Our Charter
Article One - Mission Statement
We, the undersigned oppressed proletarian masses of the world, do hereby affirm our belief in the right of the worker to the fruit of his labours. No more shall the forces of greed and aristocracy be allowed to prevail over the collective will of the ninety-nine percent. We vow to rise and - by force of arms if necessary - secure for ourselves a more equal footing upon the ladder of societal privilege. All humanity will one day be free to live in liberty, equality and brotherhood: liberté, egalité, fraternité.
Article Two - Organisational Structure
The ISCU will be governed by an Executive Council (EC), consisting of one delegate from each member-state. Each Council member will wield one (1) vote, which can be cast when new legislation is proposed by a member-state. The first five members of the Executive Council will receive the power to veto proposed legislation. As the ISCU's sole legislative body, the EC will be permitted to alter aspects of this Charter with a 75% affirmative vote.
Article Three - Human Rights
We as signatory states recognise the inalienable rights of humankind, as outlined herein. First and foremost among these rights is the right to life; no individual should be killed for bearing characteristics that lie beyond their capacity to control. The right to free speech is also hereby enshrined - member-states must not restrict or exert undue influence upon their national presses. Citizens of the International Socialistion Union are also entitled to affordable, subsidised healthcare and freedom from poverty. The governments of the ISCU must do whatever is necessary to liberate the proletariat from the shackles of destitution and disease.
In living out their daily lives, citizens should be granted full freedom of religion, unless a religion is proven to be a source of hatred and undue destruction. All men and women living under the banner of the ISCU are to be given fair and open trials, and are to be free of unwarranted prosecution. Furthermore, member-states are to consider citizens from other member-states as holders of these selfsame rights.
Article Three - Economic Obligations
Members of the ISCU may not impose tariffs in excess of 5% upon goods from other member nations. Additionally, member-states are obliged to take legal and/or military action against pirates whose operations threaten the economic well-being of the ISCU. Immigration from one member-state to another must not be restricted.
Article Four - the Incorporation of New Members
In order to join the ISCU, a nation must complete the following application form. All applications received by the ISCU must be processed by the EC - if a nation receives approval from more than 50% of EC members, it may join the ISCU. Alexiandra can extend Executive Approval to applicant nations.
