Dark Space Rising: The Battle Of Wicca (RP, Open, OOC)

Postby Widgetalia » Tue May 03, 2016 8:34 pm

The Hive, using the unique radioactive energy being emitted from Wicca, the planet of sorcerers, as a beacon to reach the new world they seek to conquer, sent a massive invasion force to the location of the mysterious planet. Upon landing on Calchas, the ice covered moon of Wicca, Ruzon of Many Forms, a duplicitous treacherous humanoid shape shifter, struck a pact with the Barbarian Elves, the pointy eared native of Calchas that desire revenge for the humiliating defeat they suffered one hundred thousand years ago. Forewarned by Charon the Purple, the head of the order of Tiresias, of the arrival of the Hive, the warrior clans from which the sorcerers recruit youths with magical potential and the magical orders that recruit from the warrior clans have banded together as a massive army. The Great Winter, an ice age that occurs during the Conjunction of Anticlea, an event during which the shifting of Wicca's gravitational poles causes the atmospheres of Calchas and Wicca to merge for one thousand years, has engulfed the planet's surface. Three armies have assembled on the plains and highlands the Wiccans call home. The Battle of Wicca has begun.

Backstory:

1. No godmodding or trolling.
2. One character per player. You cannot play as characters you created in other RPs without permission from the OP.
3. Factions (magical orders, warriors clans, and the Hive invasion force) are reserved for CO-OPs and the OP.
4. Your characters are not immortal. They can be killed.
5. You can reference the events of another RP so long as it does not interfere or contradict the lore.
6. All backstories have to be at least one paragraph long.
7. All weapons used by characters are restricted to the technologies used by their culture (every warrior that is not a member of the Bearskin Clan uses weapons and armor forged from bronze while the Dark Elves use weapons and armor forged from well tempered steel. The Bearskin Clan uses weapons and armor forged from iron).
8. This RP ignores Dark Space Rising: Flarbinian War. Therefore, any continuity from that RP does not apply to this thread.
9. NPCs can be used by any player unless it messes with the story.
10. All sorcerers, regardless of which magical order they belong to, are limited to 7 spells (4 lesser and 3 greater) and 2 rituals a day. All combat spells require a staff or wand to be used. Non-combat spells do not require a conduit and can give characters belonging to magical orders that specialize in non-combat spells an advantage in battle if used correctly. Rituals require meditation and preparation.
11. No PVP combat between players on the same side (Wiccans cannot fight Wiccans and the Barbarian Elves cannot fight the Hive). However, the Hive have the option of abandoning its the Barbarian Elves to their fate if they are losing too many battles.

Bearskin Clan Bio

Postby Widgetalia » Wed May 04, 2016 7:12 am

Image
The strongest and most dangerous warrior clan in Northern Wicca, members of the Bearskin Clan are a force to be reckoned with, especially during the Great Winter when freezing temperatures and migrating animals force them to migrate to the plains. Being more proficient hunter-gatherers than their neighbors to the south, this clan has survived in the forests near the Wicca's northern pole since humans have lived on Wicca. These bloodthirsty berserkers are proficient at using battleaxes and the Order of Pyromanius often recruits their sorcerers from this clan. The Bearskin Clan's greatest triumph was smashing the Barbarian Elf army at the Battle of the Sturmgrad Fields one hundred years before the first sorcerer ever laid eyes on the Well of Hecate, the sacred lake from which all magic on Wicca flows and all acolytes must drink from in order to become full fledged sorcerers, a feat no other clan has ever been able to accomplish. Their heraldic banner is a bear biting a shield in half.

Horselord Clan Bio

Postby Widgetalia » Wed May 04, 2016 7:31 am

Image
The only clan on Wicca that can use Calvary, the Horselord Clan dominates the southern hemisphere of Wicca. The Horselord Clan is notorious for using hit and run tactics to weaken their opponents before mercilessly slaughtering them without hesitation, pity, or remorse. These nomadic horse archers may be savages, but even the sorcerers cannot deny that the magical orders would not exist if it wasn't for the support of the Horselord Clan. The Order of the Storm recruits from the Horselord Clan due to their reputation for destroying their opponents with brutal efficiency. Their heraldic banner is a horse devouring a flayed corpse.

Iron-Breaker Clan Bio

Postby Widgetalia » Wed May 04, 2016 11:58 am

Image
Having earned their name at the Battle of the Halberd River, this clan specializes in siege warfare. The Iron-Breaker Clan is better equipped for attacking strongholds than the rest of the clans and their near-impenetrable fortresses drew the attention of the first sorcerers, for these magic users were too few in number to defend the highlands through sorcery alone and their wealth was enough to convince the Iron-Breaker Clan to build the massive keeps needed to protect them from invaders. The Order of Boreas recruits their initiates from the Iron-Breaker Clan due to their cold and calculating pragmatism. These warriors live in the equatorial region of Wicca and their fertile lands make them the primary targets for invasion by the other clans. Their heraldic symbol is a giant standing on top of a destroyed castle with a hammer in one hand and a screaming king in another.

Announcement For Players And Aspiring CO-OPs

Postby Widgetalia » Wed May 04, 2016 12:08 pm

The clans I have listed are the big three, the strongest and most powerful warrior clans. The reason I did not list the other clans was there were simply too many to name them all and give them all backstories. If a CO-OP decides to claim one of these unnamed clans, they will be allowed to give them a name and backstory, provided that it does not contradict previously established lore. Additionally, characters belonging to minor magical orders such as the Order of Illusionists and the Order of Conjurers can be from these minor clans instead of being rejected by the major magical orders.

