The King's Address
There was much buzz in the city of Relyah and throughout Arkdunham after a recent radio address by the King. Dr. Nyar Lathotep, Lord of Castle Lathotep, Count of Dracule and Saint-Germain, Duke of Relyeh, High Priest of the Esoteric Order of Dagon, the beloved King of Arkdunham, gave a radio address to announce the opening of the borders. After long consideration, and numerous councils held with his advisers, movement of personnel and goods into and out of the country will hereafter be legalised. It is further hoped that Arkdunham may be thrust onto the world stage. The process of joining the World Assembly has been undertaken, and the King hopes to meet with foreign leaders soon to negotiate trade agreements and alliances. Water Source Controversy Solved: A recent controversy involving additives to the Relyeh City water supply was addressed by city overseers today. Recent reports that psychedelic drugs were being added to the water supply in order to make the population more amenable to being controlled were dismissed by the officials, who noted that the chemicals being added were harmless fluoride. Although no actual evidence was presented by the officials, it is known that the city overseers only have our best interests at heart, and thus would not lie to us.
Arts in Focus: The Portraiture of Richie Pikeman: Richie Pikeman has exploded onto the Relyeh art scene with his fantastically detailed portraits. We got an interview with the elusive artist, who said that he draws inspiration from "dreams of horrors unimaginable," going on to say "I know now there is no God. There are only the Old Ones. Hail Dagon. Death itself cannot safe you from the torment unimaginable."
In the Sciences: New Discoveries in Miskatonic University: Professor Laurence Danforth, who holds a tenured position in the school of mathematics in Miskatonic University, has recently published a paper on the nature of Euclidean Geometry. One reviewer says it challenges everything we know about reality itself. An archeology graduate student in the same university has challenged the integrity of the claims, saying ruins deep below Arkdunham display non-Euclidean traits, and the work is nothing more than a plagiarism of the work they are doing there. When asked to describe these ruins, the student said they are cyclopian in nature, and beyond our comprehension.

Cardinal Cirilli dead at 102

CITY OF SAN MARCELLA, 12/4/16 — The oldest member of the College of Cardinals, Senesio Cirilli, has died at the age of 102. The Papal Apartment announced the death this morning, noting that the former Cardinal died peacefully in his sleep. Supreme Pontiff Vitalian II made him the world’s oldest living Cardinal in 2014 when he elevated him to the College of Cardinals at the age of 100.

Cardinal Cirilli served under five Supreme Pontiffs, most notably Abel XXIII in 1970, which brought San Marcella into the modern age. He was born in the Marcellianese settlement of Ventosa in 1914, and entered the priesthood in 1945. Cirilli's death leaves the College of Cardinals with 200 members, 114 of whom are under the age of 80 and therefore eligible to vote in a conclave.

King Nyar to meet with foreign leaders in Ilmenic dinner party

In a historic move, King Nyar Lathotep will meet with a number of leaders from around the world at a casual meeting in the medieval Ilmenic fortress of Krihikon. Leaders from places such as the Nickel Empire, the Wea Nation, Vernicht, Roelandia, and Petrokovia are expected to make appearances. Also travelling is Countess Elizabeth. This is an excellent opportunity for the king and his adviser for foreign affairs to make connections with other nations, opening p opportunities for international co-operation.

