U.S.S Venture, NCC-1756-A
Galaxy-Class Starship
Sector 2421-Alpha
28th November 2386

The regal form of the majestic Federation Starship slipped slowly through an emission Nebula. The majority of the crew who weren't working, and some who were meant to be, were stood at the viewports watching the natural beauty that was all around them. The starship had been charting this nebula for only a few hours and the novelty of a new nebula hadn't worn off on the crew yet. The Starship; Venture, moved through the open space they had travelled through before moving back into the gases of the Nebula, it's navigational deflector discreetly diverting the gases away from the ship, creating the illusion that the ship was travelling through a corridor of open space. Sensors scans were sweeping back and forth across the local area as the crew got about the task of cataloguing the nebula. The ships Executive Officer; Commander Tolian Naros, was moving through the ship and rousting those gawking at the gases outside and back to work, Captain Niles after all wasn't a fool.

After completing his rounds, Naros returned to the bridge and sat down in the Executive officers chair and listened into the conversation that was going on.

"So does it have a name yet?" Lieutenant Commander Tesla Nouvon, the ships Betazoid security officer asked from her station "We can't just keep calling it 'The Nebula'"

"Not that we know of" Captain Kate Niles replied "Check the database for all Federation Planets"

"None" Lieutenant Nathan Peterson, Science Officer responded "It's tradition to call it after the discoverer"

"Venture Nebula, that's really got a ring to it" Niles grinned.

"Indeed" Peterson replied "However, our predecessor already named one that"

"What then?" Niles asked.

"Niles Nebula?" Naros suggested.

"Sounds a bit pretentious to name it after myself" Niles commented.

"We'll name it after you then Ma'am" Peterson grinned.

The bridge crew all smiled as they entered this new designation into the main computer as the ship began to enter into another area, much larger this time, of open space. The happy atmosphere on the bridge was broken by the sudden beeping from the rear of the bridge and the tactical console.

"Contact ahead!" Tesla reported urgently.

"Can you identify?" Niles asked as she leant forward.

"Duranium signature" Tesla replied "Tritanium traces as well"

"Interesting" Niles commented thoughtfully.

"Entering visual range" Tesla reported as she brought up the image on the view screen. Upon magnification the unmistakable shape of a Federation Starship was visible.

"A federation ship?" Niles asked, excited as she stood and walked a few steps forward to look better at the ship on the screen.

"Ambassador Class" Tesla confirmed "NCC-1756, USS...Venture"

Six towers of shimmering light heralded the arrival of six Starfleet officers on the old Starfleet vessel. The bridge of the old Venture was dark, a result of being sat there for nearly two decades. As they materialized the six officers activated the lights that were attached, just above the advanced sights of their Phaser Rifles. The team quickly swept across the bridge and the handful of other rooms that made up deck one, just in time for the emergency lights to flicker on, and the early LCARs screens to activate, albeit weakly.

Engineering to Bridge, emergency power restored, give me twenty minutes to restart the Warp core and restore main power, then we can work on getting her moving again

Commander Naros smiled at the brief and blunt report from their Tellerite chief engineer who had beamed aboard to get the ship up and running. Indeed restarting the Matter-Antimatter reaction was the easy part, the hard part was channeling the superheated drive plasma to the Nacelles were they would generate the warp field, after all the conduits hadn't been used in years. As expected, the ship was in a state, although all the escape pods had been launched, and no bodies had been found anywhere, indicating that the crew had made if off the ship. This added a new job to the Venture's tasking orders, once both ships were up and running they would have to explore the nearby area for planets where the crew could have landed, or been taken. All in all, the Venture had stumbled upon quite a task.
Ok, so I’ve discovered one of my lost ships, yay. Now it is my intention to restart the ship and take it home, also to find out what has happened to the crew. Now depending on your type of nation, you can either have rescued them, but for whatever reason were unable to take them home, or have captured and held them prisoner. Either way, the Venture's will make it to your planet, either by following the Escape pods flight plan, or by your ship being hiding near the Venture to ambush anything that came across it. As stated in the thread title, TG me for information

Shallow space
Near planet 1983998
Lewan territory

The first things immediately visible are rows of sleeping creatures, held in their place by a few hundred wires and floating peacefully in white quartz chambers. The beings, or what can be seen of them through the glass, are vaguely humanoid, with large cessile frills and long tails waving about gently. The quiet seems almost to echo throughout the darkened room.

