A Crisis in Algeria (TMF ONLY!)

Postby SP Rebellion » Fri May 20, 2016 5:27 pm

OOC: I will just assume that large NPC which occupies part of Algeria and Mali be referred to as Algeria.

IC:

SPian Ministry of Defence,
South Paris,
France

May 19th

General Carré, alongside Minister of Defence Zacharie Leavitt and Minister of Intelligence Géraldine Seyrès gather behind closed doors to discuss a proposed military operation.

The Minister of Intelligence speaks up.

"Monsieur, as you know SP has been wishing for control over the nation of Algeria, primarily to extend our oil supplies, but also secure our border to the south from the increasingly volatile African nations, who despise of our colonial presence in the area."

"Yes, luckily for us," says the Defence Minister as he fumbles for some papers in his briefcase, "The Government of Charleston has proclaimed that they will back any African nations from attack, but with the implosion of their government quite a while ago of course, this opportunity gives us a large advantage to carry out our plans."

"Yes, and if you have any doubts as to the plan, monsieur, we are way ahead of you. We do currently have a trade delegation and embassy staff in the nation, and we can use this and our unfriendly relations to justify a casus belli. As you know, the staff we currently have in Algeria are very pro-Hunterian, despising of our governance......so I assume they shall not be missed. Anyways, we have a force of about 20 spies in Algeria, who even a while ago under the old SPian government we have managed to sneak into the Algerian army ranks. They will carry out a massacre in the embassy, and we will blame it on the government, and declare war."

"I like the plan. I'll order it through." says General Carré as he proceeds to begin the operation.

May 20th

At the SPian embassy to Algeria, the SPian ambassador was asked to make a televised conference over recent trade figures to the nation, to be broadcasted on some SPian TV channels. Despite hating the current anti-Hunterian SPian government, SPian Ambassador Maximilien Pasquier followed orders from SP. He had tried several times to defect to Gallia, but never managed to get the opportunity as the SPian Embassy building was guarded like a hawk, and sneaking out would be impossible.

Finally, at noon, he begins his conference. Him and the 19 other SPian embassy staff look on as the conference goes on as normal.

Outside of the Embassy

A 10-man team, comprised of members of the SPian Intelligence, lead by SPian Intelligence Colonel Abdullah Quadri, all dressed in Algerian military uniforms and officially part of the Algerian military stand outside and prep for their operation. Finally, a representative of the SPian government arrives, knowing the plan, and orders the guards away from the embassy. As the guard leaves, the team moves into the embassy.

The team takes up position behind the ambassador making the conference. Finally, Colonel Quadri gives a motion with his finger, and the team rushes in.

The team open fires on the staff, killing the ambassador and the 19 others, before yelling the Algerian motto, and running away. Viewers in SP are shocked, and the camera crew in the embassy panic and run for their lives.

SPian Prime Minister's National Address

General Carré walks on stage with a look of anger and sadness at the same time. The SPian people, having seen the viral video of the massacre, are angry and demand the nation does something against Algeria.

"My people....

The cowardly Algerian government has assassinated our ambassador and all of our embassy staff purely out of cold blood! Our ambassador was making a conference inside the embassy, broadcasted on television, when several members of the Algerian military open fired on the ambassador and his staff. This is simply unacceptable! And to make it worse for the Algerians, we have it all caught on video, undeniable proof of Algerian action!

After a discussion with the SPian Military Council, the SPMC has unanimously voted for war against Algeria, and so it shall be. At this time, we are declaring a state of war with Algeria. We will only accept unconditional surrender of the Algerian government for an act of this caliber, and the massacre of innocents...

POUR LA NATION, POUR LE PEUPLE, NOUS BATTONS!"

Algerian-SPian Border

Despite having somewhat neutral relations in the past, SP has always kept a force of 10,000 men along the Algerian border, mostly for routine border enforcement. However, now that the nations are officially at war, the SPian border troops would fire across the border into the Algerians, and hostilities would commence.

Ghardaia, Algeria

The SPian 14th African Army rushes into the city and begins the battle with Algerian forces, in an urban warfare setting. About an hour into combat, SPian air support arrives and begins bombing enemy army positions.