Self porclaimed rebel to recant statements following capture: Rebel leader Randolph Harker was captured several months ago. Following interrogation, he has agreed to recant anti-government statements made by him. We had the opportunity to interview him yesterday afternoon. When asked why he chose to do this, he replied "Glory to Arkdunham." We discussed what it ws his rebel organisation stood for, to which he responded "Glory to Arkdunham," in the same tone, with glassy eyes. We further asked his plans for the future, to which he responded "Glory to Arkdunham." A tear rolled down his eye, although his expression remained unchanged. At this point, he was visibly shaking, and had to be wheeled away by one of the orderlies. Mr Harker is currently being held in the Relyeh Institute for Re-Education, and is scheduled to be released sometime next month.
Arts in Focus: Radio Review: Popular radio programme, "Ph'nglui mglw'nafh Cthulhu R'lyeh wgah'nagl fhtagn," has been a hit among people from all around Arkdunham for years. In this article, we review the most recent episode, "Yog-Sothoth." The spisode begins with a high-pitch squealing, lasting about sixteen minutes. Following this was a number of sermons to Dagon, played in reverse. Overlaying this was a recording of an animal of some sort being butchered, played louder with each repetition. This was followed shortly by seven minutes of screaming. The episode finished with the line "Yog-Sothoth knows the gate. Yog-Sothoth is the gate. Yog-Sothoth is the key and guardian of the gate. Past, present, future, all are one in Yog-Sothoth. He knows where the Old Ones broke through of old, and where They shall break through again. He knows where They have trod earth's fields, and where They still tread them, and why no one can behold Them as They tread." Truly this was one of the programme's greatest episodes.
In the Sciences: Miskatonic University to sponsor trip to Antarctica: Relyeh's Miskatonic University has announced that it will be sponsoring a research voyage deep into Antarctica, perhaps going as far as the south pole, with the aim of establishing a research station, and investigating claims of mountains locked deep below the ice of. Researches hope that investigation here will lead to clues about the primordial stages of earth's history. Indeed, radical theorists claim that this expedition will redefine, "not just the field of geography, but also the field of anthropology. It will challenge everything modern science knows about the evolution of mankind and civilisation"

Today, the nation is shocked to it's very core! Yesterday morning, a police raid conducted on a building in the north of Vólkermarkt uncovered a gruesome scene that resulted in a prolonged gunfight with the occupants of the compound and the capture of a prominent member of the Teiwazi faith - High Zealot Philip Kronenberg.

Police officers investigating a series of disappearances and a possible human trafficking ring were drawn to a former ArcLicht industrial warehouse, and militarized elements breached the scene early yesterday morning. Police discovered several pockets of bodies in the building, all of which were horribly mutilated with what looked to be ceremonial blades. Some of the corpses seemed to be in stages of 'preparation', with the skin flayed open and several bones, organs, and muscles removed.

Police then encountered heavily armed criminals in another area of the building, who opened fire on the tactical teams and killed several of the officers. A drawn out firefight ensued, with further casualties inflicted upon the police before the criminals could be apprehended or killed. Now, with the current police forces reinforced with a helicopter and several armoured vehicles, the authorities began a through search of the building, finally catching the High Zealot as he tried to escape in a secret tunnel which had been built into the floor. Officers are calling this the 'bloodiest day we've had since the fall of ArcLicht'.

When questioned about the murders, Kronenberg could only reply with:

The apostates had to be punished; for the glory of Teiwaz!

The Honourable Monarch of Vernicht, King Viktor, has ordered that Kronenberg will receive a full trial for his crimes, to the dismay of many who wish him to be quickly and publicly executed for his brutality. However, there has been swift and calculated comment from the Teiwazi Faith - the Supreme Zealot herself appeared to the public to condemn the actions of High Zealot Kronenberg.

Of course I do not support this kind of action. How could I? Kronenberg has murdered at least 32 people, with bodies still being pulled from the walls of that factory and his own home. He, and his band of followers, will face heavy handed justice - as they should. However, I do not think people should take this unfortunate incident as something that we of the true Faith preach regularly. It is simply the quiet case of a highly unstable man that used our lord to justify his cold pleasures. He has been excommunicated fully from the Faith, and I suggest he be sacrificed - dishonourably - to Teiwaz for his crimes. It seems a fitting death, for such a terrible man.

Philip Kronenberg and three others face the death penalty if convicted of their crimes, which is a nigh certainty with the amount of evidence connecting them to these crimes. It is unclear whether the government will allow the Faith to take the execution into their own hands.

A new flag?

Today president Mart Linna raised the issue of the possible adoption of a new flag now that the country has become independent. Four options were presented to the national assembly

1. A nordic cross flag retaining the same colors as the current flag


2. A nordic cross flag depicting the colors of the medieval Karellian kingdom


3. An unconvential flag combining the colors of both nordic cross flags.


4. Retaining the current flag adopted during the accession to the USSP


After several hours of debating an option was chosen but after ratifying the second chamber (soviet congress) rejected it almost unanomously and sent the proposal back to the national assembly. The reason for the rejection was the conviction that something as important as a potential new flag, a national symbol, should be decided by the people and not a political minority.
The government was receptive to this plea and the proposal for the referendum was passed in the national assembly this evening.

