Gyrjachi Nuclear Arsenal Targeted! Millions Dead!

Image

Article by Frėja-Astrïed Lindaukwist

We are just receiving news that three nuclear explosions have ripped through the city of Skatara, Gyrjach's second city. With much of the city obliterated, it is to be assumed that no less than 2 million, possibly even 3 million people may have died. Brigadier Edwaard Klöjscherhaage, a spokesperson of HIM's Ministry of Military Affairs released the following statement:
Image

"This morning, Gyrjachi time, their cowardly armed enterprise that constitutes their military attempted to transport three nuclear weapons through the city of Skatara, using the population as a human shield in order to deter us from targeting the weapons. This however, was no deterrence for us, as we knew that such weapons would be used on our own people. Therefore, it is with a heavy heart but no reservations, that I announce that Krïdan air assets successfully targeted these weapons and destroyed them. Unfortunately said weapons had been armed and the subsequent explosion also resulted in three separate nuclear detonations across the city, wiping out most of it. Due to the fact that this occurrence was of their own governments doing, we are still going to carry out a retaliatory strike."

Hundreds of thousands of Gyrjachi citizens are fleeing into the countryside and away from the settlements to avoid risk of death, as it is the opinion of our military that we have not yet carried out our full retribution as of yet.

Good Fucking Grief! Well, I suppose it's better that the nukes killed them than us. Still, bloody hell!

How cowardly of their 'government', to use their own people as human shields! And stupid too, because now they've lost their nukes and their people.

Lies, we did this. Like Gyrjach could ever pull off acquiring nuclear weapons. In fact, I wouldn't be too surprised if we orchestrated this whole travesty to commit genocide on the Gyrjachi people. That freighter could have been stopped of had scrambled the correct assets quickly enough. This is just sick.

Like thunder, the sound of boots boomed through streets and avenues across the empire, shaking buildings. The barking of drill sergeants cut through the noise, the hum of vehicles accompanying the monotonous sound. Citizens who had not received mobilisation papers stood on the pavement, not quite sure what to make of it, though clapping and cheering nonetheless. Sprigs of oak leaves were pinned onto the left breast pocket of every soldier, and many had green and white confetti sprinkled on their uniform. People came out into the street, offering extra rations such as chocolate or cured meats to the soldiers. All dressed immaculately in urban camouflage combats, complete with body armour, helmet, rucksack and rifles, millions of reservist and regular troops were parading through their local areas, before returning to barracks, ready for deployment. It was the same for the navy, airforce and other military units. Motorways were now filled with military vehicles, lories carrying tanks, or APCs or mobile artillery systems. The skies were full of aircraft, ferrying troops and equipment, along with jets, gunships, bombers and helicopters.

Ösnauwglůjks Palace, Aastejk, Grand Duchy of Könjinslargen
All was abuzz inside the empire's military HQ. Staff officers scurried here and there, telephones rang, people shouting orders over the ever growing cacophony. Staff Marshall Hyūda Kōryiījong breathed out heavily, trying to maintain a clear mind, as it went into overload. Fleets, armies, logistics, strikes all flashed in his mind.
"Staff Marshall!" Exclaimed a minor staff officer, snapping his heels and saluting. "All requested naval assets have been contacted and are ready to converge on Gyrjach."
"Excellent. Inform Admiral in Chief Baron Leopold of Guurheimberg that he is to take command of the naval strike formation. Send him my compliments."
"Yessir!"
Hyūda turned to see an airforce General, flanked by two officers marking targets for the impending bombing run.
"Ah, Staff Marshall. The Gyrjachis are a bit thin on the ground target wise. We've located their only two military bases; an air base and a training camp. We've marked all major factories for bombing, along with several main raids, their government headquarters and their 'navy' which is still docked near Dhaikyr."
"Very good General, but leave their navy alone. I have a plan for that. When our strike force arrives, their navy will sail out to meet ours. Rather than engage it, we are going to use our sheer naval size to make it retreat back to the coast, in eyesight of their people. Then, we sink their pitiful flotilla of tin cans right in front of them."
The General grinned.

Department of Defense,
Kingdom of Aigéantir

Roslin O'Reilly had just finished talking with the Prime Minister and the monarchy, and with their IFC representative championing an IFC intervention, it seemed more likely that this situation that had begun swiftly spinning out of control, might actually be able to be saved. It wasn't surprising that Gyrjach experienced an attack, but for it to happen so quickly after their attack on Krjder, and the sheer level of the attack, would suggest more was at work than what the Krïdan government was claiming. They had used this event as a way to justify the danger Gyrjach was to them and others, but before they started hunting down those living in Gyrjach, it was quite clear that both sides needed to be stopped from taking this conflict further. While this meant IFC involvement, Roslin knew that they would be slow to move. The supplies had already been loaded, and as an old habit, Roslin had seen too the deployment of several ships, with accompanying troops should the situation become worse, and should the aid need to be protected to ensure it arrived at its destination. With the acknowledgement and acceptance of aid from Aigéantir, the troops were for all intents and purposes allowed in, however to be sure nothing rash was tried, she decided to send a message to the Krïdan government.

