
48 caps, 10 goals

It's telling that one of Brenecia's finest talents has been relegated from the top flight, twice. Though at least she's well-travelled, having gone down with the ship in both Brenecia and in Apox. Still skilled, young and with powerful feet and great control... but Rook Asquith is firmly suspected to take her place.
Spitfire's determined to retake her place in the starting eleven, and she proved her worth with some strong performances in the Campionato.

13 - Rook ASQUITH - 26 - Sabrefell Moths (NSB)
Left Midfielder
6 caps, 2 goals

A tall, solid and tough winger, recently signed onto the Moths. Asquith is strongest in positions where he can shoot as well as cross, but his ability to outwit and beat defenders is probably his strongest attribute.

15 - Erin CAMDEN - 22 - Parrhesia United (NSB)
Central Midfielder
Uncapped

Half-Sideburnese, Camden was selected for their U-21s and acted as their set piece specialist in DBC29 - however, she was realistic about her chances of making it to the first-team, and came gladly when the home of her mother came calling.

19 - Steed RAYNOR - 25 - Vermillion Rage (NSB)
Right Midfielder
Uncapped

Raynor's a tenacious player with a real eye for goal, netting ten for the Corvette Maulers even as they went down. Signed onto newly-promoted Vermillion, his strong performances so far have endeared him to Slatesaver, and the midfielder may even start.

21 - Kurtis ASTON - 29 - South Rathia
Central Midfielder
15 caps, 3 goals

While nobody's entirely certain why South Rathia suddenly became such a sudden success, much of the credit must go to Kurtis Aston, who excels at short passes that can slice a defence clean in half. He rather fancies himself with those long shots, too, and relishes chances to catch keepers off-guard.
While Aston's playing style in midfield doesn't lend itself to Slatesaver's pressing approach, he remains the only option with playmaking skills even close to Sylver's.
9 - Brad KUEPPER - 28 - Altomare (FEL)
Striker
40 caps, 24 goals

Kuepper arrived in the national team as the emergency replacement for the injured Edmund Pike. His form in the dark blue shirt has launched his career, performing strongly at Sabrefell Moths for a season before moving onto Felix. His strengths are athleticism, ball control, pace and finishing - in other words, the complete centre-forward, though not outstanding in any one category.

10 - Gareth FARRELL - 29 - Crisisbless (NSB)
Striker
13 caps, 5 goals

An energetic centre-forward, Farrell's rugged good looks and classical heroic build point to a strong, physical, athletic playstyle that allows him to muscle through defenders like they weren't even there. He's at his best with the ball at his feet.
Farrell's not had the best of fortunes for Brenecia, but partially this has just been being overshadowed by his partner in attack. He's still the most likely starter, though his place isn't assured.

14 - Tanith BRYSON - 22 - South Rathia
Striker
Uncapped

A revelation for South Rathia, who tore up the B-League on loan before revealing she had what it took at this level, too - 20 goals for the Greenbacks in her second season in the starting lineup. Pace is her strongest asset, and she's by far the youngest of the Brenecian centre-forwards

20 - Michael CHAUCER - 32 - Northern Union
Striker
1 cap, 0 goals

Strong and tough, Chaucer is well-rounded as a player as far as technique goes, but his peerless athleticism and remarkable pace make him valuable for club as a day-in day-out starter, and will serve him well for the Patriots in his likely role as an impact substitute.

1 - Franca Connell (Sabrefell Moths, NSB, 3c)
16 - Stephen Mansfield (Suttonville, EUR)
23 - Jayce Pence (North Laithland, NSB)

2 - Samantha Allbeck (AFC Treason, NSB, vc)
3 - Magda Chartreuse (North Laithland, NSB)
4 - Mark Graves (Maximum Rovers, NSB)
5 - Gareth Mortlock (Ridgeway United)
12 - Clara Drummond (South Laithland, NSB)
17 - Shay Blackwood (Crisisbless, NSB)
18 - Henrick Vanderton (Northern Union)
22 - Jack Dane (Ridgeway United)

6 - Fiona Sylver (Violence Chariots, NSB, c)
7 - James Macbeth (Sabrefell Moths, NSB)
8 - Althea Chenoweth (Western Orcas, BAR)
11 - Miriam Spitfire (FC Brimstone, APX)
13 - Rook Asquith (Sabrefell Moths, NSB)
15 - Erin Camden (Parrhesia United, NSB)
19 - Steed Raynor (Vermillion Rage, NSB)
