Suddenly, a swarm of missiles zoomed out from behind the moon. They were too fast for Foledonia's ships to intercept. When they hit, they blasted out huge chunks of the enemy navy's ships. All the commanders turned to see a large mass of 10 Treskovian corvettes and 8 Neomerican Scimitar Dreadnoughts, supported by 4 Doom-class Battleships of the Void Pact and a single Leviathan of the Zerg Hives. The Battleships began destabilizing the very atoms of the Foledonian's ships, the Corvettes launched boarding parties, the Scimitars kept barraging and breaking the enemy ships, while the Leviathan sent out massive tentacles to constrict the navy.

Admiral Yako blinked in surprise as the Planet Breaker appeared among their formation. They shouldn't have been able to jump so quickly and precisely. "Admiral! Energy readings are off the charts! Adjacent ships are suffering minor shield impacts from the errant charges, but the source seems to be emitting from the jump drive! It's going critical, Sir!"

Yako felt the Renaldo fire its main armament again, obliterating a handful of keyships. "Disengage and retreat to a safe distance. We've done our job here."

With that, the second fleet activated emergency maneuvering thrusters and beat a tactical retreat. Several destroyers were caught up in the withdrawal and hunted down by keyships. A nearby cruiser, the IFN Humble Regards, unleashed a tidal wave of withering macro and lance fire, downing another pair of keyships. However, they weren't retreating fast enough. Forced to turn and engage the keyships as they backed off, another pair of destroyers were downed, their void shields popping at the intense fire.

Suddenly, missiles impacted two battleships and they exploded without warning, their void shields holding for only a few seconds. Yako gawked at the spectacle. "By Sigmar! Where did that come from?"

A motley crew of ships had appeared from behind the moon and had summarily destroyed a significant portion of the fleet. At 3/4 strength, the Foledonian second fleet had been thoroughly kicked in the nuts.

A Warp portal opened up behind the new enemy, depositing the ninth fleet behind their number. Among their ranks was the Exterminatus-Class Battle Cruiser, the IFN Karkov, its nova lance prepped and charged. Admiral Yako opened a channel to the ninth. "Admiral Takova," Yako said plainly. "We seem to be in quite the pickle. Mind engaging these heretics for us?"

Admiral Takova nodded her head and ordered her fleet into a strike pattern. The Karkov led the way, nova lance targeting the Leviathan. When it fired, the lance rocked the vessel, the sheer force it exerted enough to make the maneuvering thrusters kick in. The lance neatly split the Leviathan into a thousand different pieces, each one withering under a micro black hole. The remainder of the fleet engaged the accompanying vessels.

The Forerunner Planet-Breaker tried it's best to follow the enemy fleet, now automated by it's ancilia. After some time at this, the ancient warship was oblitterated in a blinding, purple-blue sphere of Jumpspace that utterly destroyed everything that was caught in it. There was no debris left...everything in the explosion's radius simply ceased to exist. In addition to the initial blast of the ethereal dimension, a EMP wave rapidly expanded ahead of the sphere of energy, disabling or destroying any and all unshielded electronics and technology in the immediate area of the blast, before gradually weakening as it got futher and further from it's origin. Anything in FTL transit or far enough away would be uneffected.

Admiral Yako was thrown back into his chair, the rest of the bridge crew being jostled about by the sudden blast. The ship had been too close. Several destroyers and cruisers disappeared in blinding flashes, tens of thousands of lives lost at once. The second fleet had survived the tandem attack, but only barely. Most of the keyships had been destroyed or had retreated to the opposite side of the blast radius.

Yako righted himself and ordered a damage report. Two hundred ships remained combat effective, nearly thirty destroyers and nine cruisers reporting most if not all of their systems were fried and forty other ships destroyed outright by the fighting or the blast.

Yako realized there was blood dripping from his brow. Fucking really? "Round on the new enemy. Let's help out the ninth."

