The 250 ships of Classis Misenensis floated in the harbor. Clearly visible were the 44 battleships that formed the core of the fleet. Around them, 14 armored cruisers, 14 protected cruisers, 37 light cruisers, 78 destroyers, 61 torpedo boats, and 2 unprotected cruisers formed a protective screen. Caesar Augustus IX stood on the balcony of the Imperial Palace, watching the ships as they began to make their way out of the harbor and into the Infinite Expanse. "Caesar, quod habeo ad te. Quidam coetus dicitur "Tekna Republika"." Caesar turned to face High Admiral Lucius Gaius Agrippa, First Lord of the Admiralty and the highest ranking officer in the Imperial Navy. "Verbum?" he asked, "Quid enim dicit?" Agrippa held up a telegram and said, "Tecna Republika velit statuere commercia. Etiam in te invitem coniungere Entente etiam. Optimus!" Caesar puzzled over the message. "Dic mihi, quae utriusque huius novimus "Entente"?"
"Non multum, Caesar. Et virtute magna sunt plerumque solum foedus est contra nos. Preterea, domine mi, pauca scimus." Caesar grunted his understanding before walking to a map of the world. "Admiral, ne classi Misenensi, ut Syday. Operae pretium foret futurum dilatatio locum regionis." Agrippa looked at the map before saying, "Sed Caesar." He then stepped back, snapped to attention, extend his arm parallel to the ground and said, "Fortitudo et decor! Romam!"

After the short yet terrible infection, many took it as a sign that Himmler's reign must end, or else all will be lost. Furthermore, the Order was able to deploy the info about Himmler's warcrimes, thus, the people now know that Himmler killed Adler, and wanted revenge. Officially, voted by the Reichstag, Himmler has been ousted from power, and now masses of armed civilians, SA soldiers, and the regular army now swarm to take Himmler into custody, and most likely, execution.

Only the DSG, now revealed is actually a company of mercenaries loyal to Himmler, using the DSG as a stage name, stay loyal to Himmler. Now, DSG Soldiers and New Berlin Occupants fight in the streets, but Himmler won't give up that easily. Soon, he abandoned his entire loyal cabinet, who had taken refuge in his palace, and soon he was able to escape, unnoticed, to the New Berlin Port. He was wearing his Royal Aristocratic Clothes. Around the port was DSG Marines, from the naval section of the DSG.

He boarded his private warship, the IWN Bemuhen (use google translate), an converted 100 Gun Man O' War, now fitted with a steam engine. It beared Himmler's Coat of Arms on it's flag. He was escorted by 2 advanced steam frigates, the Black Devil, and the Westerwald. Soon, they shipped off, the plan was to regroup in the colonies, where an expedition would be made to the new continent of Allinium.

They set off. (This could be an interesting time for let's say an Arengin or Rannorian vessel to intercept? After all, Himmler is technically no longer Fuhrer, hint hint.)

The 14th fleet was sailing off from Riga and was making a daily cruise Around Khazak. For a long time the Arenginian navy had been scoping around the seas for pirates as well as any contraband like illegal weaponry or merchandise. Despite some incidents with Traansval ships, as well as some Skatean it had been pretty effective doing its job. Another thing was the ever growing Manticorian naval force, which Arenginian naval forces had strict protocols and procedures to follow if ever confronting a flotilla, a vessel, or fleet from the Manticorians. It was ever so tense in the sea.

The 14th soon arrived to the Stratovar port for rest however a few ships were left in open sea for patrol. One of them was the Reliko a medium size, but heavily armed destroyer which was commanded by Captain Travik, a rather meticulous man but he was respected by his men. The Reliko was still at open sea, calmy cruising not to far from Warglorian coast. Captain Travik was enjoying his daily newspaper. Suddenly an officer entered te room.

"Sir we have 3 ships coming out of Wargloria, they are coming in fast and don't seem to stop!" The officer stood straight as the captain put down the paper. He caressed his mustache and then got his cap on.

