Galaxy-Class Starship
Sector 2421-Alpha

The regal form of the majestic Federation Starship slipped slowly through an emission Nebula. The majority of the crew who weren't working, and some who were meant to be, were stood at the viewports watching the natural beauty that was all around them. The starship had been charting this nebula for only a few hours and the novelty of a new nebula hadn't worn off on the crew yet. The Starship; Venture, moved through the open space they had travelled through before moving back into the gases of the Nebula, it's navigational deflector discreetly diverting the gases away from the ship, creating the illusion that the ship was travelling through a corridor of open space. Sensors scans were sweeping back and forth across the local area as the crew got about the task of cataloguing the nebula. The ships Executive Officer; Commander Tolian Naros, was moving through the ship and rousting those gawking at the gases outside and back to work, Captain Niles after all wasn't a fool.
After completing his rounds, Naros returned to the bridge and sat down in the Executive officers chair and listened into the conversation that was going on.
"So does it have a name yet?" Lieutenant Commander Tesla Nouvon, the ships Betazoid security officer asked from her station "We can't just keep calling it 'The Nebula'"
"Not that we know of" Captain Kate Niles replied "Check the database for all Federation Planets"
"None" Lieutenant Nathan Peterson, Science Officer responded "It's tradition to call it after the discoverer"
"Venture Nebula, that's really got a ring to it" Niles grinned.
"Indeed" Peterson replied "However, our predecessor already named one that"
"What then?" Niles asked.
"Niles Nebula?" Naros suggested.
"Sounds a bit pretentious to name it after myself" Niles commented.
"We'll name it after you then Ma'am" Peterson grinned.
The bridge crew all smiled as they entered this new designation into the main computer as the ship began to enter into another area, much larger this time, of open space. The happy atmosphere on the bridge was broken by the sudden beeping from the rear of the bridge and the tactical console.
"Contact ahead!" Tesla reported urgently.
"Can you identify?" Niles asked as she leant forward.
"Duranium signature" Tesla replied "Tritanium traces as well"
"Interesting" Niles commented thoughtfully.
"Entering visual range" Tesla reported as she brought up the image on the view screen. Upon magnification the unmistakable shape of a Federation Starship was visible.
"A federation ship?" Niles asked, excited as she stood and walked a few steps forward to look better at the ship on the screen.
"Ambassador Class" Tesla confirmed "NCC-1756, USS...Venture"

Six towers of shimmering light heralded the arrival of six Starfleet officers on the old Starfleet vessel. The bridge of the old Venture was dark, a result of being sat there for nearly two decades. As they materialized the six officers activated the lights that were attached, just above the advanced sights of their Phaser Rifles. The team quickly swept across the bridge and the handful of other rooms that made up deck one, just in time for the emergency lights to flicker on, and the early LCARs screens to activate, albeit weakly.
Engineering to Bridge, emergency power restored, give me twenty minutes to restart the Warp core and restore main power, then we can work on getting her moving again
Commander Naros smiled at the brief and blunt report from their Tellerite chief engineer who had beamed aboard to get the ship up and running. Indeed restarting the Matter-Antimatter reaction was the easy part, the hard part was channeling the superheated drive plasma to the Nacelles were they would generate the warp field, after all the conduits hadn't been used in years. As expected, the ship was in a state, although all the escape pods had been launched, and no bodies had been found anywhere, indicating that the crew had made if off the ship. This added a new job to the Venture's tasking orders, once both ships were up and running they would have to explore the nearby area for planets where the crew could have landed, or been taken. All in all, the Venture had stumbled upon quite a task.