Tonka, Mali

With the city being much smaller, SPian border troops rush into the city, and begin firing at whatever resistance they incur. Although for them, air support was not availible till the other battles had terminated, and they only had a few tanks, although they rest nonetheless sure they can take the Algerians on.

Gadamis, Algeria

The SPian East African Army, comprised of less then 5,000 men, begins rushing across the border into the city. It was important for them to push as far as possible from the East, to push to the Algerian capital in the hopes of capturing it.

Markith has released a statement following the crisis in Algeria, "Hunteria is opposed to this war that has no purpose but to further expand Spian borders. Hunteria will be hosting peace talks to calm the situation down. Hunteria has also begun preparing peacekeeper forces should the conflict escalate."

Markith phoned the Spian leadership. "If i have to, I will stop you from expanding again. You have 48 hours to pull your troops out of Algeria or peace will be enforced by the armys of Hunteria."

General Carré would phone Markith back.

"This is just further proof Hunteria supports genocide and killing. No, we will not pull out of Algeria. We will avenge our lost ambassador and 19 others, and their families who must now mourn, because of the Algerian government. The fact that you feel that this is simply a border expansion mission proves that you do not care about rogue governments, who very well could turn around and kill your ambassador aswell, non?"

OOC: Since NIB resigned as MoRP, and I am the map maker and already have control of the NPC's, I shall play the part of Algeria:
POSTING AS ALGERIA

Presidential Palace, Algiers, Republic of Algeria

The tired President Abdelaziz Bouteflika sits stunned in his office at the Presidential Palace. This attack on the SPian Embassy, and this sudden invasion have all come out of the blue. He never ordered any attack on SP, and his generals sure as hell didn't either. Now, there are 19 dead SPians in an embassy in his country, and SPian border forces are currently engaging what little Algerian units that are stationed on the border.

"General, what is the situation?" President Bouteflika asks as he runs his hands through his short graying hair.

"We estimate that there are around 12,000 SPian border troops that are currently assaulting into Algeria. There seems to be two prongs of the attack, a force of around five, or six-thousand has attacked Ghardaia, while a force of equal strength is attacking Gadamis." General of the Army Ahmed Gaid Salah responds. "We have an infantry regiment in Ghardaia that is resisting the attack, but the enemy has brought in bombers, and our troops wont last long. In Gadamis we have a force of around 3,000 soldiers that are resisting the attack quite well, I have ordered the Air Force to aid Gadamis with what planes they have available."

"General Salah, I give you full permission to dedicate our full armed forces for the defense of Algeria. Do not let these invaders in, and I want a full investigation into the embassy attack." The President says wearily as the General leaves the room with a nod.

Ghardaia, Algeria

With the rapid speed of the SPian incursion into Algeria, the 13th Infantry Regiment that is stationed in Ghardaia, was caught completely by surprise, startled soldiers, many still in civilian clothing, fight the SPian troops with what is at hand. Many of the soldiers are equipped with old Ak-74s, and the heaviest weapons in the regiment are only a pair of 80 mm mortars and couple heavy machine guns. To make matters worse, around 300 soldiers of the regiment have deserted or neglected to show up at the armory to equip themselves. Thus, around 900 brave souls of the 13th Regiment stand their ground and wage a guerallia fight against the SPians, holding up in police stations and the armory, making the invaders pay for every building gained with blood. Though, with the arrival of SPian air support the situation is hopeless. What soldiers that are not mauled by SPian air support, and are not gunned down by advancing infantry, surrender to the enemy. The defenders of Ghardaia put up a good fight, but all that remains is a couple hundred scared, dazed and confused soldiers that are shocked by the sudden war that has engulfed their town.

Gadamis, Algeria

The 3,000 strong force of the Ghadami Brigade are in the same situation as their brethren in Ghardaia, caught completely off guard, and ill prepared. And much like the 13th Infantry Regiment, half equipped soldiers take up positions in buildings and do what they can to stall the SPian attack. The Ghadami Brigade is better equipped then the 13th though, and soon the Brigade's company of T-80BV's are put to use and begin to engage enemy targets. A flight of Su-30MKA's from the Algerian Air Force even manage to make a showing, strafing enemy infantry that was caught out in the open, and bombing enemy positions.

Tonka, Mali (Algeria)

Tonka lies undefended, the small force of SPians that enter the area would meet virtually no resistance, though several Algerians take pot shots at them with old hunting rifles.