"Well what are you waiting for. Call the Danilov and the Eskilov and set a block on the ships. I'll be up soon."

The officer saluted and went up to the command deck. He sounded the alarm and all sailors went on to battle positions. This was a common practice from Arengin naval ships. Any foreign ship in a suspicious speed or odd look was subjected for inspection. Most nations understood this since it had help to deal with illicit activity, others not so much.

A message was sent to the other two destroyers in the area, they began to set a blocking formation for the incoming Warglorian ships as well as preparing guns. The Reliko then blocked the path of the three ships. The ships guns aiming at them. Sailors also preparing the light cannons and their rifles as well.

The warglorian ships had nowhere to go as the other two ships approached close.

"This is the Arenginian navy. 14th fleet, issuing an order of inspection. Prepare to be boarded." Spoke the loudspeaker.

Classis Misenensis had arrived off the coast of Syday. The torpedo boats had reported seeing a fleet of Manticoran warships to the south, about eighty ships, entirely cruisers and destroyers. Admiral Agrippa ordered his fleet to engage the Manticoran force while the transports offloaded Legio X and Legio XX, alongside two dozen Auxiliary cohorts, on the Northern coast.

About six hours passed and Admiral Agrippa could see the Manticoran ships 30 kilometers away. Each of his forty four battleships had six 11 inch guns and eight 10.5 inch guns, more firepower than the entire Manticoran force. At least, if intelligence reports were accurate. The Manticoran cruisers only had two or four 10-inch guns and the destroyers only had a 3 inch gun. This meant the Romans could shell the Manticorans from 20 kilometers, 2 kilometers further than the Manticoran guns. Agrippa ordered his ships to fire. For the next several hours, the two forces would pound each other. The Manticoran destroyers didn't last long, as a single shell was enough to completely destroy it. However, they did manage to close the distance enough to launch a couple of torpedoes and the cruisers had the opportunity to offload their torpedo boats. After seventeen hours of fighting, about twenty Manticoran ships sailed south, almost all of them cruisers.

On land, the Roman force was making camp. 10,240 pedes were building the fort that would house the nearly 30,000 strong force. Legate Marcus Varro, commander of Legio X Fretensis, and Legate Valerius Maximus Corvinus, commander of Legio XX Valeria Victrix, met with the commanders of the auxiliary cohorts and the tribunes assigned to the two legions. Varro spoke, "Legati, tribuni, centuriones, habetur causa. Videtur, quod Manticorans percussit nos. A Caesare nostro sunt. Nos temperare Syday. Sed his rebus animadversis, nescimus aut amplitudo. Et, Decurio Silva, volo ad primum equitum speculatoria operationes. Reperio Manticorans, inveniet quot et quanta iactatio est. Quamprimum referre." The officers saluted and most went away. Corvinus stayed. "Corvini molestum'st amicum?"
"Varro, ut nos castra, vere et hic? In litore? Fode in Manticorans occasionem damus. Insinuat quod Intelligentia auctorum fere aequalis in dignitate defendere. Numquid non deneges quaerebant occasionem?"
"Tu es numquid sapientiorem et similem fiduciam Corvinus. Si esset mihi, et quid eligam ignoro oppugnare. Sed ineptum est, cum hostem ibi non sunt. Oportet invenire possumus impetum tulerunt. Et sciendum quod Manticorans possit esse fode."

Part 2, The Interception
Himmler sat down with a cup of tea, awaiting the travel to the colonies, then to Allinium, where he shall create a new Reich overseas, and one day, retake Wargloria. This was the idea anyways, he did not expect to have revenge in his life time, but perhaps one of his descendants would honour it. He thought of the glory of his New Reich coming down from the heavens to strike at the old, and retake their homeland, but his thoughts were disrupted by an officer, who looked very worried.

