Welcome to the world of post-WWI; the Great Depression strangles the world, with America, Britain, Germany and France in the strangle-hold of the global economic downturn. Across the Old World the two opposing doctrines of Fascism and Communism pound at the doors of democracy, in Italy and Germany democracy is already long dead. The old Imperialistic ideologies of scientific racism make a re-emergence as every ethnic group enters the rat-race to be declared the super-man. However you are the leader of your nation, forged perhaps long ago since the days of kings, or perhaps forged from the globe enveloping fires of the Great War. Whatever the case may be, the world is in a downward spiral, and the following years will decide if your nation is the hammer, or the anvil.

The North-German Nation

The North-German Confederation is an ideologically Fascist state existing within the Northern boundaries of Pre-War Germany, with a capital in Berlin and a population of aprox. 40,000,000. It is currently spear-headed by its leader, Adolf Hitler, who has instigated a policy of aggressive Autarky, investing heavily into public work schemes, such as the ''Reichsautobahn'' programs, as well as circulating members of the Army in and out of work, so that a greater number can be employed within it without exceeding the limitations of the Treaty of Versailles. Furthermore, in order to coordinate this economic revival Hitler has assigned Hjalmar Schacht as the Reichsminister of the Economy.

The North-German state emerged from the First World War due to the extreme political divide between the North and South leading to Prince-Rupprecht of Bavaria using his field army to secure the existence of a separate and sovereign state, and since then the two states have existed as rivals in regards to who can become the stronger Germany, however as North-Germany controls the Ruhr and Rhine regions it stands at the advantage in raw industrial power, though it relies more on foreign agriculture than its Southern counter-part.

However as it stands Hitler has numerous splinter factions within the Party structure, the SA threatens revolution, Hitler's old Conservative allies threaten to withdraw support, and various Communist political warlords vie for power in the vacuum left by the Reichstag Fire arrests. The Kingdom of Poland, an constitutional parliamentary monarchy existing around the realm of pre-war Poland is an quite populous, and is currently experiencing a term of national instability for now. The infrastracture of the country is standard, at most, and no current projects are under way as to improve it. The Polish Army is strong and well supplied, though thanks to the political situation in Poland, is divided by the instability this election has brought among the people. The Polish military is willing to adapt to the times as the tank is known to them, though they make preference of towed artillery and anti-tank guns at the moment due to the cheapness and how easily they can all be fielded to a Polish regiment.

Kornel Lutowicz, a supporter of the rival politician of Korneliusz, Konrad Sjuslaw, is a renowned Polish general, and people expect much of him. His counterpart in the army is Radomir Kuzminski, a general supporting the pro-free speaking Korneliusz and a heavy opposer of Konrad. The brewing rivalry between the two could be catastrophic, despite their excellent leadership skills.

This political unrest can be felt even between the poorer farming communities of Poland - whom generally all support Konrad, and they do fear communists simply for what Konrad and Kornel Lutowicz have told them. The King has yet to get involved in this election, but it's quite likely he will denounce or even disqualify Konrad. Polish industrial workers are also commonly seen to be on the side of Konrad, and the flame of fascist revolution is threatening the royal family of Poland. To maintain a (somewhat) healthy democracy, outside help will be required. May god bless them all.

History
The People's Republic of the Bulgarian Workers Union began through the spread of Communism in the East stemming from Stalin, and the USSR. The former state of Bulgaria took part in World War I with the Central Powers, fighting bravely against the Allies, however being forced to cede concessions, and to cut ties with the former Central Power countries such as the Ottomans, Austria-Hungary, and Germany. Ideals were spread, and many Bulgarians sought to become a world power like Russia had always been, and took up for an equality among all classes. Civil War erupted in 1930, Vasily Kolarov, and Georgi Dimitrov leading the movement for the newly formed Bulgarian Workers Union, eventually leading their overthrowing of the Tsar, and establishment of the People's Republic of Bulgaria. Jobs began to become abundant, and many plans were taken to mimic that of Western countries with railroads, and industry, however while the plans were being enacted the Great Depression hit, and plans had to be stalled. In the aftermath of the overthrowing of the Tsar, many believed that Vasily Kolarov robbed Georgi Dimitrov of his rightful place as President, and many are disatisfied with Kolarov's policies which translates to large problems in the government for Bulgaria.

