Three trucks entered a small village, the sign on the road listing in the mud, the text "Artevka" still legible. A handful of the soldiers dismounted, repositioning the sign so it could properly be read. In forty minutes, there would be no Artevka, reports than an Olvanian Force had crossed the border and were actively moving to the village. Soon, Artevka would be set upon by a force that vastly outnumbered the population. Thirty versus a thousand was hardly an even fight, but thirty was all that could be spared. A single order had been given to the men, "Resist and Bite", by the time the force had arrived, caravans of civilians had begun their exodus from the village. In the distance the sight of smoke filled the air, crops that the village formerly farmed for winter were now ablaze. Whether it was the skirmishing force or intentional sabotage from civilians wasn't the force's call, all that mattered was launching a defensive operation for Artevka. It'd be some time before proper forces arrived, and by that time likely the force would have fallen. At least the men would die a Martyr's death, a glory to the Saints that'd spare them in death. Outside the hastily constructed trenches, a grim notice of how the next war would be fought. Anti-tank mines were placed across the village, barbed wire, and all manner of traps, while they may fall today, they'll stall the aggressive posturing of Olvania, and possibly convince Cepvinian officials allying with Olvania was a mistake. Using the mud to their advantage, allowing them to ensure that the force would have to enter the village, and pass through their defenses if they wanted to keep the pace of this skirmish. ARA.9s passed by, flying to yet unseen locations, possibly on interception missions, or in recon, none of the soldiers knew, nor could they waste valuable time trying to figure it out.

When the word spread that they had entered the outskirts of Artevka, likely a small number of armored vehicles passed over landmine traps. Forced to bunch up, the Astovians have gotten the Olvanians on the exact same route they had wanted. Now the waiting game began, with Olvanian tanks slowly passing by more mines, how long until they pass on one accidentally? The Astovians could not risk taking fire until they were right on them, giving them the surprise jump on the force. Infantry began to fan out, searching homes and sheds, looking for Astovian forces.

After decades of Oppresion and Aresst, The Katinean Parliament passed resolution #14557A, A Resolution that Finally Legalises Same-Sex Marriage, and allows Homosexuals to join the Defence Forces, although they still can't join Combat Units. It also recongises Transgender People as Legitimate, Non-Mentally Ill, People, although the Government will not pay for Gender-Affirming Treatment, and because of that, Transgendee people are still barred from the Defence Forces.

One Last Stand

The dead and wounded sat scattered across the small field that lead into the Astovian Positions. Thirty men had repelled a thousand, smart planning and the weather on their side. There was no doubt that this would be the last wave, the small anti-tank gun the Astovian's only chance. Slowly it was wheeled down the main street of the village, the two men pushing it trying to keep it out of the mud. The ammo was carried by other soldiers in order to keep the strain of the work off of the two soldiers. "Five tanks! Coming up North East! Infantry behind them!" Called the spotter, yelling loud enough for the soldiers outside the barn he had set up in to hear. Quickly the soldiers finished pushing the gun forward, setting it in place as they loaded a round into it, "Clear! Target's 600 out! Fire at 300!" The tanks slowly approached, keeping strategic positions between eachother. "Firing!" The gunner yelled, sending a round flying at one of the tanks, hitting it near the driver's hatch as it stopped, the turret turning to face the direction it was shot from. "Loaded!" Before the loader could even finish, another round was sent flying, hitting the same tank again. "Loaded!" He called again, holding an extra round in his hand, watching the gunner turn the gun to target another tank, "Bastard isn't even aiming at us, blind rats." Another round was sent, ricocheting off the frontal armor, the gun turning to face even further from the anti-tank gun, the others starting to reverse as well, turrets aiming at an unseen target. Suddenly one blew up, the turret detonating into flames, the commander trying and failing to climb out. The men suddenly realized, dropping their guns as they cheered, watching a command BVR.12 send a 105 round into the side of another Olvanian tank, detonating the ammo and sending the turret flying. Three more BVRs were with them, firing at the other tanks, by the end of the minute, four wrecked Olvanian tanks sat in the same field that their men died, one BVR destroyed by retaliating fire. Only one Olvanian tank managed to escape, and likely a number of infantry along with it, the Astovians had won the day, but now they had to clean up the scattered bodies. They could expect another condemnation from the Cepvinians, but at this point, they had enough to build a house out of.

Osin had Barely finished his cigarette when the ARA.9 he was after touched down, leaning off of his car as he approached the edge of the runway, watching runway crewmen help the pilot get out of the plane. "Marlin!" Osin called out, the pilot looking up from the portable stairs that had been brought out, "Marlin, I'm here to have a little chat with you, it's some important information." The pilot looked up again, making his way to Osin as a runway assistant climbed into the plane to bring it back into the hangar. "How do you know my name?" Marlin asked, taking off his flight goggles, letting his flight mask dangle from a strap connected to his flight helmet. Do I get a little promotion to a nice office across from the King's Summer Home?" He pulled off his gloves, dropping it into his satchel as he reached his free hand out to Osin, "I'm glad to tell you that none of that will be what you get. You're a great pilot Marlin, why'd we take you out of your domain when you do so well?" Osin retorted, holding out a blueprint, it was a plane, the same as the standard ARA.9, until Marlin realized it had an extra two guns. "This is your idea?" He asked, glancing up from the document, rubbing his chin, the flight exhaustion clear from the look on his face. "It'll be painted red as well, but we couldn't exactly color the blueprint. I will be honest, it'd set you apart, but it'd also get the public behind you. Think about it Marlin, you can help the war effort in more ways than just flying, you can be a symbol of our country."