The second reorganized as best they could, withering fire still assaulting their void shields. Another battleship went up in a blast, missiles impacting its reactor. Boarding vessels came within point defense range and were blown away one at a time. A few made it through the anti-ship net however and Yako ordered the fleet to repel all boarders. Two boarding vessels impacted with the IFN Renaldo and sirens went up ship-wide. Rankers and Ratings thundered across the decks, lasrifles in hand, to repel the enemy.

The ninth was making short work of the new fleet. They were extremely powerful, yet hugely outnumbered. With the death of the Laviathan, the remaining ships began to wither under the punishing fire.

Sylvia's ship and her remaining forces regrouped, and eventually emerged from Jumpspace to attack their enemy. Knowing a conventional battle would be lost, they retreated in Jumpspace again. At every oppertunity, this tactic would be repeated. Those Thessian ships that were disabled had their AIs eventually awaken again, and these would hemorrage their remaing forces into space before self-destructing. Sylvia hoped these desperate tactics would allow her to survive long enough to command the Fleet of Holy Reconciliation when it arrived.

Meanwhile, Luciana navigated the swift plane, swooping up and making a white trail in the sky. Yao cringed, not used to this much movement. He felt a little nauseous. Forcing himself to control his side of the ship, he opened the glass case attached to the control panel and pulled the lever for missile launching. A remote dropped in front of him, and he guided the missile like it was a video game. Making an explosion, the missile hit the side of an enemy ship, damaging the other two that happened to be in the blast radius. “F-Felix, I-I think it is your call.”

Placing the remote back into the hatch where it belongs, he promptly hurled the contents of his stomach into a conveniently-placed paper bag. Luciana wrinkled her nose at the smell, and directed the plane slightly to the right. The turbulence was greatly reduced. “Y-Yao, that was just plain rude to do that next to my side.”

“Sorry, Miss. But it was necessary, otherwise it would have been on the precious floor.”

“True, true. Please resume whatever you were doing, and do it calmly.”

Felix ignored the smell, and grinned widely. He was never usually sent to fire weapons, go on military missions, or anything of the sort. It was very exciting for him, as he loved doing new things. “You sure about this, Luci?”

Luciana nodded. “Definitely.”

After pushing a small, glowing red button, the plane shook violently, and the laser cannons conjoined and began charging a red beam. Waiting for a few seconds, the beam fired, managing to obliterate 1/5th of an enemy ship. Yao paused his retching, managing to calm down, and whistled. “Whew! That really did work! It wasn’t as big as I thought, though...”

Felix used his remaining hand, and mock-saluted to him. “Why, thank you, captain. Of course it would work! But if it was any bigger, it would fail the charging and the plane would explode and we’ll fall into the ocean screaming as we burn to death.”

Yao blanched. “Hmm... That was... um...”

Luciana interrupted his statement, a little pale herself. “That was hazardous, sir. That is what he meant to say.”

“Of course it was hazardous! This is war!”

“That’s not what I meant.”

“I don’t know what you meant, but okay!”

“Geez, Felix. You’re crazy. I'm calling the rest of the group. Hopefully, they're here.”

After a few minutes of speaking and flying, a small plane filled with the other representatives appeared. Amelia waved at the three. "HEY! We're here! I see..."

Vidi and company would have been obliterated in the blast if it wasn't for the gem. Upon attack, the gem had activated and produced a small shield around the three of them. The guards were too far away and had been obliterated, as had everyone else not accounted for in the giant ship battle.

They had watched in horror as the Foldonia's had pushed back anyone in their way. All hope seemed to be lost. Then Oscar had an idea.

"Sir, if I reverse the polarity of the shield, maybe I can turn it into a weapon"

Vidi simply nodded, and Oscar proceeded to pick up a leftover gelpack from when the gem had turned to shield. He tore out the gel inside the pack, and a large glooey blob formed on his hand. He tensed as he rammed the gel to the top of the small shield.

He screamed as the gel turned hot and burned his hand, and the shield concentrated into one spot on the gel, before becoming a beam and firing off at one of the Foldonia ships. It was the capital ship.

