To end your suffering, yes, as you were to be attacked by many. Are we to still meet? If so, we should meet in Norcourt.

The Manticoran Empire wrote:Admiral Hughes and Admiral Rhodes had joined forces two weeks ago and had been searching diligently for the Romans when they received a telegram from the Hellfire. The Roman fleet was 67 kilometers southwest of Syday and steaming back north. Hughes and Rhodes had the perfect opportunity to cross the T. As long as they sailed west, they could intercept the Romans with their full broadside being brought to bear.
The fleet sailed for nearly five hours, before a lookout reported spotting the Roman fleet. The only problem was it was NORTH of Admiral Hughes, not SOUTH, like it was supposed to be. The crews had been at battle stations, ready to engage an enemy on their starboard side. Now they had to rotate the main batteries around to engage the enemy that was now on their port side. Hellfire was overhead, returning information to the Flagship. The Romans were 22 kilometers out. Just within range. "Main batteries, fire at will."
The roar of the mighty 12-inch guns could be heard back on Syday.

The Traansval wrote:The Manticoran Empire wrote:(Actually, he can. Firearms are easy to produce. We've been doing it since the 13th century. World War 1 Germany managed to arm and feed 13 million men with only the resources of Germany.)
By a vote of 2/3 in the Commons and near unanimity in the Lord's, the Manticoran Empire has withdrawn from the Imperium. The Warglorian Empire has proven to be unpredictable and unnecessarily aggressive in dealing with other nations. As such, the Empire cannot constantly risk open war and has severed military ties with the Imperium. From: Chancellor Henry, Head of the Office of Foreign Diplomacy

Now that your Esteemed Empire has left the Imperium, the Traansval would like to establish a Non-Aggression Pact between Manticore and the Entente Alliance, to keep the peace between our two powerful sphere of influence.

My good Sir,
I will first apologize for the substantial delay in our response. My father and I have been kept quite busy visiting territories and dealing with domestic issues. As such, this message has only just come to my attention. After a discussion with my father, we have decided that we will accept a non-aggression pact with the Traansval.

Supreme Chancellor,
I hope this finds you well. While I would not describe our expansion as "massive", it is true that we have expanded significantly. Your request has been considered and I am happy to say to you that I have agreed to the terms of Non-Aggression between our nations.

The Senate and People of New Rome wrote:Admiral Agrippa took stock of his losses. The fighting had cost him one battleship, five battlecruisers, eight armored cruisers, 15 light cruisers, forty seven destroyers, and 56 torpedo boats and the retreat had cost him two more battleships, three battlecruisers, an armored cruiser, 12 light cruisers, fifteen destroyers, and the last of his torpedo boats. "Cornelius, quae sunt daemonia Manticorans. Fuerint, quam a nobis, et nos uti posse maiores testis. Si habent amplius naves mox perierint. Reliquis mortiferis recuperare classe mittere Ravennas. Et forte non male idea ut suo exercitu. Si deficit etiam in maiore periculo erimus." Cornelius nodded and the orders were passed. A few hours later, the remaining few destroyers had been sent back to Riverside. Agrippa walked to his quarters and pondered his apparent defeat.
On land, the Romans were shocked by the Manticoran assault, not just its ferocity but also the early start. The artillery attack was something they had not come under during this war, as the Manticorans on the ridge only had field guns, which did little against the earthworks the Romans had built. Unfortunately for the Romans, the heavier howitzers had much more powerful shells, which cratered the earth and smashed the Romans earthworks. Thousands of soldiers were killed outright or buried alive during the nine hour barrage. When the Manticorans charged after the barrage, the Romans were further shocked by the roaring metal behemoths rattling towards them. One soldier, a third year Legionnaire from Legio XX, cried out, "O caritas de Mithrae, comitum, faciat fugae, ne frangatur, ita ut multi formicae!" A Centurion, after trying to regain order, looked at the tanks that were now beginning to shell the Roman positions and shouted, "Pedicabo!" before trying to climb over his earthworks and join his soldiers in flight. There in front of him was a horseless wagon, with a machinegun on top and soldiers throwing bombs. The bullets ripped through his tunic and he collapsed in a heap back into the ditch he had tried to escape. His body was mutilated by the exploding grenades, just as dozens of other soldiers were killed or maimed.
On a hill six kilometers away, Legate Varro and the five other Legates watched in horror as their carefully crafted siege works melted away into a disorganized melee of soldiers, animals, and machines.

I agree. You may come and we can discuss the terms. No big escorts or big battleships, I already went through that once.

King Oswyn,
I hope this message finds you well. I write knowing full well of the tension between our nations of late and hope that my request can be the start of a lessening of said tensions. What I am requesting is a mutual pact of Non-Aggression between our two nations. Please respond as soon as is feasible for you.