The Algerian Armed Forces numbers just under 800,000. The Army is by far the largest force, equipped with more equipment and decently well trained soldiers. Numbering around 460,000, the Army maintains a reasonably large armored and mechanized force with three armored divisions five mechanized, supported by five infantry divisions. Strength in these divisions is around 20,00. These 12 divisions are further augmented by independent brigades and regiments that are assigned to protect certain cities and towns, such as the Ghadami Brigade. The Army makes large usage of T-80s, T-72s tanks and BMP armored fighting vehicles, as well as several Leopard 2A5 main battle tanks that were bought from Florence. The Air Force is very modernized, and makes a wide use of Su-30MKA's and Dassault Mirage 2000Es. The Navy is also reasonable equipped, it operates ten Kilo-class attack submarines, along with several modern frigates and destroyers. The Algerian Armed Forces is a well equipped, modern fighting force that can hold it's own against SP for a while, but not forever.

President Bouteflika in a speech addressed to SP and the rest of the international community;

I first want to begin this speech by giving my condolences to the families of those who were killed in the embassy massacre in our capitol city of Algiers. This massacre is a terrible tragedy that was committed by cowards who gunned down the innocent diplomacy of SP. Now, SP has blamed Algeria for this attack, and has thus invaded our nation. I want to say, that this assumption that Algeria order the attack on the embassy, is completely groundless, Algeria would never order an attack such as this. We are a peaceful nation, we are people that respects all and loves all, this attack was not done by Algeria, we would never commit such as savage and brutal act. I ask SP to immediately withdraw their invading forces, so that my nation may focus on catching the barbarians that murdered your people, instead of defending against invaders.

Palais Élysées,
South Paris,
France

As potential for a resolution against SPian imperialism, the threat of a joint investigation into the matter at hand is near to commencing, and the communist uprising, General Carré begins to make preparations for the worst. He issues an order to find the ten agents before the Algerians can, and have them airlifted to SPian territory, so once an investigation begins they turn up empty, meaning only Algeria can be left to blame.

In the meantime, SPian troops are ordered to halt their advance and hold their current position, only to fire at the Algerians if they fire first. This is partly due to exterior tensions, and aswell as the African detachment of SPian Communists pushing towards their positions.

Algiers, Algeria

Two helicopters of the Algiers Helicopter Service, one of the few of such companies in the country, are discreetly cloned by SPian Intelligence. Two clone helicopters, set to look identical to their actual counterparts down to the registration numbers on the tail, depart Algiers International Airport. They tell ATC they are doing a charter flight to Rendanska, but have to land to pick up their customers, first.

SPian Airforce pilot Jacques Larousse flies his helicopter over the rooftops of the city. Having been the pilot that had evacuated Nikolai Werder from Theonatium, he had experience flying rescue missions. Alongside him are the two other helicopters.

Finally, the helicopters pull up to the building in question. Gently touching down on the roof, the SPian agents and their immediate families pile in to the helicopters. The doors close, and the three helicopters are out and on their way. The citizens of Algiers below look on as the three helicopters fly to the north.

As the Algerian ATC hands the helicopters off to the Rendanskan controller, they switch frequencies before shutting off their transponders and banking left towards SPian Africa.

Algiers, Algeria

As three helicopters from the Algiers Helicopter Service (AHS) touch down on an apartment complex's, several amazed onlookers film the bizarre scene with their handheld phones. Helicopters touching down on rooftops is something that is very uncommon, and this sort of charter flight would be more likely to take place from the Algiers Airport or from one of the AHS's helicopter pads, not the rooftop of a building. With such a questionable pick up done by the helicopters, the citizens are left perplexed when the choppers leave. One of the video takers, who captured a video of the helicopters picking up their passengers from his apartment complex which is a direct neighbor to the building where the pick-up took place, decided to act on his suspensions and hand the short video over to the police. After analyzing the film, the police are quick to turn it over to the Département du Renseignement et de la Sécurité (Department of Intelligence and Security). After a quick DRS investigation of the film, they find that one of the customers seen in the video, Abdullah Quadri, who is also in the Army, was absent without leave during the terror attack, and several videos gathered from survivors of the attack appear to show Abdulla Quadri as one of the terrorists responsible for the attack.

