The Imperial Republic of Automagfreek

Department of the Navy

In accordance with Executive Order 100890 issued by the Great Hall under authority of the office of Primus, the Imperial Republican Navy of Automagfreek will begin conducting operations both within our hemisphere and globally to halt the trafficking of human beings. It has been decreed by Primus Nero Sevrin that the slave trade is an affront to free humanity and must be permanently dismantled, and as such the Navy shall be undertaking the following actions against any slave ship it encounters on the high seas, up to and including the following:

  • Stoppage of said vessel for inspection by Freekish sailors
  • Seizure of any assets on board, including humans being trafficked for slavery, as well as weaponry, etc.
  • Seizure of the entire vessel, and arrest of the crew
  • Engagement of any hostile escort ships
  • Engagement of any hostile crew

The Great Hall as also decreed that the Imperial Republican Navy is authorized to engage and eliminate any coastal slave trading depots, and Sentinel Marines are authorized to detain or kill any belligerent slaver exhibiting hostility or refusing to comply with Freekish mandate that all slaves found at said installation are to be freed immediately. It would be in the best interest of all current slave trading states or entities to abandon their practice at once, for the resolve of our armed forces is not to be tested lightly.

Admiral Lazarus Dagon
-Chief of Naval Operations

*****************

Across the vast reaches of the Imperial Republic, the Navy began to prepare itself for seaborne operations. Naval stations located not only on AMF proper, but Freeksbury, Belphegoria, and many more situated in conquered territories across the ages, saw a rapid spike in activity as men and material began to make themselves ready for what may turn out to be a long campaign. Engagement plans had been drawn up by Senior Naval Intelligence Officers which detailed which assets would best be suited where, because sending entire fleets to confront a single slave ship would be a pointless waste of time and resources. Key to this whole operation would be the latest generation of the 'Supremacy' class submarine, for it could not only patrol vast areas of the sea from below, it could also transport and deploy Special Operations Forces rapidly to board an offending vessel and bring it to heel quickly.

There would be little doubt that this latest decree from the Great Hall would raise eyebrows both at home and abroad, for there were still some within Gholgoth itself which practiced the slave trade, and close allies such as Doomingsland would have to be confronted more... diplomatically. Automagfreek was not out to alienate old friends with this latest operation, preferring instead to strike deals in order to avoid unnecessary warfare and fraying of relations. Nevertheless, any scenario was carefully accounted for, and since Automagfreek was already in a heightened state of alert due to the naval blockade of Ralkovia, it would be well prepared to deal with any full scale retaliatory measures from the outside.

The first submarine officially deployed under 'Operation: Chain Snap' was the FRN Alpengeist, reassigned almost immediately from deployment to the Ralkovian blockade. It was one of the most recently constructed vessels of the latest 'Supremacy' class line, and boasted the most advanced Freekish technology ever fielded. It would also be able to deploy an unspecified number of Force Theta operatives, AMF's elite naval special forces, and would operate in the open seas to the south of Gholgoth Minor. This news was accepted positively by the public, who had traditionally approved of anti-slaving operations even under the authoritarian regime of Damien Dreadfire, a sentiment that was also widely hailed amongst the Freekish-Panteran peoples. It remained to be seen, however, what the rest of the international community would think of one of the worlds oldest super-powers stepping back into the anti-slaving fray...

Been looking around for interesting threads to join and some nations I haven't interacted with in a while. I don't see this as a grave dig since nobody posted, so let's just say reliable news takes a long time to get to Kahanistan from Gholgoth. :) May give me a chance to field a new class of ship too.

Eastport, Kahanistan

With slavery on the rise, and two wars with the Doomani glutting the slave market for decades to come, Kahanistan decided to join the global crusade against that evil institution. In the eastern port city of Eastport, the Republic Navy base floated a peculiar design.

The ship was essentially a massive, heavily armoured transport vessel from the ground up, with an extremely powerful nuclear reactor to propel its 1.2 million ton mass, its weapons added on after the hull had been built and rigourously tested. RKS Sviatogor, the lead ship of the new Sviatogor class bulk cruiser, was capable of transporting over 100,000 freed slaves to their new homes in Kahanistan or other nations that had banned slavery. When not carrying slaves, she carried 10,000 naval infantry for boarding slave ships. Sviatogor also had several one-metre naval ETC guns and a limited assortment of anti-air and anti-shipping missiles, and would operate as the flagship of the new Second Slave Liberation Fleet, which would, if diplomacy allowed, be the first Kahanistanian fleet to fight with the Freekish Navy rather than against it.

Kahanistan had made enemies of the Gholgoth states of Ralkovia, Scandinvans and Parthia over slavery as well as their treatment of Arabs and Muslims which comprised a large segment of Kahanistan's population. However, attitudes toward the Freekish had thawed slightly with the attack on Doomingsland over slavery at the same time as the Second Doomani War in 2007. President Margaret Delray knew it was unlikely that a fleet flying the flag of the Free Republic would be welcomed in Gholgoth regardless of its intentions, but saw fit to write to the new government, with input from Fleet Admiral Carl Jenkins, Commander of Naval Operations.