Our shipment of aid is en-route, and we took the precaution of sending escort alongside. While we are shocked and alarmed by the use of nuclear weapons in Gyrjach, we are attempting to remain neutral until an unbiased IFC investigation can be conducted to determine who was responsible for this heinous attack. In anticipation for what may be some time for a decision to be made, our forces entering your nation will be in a position to work in a peacekeeping role, so that further attacks may be prevented

Bloodshed in Gryjach yesterday, as several nuclear explosions devastated the city of Skatara! The Krïdan military reports that the nuclear devices belonged to the army of Gryjach and that they were detonated following Krïdan airstrikes.

If these allegations are true, it could mean serious problems in the future - Gryjach is widely believed to be behind the callous and tragic attack on Şiljitÿnkhyyrve Harbour earlier this week, which saw thousands of Krïdan subjects dead and many more injured. A rogue state with access to nuclear arms is a threat to all of civilisation, and the prospect of nuclear war is something that should be avoided at all costs!

As yet, the Brytisc Rede has yet to offer an official statement on the matter, but we encourage you to write in to your local Thegn and ask them to condemn the state of Gryjach. The actions of the Krïdan military in quickly and decisively removing this threat to law-abiding people across the planet are commendable, and we can only hope that they continue their fight to bring the Gryjach menace to its knees!

Such a sight had been dreaded by the long suffering Gyrjachi populace all their life, the sight of revenge, of retribution and of imminent defeat. Already today had that happened, though even many Gyrjachi wouldn't be too shocked to hear if their own government had blown up a city in order to frame someone else. No, instead they saw a far more ominous sight, simply faint blobs in the distance, but any grumbling peasant knew what they were. Materialising on the horizon was the 2nd Imperial High Seas Fleet.

Panic ensued in the little coastal fishing communities, dogs barked, children wailed. People ran both to and from the coast, either fleeing in senseless panic or hurrying, fuelled by curiosity. But then, a glimmer of hope appeared just along the coast.

NRJ Timi, Syaman Class Destroyer, south coast of Gyrjach
Admiral Bhattak shook his head in disdain.
"Cut the patriotic bullshit Captain, what are we in for?" Demanded the admiral, growling as the antiquated warship, flanked just over two dozen decrepit various naval craft crawled towards the approaching fleet.
"W-we don't stand a chance, A-admiral. They could have sunk this entire fleet before they even appeared on the horizon. I'm no expert on Krïdan naval tactics, but they'll no doubt launch an aerial assault on our fleet before finishing us off with cruise missiles or vice versa." Replied the captain, almost whimpering. The admiral stared out to sea, cursing under his breath.
"Call the fleet to battle stations, we haven't been sunk yet. If they intend to launch an aerial attack, lure them back to the coast. God willing, our coastal defences can do some damage before we all die."

TKMS Rijkkanzler Kasimir Jauchk-Katüschke, Katüschke Class Super Assault Dreadnought,
2nd Imperial High Seas Fleet, 40 km from Gyrjachi coast

Hands clasped behind his back, head held high, Admiral Wlachislaw Ówjećke stride up an down the bridge, a faint smirk on his face as he watched so e of the empire's finest vessels sail alongside him. They had spotted the Gyrjachi 'fleet' hours earlier on their OTH Radar, but following orders, had spared it thus far.
"Vice Admiral!" He suddenly exclaimed, making all on the bridge jump out if their aqua camo combats. Vice Admiral Gijslerhåven came skidding from the far starboard side of the bridge to the admiral, before snapping to attention and saluting.
"Admiral!"
Admiral Ówjećke also now had the other vice admiral; Ōtada Jyeungshiro on loud speaker.
"The time has come gentlemen. Send forth your naval assault craft, and give them Krïdan wrath at missile and gun point. Jyeungshiro, prepare a small flotilla of your Battlecruisers to finish off their floating tin cans they have the audacity to brand a navy. Tell commodore Oorgdähl, that I have neither the time nor the resources to deal with prisoners. Kill them all, or leave them to the sharks. There should be enough be enough Gyrjachi blood in the water to attract them."

The decks of the fleet's four carriers were abuzz as 20 LK-MA 32 Naval Assault Craft were launched. Low flying mechanisms, they were armed with torpedoes, anti ship missiles and chain guns. They soared into the sky, forming a loose arrowhead formation, whilst behind them, four Admiral Jungyésu Class Battlecruisers cut through the choppy waters at high speed, battle ready, in order to make sure that the job was finished.

