The blue-uniformed man lit his cigar with a small gold zippo lighter. He took a moment to inhale a large lungfull of smoke, before exhaling it in a stream that made him look akin to a steam train. He looked over at the young woman, similarly uniformed, holding a telephone to her shoulder. She nodded to him as he took another lungfull of smoke, which he then proceeded to exhale in a similar fashion. He looked out over the bay for a moment, before adding "Put him on speaker"

The young woman clicked a button on the phone and then replaced the reciever. The man walked over to the desk, leaning on it as he spoke

"You want us to begin launching now, sir?" he asked, taking a puff of cigar adding "Are we not to wait for the Brewdomians?"

<<"This is merely for defensive purposes, Admiral">> the authouritve voice on the end of the phone replied <<"We'll move on designated targets when the Brewdomians do. However, anything can happen in the next half hour. We should be prepared for a counter-invasion by NEMA and NEMA-allied forces, against us or our allies.">>

"Understood. I'll begin launching the subfleet immediately" the Admiral replied, and the line went dead. He sighed, taking a final lungful of cigar smoke, before casually tossing it out of the open window of the control station. He looked at the young woman, who remained silent throughout the discussion

"Well? You heard the man. Sound the general alarm" he said, removing a bottle of scotch and a tumbled from the cabinet on the far wall as the woman took her seat behind a large control console, donning a headset.

Outside, the massive Halifax Naval Yard was abuzz with activity. The main submarine base for the nation, the large bay encompassed several massive hardened sub pens, mainly for the Tatum Class SSCNs and Poseidon Class SSCVNs that regularly docked there. Across the complex, which was defended by dotted missile launchers, radar sites and sonar buoys, loudspeakers on tall silver poles echoed out the message in the silky smooth voice of the woman;

Even before the message ended, the first of two Tatum Class SSCN's had emerged from the hardened sub pens and was making it's way out into open waters. As soon as the large tail cleared the pen, the snub nose of the second was beginning to move from it's own pen. Deep in the larger pen, UNS Poseidon lurked, awaiting clearance. Soon, the entire subfleet would be out there, looking for signs of enemy ships moving too close to Ustian waters.

The Industrial Imperium was slow to emerge onto the world stage. The isolated Imperium preferred to sit and watch the affairs of the world from behind it's steel walls and toxic clouds. Content to build and create for their own amusement they slowly collected the anger of those left ravaged by war. Those left homeless and helpless and soon the Industrial Imperium's military began to grow. They began to grow and expand, first conquering the small isles near the Imperium and then slowly gazing upon the affairs of their brothers with war hungry eyes.

The Nexus was a brother state of the Conglomerate. A favorite playmate of destruction for many in Abruzi as they snuck into the Nexus to serve in their military or to even gaze upon the martial might of their brothers. The Imperial Military was envious of their constant state of warfare or action, looking upon their Autocrat Queen Athena as one who was unnecessarily cautious martially.Those of Scandinvan descent who emigrated to Abruzi which itself was part of the Scandinvan Realm though marriage also cried out for their leader, Forge Lord David to take charge of the military and order it into action.

National pride fostered both by the Church which ruled the lives of the Serfs and the State which ruled the lives of not only the Serfs but all soon became a raging bellow of anger and hatred as war after war was merely watched by the Imperium. Finally the Nexus deployment to Ewa came. The call to war had sounded and this time the Forge Queen would allow her baying dogs of combat to be loosed into the fray.