A tiny insectlike creature makes small clinking sounds as it crawls over to a metal sphere and presses a few of its spidery limbs up against it, almost affectionately. It can now be seen that the first sphere is attached by a few wires to the wall.

In the leftmost chamber, the quartz slides down to reveal the floating creature. Its orange eyes are eerily open, and one could hardly tell if it were awake. The wires attached to its back detach, and one pushes it lazily to the floor. The spidery being leaps at it, burrowing its legs into the tall one's skull. This shoots it awake, and it looks around before brushing the little robot away.

Striding with supreme confidence, the tall one, which can now be seen to have forest-green scales covering its body, steps to the front of the ship. It, of course, knows why the servant woke him. The offending ship can be seen with the naked eye.

Deciding to let his brethren slumber for a while longer, the reptile types in a transmission to a medium sized grey satellite about as tall as he is. He sets the coordinates on the wormhole for the nearby planet and sets it off with hardly a ripple. Nothing save a fourth dimensional creature would be able to detect its departure.

Still Lewan territory

A low beeping sound could be heard resonating through the room. This announced the arrival of a satellite, and a thin metal arm maneuvered to be adjacent to a tall, rippling pillar of heat and antigravity. The arrival announced itself with a warping of the nearby spacetime and the arm dutifully picked it up and set it on the floor next to 34952. She thanked the arm, a habit unusual among the species and possibly unique to her. The message read off the blue holoscreen the satellite projected, and her stomach gave a little hop of delight.

She spoke into the metal disk on her right wrist, a remnant from the race's weakling diplomatic days, informing all who it concerned about the arrival.
___________________________________________________________________________

In the communications room high above the planet's surface, and above the howling winds and crackling static, it was conveyed amongst the communicators that a transmission was in order. However all that the nearby Starship would likely receive was static. Loud enough to be a transmission, surely, but incomprehensible.

A cliff face on planet 1983998

A white building could be seen, although the view was nowhere near perfect as a hell of a sandstorm was raging. The structure might look insignificant, but it was clearly not. Zooming in would reveal turrets embedded in the walls of the cliff, and there were fighter craft sitting in front, dwarfed by the white dome but there nonetheless.

U.S.S Venture, NCC-1756-A
Galaxy-Class Starship
Niles Nebula
28th November 2386

The larger Starship stood sentinel over it's smaller namesake. Watching carefully as the ships power reading edged slowly upwards as the away team got about the painstaking task of returning the starship to operational status. For now there was only two dozern officers on-board, natuarlly there would have to be more beamed aboard as soon as they were ready to leave the Nebula. The crew watched as the ships running light flickered on, and the bright light that illuminated the dorsal hull of the saucer and the ships name and regisetery.

"Status report from the away team" Peterson reported "They've re-started the M/AM reaction, Commander Henal reports that his staff are checking the EPS conduits to ensure they don't blow the ship up when they attempt to route the Drive Plasma to the Naccelles, Henal reports however that all scans indicate that the Warp Naccelles are still entact, as are the Warp Coils, he beleives he can get the ship back up in a few hours"

"Any indication of where the crew is?" Niles asked.

"No sir, we're combing the ships Computer for any indication of where they got to, but the ships decades old, we're having trouble interfacing, Lieutenant Baxter is manufacturing an interlink" Peteron replied.

"What's their weapons load-out?" Niles asked "I don't want us to be escorting a sitting duck back to the Federation"

"Their Phaser banks are still entact, the Capacitors are charging" Peterson replied.

"Phaser banks, not worked with them in a while" Niles commented.