The Republic of Braeton is located on the Island of the United Kingdom. The nation has been around for many hundreds of years. The population of about 50 million people is growing at a steady pace. The current elected representative of the nation is a man by the name of Neville Chamberlain. He is currently serving his second term in the republican government at the capitol of London. The government is very hands off when it comes the the economy, business, and daily life. The Republic had a large presence in the Great War and helped to push back the Germans and was present at the Treaty of Versailles. The nation tries to be non-interventionists when it comes to war, but will fight if the need ever arise.

The Kingdom of Grandes Terres was formed after the collapse of the old government due to the great depression. Grandes Terres is a plutocratic democracy meaning the leaders of the nations political parties all come from the Terresian aristocracy. The current ruling political party is the Conservative Party making the nations Prime Minister Lord Santiago Santos, the Queen of Grandes Terres is Agustina III.

Grandes Terres has a population of approximately 40 million people and is currently under a modernisation process to replace the old 19th century Spanish buildings and infrastructure with more sophisticated and efficient infrastructure aswell as making buildings larger and lighter to give people more room to improve their quality of life. This mass nation-wide modernisation is hoped to solve Grandes Terres' unemployment crisis caused by the Great Depression however has caused the government to sink into it's deficit.

Since the old governments fall the military has been modernised with tanks and planes, the Terresian colonies of North Morocco, Western Sahara, São Tomé and Príncipe and Equatorial Guinea have been kept in an attempt to industrialise them to benefit the Terresian economy.

The Province of Rhodesia was established in 1923 after government forces of the Republic of Braeton seized all assets of the Braeton South Africa Company which was responsible for the administration of government-owned mines after it was discovered that various members of the board of the BSAC were conspiring to defraud the government by blowing up mines with workers inside, forcing the government to pay the "beneficiaries" of those who would perish in these "mining accidents". The government seizure of BSAC assets ended the last of the so-called "company rule" within Braeton's territories. In 1924, the Provisional House of Representatives of the Territory of Rhodesia voted 190-1 to become a province of Braeton with one representative of the Zimbabwean People's Popular Front voting against and eight other representatives abstaining. Due to Rhodesia's unusually large size when compared to other provinces it has four senators (twice the number of other provinces) and its own security forces which reports to the Braeton Armed Forces Liaison Office in Salisbury. On September 30th, 1930 an explosion in Salisbury caused the deaths of 200 civilians including 5 members of the Rhodesian House of Representatives and 20 civil servants. An investigation led by the Provincial Police found that a group related to the Zimbabwean People's Popular Front, the sole African nationalist party in the Rhodesian House of Representatives, was responsible for the attack, leading to the passage of the Provincial Public Security Act of 1931 which outlawed the Zimbabwean People's Popular Front and other African nationalist parties and authorised the Security Forces to detain individuals suspected of being a terrorist for up to 168 hours without a warrant if there is reasonable cause. The current governor, The Honourable Herbert Stanley was elected to office in January of 1932 along with his running mate, Chief Secretary Alexander Maxwell who has recent resigned due to declining health with Brigadier General John Smith of the Rhodesian Security Forces filling in the role of Chief Secretary until a new one is appointed by the Rhodesian House of Representatives.

The economy of Rhodesia is heavily reliant on exports to Braeton and other countries with manufacturing, mining, steel, and engineering being the four largest sectors. A significant number of the population works in the mining industry which accounts for nearly a quarter of Rhodesia's GDP. Conditions in the mines have greatly improved since the end of company rule in Rhodesia with many labour laws being put in place to protect workers and insure safe working conditions. Labour unions have only been recently legalised and the extent to which they conduct industrial action is limited as it is considered a form of protest under Rhodesian law which prohibits the blockage of roads and other public infrastructure necessary to the operation of emergency services.

The Rhodesian Security Forces is the official armed service of the Province of Rhodesia and is made up of three branches: Rhodesian Ground Forces, Rhodesian Air Service, and the Rhodesian Provincial Police Force with a total strength of 55,000 including 15,000 reservists and auxiliaries.

