NS Iced Runnings (Sign-Ups; Bobsled)

Mattijana

Mattijana is a huge, safe nation currently situated in the New Socialist Bloc. It's size means that although some parts of the country have a warm, Mediterranean style, the North of the country is much colder. Despite this the majority of Mattijanan Winter Sports are done in the beautiful central mountains where the majority of resorts are around 2000m above sea level. Natural snow is guaranteed in these areas from around late September until May. Whilst artificial snow is used to top up levels towards the end of the season.
Image
Mattijanans are big fans of domestic winter sport, although due to the general Mattijanan climate, summer sports are the most widely performed internationally. But with a good fanbase, there is easily potential for a Mattijanan stand on the world stage.

The principal sports resort is situated in Ježarnico, however this is mainly a tourist base with fewer difficult areas for athletes. Therefore, were Mattijana to be accepted as the host, the Tournament would take place at the Hollesbirjke, the most testing winter sports resort and occasional training base for many athletes. It has two principal tracks, one suited for bobsleigh and one for skeleton with extensions for luge on both tracks.

Name: Slonske-Lidenburg sliding centre.
Turns: 15
Distance: 1.3 km
The Slonske-Lidenburg or SLSC was the first sliding centre built at the Hollesbirjke running from around a third of the main ski slope down to the village of Skopjana. It features some more generic near-180 degree turns before a kink leads into the most demanding section of the track. Starting with a kink left, the ice leads into a steeply banked double pressured right hander. There is then little time for respite with a sharp left leading steeply downhill, through the smooth, but tricky Leisna chicane and then through the final few sweeping curves and back uphill 90° towards the finish line. The Slonske-Lidenburg would see the skeleton competition for both men and women.
To conserve the tradition of the centre, stands are smaller and old-fashioned, but still numerous and a recent refurbishment has seen a screen added at the bottom of the hill which can be watched be spectators on the hill outside.
Image
Name:The Mattijana sliding centre
Turns: 13
Distance: 1.1km

The Mattijana sliding centre is a modern facility situated on the opposite side of the valley to the SLSC, but also winds down to the village of Skopjana. The facility is more suited to bobsleigh and luge with more sweeping corners placed in over shorter and sharper turns. The first obstacle faced by sliders is a kink which must be taken well to set up for the second turn- a long 90° left. This leads into a few sweeping turns which test both the balance of bobsleigh and crew. A shorter and steeper downhill section is then converted into speed through another long 90° section. A slightly sharper turn goes back down, through the Petrov chicane and into the finish area.

There are modern stands on the inside of the track where possible and also at the start and finish areas. There is also a large square where onlookers can watch on a screen.
Image
Format:

Skeleton: all sliders race in the first 2 runs. Only the top 10/15 (depending on the amount of signups) qualify for the final 2 rounds. The initial running order is a draw, slowest goes first in the second round moving up to the fastest in round one going last. This is then repeated for the final two rounds so the provisional leader completes the final run. Mattijana, a nation with a lot of gender equality, would ideally have a men and women's competition.

Luge:
all sliders race in the first 2 runs. Only the top 10/15 (depending on the amount of signups) qualify for the final 2 rounds. The initial running order is a draw, slowest goes first in the second round moving up to the fastest in round one going last. This is then repeated for the final two rounds so the provisional leader completes the final run. A men's, women's, doubles and relay race is planned.

Bobsleigh:

all crews race in the first 2 runs. Only the top 10/15 (depending on the amount of signups) qualify for the final 2 rounds. The initial running order is a draw, slowest goes first in the second round moving up to the fastest in round one going last. This is then repeated for the final two rounds so the provisional leader completes the final run. Men's and women's competitions in two and four person bobs are planned.

I will leave it at the discretion of the host, whoever that may be, to decide whether they let you keep that second skeletoner and luger or not. I, personally, would prefer one of each only, but I will let the host decide how they feel about it. Also, I was planning to do this like tennis, with no distinction between male and female, but again, host's discretion.
A final note, you erased the box tag at the end of your post. I have edited it simply for the sake of the sign-ups.

Thanks, this is a provisional lineup, so there's room to change if required. My host bid also has a few bits of work to do, but my wifi is notoriously dreadful and I don't want to end up losing anything.

Two questions for Mattijana on the bid.

1. What scorinator are you planning on using?
2. What experience in hosting do you have?

Also, I'd like to add the following to luge and skeleton if the eventual host will allow a second:
Skeleton
Geneviève Renaud

Luge
Axel Kassmeyer

I have Xkorinate installed on my laptop and have tested it on a few different events such as cycling and a trial run for a field hockey tournament which will hopefully take place after this year's cup of harmony. This would be my first hosting of a bobsleigh tournament and in hosting a larger tournament(More than 5-6 nations).

I should probably add that to my bid, I'll make sure it is sorted out tomorrow :)

Kaboomlandian Host Bid for NS Iced Runnings

Kaboomlandia is a massive, militarized nation currently located in Europeia. Since the country is mostly mountainous, winter sports are hugely popular here, with ice hockey leading the way. Sliding sports are popular in Kaboomlandia, and the nation's sliding program runs on funding from the Kaboomlandian Sport Federation.

Host Venues:

This event was originally slated to be bid on to have Kolra host the event, but political instability caused the bid host city to be relocated to Valtiny, a tourist town up in the Kaboomlandian Alps. The Valtiny Sliding Centre is the main training centre for Kaboomlandian sliders, though Kolra is home to a smaller track. The Valtiny track is notable for being extremely tricky and fast.
Name: Valtiny Sliding Centre
Turns: 16
Distance: 1.29 km
Potential speeds reachable: Up to around 135 km/h on the mens' start
Image

Planned Structure:
All the sliders will compete in heats. Based on current signup trends:
  • Two-man bob: All compete in heats. Top 16 aggregate times over four runs compete in the finals.
  • Four-man bob: All compete in heats. Top 16 aggregate times over four runs compete in the finals.
  • Luge: All compete in heats. Top 8 aggregate times over four runs compete in the finals.
  • Skeleton: Same as luge.

Scorinator:
Xkoranate.

Previous Experience:
Kaboomlandia has a fair amount of RPing experience dating back to around April 2015, but has no prior host experience, though they are currently hosting a regional association football tournament.
In=character, Kaboomlandia is a World Assembly member and abides by its resolutions. If this nation isn't in the WA, it's for practical reasons.

*Ehh-hemm, host bids are now closed. Sign ups are still open, but no more host bids may be submitted. Everyone who signed up before this point may vote for who they want to host. Please TG all submissions to this nation through TG. Your three options are:

Accept the bid from Mattijana
Accept the bid from Kaboomlandia
Abstain

We have 10 voters. One side must reach 6 votes or 5 votes with one abstain to close voting early. Also, the last two sign ups below Sjovenia count. I will update the OP soon. Thank you, and only one vote per person.