Fire Magic: Description, Spells, and Rituals

Postby Widgetalia » Wed May 04, 2016 4:02 pm

A dangerous and volatile force of death and destruction used by sorcerers that prefer raw power and brute force over cunning and tactics, fire magic leaves nothing in its tracks but ashes and embers. An acolyte can create a greater fireball that can shatter a phalanx while an archmage can create a tornado of fire that turns the battlefield into a barbecue. However, fire magic sacrifices defense for firepower and takes a higher toll on the mind and body of the sorcerer using it than other forms of magic. If you want your character to be a powerful sorcerer, fire magic is the best choice for you.
Greater spells
Tornado of Fire
Magma Wall
Fireworks Dragon
Melting Backhand
Lava Monsoon
Fiery Gaze of Torment
Greater Fireball
Explosive Sun of Searing Doom
Lesser Spells
Lesser Fireball
Magma Storm
Fiery Gesture of Agony

Storm Magic: Description, Spells, and Rituals

Postby Widgetalia » Fri May 06, 2016 9:19 am

Combining lightning and thunder into elegant and precise attacks, storm magic is not as powerful as fire magic or ice magic, but its effectiveness makes up for its lack of strength. An acolyte can kill a heavily armored opponent with a lightning strike while an archmage can destroy a full battalion of great warriors with a volley of thunderbolts. Storm magic is the best form of sorcery for sorcerers with a flair for the dramatic.
Greater Spells
Thunderbolt Volley
Energy Ball
Lightning Javelin
Thunder Punch
Lightning Glare
Greater Thunderbolt
Lesser Spells
Lesser Thunderbolt
Lightning Strike
Thunder Fist
Rituals
Hurricane

Accepted. Fire magic is notorious for creating mood swings that cause hallucinations, so his "banishment" could be a self-imposed exile for causing the death of a woman (who appears as his barbarian elf lover in the "vision") during a magical duel (participating in a battle that occurred centuries before they were conceived is one of the more common hallucinations) with a member of the Order of the Storm (who would have been mistaken for a Barbarian Elf army during the hallucination).

Ice Magic: Description, Spells, and Rituals

Postby Widgetalia » Sat May 07, 2016 6:45 pm

A form of magic that is used for defense, sorcerers that use ice magic sacrifice offensive strength in order to become near invulnerable. This emphasis on withstanding wave after wave of excruciating punishment makes ice magic the perfect tool for more tactical minds to whittle down their enemies before closing in for the kill.

Spells/Rituals (if sorcerer): N/A
Psionic attacks (If neither): N/A
Likes: Women, booze, hunting, and fighting
Dislikes: Barbarian Elves, cowards, and traitors
Backstory: The greatest warrior to be born to the Bearskin Clan, Lepidus the Strong began to expand his clan's territory beyond their forests, destroying any clan that stood in his path and splitting the spoils with his chieftain. At the Battle of áin ríki, his army smashed a legion of the Iron-Breaker Clan's best warriors, only to turn back after the Iron-Breaker Clan began to hold up in their fortresses. Angered by the perceived cowardice of the Iron-Breaker Clan and itching for a fight, Lepidus marched his warriors towards territory belonging to the Horselord Clan, ignoring the Iron-Breaker Clan's fortresses. Unlike the other clans he faced, who either formed their army into a phalanx or charged into his shield wall, the Horselord Clan harassed his army with coordinated hit-and-run attacks. However, this did not deter Lepidus the Strong from marching his army deeper and deeper into the territory of the Horselord Clan, every army they encountered being slaughtered to the last. As he was about to attack Feurach cridhe bòidhchead, the capital of the Horselord Clan, the Order of the Storm appeared and demanded that he leave. Realizing that he could not defeat the sorcerers gathered before him, Lepidus reluctantly ordered his army to march back to Bearskin Clan Territory, disgruntled and melancholy at being denied his prize. However, the recent Hive invasion has given him the great battle he had longed for all his life.

Barbarian Elves: Bio

Postby Widgetalia » Sat May 21, 2016 1:09 pm

The Barbarian Elves are pointy eared savages that, from the beginning of their bleak existence to its bitter end, fight amongst themselves for territory, resources, and slaves. However, in the months leading to the atmosphere of Calchas merging with the atmosphere of Wicca, champions from every Triad (tribe) will converge in the Forbidden Valley of bones and fight each other in a battle royale where only the strongest can hope to survive, the lone survivor taking the Crown of Horns and Antlers from the Cavern of Wisdom and placing it on their head. When the newly crowned Tal'kar'eshiek (High King)returns to his Triad, every other triad will bend the knee and swear fealty until either death or defeat ends his campaign of conquest, their warriors forming into legions for the duration of this uneasy alliance, the Tal'kar'eshiek leading this warriors from the back of the his tundra scorpion, referred to as a castle on legs by the few biologists that managed to come home from their expedition to Calchas. The Wiccans, despite defeating the Barbarian Elves and slaying Tal'kareshiek for generations, were unable to drive them back to Calchas until the Allfather united the people of Wicca against them.