The Rhodesian Provincial Police Force is the largest branch with a strength of over 30,000 constables, NCOs, and officers. Under the Provincial Public Security Act of 1925, the RPPF is responsible for law enforcement throughout Rhodesia and security at government buildings. Due to Rhodesia's vast landmass and large population, the RPPF is augmented by local police forces which are not officially a part of the RSF and thus not listed under its strength. Due to the small size of the Rhodesian Ground Forces, the Rhodesian Provincial Police Force's secondary role is to act as a territorial force during any emergency declared by either the Government of Braeton or by the Rhodesian House of Representatives. German dissenters executed

In a master-stroke execution of his enemies the Fuehrer, Adolf Hitler, has ordered the execution of numerous political dissenters within the German state, including his old ally and leader of the SA, Ernst Rohm. This has come under scrutiny by few, as it has been explained and widely accepted that these elements were planning a coup to once again destabilize the German nation. Hitler has been lauded by the military, and they have even agreed to swear a personal oath to him, binding the Reichswehr once and for all to the German state.

The Commission of Military Extension

To further the remilitarization of Germany, Hitler has authorized the extension of the Reichswehr to 250,000. This includes development into the areas of tanks, pioneered specifically by General and military theorist, Heinz Guderian. Furthermore, to avoid breaking too many terms of the Treaty of Versailles the German state has establish the Luftehanse, an organization that while proclaiming to be a transport and mail service, is a front for the testing of potential bomber designs.

CZAS; Fascist Demagogue Konrad Sjuslaw sows discontent with the King!

The right-wing politician, Konrad Sjuslaw yesterday has published documents from the Grand Bank of Warszawa depicting an large surplus of this year's government budget not going towards anything; and using this information, and representing this in his talks over radio, he has been attracting much support from the peasantry class!

Whether this information is all lies or truth, the people do not know, but it has done quite splendid in telling the poor what they want to hear and why they should vote for him! Reports of skyrocketing votes for his party from Lwow, a large city in the southeast have his political rivals worried they won't even be able to squeeze a single seat of parliament out of Lwow! Political unrest within Lwow, is infact evident as supporters for Konrad take to the street chanting hellish words about the King!

Kornel slapped down the newspaper he was just reading, CZAS, onto his wooden desk upon reading that small snippet he was focused on. 'Excellent!', he thought to himself as he turned around and looked out the window to the military installation. Krakow Military Academy, was his academy, and it was a breeding ground for fascist ideas due to the resentment for the King and the lack of other jobs these soldiers here felt, and all it took was for Konrad to come by and preach about it being the King's fault.

Kornel was an ally of Konrad, and if the election was annulled for Konrad leading an 'extremist party', Kornel would attempt to try and annul the annulment of the election. He was also a keen fan of the man to the west, Adolf Hitler, simply for his way of speech and the way he could project power impressed Kornel, and Konrad alike. They would want to shape themselves just like this man of the North German Confederation. However, going against Konrad's predictions, despite all this exposure silly newspapers gave, his party was still minor. It wasn't doing well in advertising, holding only 4% of the seats in the Sejm Rzeszy, which was basically parliament in an constitutional monarchy with a fancy name. They'd need Hitler's support to at least start gaining traction.

At the request of it's colony, the Province of Rhodesia, The Republic of Braeton has sent a large shipment of small arms, armor, and aircraft. This came after many attempted terrorist attacks by African nationalists.

The shipment includes the following:
10,000 Lee Enfields
5,000 Webley Revolvers
100 Vickers Machine Guns
20,000 Uniforms
25 Lanchester 6X4 Armored Cars with Guns
10 Hawker Fury

These items will be used to better arm the police force and army to fight the terrorists.
For this, Rhodesia has been made to increase it's already large export of steal and other materials.

The Border Issue

With the opportunity for work in Bulgaria, many Greeks have abandoned their home to migrate across the border. Measure have been taken to stop illegal aliens for migrating in. A fence has been constructed with military encampments being established to prosecute aliens. The issue seems to be more than the border however, Greek/Bulgarian Relations have always been sour, especially while Greece owns ethnically Bulgarian land in Selanik. Tensions seem deep.