"Type IX, last type before we switched to array's" Peterson confirmed "They've got a complement of Photon Torpedo's, relativly low-yield compared to modern devices, but their still more than enough to cause damage"

"Very well, lets launch a few probes to continue our scans of the Nebula, we've still got a job to do out here" Niles ordered as the starship got back to it's work.

The reptile at the fore of the ship heard the return and knew that his alert had gone over well enough. He turned away from the panoramic window and strode to a line in one wall, which revealed itself as an elevator.

On the lowest floor, there was a large cylindrical quartz window in the middle of the room, with a circular door in the hull and an airlock surrounding the window. This weird device was clearly already primed, as something was coiled upon itself inside. A closer look might reveal the thing to be like unto a snake, but with sectioned armor and a head that looked as if it had been cut in half. The reptile walked to a simple control panel in the wall and slid a magnetic switch down. The doors slid open with this motion, and four rings descended from the ceiling with startling speed and appeared to accelerate the odd machine's departure by a few orders of magnitude.

From the Federation Starship, one thing was clear. The object, whatever it was, was headed directly for the Venture.

Galaxy-Class Starship
Niles Nebula
28th November 2386

Things had quieted down on the Venture as work proceeded apace, both the charting of the nebula, and the salvage of the old Venture. Niles had removed herself to her ready room and stood looking out the main viewport, she could see the smaller starship against the majestic swirling gas clouds of the nebula, lit up by the nearby stars. Looking out across the expanse, she frowned as she saw a small object emerge from the gases, she turned sharply and returned to the bridge.

"Sensor contact" Peterson reported "It's heading right for the Venture"

Niles frowned, not best pleased about this.
"Yellow alert, raise shields" She ordered "Put us in between the Venture and the inbound object, stand-by tractor beam"

Her officers responded and the ship surged forward and placed itself directly in the firing line. The crew on the original venture would no doubt wonder what the hell was going on.

"It's still approaching" Peterson reported.

"Tractor beam" Niles ordered. The releif Tactical officer nodded and carried out the instructions. From one of the fore tractor emitters, a beam of blue light emerged reaching out and grasping the unknown construct.

"Full sensor scan before we attempt to bring it on-board, or disable it" Niles added.

A long range scan would reveal that the thing is constructed mostly out of titanium, and has no shielding or weaponry. The only thing it does have that you might pick up is a medium sized battery in the head and some electromagnets. The sectioned parts are discrete and contain something that makes the thing's gravity signature less than zero, i.e. it would repel anything in the near vicinity slightly.

The machine did not much resist upon being hit by the beam; it seemed either not to care or not to notice.

On the host craft, still looking out on the ship with what might look to be sadness or nostalgia, the reptilian creature looked over the remainder of the serpentine machines. Perhaps enough of them might overwhelm whatever technology was being employed? Of course assaulting the ship would work as well but was unacceptable for the time being.

As such the being merely watched as the first one floated in the grip of the strange blue beam, absentmindedly preparing another four.

The Venture's powerful tractor beam kept a firm hold on the unknown construct, the Tractor beam was designed to hold onto ships nearly the same size as the ship that was emmitting it, and for objects without an engine, cthe tractor beam could move a small space station alone. It therefore had little difficulty holding onto such a small thing. Niles wasn't fond of the idea of bringing the thing onto her ship, so she instructed them to keep bombarding the damn thing with sensors beams for as long as was productive before beaming it onto the ship. She turned to Peterson, who was acting as her 2IC until Naros got back.

"Have Ensigns Adney and Turner take Runabout Amazon to the edge of the gas cloud and send a transmission to Starfleet Command, informing them of our discovery" She ordered "Suggest to Starfleet that they send a couple of ships to escort the Venture back to Starbase 91"

Peterson nodded and a few minutes later, Niles watched as the Danbue class runabout sped from the shuttlebay and disappear off into the clouds.

Now things start to get interesting.