12th Strategic Bomber Wing, 7,000 km above sea level, approaching Gyrjach
Wing Commander Yoshūda Hyugimori grimaced as he reviewed his targets. The Gyrjachi Republican Council, three power plants, two airbases and the army Headquarters. As they got closer, the first target presented itself, an airbase. It's soviet era flying machines all lined up. 30 60 kg bombs soon made short work of the runway, the hangars and all the aircraft quickly, as the bombers moved on. The Airwing now split, into two bomber sections, one headed for the capital the other for the remaining airbase and the two power plants.

Soon, all the targets had been levelled to the ground, and the bomber wing had fled as quickly as it had arrived. The wolverine had slashed again.

Starbucks, Aastejk, Grand Duchy of Könjinslargen
Uniformed personnel were not a rare sight in the Starbucks café, situated not a minutes walk from the HQ of the Imperial Armed Forces; Ösnauwglůjks Palace. Captain Florin Lindekwelle and Lieutenant Rijnhaart Wløjderhaal sauntered into the establishment, their light brown service uniforms smart, sharp and precise, shoes polished and they were reasonably handsome. Such was the appearance of the typical young Krïdan officer.
Florin approached the counter and wanted to be served.
"Hey, cutie, what do you want?" Coaxed a young barista, as she frothed up some milk.
"I'll have one skinny hazelnut latte and a cinnamon mocha with whipped cream please. To take away, as well."
"Coming right up!"
"You know my coffee order?" Said Rijnhaart inquisitively, as he rummaged through his wallet.
"Sure, and put that away." Florin demanded, waving his hand at Rijnhaart's wallet.
"That'll be 6.90 Kalijts, sweetie."
"Keep the change." Said Florin, winking as he handed over a ten Kalijt note. After they received the coffees, they headed out into the crisp autumn air. No sooner had they crossed the street, when suddenly four plain grey APCs screeched down the boulevard, the doors flying open before the vehicles had even stopped. Men, in plain black combats with no markings save an imperial eagle on their left arm, and combat helmets with visors and gas masks sprung forth towards the palace, all clutching AZB-32 assault rifles fitted with laser sights. A man, tall, superior and dressed in a slim grey three piece suit emerged from the organised swarm. In his hand, he held a Hw-55 handgun.

Rijnhaart's latte slipped from his hand and hit the floor, the plastic cup cover cracking and sending hazelnut coffee cascading into the street.

Nihonese eyes move on Gyrjachi.

OOC: I just want to state that I do not recognize Brytene, so I am asking that he an I keep away from each other in this RP. I do not want him to ruin my fun, and I bet that he does not want me to ruin his fun either.

*** Ishikawa, Nihon; 062137GOLFSEP15

Shogun Maki Kojiro was sitting in his room, reading the reports on the situation in Krjder and it's neighbouring counties. The word "nukes" appeared more than once. Kojiro smiled while reading the report from man known as "Tora", real name Ibuki Ryuta. The Nihonese Shogun took a snip of tea and performed a quick prayer with his eyes closed and head bowed as he was asking the Heavenly Father to give him strength to lead his people in those hard times. Was he afraid? No, he was not, and as loyal to ideas of Bushido, there was not a single time when he would be. But he relied on his God on everything, and Heavenly Father never failed, Kojiro was sure he was doing a right thing. With a smile on his face, he stood up and grabbed the phone.

At the same time, Admiral Date Shinji was in his HQ in Fujian, where the base of imperial Nihonese navy was located. Fujian, a growing city and home to major factories of Nihonese shipbuilding industry, was where Kaigun had their HQ. Takayama, an older man who seen conflicts on across whole globe, was now busy reading a reports when his phone rang. He took it up expecting another routine call from one of younger officers. Surprisingly, he heard voice of the Shogun himself:

"Shinji - san" spoke Maki through the phone with highly concerned voice "The time had come. Initiate OP zero one two. Bring honour to your country!"

Date did not had to be ordered twice. He was not a person that disobeyed his superiors. He quickly packed up and left the room, already forming Combat Order in his mind.

*** International Waters: 070325LIMASEP15

High above the surface, on the low orbit on the earth, something has turned. A gleaming body of the military satellite would be flying over Gyrjachi, taking a photos of the nation's surface, especially focused on locations of major Kridaj and Gyrjachi operational groupings, the same time as ELINT satellite will be flying over the same area, registering signals used by both sides. The gleaming body of the satellite was taking pictures and sending them to Ministry of War in Ishikawa, where Marshall Amakusa Shinzo looked down at them. Amakusa Shinzo, known also as "Tiger of An Nam" thus his duty was now to de facto focus on military matters. After consulting everything with Admiral Date, combat order was issued to the 4th Carrier Division, currently at the exercises.