First Czechoslovak Republic

Formed from the Ashes of the Austro Hungarian Empire, The First Czechoslovak Republic (Československá Republika) was formed in ethnic Czech and Slovak lands in 1918 (Minus the Sudetenland(Reserved for Vohenstrauss)). The independence of Czechoslovakia was proclaimed on October 28, 1918, by the Czechoslovak National Council in Prague. Several ethnic groups and territories with different historical, political, and economic traditions had to be blended into a new state structure. The origin of the First Republic lies in Point 10 of Woodrow Wilson's Fourteen Points: "The peoples of Austria-Hungary, whose place among the nations we wish to see safeguarded and assured, should be accorded the freest opportunity to autonomous development." The full boundaries of the country and the organization of its government was finally established in the Czechoslovak Constitution of 1920. Tomáš Garrigue Masaryk had been recognized by World War I Allies as the leader of the Provisional Czechoslovak Government, and in 1920 he was elected the country's first president. He was re-elected in 1925 and 1929, serving as President until December 14, 1935 when he resigned due to poor health. He was succeeded by Edvard Beneš.

The year is 1934 and Czechoslovkia remains the only functioning Democracy in Central & Eastern Europe. Tensions brew while the Czechoslovak people are between the fascist, communist, and monarchist conflicts throughout Europe. With it's strong economy and well equiped military, Czechoslovakia will never cease to exist. Sláva do Československa!

Before the DAR had independence, Germany had held the land as a colony, Subsequently the majority population is of German and dutch ethnic decent. During the first world war, Great Britain and her colonies in southern Africa invaded and occupied the colony. The colony was occupied until 1934, until the league of nations ordered South Africa to end the occupation. Relations with other European Southern African States are cordial due to common heritage, tongue, and faith.

Country Specifics

The DAR is a Democratic representative republic with a Grand Chancellor as the elected head of state. The first and current Chancellor is Ian Smith, a hearty and strong leader. The official language of the DAR is Afrikaans, and the state religion is Calvinism. The population of the DAR is 7,546,340 people, with 99% being ethnically German and 1% being native or other. The Capital of the DAR is Windhoek in the exact geographical center of the nation. The DAR breeds a hearty and strong people due to its ruff and brutal geography and deadly history. The lack of a native African population is due to defensive wars waged against the barbaric cannibal aborigines.

Economy
The main industries in the DAR include heavy industry in port cities, agriculture in the north of the country, and key mineral extraction in the central highlands. The country has extensive rail lines created by past imperial governments. These rail lines usually connect key port cities and mining locations. The DAR trades heavily with fellow African countries and its European cousins.

Military

The DAR armed forces is comprised of highly trained infantry men, who are skilled in desert combat. The DAR Army also is comprised of several special Boer Brigades. These Brigades comprising of 5,000 men each are highly trained and are trained as shock troops. The DAR Army also includes the "tenk maat" who use a new ground breaking tactic called blitzkrieg. The DAR Air force is highly experienced due to extensive combat during the first world war. The DAR navy operates 5 New York class battleships. The fleet is out dated but still quite capable in naval combat.

Italy was struggling militarily at the outbreak of world war 1. The Italo-Turkish war had sapped any moral for entering a new war as well as the weapons and munitions shortages Italy was unprepared and unwilling to join a side. However Italy was a part of the triple alliance and was under the impression that it was a defensive alliance and refused to join the central powers. Meanwhile the allies where constantly lobbying Italy to join them, after the Austro-Hungarian Empire insulted Italy. A deal was struck that Italy would join the Allies on the condition that they would gain a sizable amount of land. After world war 1 Italy attended the Paris Peace Conference expecting the great land gains it was promised however the Allies never had any intention to give Italy the lands. Prime Minister Vittorio Orlando returned home empty handed, a disgrace. The people, outraged that their Prime Minister was not capable of taking what they had so many countrymen for mass uprisings began in the years fallowing 1918.