Shallow space
Near planet 1983998

The reptilian thing noticed the small shuttle streaking away from the mothership. It thought to itself that the small craft may do just as well, and fired the primed serpents after it. After a second of travel the things disappeared, only to reappear on the side of the shuttle, clamped on with both magnets and sharpened hooks. The space around them distorted in a pattern resembling the wake of a boat, and in another few milliseconds the shuttle had disappeared as well.

Planet 1983998
The shuttle manifested again with most of its momentum cancelled and the front half of it buried in a cliff face, the metal smashed in upon itself and any glass shattered irreparably. No life was visible and the temperature would read at over one hundred degrees Centigrade. The craft was a few hundred feet from the ground, which was sandy and desolate.

Shallow space
Near planet 1983998

The reptilian being sent another satellite to the nearby world, meandering up the ramp until he got to the fore again. He spent a moment looking over the massive Federation ship before launching the thing. Its message would likely lead to success on the Empire's part, and his life might be spent in more glamorous pursuits. However for the meantime this would have to do, and gods help him if he failed.

The two officers climbed back into their seats as the computer tallied of a series of reports. The Runabout was still operational, as the emergency forcefields at activated to secure any hull breachs, and the shields had raised to support the structural integrity grid., and they only had to work out exactly what had happened. Ensign Rachel Adney took up the pilots seat and gunned the Runabouts impulse engines and they began to gain altitude. Rachel wasn't best pleased, with the viewport of Transparent Aluminum shattered, she had to bow her head underneath the force field to reach the controls, which was always fun.

As Rachel got about getting the Runabout stabalised, Ensign Andrew Turner, got about the task of sending out a distress call and reversing the polarity of the hull plating to expell what ever had hit them from the enemy construct.

Niles jumped to her feet as the Runabout was fired upon, this was the final straw, she qucikly called for Red Alert and the weapons to be charged. She glared at the construct in front of her, according to all scans it had no pilot, but it was clearly hostile, that left her with few options. She turned to tactical and spoke two words.

"Destroy it"

Two beams of light travelled along the dorsal Phaser array, meeting at the correct angle and firing a Phaser Beam at the enemy construct. The Type-X phaser was one of the most powerful avaliable in the Federation, designed for ship to ship combat with enemy warships, this construct would have no chance.

Planet 1983998

34952 got two separate transmissions at around the same time. One via satellite from their orbital eyes and another, which bore the distinctions of a distress call and was coming from the shallow desert.

A quick perusal of the first would tell her all she needed to know about that particular endeavor. She again informed her superiors, and a few ships were manned for capture of the little thing. She expected little difficulty.

Shallow space

The reptile had succeeded in securing the little one, at least for now. But quickly his attention was drawn to the massive explosion around the Federation ship. Clearly they had decided to fire on the EXOmatter drone, never a good idea but perhaps unavoidable. Using the temporary silent inferno as a diversion he maneuvered his ship closer to the vessel to see whether additional attacks would be necessary, or whether the hellfire had decimated the ship on its own.

Planet 1983998
Over the horizon rose four pitch black fighters, not much larger than the shuttle itself but with an array of weaponry sufficient to bring the thing down. All of them locked weapons that looked quite convincingly like gyroscopes on the shuttle and hesitated not before firing on it. The rounds resembled the snakelike constructs but were a bit better designed to work in an atmosphere. The shuttle would not have an easy place to flee.

The Twenty-three metre long Runabout, under the versitle fingers of Adney, moved away from it's attackers and began evasive mauvours. As it was fired upon, it's shields flared as it protected the vessel from the enemy weapons. As they came within range, the shuttle fired. It's aft Phaser bank fired at each of the enemy fighters in turn before starting over again. Adney kept the Runabout heading for obit, the Runabout would have a much better time in space.

"You reckon we should try and talk them out of it?" Turner asked.

"Yea why not" Adney replied waiting "Well..."