Onorussian Astronaut Makes First Flight

It was early yesterday morning when Onorussian Astronaut and Test Pilot Major Jacob Spindler began his first flight in outer space, this coming after years of being told by the SSR and other COG members that Onorus would never have the resources to embark into the cosmos. Ironically, it was accomplished by recycling abandoned Soviet ICBM components as well as constructing new parts in Onorus. Onorussian Stellar Command, the agency responsible for the flight, says that that this is only the beginning.

"We aren't going to stop at just orbiting our world a couple times. There is a lot more the Soviets said we would never be able to do, this is our moment to show them just how wrong they were!" Declared General Anton Velchin in an interview with the press, already OSC has announced a joint research project with Former COG member and current trading partner The Estovakian Union. The project is set to begin work in the new year and will endeavor to test the viability of a possible moon landing. For now though, Jacob Spindler and his capsule will continue to orbit the planet for another twelve hours. The Capsule, named 'Sogno de Volare', is designed for an extended flight in orbit and will land in the Onorussian sea.

"It's all so very small from up here. Kind of puts everything into perspective." Spindler commented over the radio, the People of Onorus wait with baited breath for his safe return to the surly bonds of Earth.

Wicked Tourist Captured!

Today, an evil tourist was arrested for breaking a sacred holy rule; taking pictures of Urchinopian citizens. As you know, taking pictures of oneself captures your soul and forever keeps you from uniting with the ALMIGHTY URCHIN (blessed are HIS eternal spines). This man - whose deed is so disturbing that he will not be addressed by name nor country he is from - has been chained in the capital square where our holy citizens may spit on him and feed him scraps. There he will starve until the Magistrate decides what his sentence will be (likely death in which a rock will be chained to his feet and cast into the sea where he may drown, as per usual execution sentence).

We have destroyed the camera which he used. By doing so we have freed the victims' souls which were captured and only hope that they make it back to the bodies which they once dwelled.

Unknown Satellite Interruption in Neutral Waters now Disclosed to be due to Inprobus Empire

Earlier this week, many nations experienced a temporary miscommunication with various satellites scanning the oceans. It was unknown as to why this was until General Wilhelm Speares, the infamous but legendary tactician, apparently also in charge of conducting these "tests", gave a statement on Tuesday;

"Just a run of the mill nuclear test that was conducted under water. We were just seeing the approximate explosive yield of a new composite warhead. Nothing to be concerned about."

No explanation was given as to why this test was conducted in international waters or in the ocean at all for that matter and will almost certainly never be answered seriously by the Inprobusian government.

DISASTER IN SPACE!

Breaking news from the Onorussian Space Agency, an accident aboard has been reported aboard the Onorussian Orbiting Spacecraft. The orbiter had originally been scheduled to return to Earth a day after its launch, but stormy seas and weather in the recovery zone lead to its reentry being put off for several more days. This was planned for in the original flight plan, with extra food, water, and air recirculation tanks being included in the cockpit. What had been unplanned for was the undisclosed nuclear test by the Inprobus Empire, which disrupted communications with Onorussian Ground Control and shorted out numerous systems on the spacecraft. Oxygen is reportedly falling to dangerously low levels while Carbon Dioxide is on the rise. Perhaps most devastating was the damage done to the orbiter's control and reentry engines. Major Spindler, the pilot of the craft, has managed to re-establish contact with Onorussian Control.

"The control panels shorted out while I was running a test of the atmosphere, I could see oxygen venting out of the port side of the capsule. Very scary stuff." Spindler reported, that was the only comment he could give, as he is currently conserving his oxygen. Space officials from the Estovakian Union have said there is a chance to get Major Spindler home safely, though it is more than likely he will have to splash down in Estovakian waters rather than Onorussian seas. The Imperator has yet to make a comment about the cause of the incident, but reports from the Imperial Mansion paint him as 'Viscerally angry'. More news to come as the story progresses.

