While hydrogen may indeed be more environmentally friendly, the availability of the fuel is absolutely inferior to the availability of Diesel, the latter of which is sold at virtually any fuel station, while hydrogen is only available at selected fuel stations. Furthermore, hydrogen is priced the same as RON98 petrol in Van Luxemburg, which means it is more expensive compared to diesel fuel (ƒ1.40 compared to ƒ1 per litre for diesel). That, combined with the fuel consumption of hydrogen being higher than that of a diesel engine, makes it not very attractive for the business and leasing market. Van Luxemburgers in general are not very sensitive to environmental arguments when it comes to cars, even though the average CO2 emissions are currently at 150 gr/km. A Van Luxemburger customer judges a car more on performance relative to engine size and fuel efficiency, rather than the emissions of a vehicle.

These reasons make us think that hydrogen would not be a suitable replacement for diesel engines in the Van Luxemburger market.
