The MTV-94 biggest feature is its modularity. Each MTV-94 consists of a central base vehicle with modular turret units which can be changed. The MTV-94's set of turrets allow for a high level of flexibility, making the MTV-94 suited for a variety of missions.

Command, control, and targeting

The MTV-94 showcases the latest developments in military technology from Ionicus. The MTV-94 was designed around Metix Digital System's SWORD Combat Integration System. Operators of the MTV-94 can track friendly unit's positions, as well as track enemy unit's positions. Target highlighting allows for the command of weaponry, such as artillery, from the MTV-94. The integration with the SWORD Combat Integration System also allows for each unit to be monitored from a central command post. Battlefield commanders can view all vehicle operational status, check casualty count, set navigational way points, and issue commands over either an audio signal, or a text message.

The driver's position has three touchscreen displays, allowing for the driver to see navigation information, vehicle status, weapon status, and various other information types. The commander (who usually also serves as the gunner) can also view this information. A multitude of cameras provide a 360 degree view around the vehicle and can be accessed by any crew member. Thermal optic modes are available on each camera, allowing for a viewing distance of 8,000 ft at night or in poor weather. Periscopes are also provided to the driver position in the event of a camera's failure.

Armament

The armored personnel carrier (APC) variant is equipped with a remote weapons station (RWS), which can be fitted with either a 12.7mm machine gun, or a 20mm grenade launcher. The RWS is controlled from the gunner/commander's spot, located near the center of the vehicle. The RWS provides an armored camera unit, capable of both optic and thermal views, for the aiming of the weapon. An armored shell covers the mounted weapon, to protect it from small arms fire or shrapnel from a blast.

The 20mm grenade launcher variant includes an additional suite of fire control software. The 20mm launcher is capable of using configurable munitions. This allows for a warhead type to be selected, as well as a fuse program to be loaded. The operator can, for instance, choose a high explosive warhead, set to air burst mode for eliminating infantry units.

Survivability

The MTV-94, as all vehicles operated by the United Technocratic Republics of Ionicus, was designed with crew survivability in mind. The driver's position features a wall of solid titanium allow along the front and sides to provide additional protection from armor piercing rounds and explosives. Explosive bolts, detonated from an emergency activation panel in the driver's position, allow for the driver's hatch to be quickly removed. An automatic firefighting system is present throughout the vehicle, with modules in the crew compartment and engine compartments. The system can be activated either automatically, by the triggering of thermal or pressure sensors, or by the activation button, located within reach of each crew member. The fuel tank, which uses diesel fuel (less explosive than gasoline), is equipped with a self-sealing foam.

The MTV-94 is capable of operating in areas where chemical, biological, or radiological materials are present. The interior of the MTV-94 is kept at a higher air pressure than the outside air pressure. In the event of a hull breech, this will prevent contaminated air from seeping into the crew compartments of the vehicle. The activation of filters for operating inside a contaminated area can be accomplished by the activation of a switch, a press on a touch screen monitor, or the filter cartridges can be installed manually, without having to exit the vehicle.

All of the electronic systems within the MTV-94 are shielded from electromagnetic pulse. This applies to all variants of the MTV-94.

Crew Comforts

The MTV-94 was designed to provide a higher level of comfort than most modern armored personnel carriers. This is especially important for missions that demand a high level of crew endurance.

Unusual for most military vehicles, the MTV-94 is outfitted with an air conditioning and heating unit to keep the crew comfortable in desert or arctic conditions. Additionally, the MTV-94 uses standard automotive seats found in PAK Automotive's line of vehicles to provide a high level of comfort. A 300 liter water tank is kept at the front of the vehicle, with drinking straws at all stations to maintain crew hydration levels. An auxiliary 40 L liquid storage tank is also outfitted in the vehicle, which can hold electrolyte or caffeinated (or a blend of both) to be kept to maintain crew operational status.

Engine

The MTV-94 is equipped with a 380 horsepower diesel electric engine, capable of propelling the vehicle up to 125 km/h (78mph). The diesel electric hybrid engine allows for an improved fuel economy thereby extending the range. The hybrid engine also provides more electricity than a conventional motor, allowing for more electronics to be outfitted. The MTV-94 is capable of operating in either a all-wheel-drive mode or a rear-wheel-drive where the rear 8 tires are powered.

The engineers at PAK Automotive strove to produce not only a reliable engine, but one that could be maintained easily. The onboard self-diagnostic program displays which parts of the engines are in need of maintenance. Thanks to the usage of quick access panels, most components of the vehicle can be replaced in less time than it would to take on a civilian automobile.

Mobility

The MTV-94 was designed to be extremely mobile. It's usage of run-flat tires instead of tracks allows for higher speeds to be accomplished. The tires also provide buoyancy when the vehicle is operated amphibiously. The MTV-94's light weight allows for it to be airlifted in sizable quantities. The MTV-94 is also capable of being airdropped from aircraft. Additionally, electronic control modules on board the MTV-94 allows for the control of suspension firmness and tire pressure to be altered, providing mobility over a wide range of terrains, such as snow, mud, and sand.

The MTV-94 is capable of amphibious operation. In the water, the MTV-94 is propelled by four propeller units, located in armored housings at the rear of the vehicle. The MTV-94 can be made water capable in under 15 seconds. The crew must simply select the amphibious operations mode, and the MTV-94 will automatically open the armored doors covering the propeller units, divert electrical power to the propellers, and alter tire pressure.