Musawe refuses ceasefire negotiations, vows to crush rebels

Any hope for a temporary ceasefire in the Ganeban civil war has vanished, as attempted negotiations, mediated by Roelandia, broke down between the government and the rebels. Musawe Nkosi, the infamous dictator of Ganeba, has since vowed to crush the rebels, whom he regards as little more than terrorists. In a speech conducted from his palace in the capital of Esinkulu, Musawe blamed the rebels for inciting unrest and conspiring with foreign nations to overthrow the legitimate government of Ganeba. Claiming that they had been uncooperative and openly hostile when approached by government representatives seeking to negotiate, Musawe also pinned part of the blame on Roelandian mediators:

"Given our status as a former colony of Roelandia, it is within our interests to maintain a mutually beneficial relationship with a nation whom we have important economic ties to. As the leader of the Ganeban people, it is also within our people's interests to continue a friendly policy towards Roelandia. However, we cannot control the policies and attitudes of a foreign nation. The Roelandian government must make a decision on the kind of diplomatic relationship they will have towards Ganeba. When their representatives, their diplomats, and their officials came to mediate a temporary truce, they did so with arrogance and contempt...I do not believe the Roelandian government is genuine in their attempts to broker a ceasefire."

Musawe also denied claims that he used chemical weapons on rebels and civilians, saying that the Ganeban government had explicitly took steps to protect civilians from government attacks on rebel positions and that government forces were ordered to avoid areas with high civilian populations. "I am an ally of the Ganeban people," He confidently declared, "To deliberately kill innocent civilians would be against my morals, my values, and my ideals."

He continued to liken the rebels to terrorists, stating that they were responsible for the thousands of deaths and losses, along with the widespread devastation that has resulted from the civil war. In addition, he claimed that the rebels were waging two wars - one against the legitimate government, and another against the Ganeban people. "The rebel's very cause - to overthrow the rightful and just government of Ganeba - goes against the ideals of our nation. They threaten the unity, peace, and prosperity of the Ganeban people."

Musawe said that the military, officially known as the Revolutionary Ganeban Armed Forces, would continue to fight the rebels by any means necessary. "We have made significant progress in the last few months, due to the sacrifices of our soldiers." He ended the interview with a stern warning to his people. "While we will ultimately achieve victory, I would urge our civilians, and our brave men fighting on the frontlines, to remain cautious. The rebel terrorists should not be taken lightly."

Referendum over, flag chosen

In last nights referendum the nordic flag with current colors was chosen over the three other options.
Criticism is arising from the Petrokovian minority still living in the country.
Ever since the indepence of the country they say they have felt increasingly alienated.
A spokesman has come forward since the conclusion of the referendum.
Andrei Glukhov, a doctor by trade has spoken up against the referendum and sees it as a form of tyranny by the majority. He stated "the flag we are about to do away with is a significant piece of culture of not only my people but of the majority of Finno-Karellians living in this country as well. To do away with it like it's an old cloth is just wrong. It symbolizes the unity and great friendship our two demographics have enjoined these past 50 or so years. If this is kind of politics are going to shape the future of this nation than I demand formal representation for the Petrokovians of Greater Karellia."

President Mart Linna said that the referendum is binding and that he will implement the flag change despite the protest he stated that "the people have decided" and that there is no way back on the flag issue. He was however sympathetic to some kind of formal representation for what is a significant minority in the country and promised to take it up with his ministers as soon as possible.

Empire says Onorussian Space Agency's problems "unfortunate"
After the Onorussian Space Agency announced technical problems with their new ship in orbit due to the unannounced nuclear tests in international waters, General Speares, speaking on behalf of the Inprobus Empire, described the events are 'unfortunate'. He did not clarify any more than this other than that he hopes the nation can safely complete their new space flight unhindered "even if it is a bit odd that this is only their first space flight in their nation's history," he added.