Admiral Yako felt his ship begin to buckle under an intense force. The beam up energy had cleanly sliced the aft end of the ship in two and had detonated the munitions store. The IFN Renaldo shuddered as several pockets of munitions began to cook off, obliterating the rear of the ship. "Fuck! All hands, abandon ship!"

Yako, swaying as the ship listed and rocked, made his way down off the bridge and through the corridors in order to make it to the escape capsules. More explosions rocked the ship, several of them worryingly violent. At any moment, the atmosphere might start venting. Another explosion rocked the crippled ship as he made his way into a capsule. Just as he strapped himself in, the artificial gravity disabled and hundreds of sailors and ratings began to float off the deck, mid run. Some of them were carried into bulkheads or doorways with their momentum intact, crashing into the surfaces. Some were knocked unconscious, others simply injured.

The pod was quickly filled and the airlocks slammed shut before it was fired into space, a thin wisp of exhaust trailing behind its burners. Hundreds of ratings and deckhands were consumed by the ship when its reactors touched off.

Meanwhile, the remaining forces which had appeared from behind the moon were finished off by the ninth. The IFN Karkov fired its nova lance a final time, downing the last enemy capital ship. With the surprise force dealt with, albeit at a high cost, the ninth fleet joined up with the remnants of the second and together, the two Imperial fleets began culling, at an astonishing rate, what was left of the resisting keyships.

The in-atnosphere enemy would soon find themselves swarmed by sentinels that had disengaged the orbital battle. While the remaining keyships that had by this point failed to regroup were being destroyed, a few managed to recover enough to retreat into Jumpace. This left countless fighters, gunships, sentinels and Promeatheans to engage the enemy once they recovered, since they could not retreat into Jumpspace. These would horrass the enemy, strafing to avoid enemy fire. While not anywhere near as powerful as the warships that had brought them into battle, their sheer numbers meant they were'nt to be trifled with. The drones and Forerunner AI warriors even tried to cut into the hulls in the enemy ships or outright teleport inside to attack their crews. A good number of the fighters and gunships would be inevitably destroyed, but they were meant to only weaken the enemy...their attacks were suicidal in nature, yet meant to do one thing- buy time.

The Grand Duchy Of Nova Capile wrote:Christian tensed as the official squinted down at his passport, noticing something wrong. Suddenly the man began to spout about how the World Assembly had regulated passports so that every one had to have small imperfections, and how Christian's was perfect. Wachter glanced around the room, trying to remain cool and analyze each person. Besides the soldier who had accompanied him to the customs office, no one posed a real threat. Two old security guards were lumbering about, hands clutching their bulbous stomachs, and there was this official who would surely panic and drop to the floor if Christian tried anything. Two or more guards would be spread throughout the rest of the building, along with as many as a dozen secretaries and other workers. Any one of them could try to be brave, and that could be disastrous. Besides, how could he get out of here?

He frowned at the thought of a high speed chase. But it just might work... "What? These are verified identification papers! Here, let me show you!" Christian beckoned the customs official to come over to his suitcase. Reaching inside, he suddenly pulled out a comb and pulled off the end to reveal a small, sharp blade. His other hand darted to the holster of the nearby guard's belt, ripping the gun out. Christian jumped back, pulling the inspector with him and holding the knife to his neck. He rested the gun on his hostage's shoulder. "Make a move and he dies," the agent shouted, bringing the blade dangerously close to the man's jugular.

Schwerpunkt, the tip of the spear. Of the 500,000 men assigned to Heeresgruppe Phalanx, 265,000 were stationed on the roughly 150 mile long Libyan Plateau, along with 2,600 of the 3,000 armored vehicles. As what seemed to be the entire Byzanthian garrison of North Africa was sucked down into the Southern Deserts of Libya, Nova Capile finished preparing for their attack. Just as Karifi troops surrounded Ghat, Operation: Templar was launched. 500,000 men thundered across the Egyptian border, dispatching the pathetic defenders in no time. Armored forces captured the lightly defended cities of Tobruk, Al Jaghbab, and Al Jawf within hours of the surprise attack.