IFV

Postby Ionicus » Mon Oct 19, 2015 3:18 pm

Image

Specifications (IFV model)
Manufacturer: PAK Automotive - Military Division
Weight: 18 tons
Length: 7 meters
Width: 3 meters
Height: 2 meters
Crew: 1 driver, 1 gunner/commander
Passengers: 8
Armor: Capable of withstanding small arms fire, 14.5mm fire, most IEDs, can be outfitted with anti-RPG slats
Armament: 25mm autocannon, 7.62mm coaxial LMG
Engine: PAK Automotive diesel electric hybrid, V6 configuration, 380 horsepower
Operational Range: 650 km (404 miles)
Top speed: Apx. 125 km/h (78mph) land, 13km/h water (8 mph)

Only the differences between the main unit and the infantry fighting vehicle are listed.

Background

The IFV variant of the MTV-94 centers around two roles. The first role is to quickly and safely deliver personnel to the battlefield. The MTV-94 is well equipped for this, being protected from small arms fire and improvised explosive devices. The second role is to assist combat personnel. The MTV-94 IFV variant comes equipped with a 25mm autocannon which can be armed with either high explosive rounds (for unarmored targets) or armor piercing rounds (for armored targets). The advanced communications suite enhances infantrymen's communications abilities and allows further integration with the SWORD Combat Integration System.

Armament

The MTV-94 infantry fighting vehicle is armed with a 25mm cannon, with an automatic loader. The 25mm cannon is capable of loading a variety of rounds, from high explosive for eliminating unarmored or lightly armored targets, to APFSDS rounds, capable of eliminating armored threats. The 25mm autocannon is electronically controlled by a system of advanced military computers. The weapon is electronically stabilized, to assist with accurate targeting while moving and/or encountering rough terrain. Sensors throughout the vehicle also assist in ensuring accurate targeting. The fire control computer is capable of determining an enemy unit type and suggesting the type of round to be loaded in order to eliminate the target, in the most appropriate means possible.

The left side of the turret is capable of being equipped with two missile launch tubes, for the fitment of anti-tank missiles. This allows for the MTV-94 IFV to eliminate heavily armored targets.

Survivability
The rounds for the IFV are kept in a wet storage system. In this system, munitions are stored in bins which are encased in a fire-suppressant liquid. If an armor piercing round were to strike the munitions compartment, the storage area would flood with fire-suppressant fluids, thereby reducing the chance of a deadly explosion.

ATGM

Postby Ionicus » Mon Oct 19, 2015 3:18 pm

Image

Specifications (ATGM model)
Manufacturer: PAK Automotive - Military Division
Weight: 18 tons
Length: 7 meters
Width: 3 meters
Height: 2 meters
Crew: 1 driver, 1 gunner/commander
Passengers: 0-8 depending upon additional munitions storage
Armor: Capable of withstanding small arms fire, 14.5mm fire, most IEDs, can be outfitted with anti-RPG slats
Armament: 10x missile launch tubes
Engine: PAK Automotive diesel electric hybrid, V6 configuration, 380 horsepower
Operational Range: 650 km (404 miles)
Top speed: Apx. 125 km/h (78mph) land, 13km/h water (8 mph)

Only the differences between the main unit and the infantry fighting vehicle are listed.

Background

The ATGM variant of the MTV-94 is designed to eliminate enemy armor from the battlefield. The MTV-94 proves to be an excellent platform for this role as its high level of maneuverability and speed allow it to quickly fire it's munitions and retreat.

SWORD integration on this platform allows for infantrymen to designate heavily armored vehicles on the battlefield and have them eliminated.

Armament

The MTV-94 ATGM variant is equipped with ten missile launch tubes, capable of being equipped with either guided or unguided missiles.

Targets are acquired through either RADAR, optical sighting, thermal sighting, or combat network data.

Long range missile strikes from the MTV-94 ATGM variant are possible. Friendly units can designate enemy armor on the battlefield, while the MTV-94 ATGM fires missiles from up to several miles away.

Survivability

Because the munitions are generally stored loaded into launch tubes on the top of the vehicle the destruction of the missile launcher assembly would result in an explosion that is directed away from the main body of the MTV-94. To date, there have been zero crew fatalities as a result of an explosion from launcher assembly.

If the passenger compartment is used for storing additional munitions, a wet-storage ammo rack is highly recommended. In a wet munitions system, munitions are stored in bins which are encased in a fire-suppressant liquid. If an armor piercing round were to strike the munitions compartment, the storage area would flood with fire-suppressant fluids, thereby greatly reducing the chance of a deadly explosion.

An example of the rear mounted 120mm artillery unit

The MTV-94 artillery variant is deigned to provide indirect fire support to infantry units. The MTV-94 platform allows for the 120mm main weapon to be deployed quickly in a variety of terrains. The turret module is fully automatic. The automatic loading system is capable of reloading the weapon every two seconds while the on-board computer systems calculate a firing solution given coordinates and atmospheric data gathered from the SWORD network, or on-board weather sensor information.

SWORD integration on the artillery model allows for infantrymen to designate targets as well as allowing for extremely accurate fire.

Armament

The mortar variant of the MTV-94 is outfitted with a 120mm mortar cannon, capable of firing a round every two seconds.

SWORD Network integration allows for the usage of GPS guided shells, capable of being fired great distances away from the battlefield. Unguided shells can also be used, for heavy barrages and "show of force" style operations.

Artillery Capabilities

The rear compartment of all variants of the MTV-94 is capable of being equipped with a 155mm artillery unit. The 155mm artillery unit is almost fully autonomous, requiring only human interaction to fire the weapon.