Petrokovian Military to Conduct Christmastime Drills

It has been reported that several units of the Petrokovian Navy and Air Force will be participating on military drills during Christmas Day. The drills had been scheduled for earlier to test new radar and computer systems installed on several of the ships in the Red Gulf, but had been pushed up to Christmas due to weather concerns. Many have expressed frustration with the Petrokovian military officials, but when pressed on the matter of working on Christmas, officials said that the drills were short, involved a small number of people, and could be worked around the participants' schedules. The Premier has not commented on this, but some of his staff have commented, with mixed feelings. Some of the Cabinet are discontented with making military members work on Christmas, while others claim that it "comes with the job."

Premier to Attend Candlelight Ceremony

The Premier will be attending a candlelight ceremony later today at the Krasnograd Community Center. Such ceremonies are gatherings where the community can sing, dance, share stories, and eat on Christmas Eve. After the ceremony, he will be flying to his hometown of Werhaltensburg, North of Krasnograd, to spend time with his family.

President Linna proposes creation of official Petrokovian community

After criticism of "tyranny of the majority" by Karellians towards the Petrokovian minority living in the country president Linna has proposed the creation of an official Petrokovian community. It would be in charge of education and cultural activities for ethnic Petrokovians as well as have an official ellected council with a general ambassador as official leader.


Government mulls creation of self defence force

Since the indepenence from Petrokovia, Greater Karellia has been close to defenceless and this fact has raised concern, not only in the government but also in the hearts and minds of the people. The government wants to adress this as soon as possible. Due to budgetary constraints however, the defence force will merely be a small volenteer force but the government does intend to equip them with decent equipment and has therefore reached out to several companies across the globe to review their inventory. Signing up for the new volenteer force will be possible in a few weeks at local town halls.


Petrokovian community confused

The announcement of the creation of an official Petrokovian community has generally been recieved favourably by ethnic Petrokovians. Andrei Glukhov, the unofficial spokesman of the Petrokovians in Greater Karellia said it was a great inniative but expressed he was "confused" by the announcement of the creation of a self defence force at the same time the USSP conducts it's Christmass drills. He said the timing was terribly chosen. At the very least the government is giving up what he colled "mixed signals".

Petrokovian Military Officials Worried, Confused

The timing of the announcement by Greater Karelia comes at a strange time, having been announced almost directly after the announcement of the Christmas Drills. General of the Air Force Samson Kirov was questioned on it, and he had this to say:

"It is likely to be a coincidence, but we can not ignore the timing entirely. A part of me does fear it may have been strategic timing, to try to 'deter' any possible action on Petrokovia's end. What confuses me the most about this, if it were true, would be the response to the particular drills Petrokovia was running. They were conducted in the Red Gulf, off of Crimea, and were testing newer defense mechanisms. I'm not allowed to say the exact specifications or the extent to which they worked, but I can tell you they were testing long-range in-flight enemy missile detection and countermeasures for aircraft, and newer early warning and radar scrambling devices for ships, and I can tell you that they did work. The drills were conducted specifically to test these systems, and were conducted far away from Karelia."

In addition to those words, he stated that Petrokovia would not be able to take Karelia legally even by its own laws, as the 2016 Referendum on War that led to the 16th Amendment of the Petrokovian Constitution specifically disallows declaring war without a defensive casus belli (direct reason or threat to Petrokovian citizens, holdings, territory, etc.) or casus foederis (indirect reason or threat to Petrokovian citizens, holdings, territory, etc. or those of its allies).

Premier Returns from Family Visit, to Meet with Karelian Leadership

The Premier has recently returned from his trip to Werhaltensburg, Krasnochaya, and is scheduling a meeting with the leadership of Greater Karelia to discuss the transfer of Petrokovian and Karelian holdings, as well as the formal setting up of political ties, including trade policy and a possible military alliance.

Urchinopia Disappeared
Urchinopia was a small island in the Atlantic with a population of close to one million people. The nation has suddenly vanished. Satellite topography scans indicate only a seamount sits where an island once was. The entire island has been obliterated, it appears, with nations deploying ships to investigate this phenomenon.