In international waters a powerful Type 098C (Soryu) class supercarrier was swimming, part of the whole fleet which was on routine patrol on Furukuran ocean. On it, Rear Admiral Kobayashi Ryuta was sitting in his cabin, when he heard knocking on his door. After he entered the source to enter, in his doors appeared one of sailors, Lieutenant rank. Saluting him, he spoke:

"Ryuta-Daisho, urgent message from high command" his voice was moving, this probably has been something important. The admiral took his coat and walked with him. They left the cabins and entered the deck, where A10N and A18N were preparing themselves for new exercise. All around them sailors and pilots were preparing themselves for their daily exercises. After a short walk they reached the bridge, where lights of various computers lighted up the place like in some science fiction film. Another of officers saluted the admiral, and gave him a piece of paper. Ryuta read it with utter focus, and when he finished, he asked.

"Authenticate!" he ordered his crew.

"Match!" his crew responded after they confirmed. Though he was calmed down now, since this was only a security based operation. The carrier group was to be moved to international waters to "ensure safety of Nihonese state". So far nothing too threatening.

"All ships this is Kitsune zero actual, set course two zero three, over"

"Willco Kitsune Zero, steering aye, over!" responded the officers. The operation was on full go.

"Affirmative all ships, Kitsune Zero out."

Meanwhile, a broadcast was made by the Shogun:

All concerned parties about the Kridan Crisis,

Let it be known that Nihonese empire is deeply concerned about current international crisis happening in Gyrjachi - conflict that already had seen several examples of use of nuclear weaponry, and is, in belief of the Nihonese, threat to stability of entire region. Therefore, a carrier division was deployed on international waters and will be kept several hundreds of kilometres from Kridan and / or Gyrjachi territory to ensure safety of Nihonese interests in the region.

Please note that the Empire of Greater Nihon is officially neutral and DOES not declare support for any side at this moment; our purpose is solely to observe and keep watch on events happening in Gyrjachi so far.

Thank you, and may God bless you all!

I just want to point out that my fleet has been en-route in more than one post. I decided not to do a unnecessary conversation much earlier, as I didn't see the point. My arrival has nothing to do with warping in, but is more of a convenient timing. Also, on the topic of Star Wars, I've never felt so much like this applies to the situation,... well maybe Aravea.

1 x Camalus Class Battleship/Heavy Cruiser
2 x Taranis Class Fleet Carrier
- Each has 26 aircraft (AF-18 Nemain), and 32 helicopters (20 AU-60 Mider, 12 AU-1Y Oisin)
4 x Segomo Class Cruisers
8 x Sabrina Class Frigates
10 x Andarta Class Destroyers
20 x Unarmed Cargo Vessels carrying food, water, medicine, clothing, and emergency shelters.
5 x Passenger Vessels carrying medical personnel and humanitarian organizational staff.

Bridge of the ANS Morrigan,
Approaching Gyrjachi Waters,
First Fleet

It was Captain Seamus Rogers' first time in command, and he was surprised that he was given command of this mission considering the situation in Gyrjachi. and just how unstable it was becoming. Of course, it wasn't like Admiral Conwae to completely abandon him, and in fact the man, who was supposed to be retired, or at least working a desk job, was now sitting quietly behind him, drinking a cup of coffee, and staring off at something far beyond the shore in front of them. The rest of the room was abuzz with activity, and that's why Rogers felt that the Admiral's presence was more intimidating than of any concrete help. As the top of his class, and serving on the Morrigan, Rogers knew this ship as well as anyone else. She was an aging battleship, though more of a battlecruiser since the refit, and though she was supposed to be retired by now, there had been a snag in the production of replacement vessels. Considering the need for sending a message of stability and control, while delivering help to the people of Gyrjach and Krjder, it was decided that the Morrigan would get one last stretch of her legs before being permanently dry docked like her sister ship the Camalus. While it wasn't anticipated that firepower would be needed, the fact that the First Fleet was ready to go, and that a base of operations for the distribution of aid would be needed, meant that a deployment of the fleet was the quickest and easiest way to ensure the arrival of the supplies to where they needed to go.

At this point, their orders were clear. They had permission to deliver aid to Gyrjach, and to help bolster Krïdan forces. There was some push back home to put some people in the more susceptible places to attack in Krjder, including the harbour that had been recently attacked, but the military tried to steer clear of the political games, unless they knew for certain what they were doing. However, honour and decorum was something that was always upheld on the battlefield, and there was some concern even within the military ranks about how far they were going, and who they should be protecting. The Krïdan Emperor's speech had been heard by many, and it didn't sit right with Rogers and a lot of his officers. It was one thing to protect the innocent, but another to pull the trigger for an out-of-control ally. Right now they had the assurance that they were here more for assistance to the civilians, and that their participation in the battle would be minimal from their government, but it was still unknown to what lengths the Krïdan military was going in their response to the nuclear attack.

They had all seen it, the images had been sent on to them earlier that week, and it was one of the reasons they had done all they could to arrive in Gyrjach all the quicker. Surprisingly, they hadn't met much of any Gyrjachi forces as they moved towards the South Coast of Gyrjach, and no one had signaled them from shore, but as they moved closer to the shore, they understood why. The Krïdan response was already in full swing, and the massive Krïdan fleet was already bearing down on the antiquated and overwhelmed Gyrjachi fleet. It was an unfair fight for the defenders to be sure. Rogers decided it might be best to send the message himself. More out of a force of habit as a communications officer on this ship, than anything else, but it did cause Admiral Conwae to give him a brief glance.