With this information in hand, a team of DRS agents and soldiers from the Special Intervention Group storm the building where the Algiers Helicopter Service choppers landed in order to further the investigation on this terror suspect. While the building is stormed by the military and Intelligence Service, the police question the AHS about the flight of three helicopters from Algeria to Rendanska. The President of the Algiers Helicopter Service stated that this company did not have a flight scheduled for that day, all helicopters were grounded. Whatever AHS helicopters that were operating that day, were not apart of the Algiers Helicopter Service.

OOC: SP you are going to have to tell me what the DRS agents and special forces soldiers will find in the building, any spies will have to have some form of communication with their handlers, not to mention the weapons they used in the attack, so something like that, unless they took it with them or left it in another building or destroyed it

SPian Ministry of Defence,
South Paris,
SPian France

As the non-stop terrorist attacks ravage SP, and the potential for a diplomatic situation with the nation of Gallia, SPian PM General Carré decides the situation needs ending with Algeria.

Months ago, SPian forces in Algeria held their current positions, occupying less than 10 kilometers past the border. Camps were set up, mainly nearing the outskirts of larger cities, and SPian forces quietly idled. However, the anticipated incoming investigation never really came to immediate light.

Unknown Location,
SPian Sahara

5 SPian Agents meet up in the middle of the desert. At this location, lied a secret SPian military airstrip, with basic amenities for aircraft. A while later, the haze of the desert in the distance would be broken by a sight of a SU-30. SPian Intelligence had captured this aircraft a long time ago and kept it in secret storage, mostly to analyze it. Less than 50 people even knew of it's existence.

The SU-30 would lower it's gear, and touchdown on the sand-strip. By the time it would stop, it's tires would be two inches deep in the sand. The SPian Agents bring out their paint-kits, and begin working at painting the aircraft thoroughly to look like an Algerian fighter.

A full day later, 2 of the agents would board the fighter alongside the original pilot. The pilot would slam the throttle to full, and the aircraft would power its way down the strip, finally rotating near the end.

Ghardaia, Algeria

In the outskirts of the city to the south, would lie an SPian armed forces camp. The forces fighting in the battle, before the order to halt took refuge in the camp. Patrols would be non-stop, making sure the Algerians would not be trying to launch a counter-attack.

A spec on the horizon, overflying the city would appear. SPian anti-aircraft guns, numbering two at the particular camp, would aim up towards the aircraft. The cameras on the barrel of the AA guns, used to help anti-aircraft men to find their targets better, would begin recording the aircraft coming right at them. Seconds later, the Algerian markings would become apparent, and the aircraft identified.

Warning shots would be fired as the aircraft got close, but that did not deter the pilot. The pilot pitches down towards the camp, and fires the aircraft's two missiles.

The missiles crash down on the barracks, destroying 3 buildings, and lighting them ablaze. Almost 300 SPian troops in the barracks would perish from either the explosion of the blaze afterwards.

Seconds after the missiles impact, the fighter would try and get away, but AA guns would obliterate the aircraft. The right wing would be destroyed, and the engines would explode.

The wreckage would continue on for about 700 meters, and crash into the ground, with the full tank of fuel pretty much destroying the remains of the aircraft.

The SPian Government is informed of the attack by courier, and an SPian soldier publishes the video online. The video goes almost instantly viral, and now the protesters at La Grand Palais call for retribution for the attack, aswell.

OOC: Continuation post tomorrow.

POSTING AS THE MINISTER OF RP
President Bouteflika's speech to his country and the international community;

Soldiers, Sailors, Airmen, Guards, and citizens of Algeria, your great nation needs you. Our borders have been invaded, our cities bombed, and our people slaughtered by our greatest enemy, SP, and their brainless side kick, the UCR. They have blamed a terrible tragedy on our nation, a cowardly terror attack carried out by traitors to this country and to man kind for their senseless act of brutality committed on innocent persons. Now, SP and the UCR have done to our nation the same thing the terrorists have committed to them, senseless bloodshed and horrible acts of brutality. We have tried peaceful measures to end this conflict, but we have been given no response. SP's message to our nation and that to the world is simple, they wish to subject us like they have done to much of Africa, to the Basques, and what they also wish to do to the Gallians. They wish to destroy our history, our cultural, our economy, and our people.