The Byzanthians had overextended themselves miserably, sending nearly all of their forces southward to counter the Karifi invasion, leaving the valuable strip of coastline exposed and vulnerable. Armored forces would steamroll the cost in days, trapping and hopefully destroying a large chunk of the enemy army. Any Byzanthian attempts to waddle back up out of the deserts would be quickly countered by the large numbers of Capileans moving into Libya, and due to their horrific logistical situation would collapse instantly. If all went to plan, North Africa would be under Capilean control in less than a month.

The guard, frantic to save his life, immediately surrendered. "Wh...wh-at do you want?" He asked, sputtering as he tried his best to avoid the knife painfully cutting into his neck. "Please...please I'll do anything!" The other officers looked at him in disappointment and fear. Christian conveniently decided to attack one of the most senior officers in the North African division of the Bureau of Civil Protection and Defense. He held classified knowledge of the inner workings of the Federal Government, along with passcodes to all major nuclear missile launch sites in the nation. With the simple override PIN code obtained by the officer, Christain could easily unleash every one of Byzanthia's nukes on any point he desired.

Christian relaxed a bit as the other guards instantly surrendered. "Down on the floor!" he commanded, "and throw your weapons towards me." He watched as each of the men slowly collapsed
and slid their guns towards him. Christian was rather surprised that all of them had given up so easily; he decided something must be unusual. Bringing the knife one tick closer to ending his hostage's life, he asked the official a simple question. "Who are you? Some ministry big shot?" He carefully watched the rest of the men, and added a threat for them. "If any of you move, you're a dead man."

The Trident Council of Defence
10:38am

The room was light as the council sat around a desk as it lashed outside.

"As Byzanthia have obviously funded the terror attack which killed our dear primary government, we'll have to act." Hoffman said. "Previously to the attacks, the Commissioner was granted executive powers. I'll have to use these to stop the terrorists in Byzanthia, and to topple the Byzantine government. We will also not forget the Foledonians, who perpetrated the attack." Hoffman smiled, but quickly replaced it with a frown. He knew that it was all staged deliberately for the betterment of himself.

The council clapped. They got their pens out as if they knew what to do next.

"Im going to pass around the war declaration. If you all sign it, then we can officially use it tomorrow. The Military Council has agreed on this too. They have all the troops ready for immediate deployment, however we will not use any weapons of mass destruction in this, as it may cause mutual destruction for both of us."

The piece of paper was thrown across the room. All council members signed it. By 11am The Council was dismissed.

With the keyships either gone or in full retreat and the surprise fleet completely destroyed, the Foledonian Navy stood victorious, albeit at an enormous cost. While downing nearly two dozen ships, including the Planet Breaker, the second and ninth fleet suffered almost ninety losses, a third of which were the super-heavy battleships, leaving both forces at 2/3 strength. Admiral Yako, his escape pod successfully collected, stepped onto the bridge of the IFN Polaris and resumed command of the second fleet. Admiral Takova popped on screen, a smudge of grime along her cheek, warning lights blinking along the ceiling above her.

"Yako, what the fuck have we done?" she blurted out, trying to straighten her long hair out with her fingers. Yako pursed his lips in irritation and said, "Takova, please, just reorganize your fleet and prepare to warp back to the Cradle. Our job here is done."

Gunships and fighters continued to assault the two fleets, but their efforts were wasted. Their guns failed to penetrate both the void shields and the thick hull plating of the Foledonian ships. After about ten minutes of regrouping, the ships were organized and both fleets warped out of system leaving behind whatever resistance continued to harass their formations.

From her position in Jumpspace, she used her ship's technology to watch her desimated enemy leave. Finally safe again, she emerged from the ethereal dimension in the planet's atnosphere. She still had more then a day before her fleet would arrive, but as she was still alive, she could rally it around her. It was then she saw the in-atnosphere craft that shot at her remaining forces earlier. Her first action was to disable it's weapon so it could not shoot at her with a purposely underpowered particle cannon blast. As the sentinels penetrated the craft with ease, she projected herself onto it as a hardlight Contact Essance.