"Krïdan Fleet, this is the ANS Morrigan of the Aigéantir First Fleet on your aft starboard side. I don't want to tell you how to run your war, but it seems we have a significant advantage over the Gyrjachi fleet. Perhaps they'd be willing to surrender?" He switched to an open channel so that both navies could hear. "Gyrjachi Fleet, this is the ANS Morrigan of the Aigéantir First Fleet. Now we have no issue with avoiding a battle that will surely result in your destruction, but we do want to at least give you the chance to lay down your arms and surrender." Rogers smiled, but quickly dropped the pretense of happiness. He just started a dangerous game, and glancing at Admiral Conwae, the man knew it too. It was clear from the arrangement of the Krïdan Fleet that they intended to pound the poorly matched Gyrjachi Fleet with everything they had. Likely they weren't asking for a the Gyrjachi to surrender. While it was hard to know who's pride would break first, as the Krïdans clearly wanted to get even, while the Gyrjachi would likely see surrender as a worse option than death, but at least giving either side an opportunity to act more civilized was something that Rogers felt he was still well within his right to do.

As he waited for a response, he immediately issued orders to the helmsman, officers relayed several new headings to the rest of the ships, and Rogers could feel Admiral Conwae approaching him from behind. "What are you doing?" Conwae asked calmly, but there was clearly some concern to his question.

"Oh, ahh seeing if I can move these guys away from an unnecessary battle. Clearly the Krïdan Fleet has the upper hand even without us. I'm just trying to see if they take notice of us." Rogers responded.

"By taking our fleet dangerously close to the Gyrjachi fleet, right through the middle of the firing line of both navies?" Conwae asked, "Our first priority is to ensure that the aid reaches the civilians."

"Yes, and that's why I'm sending the supply ships with a smaller escort, around the back of the Krïdan fleet. The rest of the fighting ships are running the gauntlet. If both sides are smart, they'll avoid hitting us so that a major international incident doesn't befall they're side. It's sort of a test of faith. If the Krïdans contact us, we'll know that they may still be able to be persuaded to prevent needless civilian deaths, as there's been some concern of this turning into an indiscriminate killing of Gyrjachis. If the Gyrjachis avoid hitting us, we'll know that they are at least willing to avoid an international incident, that will pull the wrath of the rest of Krjder's allies against them. Yes, I'm putting the fleet and the mission at risk, but this could be a good opportunity to determine if supporting the Krïdan assault is something we want to go down in history for doing." Rogers looked at Admiral Conwae, trying to read his thoughts from his blank face. He seemed to stand there, pondering it for a bit.

"Hm... Carry on." Conwae said, seeming to accept the explanation.

Rogers was surprised, and a little shocked that he wouldn't have had a harder time arguing his orders. "Really?" He asked.

"Yes," Conwae replied. "I'm actually a little envious I didn't think of it first!" He said with a smile.

OPERATION SLEDGEHAMMER

Department of Defence, New Carlingford, Carloso
Above the various military officials, LCD screens flickered into life with video footage from a low-orbit reconnaissance satellite stationed above Gryjach. Several seconds in, there was a small but intense flash, followed by a second and then a third within a very small areas. The satellite, designed to scan for nuclear flashes amongst other things, focused its lens in on the area. The bright lights lingered for about a quarter of a minute before starting to fade, leaving a distinct, circular patch of darkness in an area once coated in light from the thousands of building that made up the metropolis of Skatara. These lights were no more. Soon after this, what appeared to be fires were beginning to breakout across the city-centre, spreading out until they reached the edge of the darkness. This had been the footage of the nuclear attacks in Gryjach; millions dead, hundreds of thousands of others wounded and hundreds of billions of dollars worth of damage dealt. It was all too suspicious. The military officers looked at each other uneasily as the footage began to loop again and again, the same three flashes appearing and disappearing; this had been the first time they had witnessed the use of nuclear weapons in war and it had been the first time any Carlossians had laid their eyes upon such a blast since the finale of the Second Great War.

After a fifth time looping, the screen switched to a live feed being provided by a RORSAT observation satellite which was keeping watch on the ocean between Krjder and Gryjach, specifically the area of water closest to Krjder. It could immediately identity a huge fleet of warships being assembled; cruisers, destroyers, aircraft carriers and frigates, in various port cities. These were highlighted by the satellite with orange boxes with an Office of National Intelligence-dictated designation give to each one; KN-1 and KN-2 respectively. It didn't take a genius to figure out what their purpose was; such a large group of warships could only mean an invasion of some sort was being planned. A smaller blue box highlighted the small group of Carlossian Navy auxiliary ships being dispatched to ferry a large number of aircraft and their personnel to take part in peace-keeping nations in Krjder. In truth, the High Command wanted to recall these due to the suspicious nature of the nuclear explosions in Skatara, but it had been concluded that withdrawing the promised aid would surely put the imperial government thinking Carloso did not trust them.

