Official Proclamation
The government and people of the Imperial Federation of Reformed Britannia have been constantly beleaguered as of late; indeed, our nation has been in a seemingly perpetual state of war for as long as any government official or citizen can remember. In the campaigns of Imperial expansion , and in the defence of our holdings against the aggression of foreign powers, we have sent many young Britannian men to die for their King.
What we wish to state to the world is simple:no more.
The state and people of Reformed Britannia have grown weary of the plague of constant war; brothers, sons, cousins, friends and fathers who leave for the front-never to return again to the arms of their loved ones. We view this as a failure of our relatively expansionist foreign policy, and as such, we are instituting a change.
No further military expansion or overly aggressive intervention will be undertaken by the Empire, unless our allies call upon us to aid them in the defence of their own country. Furthermore, the Imperial Federation hereby relinquishes control over its foreign assets; specifically, our 25% share in the private industry of Tia Regness and our 50% share in the private sector of Grecht-Albertsstein. We will also abandon any military outposts we hold in foreign nations and recall the soldiers and equipment stationed there back to our own lands.
This merely means that we will be taking a more peaceful approach to world affairs as opposed to our previous policy of aggressive intervention wherever and whenever we saw fit.
We wish to issue an apology to any nations who feel they may have been affected negatively by Britannian imperialism; we realise that we have made mistakes, and we are now trying to make amends. The days of expansionism are over.
This change in foreign policy merely means that we will be taking a more peaceful approach to world affairs as opposed to our previous policy of aggressive intervention wherever and whenever we saw fit. We will still assist our allies in a crisis, and His Majesty's Armed Forces will stand ready to destroy any threat to our national security.
This does not mean we are entering isolationism or completely ceasing all expansion, however. We are looking at this as an opportunity to establish positive trading relations with many nations; surely, wealth through trade with the various powers of the world will bring us much more fortune than wealth acquired through conquest and bloodshed. Therefore, we extend an invitation to any nations who are willing to trade with us-simply request a trade agreement, and we would be willing to negotiate it.
As for further expansion of the Imperial Federation, it will be by peaceful means; i.e. if a nation desires to become a protectorate under the Imperial Federation, they can request such an agreement from the Britannian government. We hope to never have to conquer another nation by violence or bloodshed again.
The new Britannia will be a much more agreeable nation than before; we will be focused on trade and prosperity for all, as opposed to ruthlessly expanding our lands. With luck, our current war will be one of the last we ever fight. That is all.
God bless Britannia,
His Imperial and Royal Highness King Robert II
