Are we going to do what we did last time and submit a mini factfile for the candidates of the Secretary General? Also - Am I able to submit my candidate at this moment? I've done so after seconding Gannica, but if I've stepped out of line please tell me.

I borrowed the CUAC application from Tectonix - I hope this is okay - I thought it would be the best way to present Harold as we don't get much chance to develop our characters in an RP like this.

It's good.

Say, think you and Covonant are up for a debate? Or is that simply not desired, and you keep the campaign to just speeches?

From telegrams from Covonant, (about the State Visit) it seems that he is a bit busy at the moment so I'm refraining from directly challenging him in the thread so that he can make a speech and whatnot when he has time to do so. It's only fair so that we can both get a word in. I also think speeches can questioning can be a good way for those voting to decide if we can't have a debate due to timing.

Sorry for my inactivity been busy the last few days and I'm hoping to have more flexibility with my time to come on here, but I see that not changing too much for now especially starting September when i start working. I think it's best to have Gannica drop out of the race allowing Harold to win by the only person running. Personally I believe others should get a chance at leading the CU just as Covonant did for the 9 and a half months and noronica is viewed favourable in my eyes for that. I will rp on the IC to reflect that. Also Noronica I wrote the RP for the state visit early this morning but haven't finished as it's kinda long but I'm enjoying the rp and will make more efforts to be more active on it as the story line and flow makes for a wonderful read.

Are you sure? I'm happy with you continuing with Gannica, and I wouldn't be too disappointed if you win, so if you don't want to drop out, please don't. However, if you think it best and you'll be too busy, that's fine, your choice. Let's see how others feel though.

That's fine about the State Visit - loved your post and I'll try and reply as soon as possible!

Yes I'm sure... My days are getting busier and i start a new job in September that may be demanding but i still intend to be active but i don't think it would be to a point I'd get to be on everyday. There will be future elections and if Gannica is up to it provided Covonant remains then he will contest. Also speaking on the referendum for September for Covonant, I may push it to November as September and maybe October might be busy for me, still want to have the CU games im September so I'd devote some time to it.

The Treaty of Coventry is great at spelling out what exactly happens to member-states, not so great at actually saying how the Union works. Of course, I can't blame Covonant — it's a common overlook, and hopefully this Ordinance will straighten things out.

I sent a TG to all of you, sirs and ma'am.

I think it did be good to have something like the A-Levels for the CU. What you say?

Firstly, the A-Levels are a UK-only deal meaning it would be hard to derive an international system from it. Also, I don't like having a Union-wide education board/system, as that would not fit the needs of each member nation's criteria for its future workforce.

I would instead endorse a system similar to the International Baccalaureate and make it an option for students to choose between their nation's education board or the (CU version of the) IB. I think this makes much more sense and it allows more flexibility.

Otherwise, Noronica would not be happy and I suspect many other nations would not be happy to have a compulsory CU-wide education system.

I am inclined to agree. With the Secretariat and peacekeeping issues out of the way, focusing on things like education would be a great idea. Perhaps a...CB? Or some other interesting name.

I like the idea of a region wide exam system but Covonant could not commit to that as we share different history and our educational system differs to that from other CU states. In Covonant students are thought for example, Covonantian history and the Covish language, it would be expensive to overhaul our educational system which was reformed literally one year ago come September 1 and to intertwine other CU states history and knowledge to make a standardize test may pose challenge for Covonant. Concerning the CB (in case name change) Covonant would not make this mandatory but would allow individuals to do it but Covonantian prescribed exams are mandatory in all instance.

Aye, I guess the International Baccalaureate is more appropriate. And no, I don't think we should make this mandatory but something of an interesting option.

I said A-Levels because I am an A-Level student (which is why I have to travel 1 and half hour by bus to the center of the city everyday...I live in the outskirts) and it popped to my mind when I though of something international education system :)

CB seems a nice name.

Not mandatory. More like choice. Here students can have choice whether they want to do Nepali private +2 or the British Council-supported A-Levels or technical studies like (Dental Studies and Hairdressing for example) run by government after passing Grade 10. I imagined something like that.

And I think almost every RL nation has such systems...don't they?

Not here in the good ol' US of A. The only people here who get access to IB are either in U.S. territories or fancy New England prep schools.

A public high school in Montana, near me, is trying IB out too.

Time for the CUHO...

Also, this is where we need to allow for screening of people coming in from infected nations, and not have that be considered against the Treaty of Coventry. That level of legal interpretation, according to the High Ordinance, is done by the Parliamentarians of the Commission and Assembly, and the CUCJ Magistrates. Which, speaking of them...Noronica, you need to submit your new nomination notice, or the Commission will be stuck in limbo forever.

Only problem is that five people responded to the tg, meaning that there would only be five magistrates. Shall we just do the five and RP the petition or shall I write up the nomination with every nation having a magistrate and we just don't RP the petition?

We can RP the five, assuming they are non-Noronican, and RP the rest as Noronican, setting a precedent for how the CUCJ should be benched.

Cool, but I'm not happy with the rest being Noronnican as that would be seen as control over the CUCJ. I say we just stick to five magistrates if that's all that can be used. I'll update the Notice of Nomination once this health issue has been debated.