The display ended, switching to the logo of the Carlossian Armed Forces. With a stern look on his face, Supreme Chancellor of the Federal Republic of Carloso, Carl Tobin, called the meeting into order. The officers, chatting about their reactions to the attack and other related affairs, were quickly silenced. Once the noise level had dropped to a sufficient level, the Chancellor began to speak. "As you should all know by now, last Wednesday three nuclear blasts ripped through the second-largest city Gyrjach. According to Kalijt news agencies, there could be as much as three million people dead as a result of these explosions plus the ensuing fires which are, at this point in time, believed to be still blazing in Skatara since almost all local fire-departments were obliterated. Not long afterwards at the IFC summit I conversed with the Kalijt foreign minister, a Mr. Konrádyi Lyővagésel who seemed to be reluctant on discussing the nuclear blasts. Now, considering their reluctance to discuss it, their announcement for imminent retribution when no considerable evidence points towards the government of Gryjach being responsible for the attack in Iljitÿnkhyyrve Port and also the general suspiciousness behind the nuclear attacks, it would be quiet illogical to think that there is a high propability that this massacre was committed by the Kalijt government."

He paused for a moment or two, allowing the officers to discuss the issue amongst themselves. Carl called over an aid, asking her to bring a computer. Naval HQ would be notified.

Naval HQ, Cheste, Carloso
In a dimly lit room deep underneath the Carlossian Navy's headquarters several kilometres outside the small city of Cheste, a group of young to middle-aged men had been assembled by Admiral Cole for a debrief on the mission at hand. At the top of the room Preston himself stood, waiting for the final few men and women to file in. There was immediate silence, for they knew the importance of the mission at hand, to both the Federal Republic of Carloso, the International Freedom Coalition and the state of Gryjach, which was at the verge of being stampeded by the Kalijt military.

"Men, women. You may be wondering why we have ordered your respective ships into optimum readiness these past few days, and the answer is simple: we believe, beyond reasonable doubt that the Kalijt government were behind the suspicious nuclear detonations inside the city of Skatara. First and foremost, if they had been indeed nuclear weapons, which we are being lead to believed were armed and live, the repercussions for such actions by the Kalijt would have resulted in an instance of mutually assured destruction, enacted by the Gyrjachi strategic missiles command, if such a thing exists, as a retaliation against this de facto nuclear strike. Because of this, it has been ordered from the top of military command that we are to dispatch a force of warships and submarines as soon as feasibly possible to halt any attempt by the Kalijt armed forces to launch an invasion. Initial surveillance preformed by our fleet of orbital reconnaissance satellites have identified several groups of warships that have since been dispatched from Kalijt ports for an assault."

A screen lit up behind him, the live feed from the RORSAT satellite still coming through. "Our estimates on fleet size are quiet exponential, varying from 20 to 30 individual warships in each battlegroup. Unfortunately we are unable to identity the composition of each fleet, including whether not they are commanded by aircraft carriers or these supposed 'super-dreadnoughts' they have been flaunting so much about recently. Simply put, we have one objective here; kill them all. Sink every single tugboat of theirs to the deepest fathoms of the ocean, leave no survivors. At the end of the day, we are ultimately we are facing a force that is quiet a bit superior to our own... but they won't expect the source of the fist of God to be from the very nation who has been babying them for the last past week or so. You are dismissed."

Each naval officer saluted the admiral as they left the room for their ships, being handed a document on their objectives and an overview of the mission as they went out.

Fale Ocean, several hundred kilometres west of Cheste, international waters
Commanding the carrier strike group was Vice Admiral James S. Harper, sitting at the helm on the New Carlingford-class supercarrier CN Secano, sipping a cup of coffee and observing the flight deck from his bridge window. As was usual with such urgent deployments, the island, specifically the command centre, was a hive of activity, with air controllers directing E-6 Pioneer airborne early warning aircraft and CPAC-AJ/17N Sea Jay jet fighters that were routinely taking off from the angled and primary flight decks of the 362 m long vessel. Within a very short time, the entire force had been brought up to combat readiness with full radar coverage established over a huge area. Although it would be unlikely that they would see combat, they could take no chances as the latest RORSAT footage had identified fleets from other nations approaching the battlezone as well.

