Nation Maintenance
"These are threads that are intended to catalog various events that might not be appropriate for a multi-author role-play or that might benefit from the short form but all are intended to focus on building and displaying the character (and characters) of a NationState." - Sunset
This thread is, of course, closed for anyone other than myself. The main purpose can simply be described in the above quote, however I may try to add my own twist to it. To make it unique and not only focus on the individuals of the nation I will perhaps add the status, history, and future of the state and all the etc. There will be grammatical errors and such, so bear with me. Have fun reading if you came here to do so.
The Beginning
Highrose 649 AD
A few Nilfgaardian soldiers pushed the shackled man forward within the thrones room of the palace. His seemingly lavish clothing was covered in blood as his body was dotted in bruises and gashes. The man then wiped blood from the tip of his mouth and kneeled before a woman sitting on her throne. Near her were several intimidating men that looked quite battle-hardened. The palace surrounding them was in ruins. It seemed quite large as to accommodate a large amount of nobles. Outside you could hear the peasantry rework on the exterior. The beaten up man looked up toward the crowned woman and finally mustered a sentence. “Your Highness. So nice to finally see you.” He said in a patronizing tone. The women stood up from her throne and walked down the steps toward the broken man, “Sir Ravyrd, the last surviving bloodline of House Maar. Decades ago your family slaughtered an entire council and murdered my grandfather. In confidence they ruled over people that despised them. Now everything your house has built is now in shambles.” Ravyrd gave off a bloodied cough. “Well, I suppose you wish he be put in the dungeon with the rest of the usurpers. Your Imperial Highness?” A Nilfgaardian officer suggested. The crowned women looked at Sir Ravard with a face of disgust. “Have him executed. As with the others, they await trial to Nilfgaardian law.” Several soldiers nodded and took Ravyrd away. The noble lady sat back into her throne, looking as if she was tired of these trivial chores. She looked onward toward the entrance that beamed with blinding light from the sun. Her emerald colored eyes reflected the sunlight, highlighting her soft-rosy face. A strand of her ashened silver hair fell near her right eye. The palm of her hand rested upon the side of her cheek. It looked as if space and time stopped all around her, capturing a perfect image.
This woman was Rosalyn Arcelia Issouvyr, her family’s background came from a multitude of imperial and royal houses that stretch back from Old Alyria, the Roszerian Empire, to Nilfgaard and Cirilla. A background that any nobleman would kill and die for at the time, however she particularly seemed not to like it. She was a curious and adventurous child. Her father was apart of a group of veteran nobles originating from the Commonwealth's Winged Cavalry - the Myrviicsii. Rosalyn seemed to be more keen on travel adventures with her father and them than squabble at the royal formalities bestowed upon her as a infant. As a young child she spent most of her time in the imperial courts of Nilfgaard with her mother. During that time, her father had mostly been away dealing either with the quests of the Myrviicsii’s or the Emperor’s. It wasn’t until she reached adolescence that her father finally stayed back with her and her mother. Rosalyn has begged her father to teach her the ways of the Myrviicsii. At first her mother and father refused as the steps of becoming one were not easy and worried it would hurt her. However, to much of the mother’s dismay, Rosalyn’s father had begun to teach her under the moonlight. At that time Rosalyn learned the trials and tribulations of becoming a fierce fighter like her father. Even other members of the Myrviicsii had trained her. Taking her along their journeys far and wide, putting her under their wing as well.
The Myrviicsii formed shortly before the establishment of the Cirillian Kingdom in 602 A.D. Where Olivaar Issouvyr, Rosalyn’s grandfather and a revered Councilmen of Cirilla, was murdered with the rest of the council. Lord Giiradyn overthrew the commonwealth and instituted a single kingdom. The head of each noble house was a councilmen within the Commonwealth. Giiradyn was the head of by far the largest house, House Maar, and levied a large amount of soldiers. Although House Maar was considered to be the largest and strongest, it was House Issouvyr that was quite respected and most influential among the people and nobles. Throughout the previous years, Lord Giiradyn had coerced, intimidated, bribed and even murdered other nobles to gain even greater power. All of this did not go unnoticed as two defining sides formed within the council between House Issouvyr and House Maar. Lord Olivaar powerhoused a decree that created the Myrviicsii as an act against Giiradyn’s rising power. Each and every noble part of the Myrviicsii vowed to relinquish their ties to their houses swore to fight for the Crownlands(Cirilla) as a whole. This was perhaps the first time Cirilla had its own standing army. Giiradyn did not take this likely as this decreased his military influence. After he assassinated Olivaar, Giiradyn banished the Myrviicsii from Cirilla. Olivaar’s wife and their son, Valyr, narrowly escaped death with the help of the Myrviicsii commander. Sir Aalmyn of Krilledge. Sir Aalmyn was a commoner that was brought up by Lord Olivaar. Owing much of his life to him. It would be him that would train one of the most infamous and well-known Myrviicsii of all time, Valyr of Palmyra.
The Myrviicsii traveled into Nilfaard and built a new stronghold there, where others took refuge from House Maar. Valyr and his companions would carry out various type of work, bringing the Myrviicsii a notable reputation among the powerful and nobility. The work itself had varied but nonetheless were similar in the sense of ridding away problems with a sword. It had gotten to the point where the Nilfgaardian emperor took interest. He, like many, heard stories of the Myrviicsii and very much respected them. One particular job Valyr had done was to escort the emperor’s daughter. It was then when Valyr and Princess Mariin had met. After many encounters, they both had slowly fallen in love. Princess Mariin unfortunately became more sickly throughout the years after she birthed Rosalyn in 626 A.D. Her eventual death led her brother, Emperor Lucsairys IV, into the Nilfgaardian throne.
Valyr and the rest of the surviving Myrviicsii wouldn’t deal with House Maar until riots and rebellions increased. Sir Ravyrd, a competent military commander and part of the Maar nobility, had sent mercenaries to kill some of the Myrviicsii. It was then when Sir Navlynn of Alba, the Myrviicsii commander, supported the War of the Crownlands. As the Myrviicsii began to build large support, they were met with violent clashes from Maar loyalists. With the help of Emperor Lucsairys IV, Nilfgaardian troops and ships flooded into the Cirillian Crownlands. Although his help required the condition of having Rosalyn rule Cirilla. It was a smart proposition as he failed to produce any heirs, leaving Rosalyn as heir to the Nilfgaardian throne as well. After the defeat of House Maar, Rosalyn was proclamated as the first High Queen of Cirilla as all Cirillian nobles pledged their loyalty to her. Her eventual rule as Empress began the Restoration of Alyria.