"Mein Führer, 3 Arengin Warships have decided to stop us, how shall we react Mein Führer?" The officer asked. "Nothing must stop us from reaching the colonies, send them a message, tell them to get out of the way." Himmler said. "Jawol." The officer replied. Now you might think , why doesn't Himmler allow inspection? Because in the IWN Bemuhen is a large cargo of arms and secret documents, and since these documents were top secret, and he did not have a permit to transport weapons, he could not stop.

The officer also got out a loudspeaker. "Arengin vessels, zis fleet us under the protection of ze Democratic Senatorial Guard of Wargloria, und ze Himmler cabinet as well, stand out of ze way, or else be moved by force." Soon, the Bemuhen loaded out it's heavy cannon, glimmering the the sunshine, the Westerwald and Black Devil did the same. "Entschuldigung, it's just.....good business" Himmler said.

Vice Admiral Rhodes mentally kicked himself for the third time since the end of the battle. He knew better. You don't take cruisers and destroyers against battleships. And now something like six thousand men were dead. Hundreds more were wounded and he had lost all but five of his destroyers and he had 14 cruisers left. He called the commanders of his surviving ships to his cabin. "I want the destroyers to sail for Cambrea with the civilians. Tell the Admiralty that we have been attacked and require support. We will attempt to hold on as long as possible but I doubt we will survive another battle."

Within twelve hours, the destroyers sailed for home. With them went two transports, carrying the children and pregnant women of the colony. The rest had refused to leave their homes and instead took up arms. The Island of Syday was their home and if some Latin speakers wanted it, they would have to pay dearly first.

Captain Travik arrived to the command deck, where the officer was arguing with the Warglorians over the loudspeaker. "What in the bloody hell is going on officer?" He asked.

"Sir the Warglorians wont comply. They say they are part of some sort of Democratic Senatorial Guard... I went on the books and this is some sort of guard to protect Himmler himself..."

"Himmler was outset recently, he no longer poses any power. Give me that." He took the loudspeaker from the office. The Danilov and the Eskilov began to route position to the sides of the Warglorian ships, now surrounding them. The destroyers weapons aiming right to the ships.

"This is Captain Bruno Travik. I order you to stop and comply to the inspection or you will face consequences!"

The Warglorians ships began to advance steady onto the Arenginian destroyer, hitting its hull. Suddenly the Warglorians began to open fire, the captain and his men narrowly avoided the incoming bullets. But the sides began to take damage.

"Dammit... Open fire!" the captain yelled.

"Open fire!"

"Open fire!"

All three ships began to fire their cannons at the Warglorian ships. Wood, and metal pieces flying everywhere as the Warglorians took massive damage from the powerful Arengin guns.

Brigadier General Simon Bloch stood next to Admiral Adrian Rhodes. Next to them was the senior Marine officer, Brigadier General (officially Colonel) Thomas Howell, who commanded the eight Marine regiments that had landed ahead of the colony expedition. Governor Andrew couldn't help but notice the stark contrast of the three officers. Bloch was tall, dark haired, and bearded. He was a soldier in his prime. Rhodes had the air of a broken man. Who could blame him? He'd just lost fifty ships to the Romans. Alone of them was General Howell. He was barely thirty five, the youngest of all of them. The three officers were filling him in on their situation. "It's not good, sir," General Bloch said, "From what our scouts report, the Romans have about 30,000 men. Maybe even 40,000. We only have the 18,000 men in my division and 22,920 men in General Howells Marine force. Admiral Rhodes has 15 armored cruisers, five of which are severely damaged and the other ten have some form of structural damage. It will be at least another week and a half before the destroyers reach Manticore and a month after that for the Admiralty to gather and send a force to relieve us. Our only hope is to remain as far from the coast as possible and dig in."
Admiral Rhodes remained quiet. General Howell was the exact opposite. "WE MUST GO ON THE OFFENSIVE! The Romans don't know our strength. We know theirs. If we strike now, we can force them to retreat back home."
It was here that Rhodes spoke, softly at first, "General, please. You don't understand. If we attack, we have to contend with their fleet. We don't have that kind of firepower. No, I agree with General Bloch. There is a ridge in the center of Syday. If you can take that position and dig in, you can protect the civilians and cause heavy casualties on the Roman infantry while being safe from their battleships. I will try to make some headway on their fleet, though I doubt it will be much help."
Governor Andrew rubbed his chin and studied the map. "I'm going to agree with General Bloch and Admiral Rhodes. I'm sorry, General Howell, but I cannot authorize an offensive against a hostile force that we, honestly, know very little about. If we dig in, we have an opportunity to survive a siege. As long as we can hold out for two or three months, the Empire will return for us."

