History
Adrián IV International Airport was built in 1997 to succeed the out-dated Alto de Roque Airport. When construction of the airport started in march of 1995 it was intended that it was entirely privately operated, but in January of 1996 the Avia Santos Group, the enterprise that was solely responsible for the construction of the airport, filed for bankruptcy. Construction stopped for a few weeks until the government took over. Today Alto de Roque Airport is solely meant for pilot training and Adrián V is the only airport servicing Santa Florentina.