These scientific ships could not approach within a 30 km radius of the explosion due to extremely high radiation. Unmanned vehicles designed to operate in high radiation were sent into this radius, but contact was lost only several minutes of operation. This indicates that radiation levels are even higher in this area than initially thought and further investigation into this region for at least several decades would be near suicidal. Ocean samples yielded traces of DDT, agent orange, agent green, and agent pink.

There has been some limited accusations on the Inprobus and Nickel Empires for coordinating an attack, however both governments have denied any knowledge of the incident. And due to the temporary transmission loss in the ocean several days ago form the "Inprobusian composite warhead test," there is no evidence of Inprobusian or Nickelian vehicles travelling near Urchinopian waters.

Scientists have recommended that an international panel establish a 50 km zone that bans all vehicles from entering this area for at least five decades and eating and fishing several Atlantic fish species be temporarily halted.

Fate of Ukranas decided, peacefully annexed after referendum shows overwhelming majority want union with Zuskeubia!
After many long years of separation following the unjustifiable terms imposed on Zuskeubia after the Euphestian-Petrokovian war, the Ukranian People's Republic has finally been reunified with Zuskeubia. This turn of events has been met with almost universal public support, and resistance from the Ukranian military has been minimal. Zuskeubia's allies have applauded the decision, while Petrokovian reaction has so far been muted. One Petrokovian official remarked it was simply "...no more than the Zuskeubians walking into their own backyard."

Some international officials have claimed the referendum is "nothing more than a sham" and are clamouring for an investigation into whether or not the votes were influenced by Zuskeubia.


Zuskeubia announces claims on Sokarian territory!
In a similar vein to other recent incidents, the Zuskeubian government has officially unveiled that it fully intends to reincorporate the Sokarian islands into the Zuskeubian state, by force if necessary. The Sokarian islands are a sparsely populated but strategically important cluster of small territories north of Euphestia. Following the Treaty of Krasnograd, the islands were declared independent of Zuskeubia, and have played an isolationist role in world affairs ever since.

Faustin Land demands territory - Arcus Terram accepts!
Faustian troops recently marched into the Elsec region in clear defiance of the treaty of Krasnograd, citing that they were merely ensuring the security of what was rightfully their territory. The nation of Arcus Terram has withdrawn all troops from the area and stated agreement with Faustian reasons. The Elsec region will now be under Faustian control for the foreseeable future.

Sokaria submits to Zuskeubian claims!
Sokaria has submitted to the Zuskeubian demands for reunification and has surrendered before a declaration of war could be issued. One Sokarian spokesman stated that... "It was simply not worth spilling the blood of our men and women for a doomed cause, when we could instead put our people's labour towards something much greater". For the first time in almost a century, Zuskeubian troops are once again garrisoned in the Northern Islands.

Government Comments on Euphestia

Nickelian Minister of Foreign Affairs, Smitty Werberjagermanjensen, was asked about the ongoing territorial seizures taking place in Euphestia by the National Strength League (NSL) and whether the Nickel Empire was going to do anything about it. Werberjagermanjensen responded:

"It is the belief of the Nickel Empire and her government that the nations, Zuskeubia and Faustin Land, are only correcting the errors inflicted on them by the Treaty of Krasnograd following the end of the Euphestian-Petrokovian War and as such no condemnation will be issued by the Nickel Empire to either of these nations.

However Faustin Land's Director stating the current government of Arcus Terram should resign and the threatening words he issued towards their nation caused some concern in the Nickel Empire. However since this is all taking place in a continent on the other side of the Atlantic Ocean, the Nickel Empire will do nothing but monitor the situation for further development."

Leader Kyung Ki-Nam Expresses Disappointment; Condemns Imperialist Faustinians

Our leader Kyung Ki-Nam has spoken today on the happenings in Euphestia. While he makes it clear that the regional happenings of Euphestia are outside Yakreshna'h's rightful influence, he has expressed disappointment with the governments of Sokaria and Ukranas, and with the loss of all democracy in those lands.

On a related note, he has pointed out concern over Faustin Land's imperialist nature, and because of this, has condemned them. Faustin, which lies on the other side of the Steel Curtain, has long called for further land conquest, and recently took over a section of Arcus Terram; As one might expect, rather than be satiated, the Imperialists' thirst was only doubled, and Faustin Land has called for Arcus Terram to cede more land.