International waters, approximately 100 km from Carloso
Lurking deep beneath the waves, the forward-deployed Submarine Squadron 3 (SUBRON 3) prowled silently towards Gyrjach. They had recently just dived down from the surface after receiving the latest update from the reconnaissance satellites in orbit on the location of the Kalijt forces. With this information, they were able to roughly calculate their trajectory and speed and realign their own setting accordingly. Going at their full speed of 35 kn, they would attempt to intercept the warships, rising from the depths and releasing a wave of torpedoes before diving back done again to the point where they would be undetectable. All eight submarines of the squadron would target the one group of shisp, KN-1 (Alpha Surfaced Attack Group), spreading out to attack from many different locations so that it would be harder for the enemy to identify the number of boats. If viable, they would surface to deliver their deadly payload of SAN-23N Fletcher anti-ship missiles. These fire-and-forget munitions would rely on GPS and RORSAT information (later smart imaging infrared and terminal radar) to guide them towards the target, striking at every surface ship destroyer to carrier sized with accuracy and firepower.

  • Submarine Squadron 3

  • 8 × Spalding-class fleet submarines

1st Amphibious Assault Fleet; TKMS Prijnz Künraad

Commissar Hild Shipton was not happy. The Admiralty of Brytene had hithered and dithered - riding a high from their successful rescue of 73 prisoners and the fact that their aggressors had backed off and given in, they were still cautious due to the scuttling of the CFS Eftwyrd and, with trouble brewing in Pepper Atoll, were unwilling to commit forces to such a shady and volatile conflict.

They were still allies of Krjder, however, and so had sent a team of observers, ostensibly to be impartial witnesses to what went on, meaning that Colonel Shipton and her six-person detail of experts and soldiers had turned up in Krjder to be met by one Ensign Dienter Luursjouw, who had led them aboard the Prince Konrad of the 1st Amphibious Assault Fleet, which was due to move towards Gryjach and assist with 'peacekeeping' operations. It had seemed fairly simple at the time, but then the landscape had changed.

Shipton was not as confident as she had been at the start of the mission, however - it seemed that several large nations had taken an interest in the conflict, and she was not sure that the bridge of a Krïdan warship was the safest place to be right now. She brushed her short dark hair away from her face and straightened her back a little. Amidst all this Krïdan pride and pomp, it would not do to slouch or betray her anxiety. Not that anyone seemed to be paying any attention - she privately suspected that the rest of her team, who had elected to go play cards in the mess, had probably made the better choice.

Battle against Kridan imperialism begins!

Postby Gyrjachi » Sat Sep 12, 2015 7:56 pm

OOC: I based my claims on TG exchange with Krjder.

Image
Gyrjachi chasing Kridan Imperialists away from their home.

Newly announced Field Marshall Mrigendra Chandrabhan looked at pile of reports being thrown at his desk, located in narrow room inside atomic bunker build just in case of this scenario - Kridan attack on Gyrjachi island. This wasn't only one like that. Gyrjachi military has build several "shield bunkers" as they were commonly called, allowing them to cover many of their units in case of Kridan invasion - invasion which sooner or later had to happen. Marshall Migendra knew that fact too well, considering mutual hate between two nations - hate that wasn't new. After all Kridan imperialists attempted to subjugate many smaller nations, not just Gyrjachi alone. Kridans loved going on "murder, rape, pillage" contests around, and thus Gyrjachi government was more than prepared to face eventual invasion. While current "president" was nothing more than dictator who could not hold his own lusts in check, the moment when the invasion begun he lost all influence. Considering that he would have easily surrendered nation if this meant more luxuries, population rallied behind the military elite - which was composed of patriotic officers, officers who had enough being "Dear Leader's man hounds" and instead wanted to make Gyrjachi better - and above all, show Kridans where their place was. Leader of said faction, Marshall Chandrabban was in fact given title of Marshall "due to emergency", enforced in presidential office at gunpoint of the military men. Everybody knew who was now given task of fighting the invasion.

Marshall Chandrabhan slowly let out a sight as he signed one of last OPORDs to his subordinate units. General strategic goal was defined long ago - force Kridans to think that this war would no longer be profitable. Since ancient times men invaded other men to take their goods, land, or enslave them. Krjder was not different from medieval mongols; they all wanted power and goods of other people. But why would them invade if acquiring those goods would cost more than it will give gains? To explain this philosophy to Kridans by the means of force was major task of Gyjarchi Armed Forces. From now on, every meter of ground that Kridans gain was going to be covered in their blood. Every centimetre they get had to be paid with thousands of Kridan soldiers. Gyjarchi was not going to surrender; paramilitary Volunteer Corps for the Defence of the People (VCDP) was activated to ensure that war will rage even when the main army disintegrates. This was not going to be fight until army collapses, for age of dominance of conventional warfare ended long ago; to compensate for lack of firepower, Gyjarchi would use hybrid warfare and asymmetric tactics.