"You do it"

"Fine" Adney muttered as she got onto the communciations "Unidentified fighters, this is the Federation Runabout Amazon, you have declared war on the United Federation of Planets, cease your attack immediatly"

The fighters proved quite maneuverable and three were able to avoid the phaser shots entirely. However, the fourth one was not so lucky and careened to the ground in a shower of flames and wreckage. The remaining ships continued pressing their fire, confident that the enemy's shields would give out in time.

Upon receiving the transmission a simplistic reply was sent back.

_as trespassers into lewan territory, you are the ones at fault. your actions have lost you the respect of the empire and you are viewed as enemies. our assault will not cease until you are destroyed._

How's the damage to the Venture's shield systems looking? The explosion was perhaps the equivalent of forty kg of TNT.

Rachel scowled and threw the Runabout into a upwards corkscrew as they continued to fire at the enemy, the shields continueing to buzz under the enemies weapons as they continued to climb upwards, they had to get into orbit if they were going to jump to warp, ideally without the enemy after them. Chances were they were going to run into an enemy warship in orbit, which was unfortunate, the Runanbout was capable of defending itself from a handful of enemy fighters, but not a fully-fledged warship, not alone anyway. Rachel sighed as she listened to the responce and opened the comms again.

The Venture's shields barely flared under the comparativly small explosion, the Venture's shields were rated to stand up to hundreds of blasts much larger than that, so the explosion was largely irrelevent. With that enemy construct destroyed, the Venture moved onto the inenviable task of scanning the nearby area for further enemy ships. If they had a cloaking device, the enemy would have to remain inside this area of open space, otherwise even a cloaked shipw ould have to part the gases, unless they had a Phase cloak, which was unlikely as that was Federation Technology.

Realizing that, in fact, the shuttle's shielding systems were far better than to be worn out in the amount of time they had, the fighters switched tactics. Rather than firing the missiles at the ship directly they instead set the weapons on wormhole courses to attach to the side of the craft as they did previously. The effect was very much the same unless the shuttle had figured out a way to stop it.

If not, the ship was set to end up ten miles below the surface of the rock.

No return transmission was sent.

The reptile was quite disappointed at the lack of damage to the enemy craft, audibly sighing with rage at the shield systems. Perhaps if he could still the craft somehow... But that would be quite a difficult task to accomplish. So he would decide to sacrifice his brethren for the cause.

The view would show him releasing the quartz doors and awakening them, still in eerie silence, as they knew what was going on. Striding with the air of a martyr to their respective ships, again the reptile opened up a section of the ship.

The craft that flew out were tiny, expendable, and indeed rusting with age and disuse. However they had one surprise waiting for the Venture, one perhaps sufficient to win them the vessel.

The ships, still cloaked, evaporated out of existence to reappear within the vessel itself, probably crashing into something but not caring. At this point the weapons onboard ate through the hull of the ship and began dissolving the Venture's interior in a swarm of metal shards and a hum of movement. The reptiles piloting the craft were dying because of inhaling useless gases and lack of hydrogen, but the swarm seemed unaffected.

Two seconds after the Foreign devices came aboard the Venture, the ship went onto counter-intruder protocals. The Intruder alarm was sounded, and any sections where the intruders were detected were sealed off with forcefields. Since the early days of force field technology they had been inserted into the bulkheads and deckplatings, effectivly sealing of any area and anything inside it. Security personnel armed themselves and after reviewing the sensor data set their weaponto level sixteen; powerful enough to vaporise humanoids and most materials that weren't Starship hull grade or above.

On the bridge, the sensors had picked up something very interesting. Strange rust particles seemingly centred around an empty area of space. Peterson frowned and checked them when compared to the intruders, noted that they were rusting.

"Sir, enemey contact bearing two-two-niner, mark one-one-eight" Peterson reported "Cloaked"

"Full spread of Quantum torpedo's, destroy the bastards" Niles ordered.

From the main torpedo launcher on the neck of the ship, eight bright-blue torpedo's were launched and sped across the darkness of space towards their target.