By 1919 Italy's debt was six times that of its already crippling pre war debt the rise of two parties sought to fix it Mussolini and his Fascist Party and Costantino Lazzari's Socialist Party the Socialist party collapsed and most support went to the fascists however another party seemed to be on the rise mainly in central and northern Italy. The Roman Party sought to reinstall a emperor and with him the once great Roman Empire while the Fascists claimed to be the successors of Rome they did not share the same ideology, culture, or beliefs. In the 1921 elections both parties grew immensely in power with neither being able to get a step ahead of the other politically both resorted to building and mobilizing a military to destroy the opposition. The Fascist army in Naples began marching to Rome while there was a few Roman legions stationed in Rome about 3 thousand men it was not enough to fend off the fascists 30,000 the Emperor, who was in Venice dispatched his newly founded Imperial Guard Composed 20,000 highly trained and well equipped soldiers would have their work cut out for them. In the summer of 1922 the fascist army laid siege to the city of Rome the Imperial Guard would not arrive for a couple days by the time the Imperial Guard had arrived the 3,000 men legions had been cut down a mere 800 only having killed about 1,800 Fascists the imperial guard under command of Giovanni Messe who created the Imperial guard fortified positions and began to train and arm some of the civilians of Rome adding a additional 4 thousand militia all be it with little training and using somewhat outdated equipment. After 2 months of a battle of attrition the Romans gained the upper hand when a Roman shell hit a key Fascist commander. Unorganized and running low on equipment the Fascist army gave in many surrendered and some charged at the entrenched Romans headed for certain death. The Emperor ordered the invasion of southern Italy and The execution of Benito Mussolini by combat in the colosseum

Grandes Terres Petroleum Corporation Founded

Today the nation rejoiced as Grandes Terres' first major corporation was established since the start of the great depression, there are already many large corporations in Grandes Terres however they were created before the great depression and the founding of Grandes Terres and have only just been given economic freedom and tax exemption. Prime Minister, Lord Santiago Santos has held a meeting with the CEO of GTP to discuss what laws the company wants to be exempt from such as redundancy laws meaning the corporation wont need to pay staff after making them redundant. GTP hopes to tap into the oil deposits in the Terresian colonies such as in Equatorial Guinea to help the company out in its infancy.

The United States of America is a 150 year old nation situated in the continent of North America. The nation’s capital is in the city of Washington D.C. It is generally better off than most other countries, however, it is currently in a Great Depression. The nation is a Republic ruled by president Franklin Delano Roosevelt. When the Great War began in 1914, President Theodore Roosevelt urged for intervention. With the sinking of the Lusitania in 1915, the U.S. entered the war. In 1917, as the war was nearing a close, Mexico joined the war, persuaded by the Germans. The U.S. was able to crush them and took many lands from the nation. In 1920, the U.S. had a brief skirmish with Canada, leading to their taking of lands along the Atlantic. In 1928, the Great Depression began, causing the New York city commune to be created. It was quickly crushed, but nine states in the South seceded from the Union.

The Riechsautobahn Project

Upon the recommendation of Minister of Economy and Minister of Industry, and General-Inspector of the German Transport and Logistics Schacht, Speer and Todt respectively, the Fuhrer authorized in early-1934 the construction of road networks, damns and railways dubbed the ''Reichsautobahn'', funded by road-use tax and taxes on fuel. Not only are the automotive industries booming as demands for cars increase due to the new roads connecting dozens of German cities, but the roads themselves have provided jobs for millions of unemployed across the country, either directly or indirectly; for the first time since 1929 the unemployment figure has been below 10%, and that figure is one that is dropping daily as dozens find work across a now rejuvenating Germany.

Behind closed doors however, the Commanders of the Reichswehr discuss the strategic value of these roads; they can transport Germany's mechanizing military at lightening speed at rates unprecedented in Human history. The German policy of Bewegungskrieg (Maneuver Warfare) will certainly be aided by the rapidity at which these roads will allow the deployment of reserve forces. It is said with the use of 4,000 Opel Blitz trucks a Korps of 50,000 including artillery and heavy equipment could travel from Berlin to the Rhineland in under two days.

The Exchange Policy

To protect the German currency, the Reichmark, from the taint of inflation and the devastation of global trade, Germany has begun a system of barter and negotiation for goods. Goods may be bought from Germany in Reichmarks only, and to gain these Reichmarks goods must be sold to Germany in exchange. Furthermore, with countries poor, but rich in resources, such as Yugoslavia and Romania, Germany has begun a policy of trade. Germany provides much of these countries' steel and equipment needs, and these countries provide their vast reserves of raw materials.

Savages on the frontier

It is well known that the peoples of sub Saharan Africa know no civility. This fact has been shown again. "Peoples" of the weusi arent watu tribe attacked a frontier village last night. In the middle of the night scores of savages stormed the town of Dingo. Using primitive spears and rocks the attackers slaughtered 89 Duitse Afrikans. The town Militia was late to react but did repel another wave of dogs. The news of this attack soon spread to Windhoek. The nation was horrified and the citizenry called for action. Ian Smith then gave a speech on the matter.