At the end of the week, the colony relocated to the Ridge, which had been taken three days earlier by the Marines. Once the civilians arrived, they assisted the soldiers in fortifying the hilltop. The officers were all quite confused. The Romans had done nothing for a full week. Why they were waiting made the generals more worried than if they had attacked them as they moved.

Northern Syday

Legate Varro and Legate Corvinus sat together in the large headquarters tent, studying a map of the island. Corvinus pointed to the ridge in the center, saying, "Exploratores iugum hoc loco referre suscepimus Manticorans hic et fodientem. Non recte habere loco onagri possunt pertingere." Varro looked at the ridge and nodded. Corvinus was right. If the Manticorans could dig in on that ridge, then the 105mm and 120mm howitzers they had wouldn't have the elevation to reach the Manticoran troops. In addition, scouts reported that there were 40,000 Manticoran soldiers on that ridge and about fifty thousand or more civilians, most of whom had rifles. "Ut video, Corvinus. Donec non satis nos oppugnandos uenirent milites quidem. Iugum et nimis abest oram classe oppugnare instituit. Mitterent Romam petere debemus cum accessione circum iuga ne quid habent copiarum recessum." Varro knew he needed more men. He had 10,850 legionnaires and 24,960 auxiliaries, a total of 35,810 men. 120 machine guns, 60 field guns, and 60 howitzers supported the soldiers. He called another man in and said, "Primamque ratem tergo nuntium available. Generalis est dicere baculum requirimus accessione duo saltem plures adesse nostram." The soldier saluted and ran off to find a messenger to deliver Varro's request. Varro returned to the map and muttered to himself, "Hoc autem fieri non putarent. Hoc putatur summa incruentam malint. Mithrae Dominus lux nobis benedictionem tuam. Per gratiam contumeliam meam. Per gratiam aquila contumeliam."

Part 3, the Betrayal and Downfall
Soon, the battle started, the Bemuhen unleashing it's 50 gun 110 mm broadsides, but was taking serious damage. However, for some reason, the Black Devil and the Westerwald weren't firing. "Vat are those idiots doing?" Himmler demanded, but soon, what he saw, horrified him. The Black Devil and the Westerwald loaded out their guns, but instead of firing on the Arengins, they turned around sped towards Himmler. They soon took down the DSG flags, replacing them with the old Warglorian Naval Flag....under Adler's Reign.

Himmler was confused, "No one had known about the travel unless.......no, but." Soon, Himmler realised, the flags, the info, it was clear: Adler lived. Soon the 2 frigates bore down beside the Bemuhen. "Mein Führer, both sides are ready, awaiting your command to fire!" The officer said. But Himmler simply stood there, as if he was paralysed. "Orders, Mein Führer?" The officer said, now a bit worried. Soon the 2 frigates were right beside the Bemuhen, and the order to open fire was signalled on both frigates.

Soon, the Bemuhen was spattered by heavy guns in point blank range, wood splintered everywhere, everything blowing up. "ORDERS? ORDERS MEIN FÜHRER?" The officer shouted. But Himmler simply stood there, seemingly unresponsive. And to tell you the truth, he was impressed by Adler, how he survived. Suddenly, 2 more officers came. "Mein Führer, what do you command?" One of the officers shouted. But Himmler simply said 4 words: "It's just...........Good Business." Soon, the Officer was petrified by this reply. "ABANDON SHIP!" The officer shouted.

