TYPE 300 SMG
The Type 300 SMG is a newest version of Nihonese SMG produced by Murata company, which entered service in 1979. Already very popular in Nihonese police and special forces, the Type 300 SMG was nicknamed "Kogai by the special forces of Kaigun Rikusentai (Naval Special Landing Force). Named after spike worn by samurai and used to mark the dead, this SMG was given this name thanks to penetration power of 7.7x25mm Arakawa bullet, much greater than one offered by 9x19mm bullets used in many modern pistols. The 7.7x25mm Arakawa round was proven to be more than enough to pierce light bulletproof vests worn by many criminals in Nihon. In addition this weapon in all versions proven to be favourite of anti - communist guerilla groups which were supplied by the shogunate, due to it's compact size and usefulness in combat. It was used by National Republican Volunteer Corps of Jaharnapura and Annamese black tigers. Cuscatlani commando sombre was also seen using this weapon in battle. The current version sold is newly upgraded Type 300 / 12, introduced in 2012, which features more ergonomic grip and RIS rail system.
The Type 300 / 12 is a compact sub machine gun with 75cm of length with expanded stock and 45cm long with the stock folded. The weapon has been made with newest generation composites and fieberglass - reinforced polyamide.. The trigger and safety mechanisms were taken from AK - derivative rifles extensively used by Imperial Nihonese Army. The straight magazine holding 22x 7.7x25mm Arakawa rounds of is placed in front of the pistol grip. The stock can be folded. The weapon was outfitted with five 20mm RIS systems; four on it's hand guard and one on top of the upper receiver.
General internal build of Type 300 is based on the Ak rifle series also: the selector and ejection port are all placed on right side of the receiver, similar to AK series. The fire mode, either single or continuous, can be changed by lowering or moving up the selector. Firing system is a simple closed bolt straight blowback type as used in AK rifle series.
The major strength of this rifle is it's 7.7x25mm Arakawa round. It has been proven during the tests that 7.7x25mm Arakawa has much more penetration power than 9x19mm round, and can with ease defeat PASGT helmet or lightweight bulletproof vests (NIJ Level 1). A new Type 300T variant with 50 round tube magazine has been also released.
