Napoleonic Era War (OOC/Interest/Ideas)

Postby The Unified Isles » Sat Apr 30, 2016 10:01 am

Greetings !

Me (The Unified Isles) would like to host a Napoleonic Era Military RP... Though I ain´t really sure what to do yet precisely. Ideas ?

The RP would play in the era from 1775 to 1825 and probably feature on large conflict. I would personally approve of a mixture between Personal RP and Tactical/Strategic RP. Not so perfect writing is no problem :)

Side A - Rebellious
Rebellious Nation: ???
Mercenary Support: Selkie ???
Kustgebied

Side B - Coalition
The Unified Isles - European Theatre
Tierra - European Theatre
Senegalboy - Middle Eastern Theatre
Byzantine Empire - Middle Eastern Theatre

I for one take great interest in this. Also, if this will be kicking off with a revolution, the Unified Kingdom will be having none of that nonsense, and will be taking the side of the faction currently in power to keep the status quo...

As a note, i would like to ask about the inclusion of 'the Bane', a form of functional magic that links every living thing together in the setting my nation comes from. Officers in my nation must be of literal Noble birth, and all nobles are baneblooded, being able to sense the presence of others, with the obviousness of such presence increasing with the number of people present. For example, a group of one hundred men laying in ambush among some buildings would be obviously spotted by the officer of the unit they intended to ambush...but the same ambush, taking place in a forest, would be as hidden to the officer as much as it would the standard ranker, the bane of forest life (as in the animals and the forest itself) obscuring the bane of the men within.

And no, this functional magic can't be used to sling fireballs all willy nilly, even something as simple as chilling a glass of wine would take a moderately powerful bane caster (something witch is almost as rare as a peasant being born with banesense) and the aid of at least fifty carefully placed wax seals in a pattern to pull of, even a good sized explosion would take around three hundred such seals (give or take) and two to three hours to set up, and anything like the weather (ether rain washing a seal away or heat melting it out of shape) could ruin the pattern, and anyone else with banesense would be able to easily identify the trapped area as a pattern set to explode

And with that out of the way, i would be perfectly fine with tossing it in favor of a totally non-magical setting, since it doesn't change my nation's military at all to go with out it, sans the heavy cavalry's armor being more for show and their sabers being no better at cutting a man in half then any other

Jolly good, everyone loves a good cavalry charge, some jaeger/light foot skirmishing, and nothing wraps up a good day like fixing bayonets and giving the enemy a good charge to speed them on their way

Although I´m a hardcore fan of Cataphrak too, please don´t use the bane... It is OP

Good day,
I would be interested in this as well. The Selkie pride themselves with a long tradition as mercenaries, especially as cavalry mercenaries, and it would be fun to finally establish it ICly. Excellent dragoons, hussars and lancers up for the taking by anyone paying the price.
Either that, or I play pirates and raiders and bandits, Selkie as well, but not only more aggressive, acting indipendendly and only out for loot, not political objectives - and they could be utilized, when someone is willing...
I play PT, MT and a bit FT. I am into character-RPs.
My people are called the Selkie, the nation is usually called the Free Lands in MT-settings. Thanks.

I like this idea. I'm willing to join when it's ready. It should be a little bit realistic (no 1,000,000 armies across Russia and hope God sends them food and water).
A nation focused around carriers and a strong navy and its airforce, as well as developed heavy industry. In incidents, tries to solve them diplomatically, militarily if no options are left. Everyone is welcome to our glorious empire. It is proudly socialist. This policy has been adopted in 5:29 PM, July 13th, 2016

I would like to play in the Coalition. I will be primarily in the Middle Eastern theatre. Anatolia is Middle Eastern?

I would propose three: Europe, with everything it entails, North Africa and the Oceans.
Maybe we should split Europe into sub-theatres (Spain, Russia, etc.), but that's for later.

When do we start?

As soon as we have some one to rebel (I might create a puppet to do that... though)

Why an actual map of Europe and not a fictional version? It would allow for a far more interesting roleplay in my opinion.

I'm interested in this.

Meaning that we take a map of the world, squeeze our nations in there and maybe edit it a little bit around to fit in with fictional geography we came up for our nations. (So that we can also include nations that are not based on real geography)

Anyway, which role would you like to play ?