The shields of the Runabout had been sent onto the same setting as those currently used on the Venture, they hugged onto the hull, preventing the enemy weapons from affecting them as they breached the atmosphere into space and prepard for warp drive. Rachel got onto the long-range communications system, encrypted a message and sent iit.

The reptile saw the missiles and, reacting as quickly as possible, launched back eight of the ship's own torpedoes. Although the effect on another missile would not be to destroy it. Upon hitting the enemy torpedoes they flashed and imploded into nothingness, appearing again inside one of the Venture's two engines along with the reptile's, the combined force surely sufficient to destroy a medium-sized moon. The engine stood not a chance.

The fighters were beginning to grow desperate. One final attack was launched at the fleeing shuttle; the serpents were set to appear not on the ship but in it. Such a small craft would not likely be able to cordon itself off, especially with six or seven of the things scattered around it.

After an encounter with the species known as the Sokar, who had sufficient technology to take control of enemy munitions, Starfleet had instutied a new safety feature to their weapons. They would not detonate if they were within a set range of their own Starship. So inside their own engine, they were not going to explode, they were simply vaporised by the superheated plasma that was present inside the impulse reactor, the same was true of the enemy missiles, seemingly the enemy was not sufficently capable of scanning their targets, after all, the Quantum Torpedo required .2 of a second to detonate, short enough to detonate when it hit it's target, but long enough for the impulse plasma to vaporise the munitions. The port side impulse engine was natuarlly put out of commission by the sudden introduction of Dark matter into it's engines, but the other two engines took over. With torpedo's proving ineffective, the Venture almost immediatly fired with Phasers, a full barrage.

"Ok we're clear!" Rachel shouted.

"Good, warp core on-line" Turner reported "Enemy firing!"

"Warp speed now!"

The small runabout jumped away to warp, just before the enemy munitions reached their previous position.

Tava
Melyna sat in her chambers feeling quite dejected. It was likely she would be impeached soon because of her promise with Omenuetilin. And on Tava, impeached was just a euphemism for assassinated. However the god had given her one thing in return for her life, and for it she was willing to end her term without a struggle.

She was handling a medium-sized knife intently when she got a hail on the disk on her wrist. Setting the instrument down, she looked it over, and was filled not with anguish but with renewed hope for her usefulness as a Hegemon. She stalked to the military division with a fury, pushing aside a protesting Utaiyek and taking her spot in front of the pilots, assembled for their daily briefing. She announced to the lot of them, _eko di unon. ulipana idi wheiva._

Soon the race's dear leader was personally on her way to boost some relations and kick some lewan ass in the process.

A millisecond after the ship's engine shut down due to the dark matter, it exploded in a fury of twisted metal, due entirely to the lewan missiles trapped inside.

The lewan gunship easily dodged the phaser fire by hop, skip, and jumping around, exercising the wormhole key liberally. However upon coming out of the third one it was blindsided by a barrage of HELC fire from the opposite direction. The hull was breached and immediately locked off, but the damage had been done. The ship's wormhole key had been hit and detonated, rendering the ship a sitting duck.

Here a bright red craft soared through the wormhole, followed by a massive fleet of various warships of varying sizes. Not a one intervened, however, when the bright red craft, a prototype Curus, raked the ship with UHELC fire enough to burn out all the cryo units and finally blasted out the cockpit.

All of this happened in perhaps four seconds.

The red ship powered its weapon systems down and hailed the Venture.

"Someone find me away to hit that ship!" Niles ordered, this being her way of instructing the Science and Tactical departments to try and find away to predict where the enemies wormhole would emerge, if they could do that, they would be able to level the offensive field. THe Venture could defend itself from enemy attack, but all indications where that their weapons were having difficulty in making contact with the enemy "Damage report!"

"The port Impulse engine is gone!" Peterson reported "The Starboard and centre engines are compensating"

"Sir, another ship just sideswiped the enemy, more enemy ships!" The Tactical officer reported urgently.

"Oh shit, it's time we got out of dodge, lock a tractor beam on the Venture and get us out of here" Niles ordered.