Petrokovian Premier's Staff to Appear in Short Patriotic Video.

A short video detailing the Yakreshnanese Civil War will be released this March. As production wraps up, details may be announced! Several Staff Members from the Petrokovian Premier's Office have agreed to take part in the film to represent the Petrokovian allies. Among these include Premier's Aide Nonna Yakovna (playing an IS-2 tank commander), and her sisters Clara Yakovna and Katyusha Yakovna (as T-34 tank commanders). The Arcusian government today made a bold statement making it clear that the democratic government of Arcus Terram would not resign no matter what. This brave but quite possibly foolish broadcast is likely to do little to quell tension in the region, and public support for conflict is growing. All-out war seems imminent.

Ganeba demands Roelandian reparations for colonial atrocities

In an unsurprising move from the self-proclaimed Umkhosa, Ganeban for "ruler of kings", Musawe Nkosi, the dictator has demanded reparations from the Roelandian government, to atone for colonial atrocities committed when Ganeba was still a Roelandian colony. In a speech to a crowd of over 5,000 in the capital of Esinkulu, Musawe denounced colonialism and imperialism. Citing numerous atrocities, he called it a "grave injustice" and called for the Roelandian government to "apologize to the Ganeban people."

"It has become increasingly apparent that the current state of affairs is no longer acceptable for the Ganeban government and the people. The numerous atrocities and crimes committed by Roelandia during Ganeba's colonial period would, in modern times, constitute crimes against humanity. Thousands of Ganebans were murdered indiscriminately, by a regime unconcerned and indifferent with the welfare of its subjects. By a regime whose only purpose was the ruthless subjugation of a race who were considered inferior, who were regarded as nothing more than brutal savages. The time is long overdue: the Roelandian government must bear the full moral responsibility and guilt for their actions. They must apologize to the Ganeban people, especially to the families, the descendants, and the surviving victims of those who suffered. They must pay compensation, in order to rectify their wrongdoings, and resolve the situation."

Repeatedly expressing the desire to engage in "constructive dialogue" with the Roelandian government, Musawe confirmed that he had already contacted Roelandian officials regarding the issue. He remained confident regarding the ability of both governments to reach an agreement through diplomacy, and claimed that he was "open" over the matter of reparations.

For the purposes of gauging the effects of colonial exploitation from Roelandia, the Ganeban leader announced the formation of a special investigation committee under the supervision of Mtho Bisi, Ganeba's Minister of Public Information and Relations

"The issue of reparations is still under consideration by the Ganeban government. The exact amount has yet to be decided, and we will, of course, need Roelandian input." Musawe said, when questioned by reporters.

Critics of Musawe's demands for reparations have already spoken out. Many of them are Ganeban expats, living overseas in countries like Roelandia and Petrokovia, having fled after the 2011 military coup. Viewing the move as little more than an attempt to guilt-trip Roelandia into providing funds that would be used for military purposes in the Civil War, critics saw the dictator's speech as a way to rally national support, in a time when the country couldn't be more divided. "It's an hollow attempt to appeal to people's emotions. In reality, he couldn't care less whether the victims were compensated," An expatriate currently living in Petrokovia, who wished to remain anonymous, said when interviewed.

Government responds to events in Euphestia

Newly elected President Emanuel Wilson responded to Faustin Land's intervention in Arcus Terram earlier today at his very first press conference. When asked whether or not the Confederal States would intervene, President Wilson made it very clear that no direct military action would be taken against Faustin Land. He did, however, strongly condemn Faustin Land, and stated that he hopes the two sides will be able to resolve the situation peacefully.

Ships will be sent to the Gulf of Haamstede to evacuate any Arcusian citizens, as well as Confederalists, wanting to leave the conflict.

Secretary of State Jay Winik also responded to the current events in Euphestia, saying, "All sides should bring an immediate end to the violence and engage in direct talks to resolve this matter peacefully."

The House of Representatives has drafted a bill that would slap sanctions on Faustin Land. Confederalists currently in Faustin Land and Arcus Terram have been encouraged to leave immediately, if possible.
