The Devil's Grip (FT, open, IC)

Postby Trevion » Sun Jul 19, 2015 8:07 pm

Fifteen years has passed since the Trevionites invaded the Unicornian planet of Tadna IV, the brutal occupation of the planet forever altered it in every aspect from good to worst. As the forces of Trevion further enroached into the entire Tadna system to seize several more planets from the Unicornians, they carved a swath of mass destruction and committed fearsome atrocities that would forever psychologically scar those handful of ponies who survived and escape the horrors within. When the rest of the Tadna system was swallowed by Trevion, the ghastly forces then mysteriously held their ground against the Unicorns' borders.

Behind the painfully visible death and despair within the once-beautiful Tadna planetary system not only lies the apparent new territories of the rapidly-expanding Trevion Empire, but a complex system of experiments and atrocities including a mass import of non-human slaves from civilizations conquered by Trevion.

The Binarian Empire, Trevion's long-time ally, bribed journalists into their ally's occupied territories to learn of the mechanics behind the horrors, but to no prevail. The planets were rendered nearly unsuitable for non-Trevionian lifeforms, as the desolated landscapes were known as the "Bonelands" for its death, impenetrable darkness, volcanic ash, tainted mana, and spirits bounded within the lands screaming to be freed from their eternal torture by Trevion's beasts inside the Void World; all decorated by the bony corpses of unfortunate creatures that succumbed to the toxicity of the planets. Trevion's goals are not clear though those who managed to escape the planet describe the cities as anachronistic, constructed as great monoliths atop a plehtora of equine bones, inculcating a natural sense of hopelessness and weariness upon first sight. The grim details included mutant anamolies and cybernetic enhancements among slaves, even foreign power generators which contained limbless figures of the unfortunate ponies, billowing a strange red steam that powered the Trevionites' many military bases.

The Ozzalonians on the other hand, are the engineers to the machinery that fueled Trevion's murderous ambitions and are the creators of an effective anti-pegasus flak cannon. Otherwise, they are orchestrating sociological experiments upon the enslaved ponies to challenge their herd mentality and develop new methods of political multi-species propaganda.

The intergalactic community has yet to militarily oppose The Trevionian's intentions, fearing that attempting to claim the planets in their current state would be a phyrric victory at best. Would anyone stand up against these cretins? Or will the ancient evil rise above the soon-to-be ashes of civilization?

The Tadna system: All planets are entirely worn with volcanic rock and darkness, so there's no worrying about diverse ecosystems. They are inhabited with mainly unicorns and moth ponies.
Tadna 1-5 bearing four moons each.
Tadna 6a-d
Tadna 7a
Tadna VIII - no moons, though it does have an unnamed irregular shaped astroid lingering in it's orbit.
Tadna IX - The biggest and most populated planet holding 15 moons.

OOC: Names with a letter at the end indicate moons of planets with their respective numbers, though Tadna six and seven have been annihilated by the Ozzalonian capital ship, Funky President, which still lingers about the system. We have permission from Princess Platinum to include details of her canon and to claim the rest of Tadna.

A group of mares are gathered within the sollars of an ancient castle on a faraway planet, a dull room of cobblestone brightly lit by the massive chandelier that hovered godlike over the plywood table. The current setting is the foundation of a meeting among the Daughters of The Empress, the faithful inquisitors who spread the light of the Empress Celestia to the darkest corners of the known universe, one of the best the Solar Empire had to offer. This meeting room served as the basis of all the Daughters' battle plans, however, this congregation revealed to them that they are dealing with a formidable opponent of gruesome unforeseen horror. Horror never seen before in the face of their other foes, like Queen Derpy or Princess Luna.

"Alright Sisters, as you may know, something very terrible and dark is eating away at the Tadna planetary system. Other equine civilizations are ignorantly sitting idly by while the Trevionians cast their grim ambition upon the innocent Tadna inhabitants. It's up to us, Sisters... May the Empress guide us through the inevitable perilous battle that is to come. If we fail this, we may have well fail the entire pony race." She makes a X shaped gesture on her chest, with a noticeable grimace upon her beautifully silver face.

"This enemy most likely relies heavily on sorcery." She added, slowly trotting left and right through the dull cobblestone room. "We're going to need the best psykers for the job, and very rigid armored columns. We'll meet up outside Tadna IV, I'll supply your Sister-Captains with the specified coordinates when we near the planetary systems. From there we'll discuss the plans for an invasion of the planet... you are dismissed, Sisters." The silver unicorn sighed, the rest of the ponies who shared her silver and white color scheme said nothing and stood on all fours simultaneously to professionally march out of the room.

A keen of recorded smokestacks disappear into the dark smoke-laden atmosphere above, providing the Bonelands with a heavy dosage of acidic rain. The monolithic city sites were bristling with makeshift structures and corpses, with ghastly figures stalking the skyward pipes like hornets around a nest. Occasionally, the figures would swoop down and deliver a swift end upon any unfortunate slave developing the audacity to slack for just one moment, their punishment be either torn to shreds by the reaper-like beasts or taken into the smoky skies to never be seen again. These unlucky cretins were unfortunate enough to be property of Trevion, taken from conquered provinces and typically driven to work to a painful demise motivated by the nonexistent promise of freedom. Their crude cybernetics and mutated tissue were born from the cruel Trevionian ambition and toxic environment, obscuring the ponies' (and the other slaves') original forms; typically giving them warped deformities and appearances best described as quadruped goblins or naked molerats.

