You are now signed up and are guaranteed entry, except in the event that someone besides me winds up hosting even though I'm the only candidate in this vote other than Re-open bids, and then decides to cut the two most recently-signed up users rather than cut the two puppets as I would. But if it takes that long, I'm sure someone else will sign up and we'll have 48, which is workable. Host voting closes in about 52 hours a little before Midnight Monday night (you can't vote since you're not on the Council) at which point Llama will announce the host results - either I'm elected the host or we re-open bids, again. I doubt the latter will happen, given that it's already happened once this tournament and everyone's eager to get on with it, but what happens if we re-open bids should be self-explanatory - we re-open host bidding, then have another vote, and repeat until someone wins.

If I am in fact chosen as host, I will open the Everything thread at some point within 24 hours - it will likely be Tuesday morning or Tuesday afternoon/evening, though it could be as late as Wednesday afternoon or as early as Monday night, depending on how late host results are announced and the quality of internet at the hotel I'm staying at Tuesday night for a job interview Wednesday morning. Supposedly, there's free high-speed wi-fi all throughout the hotel, but the Yelp reviews say it's spotty. We'll have to wait and see.

Once the everything thread is up, you can post your roster and any other relevant information such as coaching staff, uniforms, or background information on your nation. Some nations simply copy/paste their roster from one edition to the next, meaning they may include stadiums, but under my bid all games will be played in Gregoryisgodistan so you don't necessarily need to do that yet.

Within a few days, the group draw will be held (likely live in some IRC channel) and a few days after that, the first matchday will take place. Before MD1, you can write an opening RP if you want to earn RP Bonus, and your roster will also earn bonus. On each Matchday thereafter, you an write an RP either about the game or about some other IC (In-character) matter, baseball-related or otherwise, and you can earn RP Bonus for that. Keep in mind that different hosts vary with how they'll treat RPs about something other than the sport/tournament in question. Personally, I won't treat them any differently, though if you RP about a different tournament entirely, that strikes me as kind of lazy and won't be graded very well - just post it in that thread. In other words, if you (for instance) also sign up for the World Bowl gridiron football tournament (and Baptism of Iron pre-tournament for newcomers, which you'd be eligible for) and then RP about that tournament in the WBC thread, it won't be graded very well - jut post it in that tournament's thread and earn a higher RP Bonus there. Brief allusions to other tournaments are fine, but full-blown RPs exclusively about other tournaments won't earn much bonus. Again, don't assume every host works like that because this isn't universal. Saintland, a well-respected user, has on several occasion RPed about the World Cup of Hockey in the Rugby World Cup thread as he was hosting the WCoH and his nation didn't care about rugby IC-ly. I don't know how the host there dealt with it, but if I were host of the RWC, I wouldn't have given those RPs nearly as much bonus as I would have if he had posted them in the WCoH thread and I were hosting that tournament. Then again, he would have posted them in the WCoH thread if I had been hosting that tournament, because it would mean he wouldn't be. Not that joint bids aren't allowed, but his nation and mine would never bid together for IC reasons. If you look at the names, the reason should be obvious. Also, grading RP isn't so much of a problem in jointly hosted tournaments since the other host grades your RP. But you should gain experience before bidding to host anyway.

Under my RP scheme as stated in the bid, the max bonus for a roster is equal to the max bonus for a single RP, but keep in mind this might not always be the case for every host. RPing will help your chances, but it won't guarantee victory, especially over a team with a higher rank than you. Those are the three R's - rank, RP, and random. Rank is your rank, which right now is 0 but will improve in future tournaments as you win games. RP is RP Bonus, which I just explained. Random is the random luck chance that factors into every scorination - it's higher in baseball than most other sports because the scorinator is supposed to reflect the course of a full 162-game season. Even a team with the max rank only has about a 70 percent chance of beating a team with no rank, no RP bonus team in any single game, so you will have some chance of success, especially if you RP actively.

With the scale I'm using, as I stated in my bid, a team with 0 rank points (like you) should be able to approach a team with the highest rank (Jeckland, who isn't signed up as of now) around the end of the group stage if they earn max RP Bonus every day. However, it will be extremely difficult to max out RP Bonus for one day, yet alone all of them, if I am the one grading. This is all stated in my bid. Also, keep in mind other tournaments may be more or less generous with the RP Bonus, so don't assume it always works the way I'm doing it. I'm also using cumulative RP Bonus, meaning it counts for the rest of the tournament without degrading - this is used widely but not exclusively in other tournaments.

Do I just make up a bunch of random names and assign them to positions, or is it more complicated than that? Rosters can be as simple or as complex as you like. It often helps, however, to have an appropriate number of players and some knowledge of the game. If your roster consists of nine players without positions, then I (not speaking for anybody else who might be hosting) wouldn't give you a good bonus, and it makes RPing what happened difficult, because nobody knows what positions your players play.

If you feel like being creative, you can assign numbers to your players, as well as things like handedness, age, height, weight, a description of them that may or may not include their particular skill set,etc. The more info you provide, the more your opponents have to work with and craft a beautiful story. And vice versa. As far as uniforms, there are folks in NS Sports who make baseball and other uniforms, but you may want to make your own with an online blank template and a program like Paint.

Rosters, uniforms etc are usually posted on the IC thread, once Greg puts it up (assuming Greg is the host). The uniform looks great Given you've put a number on the one you posted, I'd put a player name on it too, rather than just have "Name", but that might just be personal preference.