"ABANDON SHIP!" The other officers started shouting. "ALL HANDS, ABANDON SHIP!" The original officer screamed out while jumping off the ship along with the helmsman. Himmler simply stood there wandering, while wooden splinters filled the air, and panicked crewmen ran on the deck, either being blasted away or jumping off the ship. There was so much pressure, that even the main mast collapsed. Himmler started walking down the Bemuhen's stairs, as the area behind him started to turn into splinter.

One step at a time, he remembered his life journey, his escape from the Maxtopian genocide, his adoption into a Warglorian Aristocratic Family, his first battle, his first political position, his first orders as Führer, and one step at the time, his sins started to catch up to him. He soon arrived on the main deck, and walked a few meters, and before the fires consumed him, he said a few words: "I have failed you, masters of the Rising Sun, but let my sacrifice not be in vain, we must.....stop......Adler." Suddenly, there was a fiery ball, and it was no more, Himmler was dead, burned by the sins, that he knew, would catch up to him....

The crews of the Westerwald and Black Devil started cheering, and started chanting 2 words: "HEIL ADLER! HEIL ADLER! HEIL ADLER! HEIL ADLER!" All over and over again. Soon the DSG crews were fished out of the water, and along side the Old Naval Flags, they raised white flags as well, showing that they did not want to fight the Arengins.

A parade of Red Army troops was happening in Goldrush, the new III Corps had arrived in Goldrush and were making their way to the front on the Goldrush border. The citizens, who had been indoctrinated by the SRA, waved them on cheerily. The soldiers waving back and exchanging flowers and gifts with the civilians. They had obviously not received word from the burned villages. The Entente may be signing peace, but the UESR (Union of Eodorian Socialist Republics) was not going to accept peace terms unless they were slamming on the Volgan leader's door. And the Red Army soldiers knew this, and would keep fighting no matter what.

The Admiralty in Manticore had been stunned by the news. They were certain the attack would come from Skarten or Arengin, not Rome. How in the name of the Gods did they allow this to happen? It didn't matter. The First Battle Fleet, commanded by Admiral Sir Walter Hughes, was ordered to sail for Syday, along with the airship Hellfire. Three days behind them would be a group of transports carrying five tank divisions and ten motorized infantry divisions, escorted by BATFLT 1's destroyers. They had little knowledge on the strength of the enemy fleet and even less on the composition, though the remnants of Admiral Rhodes' task force suggested at least thirty battleships. Admiral Hughes own force had just received its first Dreadnought and they had been forced to leave before they could receive the next few battleships, leaving their number at a mere 21 battleships and 112 armored cruisers. Almost all of his battleships, 18 of them, in fact, were the old Revenge-class ships that had been in service for nearly 15 years. Two were from the new Agamemnon class and the last one was Dreadnought class. If the Romans were, in fact, as strong as reports suggested, his battleships would be outnumbered two or even three to one. "Order the men to battle readiness. We are almost guaranteed to find ourselves in a shooting war in the next few days so I want them running battle stations until we get to Syday."

The first new force, led by Legio I Adiutrix and Legio I Parthica, had arrived and was setting about making camp. Legates Junius Brutus and Gaius Ostorius met with Varro and Corvinus. Varro saluted the newcomers and said, "Legati, salutem. Profuturum spero deos iter?" Brutus and Ostorius returned the salute and Ostorius replied, "Salutem. Etiam dis utilissima. Tranquillo maria caeli constet." Brutus looked at Corvinus for a moment and said, "Legati, qui foeda laceratione unde vos?" Corvinus brought his hand up to his face, feeling the bandage and then smiling."Manticoran tormentis. Et onagri sunt foeda paulo buggers. Brutus nodded his understanding and called his tribunes over and gave them orders to lead the legion over to where Legio X and Legio XX had dug in. Ostorius did the same.

(A couple of issues. First of all, Eodor has made it clear that he still considers the two of you to be at war. Secondly, the only way you have 30 ships in four months is if they are all, essentially, dinghies with machine guns. And, also, Syday belongs to me.)
