Cobb Island: Z Hour +48
The entire population of Cobb Island, over one hundred million people, now lies dead just 36 hours after the first incidents of infection were reported by the international media.
The corpses are still fresh and ripe with disease. Crows and other scavengers occasionally pick at the corpses, seemingly unconcerned or immune to the mysterious virus that had transformed men and women into bloodthirsty cannibals and killers before they themselves died from the infection.
Overall a dreadful silence hangs over the island. Where once there was life, now there is nothing but death and stillness.
And a feast for crows and rats…
What will the international response be?
Rules:
The role play will proceed in phases. Please don’t jump the gun until the next phase of the story begins.
Phase I: Diplomacy and Planning. Quarantine the island or colonize? If you opt to colonize, who will be doing the colonizing? Who will have jurisdiction over the island?
Phase II: Exploration: Small teams are sent to the Island. Can be for treasure hunting/looting, scientific inquiry, laying out plans for a colony. Biohazard disposal, whatever.
Phase III: Resolution: Either the island is colonized, quarantined indefinitely, or somehow destroyed.
Dangers:
Any skin to skin exposure with infected bodily fluids can result in transmission of the virus and zombie infection. Once infected, a person will become a fast moving zombie within minutes. (See movies 28 days later or 28 weeks later for reference).
Though unconfirmed, there is at least the possibility of animal to human transmission of the virus.
Not all of the infected may be dead…satellite images show no movement, but it is impossible to confirm.
Locations:
Dockyards: Only real port of entry. The island has no air strip. Abandoned ships and warehouses line the dockyards.
Downtown: High rise skyscrapers, tall apartment buildings, fine restaurants, and all of the other features of a modern metropolis. Satellite photographs show that is mostly still intact, but some fires continue to rage out of control.
National Stadium: A small baseball stadium that was used to shield the populace from hurricanes and care for refugees in times past.
Presidential Palace: Presidente Gusto’s luxurious palace, modeled after Saddam Hussein’s palace.