Marlin nodded, handing back the blueprint as he thought about the answer to his question, how in the world would he be a symbol? "Fine, I'll do it, on a condition." Osin nodded, grabbing a pen from his briefcase as he prepared to write his request down. "I want to remain at my rank, just because I'm a so-called Ace doesn't mean I should get any special privileges. I want to remain at my unit, I've trained with these guys, we're a team, hell I consider us a family." Osin nodded again, marking down his page with all he had asked of him, "I can see what I can do on this, you're a good man Marlin." This Cold War would experience its first proxy war in the form of the Second HazahmKongian Civil War, which not only ended thanks to efforts made by Daevan diplomats at the many peace talks, but also led to many ongoing events, including the ongoing Kunskil Crisis, which is a crisis that involved nations from the recent conflict in Ivartixi and a few diverse InterCOM nations in what some could refer to as yet another proxy conflict with the potential to set up as many future events as the Second HazahmKongian Civil War has. At around 10 PM, Europan Standard Time, Nova-Moskva ceased communications with the Coalition Navy Support Submarine, "Dawnbreaker", proceeding to allow a Dugong class submarine dock with the station. Upon Coalition attempts to stop the unknown Dugong, records from the Dawnbreaker's Black Box report a heavy hull collapse relating to the launch of a Railgun armed with Nuclear Munitions. At 10:12 PM, radio contact from the Dawnbreaker suggested that survivors had welded themselves in the aft of the submarine. Reports also suggested the nuclear reactor has taken damage and the crew was planning to weld themselves in the cafeteria, ballast, and living quarters, leaving necessary room for travel between them and life support equipment. At 10:15, a survivor from the Medical Bay, presumed to be Chief Medical Officer Wu reported in, alerting that all power had been lost and oxygen systems were offline. The CMO proceeded to alert that the Reactor Alarm was on before losing contact, presumably from Radioactive interference. At around 10:20~ PM all communication with the Dawnbreaker was lost, with all hands presumed lost. The unknown Dugong has yet to be identified, and is presumed to be under the control of Jovian Separatists. In immediate response, a force of three Coalition Rapid Response ships arrived, a Dugong, Typhoon, and Barsuk. Due to reactor troubles, the Barsuk diverted to attempt rescue at the Dawnbreaker. At 10:40 PM, the Barsuk reported they had located one survivor in the Living Quarters, but were unable to evacuate him due to the lack of pressure in the hallway. Said survivor claimed to be Gunnery Assistant James Bradley, having taken refuge along with multiple wounded, which had all perished from their wounds. At 10:45, the Dawnbreaker's Black Box was recovered and brought aboard the Barsuk, rescue operations for Bradley are still ongoing at this time. 10:57 PM, a spare diving suit within the Dawnbreaker is located, attempts are made to repressure the hallway to minimal success. 11:23, after nearly an hour of rescue attempts, pressure is restored in the hallway, where until 11:42 the rescue team and Bradley remain, presumably to give the ship a "proper burial". At 11:47, the rescue team and Bradley are brought aboard the Barsuk, returning to Victor Station.

By 10:45, while rescue attempts were still underway, the Dugong and Typhoon continued attempts to hail Nova-Moskva to no avail. By the time they had arrived, the Dugong that had fired had left, leaving the force uncontested. At 10:56, the Coalition Dugong, carrying a Rapid Insertion Fireteam attempted to forcefully dock with the station. In response, the entrance to the outpost was suddenly depressurized, killing four of the six of the Fireteam. The remaining two, still within the Dugong alert the helm to undock, water is roughly at waist height. The Dugong withdraws, sinking about 40 meters before water is drained. At maximum, water reached to the Operatives necks, water entered so fast majority of the crew reported not hearing the sounds until alerted by the survivors. Tensions continue to escalate in Frijheid

At a protest in Frijheid Square, earlier in the week, military forces clamped down on demonstrations and killed an estimated 135 protestors, injuring dozens more. Nearly 300 are believed to be missing, whilst another 100 were detained by riot police at the scene.

This brutal clash between police and protesters is just one of the hundreds of incidents over the last few weeks, resulting in around 5,000 deaths according to estimations by the government research group, who have hailed the protests ‘illegal and rightfully suppressed’, much to the anger of anti government activists, who now number in the ten thousands.

Whilst protests have been reported all over British Arzelentaxmacone, no areas have been worse targeted and affected than Frijheid and Arz, but more in the former than the latter.