Official Statement of the Free Republic of Kahanistan

The Government of Kahanistan regrets that it has taken so long for credible reports to arrive from Gholgoth, especially since we still have no formal relations. To combat the scourge of slavery that has taken billions of our citizens, we propose an exchange of ambassadors and offer the assistance of the 73 ships of the Second Slave Liberation Fleet, totaling 120,000 troops.

Signed,
Margaret Delray,
President of Kahanistan

Fleet Admiral Carl Jenkins,
Commander of Naval Operations

Dragomir Karovic,
Minister of Foreign Affairs

To: the Government of the Imperial Republic of Automagfreek
From: the Foreign Ministry of the Greater Holy Empire of Tagmatium
Subject: the Fate of Foreign-Flagged Vessels

Honoured sirs,

The Imperial Government of the Greater Holy Empire is concerned with your recent proclamation on the fate of slavers and their possessions, as it seems nothing but rash.

Whilst Tagmatium respects the task you have taken upon yourselves, the fate of foreign-flagged vessels under the employ or suspected of carrying either slavers or their possessions is now under question. Does the Imperial Republic presume to police what foreign vessels are carrying, or who they are carrying? To attack and despoil the vessels of the nations you are at war with, but to attack, or attempt to, the shipping of a power that is not involved with your wars is another. “Related measures” is far too vague a term to assure the Imperial Government that the government Automagfreek is not indulging in piracy for the sake of disrupting trade for its own ends.

The Greater Holy Empire is not a slaver state, and it endeavours to make sure that none of its subjects are involved with the trade. However, the Imperial Government would prefer it the government of Automagfreek did not extend its war to foreign-flagged vessels involved in trade with any nation that Automagfreek finds itself at war with because of moral outrage. Any Tagmatine-flagged vessels involved with trade will be dealt with by the Imperial Government, not destroyed out of hand by Freekish warships. Similarly, if vessels under the flag of the Greater Holy Empire are suspected of trade with what the Imperial Republic considered to be a slaver state, then the Imperial Government would prefer it if they were reported, rather than become benefit of the Imperial Republic’s mercy.

If a Tagmatine-flagged vessel is found to be carrying any human cargo, then the Imperial Government requires that the crew, the vessel and any cargo are detained, rather than suffer Freekish justice. Especially if the Imperial Government is to ignore that any vessel would have to have been illegally boarded for that to be truly ascertained. Rest assured, any they will face the full force of Tagmatine law for their acts. Similarly, Automagfreek must assure the Imperial Government that any Tagmatine citizen found trading with slavers, or taking part in the slave trade, is detained, rather than summarily executed, so that they can face what is internationally recognised as justice.

On top of the above, the Imperial Government politely asks that the Imperial Republic guarantees that no foreign-flagged vessels, especially not those of the Greater Holy Empire, are fired upon without due provocation. If the Greater Holy Empire is given to suspect that a Tagmatine-flagged vessel has been destroyed by the Imperial Republic, then the Imperial Government asks that it is allowed to investigate such possibilities. In the event that this possibility is the case, then it is required that Automagfreek has an eye to fully reimbursing any company or individual from the Greater Holy Empire who has suffered loss due to the actions if its armed forces.

The Greater Holy Empire will take a dim view of any actions by the Imperial Republic that results in the injury or death of any Tagmatine citizen, the destruction or damage of property belonging to a citizen of the Greater Holy Empire. Whether they are guilty of any offences related to slavery, such a matter is up to a court of law in Tagmatium, or any other nation that sufficiently recognises the rule of law. Not one that declares it will illegally board vessels or even murder crews merely on the suspicion that they are doing something that the government of Automagfreek finds morally reprehensible.

May God will that your endeavour succeeds,

Yours sincerely,

Eugenios Goulielmos,

Minister for Foreign Affairs

Of the

Greater Holy Empire of Tagmatium

OOC: Hmmm, never expected anyone to bring this thread back to life. To be honest, so much time has passed now that I really don't care about going after slavers. But, if you guys want to continue the RP, I'll be glad to.

OOC: Great! Another old enemy slaver state to cross swords with. I forgot Kraven was in Gholgoth now too. Looks like all my old enemies but Doomingsland are there.

The PRG, while against slavery, would like to remind you that it is an international offense to enforce your laws in international waters.

Internal Memo #0050785

Postby Caninope » Sat Mar 26, 2011 12:42 pm

(Leaked) Internal Memo #0050785
From: Jack Meterson, Secretary of the Navy
To: William Jahon, Chief of Staff; High Overlord Opie; Walther Clicket, Secretary of War; Alexander Frum, Commandant of the Marines and Chief of Staff for the War Departments
Subject: Piracy in the High Seas

Gentleman, it has recently come to my attention that several nations have decided to take it upon themselves to attack slaver ships, coming. The Government of Caninope has an opportunity- the Department of Foreign relations has been asking for us to move beyond our normal bounds, and while we have been working on growing domestically, this seems to be perfect to move into the global current of things. This would also be perfect for any opportunities to portray our growing naval power, and not let our military sit around all day.