Capilean News (Updated 16 November)
Where is the horse gone? Where the warrior?
Where is the treasure-giver? Where are the seats at the feast?
Where are the revels in the hall?
Alas for the bright cup! Alas for the mailed warrior!
Alas for the splendour of the prince!
How that time has passed away, dark under the cover of night, as if it never were.

President Vidi at first was in shock that someone else had survived the explosion, then composed himself as he realised the question he was being asked.

"Sorry if we startled you, we barley know what we can do with this gem you see. But I think today's field test proves we may be able to at least protect ourselves. If your willing to, we can work on this new technology together to protect both our nations against this new form of enemy. All I ask in return is for you to share technology to help update our standard forces, as they are quite behind the times even by modern stnadards. If you do agree to help, I advise you come back to New Gibraltar to begin work".

George turned to Vidi to say something else.

"Sir, what about Oscar's hand?"

Vidi looked at the scientists hand, realizing the extent of the burn. Oscar could be seen to be in quite some pain over his hand. Vidi responded.

"Luckily we have medical supplies on the boat if I remember correctly".

He turned back to Arthur.

"So, are you coming?"

That felt rushed.. Honestly, could you flesh it out a bit? I mean, in the event of the complete destruction of the capital city and 90% of the government, I can believe that the people would select a random politician and throw him into power; but to sort all of this out would take several hours, hours in which Christian would be long gone.
Also, I fail to see how ordering the execution of a traitor in North Africa and assigning major police forces to it when there's an INVASION of the same place going on would be logical or on the top of the priority list for this new leader.

And finally, you still haven't written anything about the invasion.
I'm sorry, but I feel brushed off.

Arthur points to the rest of the ruins''you want me to help you then destroy what you just used. look at this poor man's hand though.'' as he walks over to Oscar and holds it up, it burns his hand so he drops the arm.''Ouch. Anyway this will destroy anyone who uses it and I think..''Turning to Oscar.''you might die today.''

To: Greater Byzanthia
From: H. Hoffman Commissioner of The Seven United

Hi,
Im sad to see how your peace loving nation has stooped low enough to home and fund terrorists, and to secretly fund a coup which was unsuccessful in The Seven United. We will retaliate. You have committed an act of war against our country :) Therefore, you have two choices. Your first choice is to formally apply to become a member of The Seven United. You'll have to give up all your territories outside of your mainland, you'll have to sign off all of your army to the Military Council and then we'll accept you in, or you can feel the wrath of the division. Cheers xx

Thanks,
Signed. H.Hoffman

Unfortunately, he did not follow along the lines of peace and neutrality and was more than willing to obliterate Sylvia and Fooledonia in the name of technological advancement and power. He had disguised himself as a peaceful politician, intent on improving the lives of the less fortunate. With the death of the former Prime Minister and most of the government, now he had his chance to seize Byzanthia for himself. As soon as he was sworn in, he declared martial law and sent whatever remained of the military to the protectorates' borders. As for Christian and the security guard who was now deemed a traitor to the republic, the Prime Minister had five helicopters, fifty men, and a boatload of guns surrounding the building. The soldiers smashed windows in order to get in, immediately seizing Christian. As for his the guard that he held captive, they shot his four times to make sure he died.

OOC: Sorry. The whole thing was rushed, and by the time that I saw that I had essentially destroyed my own nation, I slapped together a post attempting to create a realistic outcome. Unfortunately, I was pressed for time, as I had a lot of RL work to finish. I think that it would be best to completely ignore my last post. I will delete it short and replace it with another, hopefull better written, one.

Obviously Arthur and company seemed uninterested in helping themselves not be destroyed, so Vidi simply decided to part ways.

"Well, it's your decision. However, if you come after Neu Gibraltar, we will defend ourselves. Good day".

And so Vidi and company, with Oscar still groaning slightly, made the slow journey of walking back to their boat.

Luckily, about a mile down the road, a passer by saw them in their car and offered them a lift back to the boat.

Soon, they would be back home, putting their new knowledge to use to defend themselves against the new alien threats. Anyone attacking them would hopefully get a nasty surprise.
