The LY65 Ru'ahk is an adaptable and potent shoulder-fired recoilless rocket and missile-launcher system. Initially created simply to serve as a squad or section-level direct fire weapon, it expanded its scope to include multiple roles. It now fills the roll of a man portable incendiary rocket launcher, anti-tank missile launcher, and MANPAD with Covenant military forces. Highly versatile, it is deployed on the squad level and gives infantry squads a far greater impact upon the battlespace than would be expected. First operationally deployed in Marshite Holy Warrior special operations where it earned the Pushanian name 'Ruza'Marsi', or the Flame God, it is known in Lyras (and internationally) as the Ru'ahk or 'Devastation' in Hebrew.

The majority of the weapon’s body is made of high-durability, lightweight, impact-resistant fibreglass-reinforced polyamide. This comes in a high-grip matte finish, with a variety of colours or camouflage patterns available.
The working parts and majority of the gas system are tungsten primarily for its very high heat tolerance. Internal electrics are composed of Indium Gallium Arsenide, selected despite its higher cost over silicon for its extremely high resistance to electromagnetic pulse attack. Circuitry is further protected by kraton insulation, to further improve electromagnetic resilience. Given the very-short lengths of wiring, however, this was never likely to be a problem, in any case.
Sundries are generally composed of synthetics, to keep the weapon’s weight down as far as practical, given the parameters of performance. This is a marked difference from the otherwise conceptually not-dissimilar Javelin, which made far greater use of metals in its construction, and consequently was of considerably greater weight. Lowering the weight was considered a primary issue to improve combat performance, with regards to mobility and ammunition carriage in particular.
The LY65 is designed to employ one of three configuration. The usual front-line infantry configuration is a side-by-side two-tube barrel which allows the use of two 80mm rockets, normally either HEDP or thermobaric. The second configuration is a single tube capable of supporting a guided missile of up to 105mm diameter. The third is for a single LA-430 ‘Attero’ shoulder-fired anti-aircraft missile, or equivalent. Changing between these configurations is simple. Eight latches, four on the front and four on the back, keep the tubes secured. Opening them up and applying pressure ejects the tube. Replacement tube is pushed in until it fits snugly (there should be an audible click), and then latched in.

What makes the LY65 such a powerful weapon system is the variety of firepower it can deliver in both direct attack and guided modes. While options within that spectrum in both 80mm and 105mm exist, the most commonly used ammunition is listed below. This is by no means exhaustive.
Image
1) LY1049 80mm thermobaric rocket. In keeping with other Lyran modern traditions, the thermobaric 80mm rocket is considered the primary weapon the LY65 uses. It is a two-stage explosive, first thermobaric and then brutal TPA. TPA is triethylaluminum thickened with polyisobytylene. TEA, an organometallic compound, is pyrophoric and burns spontaneously at temperatures of 1200 °C (2192 °F) when exposed to air. It burns "white hot" because of the aluminum, much hotter than gasoline or napalm. The light and heat emission is very intense and can produce skin burns from some (close) distance without direct contact with the flame, by thermal radiation alone. The result is a blasted landscape, utterly ruined by fire. The lethality of the munition is considerable. The LY1049’s 80mm thermobaric blast has a kill radius of 24 m and a casualty radius if nearly 60m, with much of these casualties being severe in nature. There exists a 105mm version of this rocket, the LY1051, which is also used extensively. Both versions are useful against both helicopters and light vehicles.
2) LY1048 80mm HEDP rocket. Designed to be an effective anti-armor system as well as a useful multi-role anti-personnel system, the high explosive dual-purpose rocket is shaped tandem warhead combined with the high penetration value of the HP-AT4 rocket. The combination of high penetration value and highly potent after-armour effects had led to this round being widely distributed amongst airborne forces who need portable and effective anti-armour weaponry, and whose logistics tail precludes carrying more specialist rounds. It is capable of defeating 630mm of RHA and is useful against helicopters as well.
3) LY1052 80mm canister rocket. Designed for direct-fire against infantry in the open, the 80mm canister rocket employs several hundred flechettes fired over a wide area, each capable of shredding flesh and bone. The effectiveness of this weapon is that it can devastate enemy infantry while keeping the surrounding area is kept relatively undamaged. While ineffective against anything other than the lightest of vehicles, it has been used to good effect against light helicopters. A 105mm version also exists, the LY1053.
4) LY1050 105mm HEAT guided missile. Using a top-attack flight profile, the Ru’ahk’s 105mm HEAT missile is designed to allow the engagement of armoured vehicles by infantry from up to 2,000m. A tandem shaped-charge weapon, it is capable of penetrating 1,200mm of RHA after ERA-effects. Combined with a top-attack guidance system which allows it to hit the weakest part of the armor, the guided HEAT is a powerful anti-armor missile, effective against the vast majority of armoured vehicles extant in the battlespace.
5) LA-430 ‘Attero’ MANPAD missile.