To the peoples of Duitse Suid Afrika, the Civilized world, and the dogs who carried out this attack, this will not stand. The peoples of the DAR will not allow this heinous violence to occur. For decades the civilized people of the DAR have scraped out a simple life in the barbaric wilderness that is Afrika. We will not allow our progress to be challenged by a hoard of backwards savages. We will react in kind to these attacks. The people of the Weusi arent watu will pay dearly. Thank you and may God bless Duitse Suid Afrika!

In reaction a Boer Brigade was mobilized, as well as 10 tanks. The force of 5,000 men and 10 tanks have now been dispatched into the wilderness of Botswanaland. A limited operation has now begun to bring these dogs to justice.

The competition was open to those qualified in the Bergamoni Football League (BFL). Many Bergamonis attended the event in hopes that the reigning champions, the Mjölnir who have been defending the championship since 1931, against the Siegfried IF. Unfortunately, Siegfried IF defeated the Mjölnir after going into over time with a 3-1 win. This was Siegfried's third Bergamoni Cup trophy. Some Mjölnir fans and even some of the players believe they have cheated somehow but, this could be apart of Mjölnir's grieving process

The Peoples Republic.

The Peoples Republic Of Curraleigh was officially formed after New Years Day. The Kingdom of Yugoslavia, the former rulers, were highly oppressive during the wake of the World War the Royal family order a massive conscription, and forced labor laws to prepare its defensive and industrialize the country. Long after the war, the Royal Family kept the laws, while civil unrest was rising, the Royal Army attempt to suppress the unrest in the city of Osijek but ended in a slaughter. Worker parties started rising up and resisting the Royal Armies forces across the country. They've either made their weaponry from the factories that were supposed to support the Armies or raided military depots and supply convoys. Military generals soon were influenced and infiltrated by the 'Workers Party' were able to mobilize in the Captial city of Belgrade during New Year Eve, and begin to assault military districts and the Royal Palace. The fighting didn't end till 5:17 AM. At 9:45 AM, the leader of the party socialist, Veselko Poropat, announced in front of the Royal Palace, now called the 'House of Commoners'. Accounted the fall of the Royal Family, and declared the country 'The Peoples Republic of Curraleigh'. The 23,560,978 people cheered across the land and the new flag of Curraleigh was raised high in the skies and Craigers, the new national currency was beginning to distribute to the poorer classes, and repairs into the damages. Along with newer, modernized weaponry was being issued to the forces, most were unfinished projects from the Royal Army.

It has come to my attention that our neighbour to the left, the German Republic of South Africa, has mobilised a brigade of men for an expedition in Botswanaland. This action may force native tribes in that area to move towards our borders which poses a serious threat to the security of our state as there have been many documented attacks on settlements by these tribes. As such, I hereby order the mobilisation of the Provincial Police Force and select Ground Forces detachments and task them with the security of our borders, whether it's preventing native tribes from entering our territory or defending the sovereignty of our state from German South African Forces. A telegram will be sent to the government of German South Africa regarding the restrictions on foreign forces in Rhodesian territory as soon as possible.

Kolarov Vs. Dimitrov

It has come. The tension has reached a boiling point between President Kolarov, and Prime Minister Dimitrov due to disagreement over the Greek issue. Dimitrov is pushing to invade, and take back Selanik, while Kolarov wishes to focus on the economics. Many see this as cowardly, and an attempt to stop the assertion of the Bulgarians throughout Europe, starting with the Balkans. Dimitrov has risen his loyalists, splitting the country straight down the middle. The military divided. Sofia is now war torn with many forced from their homes, and the economy suffering more from the civil war.

While the war seems to be in Dimitrovs favor, he has fully taken the capital and forced Kolarov into exile from the capital. Times are changing.

Within hearing of the bloody Civil War happening to Bulgaria a mountain skirmishers unit called 39th Mountain 'Rangers', and 21th Mountain 'Lions' to be stationed near the Bulgarian border to monitor for any type of hostile force in closing on it. As for any refugees seeking to flee to Curraleigh were welcomed but carefully watched. Veselko released a statement saying,

Our comrades to the east will be seeking to help, and I will be happy to offer it to them.