But, the people of Algeria are a stubborn and proud people, we will not be trampled by the will of tyrants. Our brave men and women in the Algerian Armed Forces shall resist this evil invader that threatens our very livelihood. Not only will the enemy be resisted by our steadfast Army, Navy, Air Force, and elite Republican Guard, but the whole of the nation shall resist their encroachment. In every city, every village, every alley way and every house, there stands a brave defender of Algeria. We will not falter, Algeria has stood the test of time since before the common era, we shall resist these evil imperialistic powers till they leave our lands. The brave people of Algeria will never surrender!

Tammanrasset, The People's Democratic Republic of Algeria

Immediately following the President's inspiring address to the nation, brave Algerian soldiers, rallied by patriotic fervor, launch an offensive against the UCR force in Tammanrasset. A mechanized division, spearhead by a tank brigade, around 25,000 soldiers take part in the attack. The initial phase of the attack is marked by concentrated artillery and mortar fire on the UCR positions, whose supplies and support must be stretched thin, as they are a long way from their home in South Africa. Following this, T-72's, and new M60-2000 main battle tanks purchased from Florence, along with BMP2's and BTR-80's, all supported by eager infantry, storm the ancient city. With superior numbers, and firepower, it would seem that the Algerian offensive to recapture Tammanrasset would most likely succeed.

Gadamis, Algeria

A similar offensive to the one in Tammanrasset would be launched to retake Gadamis from the SPians, though this would be done with much less troops, an infantry brigade, reinforced by Algerian irregulars armed with a wide array of small arms, mainly Kalashnikovs, launches an attack to push out the enemy. This attacking force would aid the Ghadami Brigade and their company of T-80BV's in pushing the SPians back to the border.

In both Gadamis, and Tammanrasset, the attacking Algerians would be aided by Su-30's multi-role fighters and Mig-23MF fighter bombers, which are on standby to intercept enemy aircraft and hit enemy hard points with ordnance.

The offensive on Gadamis and Tammanrasset is a dramatic change in President Bouteflika's strategy at dealing with this crisis. While he has attempted peaceful measures at resolving the conflict by asking SP to stand down, after the entry of UCR into the war, and in light of the recent Hunterian Truth Crisis, he has seen it fit to openly engage in hostilities with SP and UCR and wage an offensive war. Both Gadamis and Tammanrasset must be captured, while the city of Ghardaia would begin to be surrounded by Algerian forces.

The overall strategy for this war will be a defensive one once SPian and UCR forces are expelled from the border cities, from there defensive preparations will be made, along with fall back lines. The President knows that he may not be able to win a pitched war with SP and UCR combined, but he can easily win a long term insurgent and guerrilla war. With patriotism and nationalism on the rise, many happy young educated Algerians will eagerly give their lives for what they see as a progressive democratic government for the people. For years he has been holding back the extremist Muslim populations of his nation, in an attempt to westernize and modernize. This did not sit well with many Muslim extremists, whose view of the President's regime would be tarnished. However, given the option between him and being ruled by the French, they would happily wage a war against the French to remain Algerian. Even if these extremists don't want to live as an Algerian or as an SPian subject, they will still be a thorn in the side for SP. This will not be an easy war for SP and UCR, even if they destroy Algeria's military.

Gadamis, Algeria

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4K1q9Ntcr5g

Following the attack on their positions, as SPian Armed forces lick their wounds, patrols staring down the Algerians would be more intense. The SPian 14th African Army, comprised in total of 65,000 men, mostly from the SPian African Republics, would be delivered a series of rousing speeches from different SPian Generals. It was their time to raise their arms and defend the Empire's borders to the east, and stand up for SPian values and their countrymen back home.

As the silence of the desert would be broken by crackles of Kalashnikov's, SPian troops would take position defending the road leading to the SPian border. Lines of sandbags would be laid on either side of the road, with dozens of Czech Hedgehogs bloacking the road itself.

Behind the first line of Defence would lie a series of dug outs for SPian tanks, and a fallback sandbag line.

As the enemy would begin firing, in very traditional means of combat, the bands of each regiment would join together behind normal combat, and proceed to play La Marseillaise, SP's national anthem.