An 80mm Lyro-Lamonian shoulder-fired anti-aircraft missile, the Attero is an IIR–guided all-aspect weapon optimised for the destruction of low flying aircraft and UAVs, providing tactical air defence for force elements. With a 7,000m range, and 3,000m ceiling, the Attero is a highly useful addition to a light formation’s aerospace denial efforts. The Attero is a little longer than the LY65 tube, and protrudes from the front of the launcher, which allows the seeker-head to obtain better resolution on the target.

The LY65 itself is capable of being modified to use any known operating battlespace system and aiming system. However, Lyran Arms has used the advantages inherent on the increasing connectivity of BALCOTH to the extant Cromwell II battlespace system and associated weapons. It is this connection which makes the LY65 a game-changing weapon system for infantry.
The LY65 is capable of firing as a direct fire weapon without post-launch guidance of any sort. Pre-launch, BALCOTH assisted aiming, with access to relevant target data, aiming calculations, and weather and terrain reports, can help the user predict within six inches where the LY65 will make an impact on any given shot with any given munition. This is represented by an area of effect readout on the BALCOTH heads up display complete color-coded casualty predictive ranges. This helps the user send a shot on a sprinting soldier or moving vehicle with the same confidence as one standing in the open.
This advantage continues on the air and against vehicles. In direct fire mode, the system can calculate penetration possibility as well as likely flight characteristics. The user can set point detonation distance, and determine whether to set a timed or impact fuze.
In guided mode, BALCOTH combines with the guidance systems on the 105mm missiles to help track and destroy targets. Using IIR top-down attack modes against ground vehicles or Attero MANPAD munitions against aircraft, the LY65 represents a very real threat to a very wide variety of targets.
Depending on conditions, teams (in Lyran and Marshite service) range between one and three operators. The primary operator has the Ru’ahk and a configuration insert, with the configuration insert loaded, and one additional load for the insert. The secondary operator carries two additional loads, and the second configuration insert, if applicable. The third team member, if present, carries two further loads, a third insert (if applicable) and the maintenance and diagnostic packages. Due to the weight of the system and ammunition, all three generally carry lighter personal weapons than standard.

The LY65 is a multiple use device that eases the logistical capabilities of the nation while increasing the lethality of the infantry squad. Being an effective direct fire multi-role guided and unguided weapon system, it is important that Lyran Arms looks over those who would field it. Therefore, it is a Level I restricted system. Does not come with sensitive materials.
The LY65 ‘Ru'ahk' RPG Launcher is available at $165,000 per launcher, with DPRs available at NS$1.65 billion.
DPR for any one munition system is at $110 million.
Access to the LY4048 'Starlight' Nuclear Munition is restricted to states of the Bredubar Covenant only.
Purchase through Lyran Arms.
Mokastana: Then Lyras happened.

Allanea: Wanting to avoid fighting Lyras' fuck-huge military is also a reasonable IC consideration

TPF: Who is stupid enough to attack a Lyran convoy?

Sumer: Honestly, I'd rather face Doom's military with Doom having a 3-1 advantage over me, than take a 1-1 fight with a well-supplied Lyran tank unit.

Kinsgard: RL Lyras is like a real life video game character.

Ieperithem: Eighty four. Eighty four percent of their terrifyingly massive GDP goes directly into their military. And they actually know how to manage it. It's safe to say there isn't a single nation that could feasibly stand against them if they wanted it to die.
Yikes. Just... Yikes.