Above the destroyed smoky atmosphere of each Tadna planet stood a 'mothership' of varying size, invisible to the denizens below and carrying an unknown purpose, these ships stood out among the horde of smaller black vessels of alloy and flesh. The military-grade vessels did not make a move and were dotted throughout the vacuous Tadna space in massive numbers, as if waiting on something. Occasionally, they would emit a groaning of metal and scratching that can be heard by the Tadna slaves below, either way these beasts of machinery signified that the pursuit of Trevionian conquest has ended with the Tadna planetary system...

... Or has it?

Senior Military Command, Lindum Colonia, Britannian Central Provinces, Earth, Imperial Allancian Union
A mad roar sounded throughout the room. People screamed at each other, their voices only barely rising above the general tumult. A porter ran into the chamber and slipped something into the hands of the leader of the Allgemeinenachrichten, General Intelligence. The man looked at the sheaf of papers, studying it closely. He walked to the front of the room and slid it under the projector. At the other end, the cover of the collection appeared in stark bold.

A FULL DESCRIPTION OF THE TREVIONITE MILITARY OCCUPATION OF THE TADNA SYSTEM AND SUBSEQUENT HAPPENINGS

The report had been researched for almost a year. Members of the Allgemeinenachrichten had thoroughly scrutinized the system for several months, collecting scraps of data and such. From that, this report had been drawn up. The members of the Senior Command slowly quieted down and regarded the screen in front of them. The Primary Admiral, leader of the entire military, stood up and addressed the room.
As you can see, we have finished our report. I was unaware it had run over its time limit, but due to the thickness of the sheets, we seemed to have been rewarded. Now, as you can tell, Trevion appears to have overly-complicated matters in Tadna. Their harsh and brutallic treatment of the local populace has attracted international attention. However, we must regard this report with neutrality. Although the way they have treated the local populace is comparable with genocide and warcrimes, we are their allies and must support them.
The room sat in silence. There was this strong anti-pony sentiment in the Allancian populace, and this carried over into the government. At least half of the people there hated ponies ferociously. The rest regarded them with quiet contempt.
I would suggest you all read this report in the following week.
The Senior Command silently agreed, and resumed their business of heated yelling.

Soldiers scrambled upon the boarding platforms of the Sisterhood's fleet, the ponies' intentions were blatantly clear, it was time for war. Some of the officers who received word of the Trevionian's enormities were outraged by their cruelty, making no hesitation to join the imminent fight that was to come. It was time to take action, make no negotiating nor contact with the deathly reapers, Trevion would soon answer for their crimes against equinity.

Soon enough, the Sisterhood's fleet would already near the Tadna planetary system, the soldiers' rides there were... silent for the most part. It would remain unknown to any one riding with them if they even had a plan at all. Eeriness and silence even dominated the bridge of the ship; the crew, all monochrome white mares, were attending to their small computers while the captain quietly drew on paper. What broke the silence was the shout from one of the mares...

"Navigator Renee speaking, Sister-Captain, we have arrived at our location..."

The mare drawing on the paper nodded, "Then it is time, Navigator... I'll inform the sergeants within the quarterdeck to board the drop ships. Granted we don't encounter any resistance entering the atmosphere. I want you to ease our vessel outside Tadna IV's exosphere."

She nodded and quickly returned to her post.

The grated portholes of the sleeping Trevionian vessels light up a hot glowing red as their infernal reactors awaken, like stars among the dark vacuous space. The closest ships approach the Nyxian vessels with galley tactics, boasting sharp dagger-like weapons mounted on their sterns. These galleys are light and agile, and are often built with little to no ranged weaponry. They are usually devastatingly fast, their polyalloy piercing rams capable of flensing the armored belt of very large vessels.

Like a flock of crows, a horde of these flying knives perform a full circle before mercilessly descending upon the Sisterhood's ships with tremendous speeds, baring the intent to simply stab at their opponent's ships. Behind these galleys are the larger ranged guns of Trevion's space fleet, crudely built hybrids of metal and flesh aligned in vertical formation, probably in preparation for a raking fire.

"Sister-Captain! We have a plethora of bogeys concentrating on the left side of the fleet!" One of the mares calmly stated, glaring at the numerous blips on her radar.

"Then have them shot, Navigator!! You don't need my authority! Damn!" The mare frantically replied, actually feeling a sense of concern as she trots around the quarterdeck.

The Nyxians were taken by surprise by the flying swords, the Sisterhood's ships attempt to form a line before the swarm of sharp galleys made their fatal stab. In a poorly crafted formation, the curved galleons made a devastating raking fire to thwart the invaders, hoping to hit one of them in a midst the small flying ships. The larger Nyxian battleships unleash a volley of molten plasma ferociously burning bright as a small star, the smaller transport vessels hung on the defending side of their larger brethren, slowly making their way into the atmosphere of the decimated planet below.

The soldiers within the vessels look down upon Tadna IV with shock and pity, muttering about the "unbelievable damage" inflicted upon it and it's painfully visible war weariness.