Flag bearers fly SPian flags, as each soldier rises up from the sandbags and fires a volley of anywhere between 5-10 shots from their FAMAS F1 or HK416 rifles, towards a concentrated area of Algerian troops.

SPian AMX Leclerc tanks would take pot shots at infantry and buildings in the city, but the real damage was to be done by SPian bombers, being deployed from bases in Marrakesh.

A contingent of about 13,500 SPian troops leaves the base, and proceeds to attack the city from it's left flank, skirmishing enemy forces.

Tonka, Mali

After the city had been secured and residents who incited violence by firing at SPian troops had been arrested and carted off to jail, SPian forces could advance. It was decided Mali needed to be secured as soon as possible, as it would offer the least resistance and best positions for yet more attacks.

SPian forces begin moving through the country towards Timbuktu.

Prime minister John
John would be on his private plane when he would get a text message saying their positions would be attacked after a while of silence. John was expecting some type of retaliation would happen so he texts back and tells his government to activate plan delta. The plan would activate a response force of 30,000 soldiers and 60 M1A2 Abraham battle tanks and 20 supply trucks full of ammunition, health kits, and some emergency rations. John would also command his air force to bomb the enemy artillery using 10 F-16 fighters and 10 A-10s.

Tammanrasset
The reinforcements would arrive after 17 hours. They would see about 5,000 soldiers left with low ammunition and supplies. The reinforcements would rush into action securing positions and pushing the enemy back. The tanks would open fire and pound the now outnumbered enemy. They start redistributing the supplies and tending to wounded. The UCR soldiers would go from the edges of the city and push the enemy all the way back to the city center. The soldiers would look up and see 20 planes flying over head. The A-10s would open fire their massive guns on the enemy artillery. Enemy response fighters would appear starting dog fights with the F-16s. 3 F-16s would be downed but the F-16s protected the A-10s well enough where none of them would be downed. The air raid would take out 10 artillery canons. With this recent turn of events it looks like the battle would be leaning in the UCRs favor.

prime minister John
Prime minister John decides to decisevly hurt the Algerians John understands that the president is only a danger to the invasion while he is alive. He might become a legend when he dies but his tactical ability will be lost. He decides to send his special forces ECM In to assassinate the president. The ECM have been trained so intensively many people wouldn't make it through the training. The first week of their training they only get 2 hours of sleep each day. The first week they are sent into the desert with pistols and 2 bottles of water for each man they stay there for the rest of the week and have to learn how to survive. The second week they are taught jiu jitsu and Kung fu in the rain. The third week run 300 miles the whole week. The fourth week they are taught advanced shooting in the fog. The fifth week they are taught pain tolerance and medical aid by being shot and stabbed then having their piers heal it. The sixth week they are made to build their muscles with weight lifting up to 340 pounds and doing 4,000 jumping jacks. The seventh and final week they are taught more hand to hand combat.
algeria
The ECM make it to Algeria and go undercover making sure no one knows their there they are in the capital of Algeria they hope the president is where their intelligence said he is they make their way towards the capital build and rent a hotel and making up a plan on how to assassinate the president.

Console David seeing the Algerian war cooling decided it is now or never that peace can be wrought.

To the SPian leadership
Seeing as how the Algerian crises has cooled we wish to establish a peace that both our nations can be happy with. We view that this is the best time to start working toward peace or else a very real possibility of the conflict escalating can happen. This is a crises point in which the UCR-Hunterian war has come from, and the current escalating conflict in North America. So we must end this war before more such conflicts happen, for how much more can the world take before it is into a World War? While we may not understand the pain your people had to go through seeing the terrorist attack. We wish to prevent even more pain and hurt that this ugly situation has caused. Now many people are dead and hate has sprout around the world because of it. Now we have a chance to end this very ugly hateful mess, I truly believe you wish to put this chapter in history to rest. For keeping it seething has allowed its hateful presence to spread. So Wusmeinia representing the League is offering these terms to peace.

1) Algerian borders shall return as before the conflict
2) SPain investigations into the attack will be allowed to happen, and they shall be allowed to arrest such people behind the attack for trial in SPain lands. Of course it needs to be proven beyond a doubt that they where involved.
3)SPain military forces shall leave Algerian Sovereign territory within two weeks.

While this may seem simple and many people and Governments may want it to look different. I believe this is something in which everybody can agree to.