Certain units, especially those who had fully operational gear were to be moved into the underground bunker networks to ensure survival of initial bombardment and then re - emerge to fight. Air force was going to be limited; 2 of 3 operational air fields would be abandoned, with their aircraft being commonly relocated to underground airfield below Mt. Nuwara Eliya. One operational airfield will remain near capital, to ensure that top pilots of Gyjarchi air force would be ready to defend the capital with MiG - 31s and few early versions of Su - 27 that Gyjarchi government possessed. To confuse Kridans, said airfields would be filled with replicas of aircraft, hardly able to be distinguished from originals while flying above or by SATINT. Decoy positions would also be placed at shore line, to ensure that in case of eventual Kridan landings they would hit the fake ones (placed most obviously) while the real positions were dug beneath the ground, carefully camouflaged and blending with terrain to give Kridan army nasty surprise when landing.

The general slowly sighed. Why had it to come to this? Gyjarchi were just small group of men who wanted peace... but peace did not wanted them. General knew too well that those who are not ready to fight for peace do not deserve it at all... And he was ready to prove that Kridan military, grown among hedonistic culture and love for ceremony would not be a foe to Lions of Gyjarchi, no matter how better technology Kridans had. Yes, they had weapons surpassing Gyjarchi 40 to 20 years forward... but Gyjarchi fought for their homes. And that given them strength.

*** Northeast Gyjarchi: 131345LIMASEP15:

4,000 ft above the surface of the earth, this means 1219 meters above the surface, flew around 30 of Kridan bombers that were going to hit Gyjarchi capital. Of course, Kridans did not realize serious mistake they made; 1 219 meters weren't a big distance, in fact it was very low, especially considering cloudless sky and good visibility. Thus, their bombers, while being equipped in stealth technology, were still very visible from ground, considering that their attitude allowed that with ease. And when they approached Gyjarchi shore, flying above on black wings of death, a single lieutenant from crew manning observation post focused on shore noticed them flying in. With a quick movement he grabbed the radio and shouted:

"Chandragupta Actual to Majura actual" he shouted through radio "Roughly three zero vampires inbound, bearing one seven one, over!"

On the other side the officer already mobilized entire station to forward the orders.

"Affirmative Chandragupta actual, continue observation, out!"

The decision to shoot down bombers foolishly flying so low came quickly. Due to the fact that they were heading for Capital and keeping on course, a single regiment based on S - 125 Neva was assigned to shoot down said bomber group. Local regiment with 16 such missile launchers, mounted as local variant on T55 base and receiving certain upgrades, which included more advanced booster increasing it's range to 29km, and of course upgrade of guidance by attacking IR sensor taken and reverse - engineered from R - 73 / AA - 11 Archer missile utilized by planes. To back them up 18x ZSU - 23 - 4 Shilka SPAAGS were added - a weapon that would be terribly effective due to low attitude on which the bombers will fly.

Just a single fixation on their position from local observation post 29km away and SAMs went into action. Instead of radar guidance, the missiles will be guided by IR (infra red) targeting heat from the plane engines. Each launcher fired all four missiles to confirm the kill. Whatever goes past, if anything will, will be met with barrage of SPAAG rounds.

ORBAT: SAM SA - 3 Regiment (910 men)
- HQ
- SA - 3 battalion ( 4x S - 125 Neva on T55 base)
- SA - 3 battalion ( 4x S - 125 Neva on T55 base)
- SA - 3 battalion ( 4x S - 125 Neva on T55 base)
- SA - 3 battalion ( 4x S - 125 Neva on T55 base)
- SPAAG battalion (18x ZSU - 23 - 4)
- Tech support

*** Sea around Gyjarchi: 131345LIMASEP15

Kridans yet again underestimated issue of range. ~ 32km from shore was still distance within range of majority of conventional artillery. M 1978 Koksan, major weapon of Gyjarchi strategic artillery brigades, had 60km range. MRLS designated SUR - 7 Parash (being upgraded BM - 21 Grad) had 40km range. With two brigades (108 SUR - 7 and 72 Koksans) being stationed in each area of shore where Kridans could land (because even they weren't insane enough to attack cliffs located on certain areas of Gyjarchi coast). Right now, they were going to realize the strategy of "showing Kridans that invasion is not worth by force".

Each of battlegroups would enjoy 3 Salvos from Koksans (234 rounds) and 4 320 122mm rockets from BM - 21 knockoff falling on their ships, each with excellent capability to do enormous damage. Naval assault craft, whatever they were, would be soon wihtout platform to land and left with choice - attack local surface action group, be shot down by defences of brigade manning coastline or surrender...

ORBAT
- 1st Artillery Gun brigade, 2nd Artillery Corps (72x M1978 Koksan)
- 1st Artillery Missile brigade, 2nd artillery corps (108x BM - 21 Grad (upgraded local version), 1500 personnel).
- 1st Mechanized Infantry Brigade (4781 personnel, 43x BMP-1 IFV, 148x Type 63 APC, 31x Type 59 tank, 10x S- 125 Neva on T55 chasis, 8x ZSU - 23 - 4, 18x M-46 130mm howitzer, 18x 2A36 Giatsint-B, 6x BM - 21 Grad) / 4th Mechanized Corps.

- Naval Surface action group (1x Grisha class, 2x Krivak class, 4x Osa class).