"No need sir, the Venture is moving into a supporting position, Commander Naros ask's us where we want him" Peterson reported.

"Ok, have them follow us, move them away from the enemy ships" Niles ordered.

"They're hailing"

"I want us outside the Nebula and able to go to warp before we stop to chat" Niles ordered as the two Federation starships disappeared into the gases.

The red ship shot something at the heavily damaged warship, which latched on to the hull and stayed there. The craft then activated its sublight engines and followed the ship out of the nebula, silently pushing the various gases away and pulling the warship behind itself. The relatively small fleet followed.

Planet 1983998

The lewan high general, 00001, began to worry after another minute without a transmission. Rightly so, because about that time it was reported that it had been destroyed, and by crescan craft by the looks of it. He ordered a double standard fleet readied and began preparing his own ship for combat.

The filthy primitives would not last another minute.

At about the time that the edge of the nebula was approaching, a good portion of the lewan fleet reared their ugly heads. A group of forty warships along with the general's gunship launched themselves out of their respective wormholes and opened fire on the crescan fleet.

Thus began the elegant dance that was tavan combat, with neither side seeming to claim the upper hand for now.

Apparently not aware of the sophisticated shield systems that the Venture boasted, or perhaps with the knowledge that the shields would not defend against the weapon, it could be seen that a crescan ship would occasionally throw itself in the way of a DF directed at the Venture.

The edge of the nebula was so close as to be within range of the naked eye.

"They appear to be covering our exit" Peterson reported.

"Ok, let's assume their being our friends today, find enemy ships and open fire, lets keep our end up" Niles ordered as the ship began to exit the nebula's gases, almost immediatly an encrypted message was sent to Starfleet command as the ship prepared for Warp speed. The problem was the first venture it was having a few difficulties forming it's warp field and ensuring that it didn't explode on activation.

"Open a channel to the nice ships" Niles ordered.

"Aye sir" Peterson grinned at his Captains wording.

"Unidentified ships, this is the Federation Starship Venture, please state your intentions; Friend or foe"

The Venture received the message and quickly got about the task of attracting enemy attention towards itself, firing off lots of phaser beams, undoubtibly causing a lot of problems for the enemy. They then waited to watch.

OOC: Sorry for short post. Have to go out, be back shortly.

The enemy ships immediately swarmed upon the Venture as soon as the crescans were out of the way. They were, of course, no strangers to the disruptor field and kept well away from one another when attacking, although none succeeded due to the insane amounts of phaser blasts being sent out.

Then, the bottom section of the bright red ship opened up, revealing similar gyroscope-like equipment as to what was on the warship. It fired something at the closest enemy ship, which was moving too fast to be seen but left a trail of bright white behind it. Upon reaching the enemy craft, the line intensified for a brief fraction of a second, during which time the lewan fleet was completely decimated, blown to shreds and backwards at insane speeds. The crescan fleet, too, flew backwards with the recoil of the weapon, and the Venture's shields all appeared to be temporarily forced into concentration at the far side of the ship as a result of the weapon's firing.

However it didn't matter, as this weapon had singlehandedly destroyed the lewan forces, leaving oddly smooth pieces of floating metal where a fleet once was. The crescan fleet regrouped and rehailed the Venture:

Niles Nebula
28th November 2386

With the battle over the two federation starships settled into the a formation beside each other, quickly assessing their own damage and getting started on repair efforts. Backgrounded against the Nebula it was a classic Starfleet picture, save for the small fleet of ships that was off towards the left of the picture. The smaller Venture stuck close to it's bigger brother, keeping safe under the large saucer section of it's protector.

A small flash of light announced the arrival of the Runabout which quickly docked with the starship and it's two ensign crew quickly reported to the bridge and told Captain Niles of their plight. She thanked them both and gave them a few hours off. Niles then turned to the communications system to return the hail.

"We're on a Exploratory mission to chart the Nebula, before we came across this federation starship, and have salavaged it"
