Castilla village.

Postby Yolkia » Fri Jul 24, 2015 7:18 pm

"What are those civilians up to, don't they know that we're here?" Castilla tells his men who look at him in confusion. "Stand down!" he shouts as more bullets whiz by his head.
"Sir, we have a civilian here that claims to know whats going on", a small man pops from behind the men.
"Castilla, it's an honor!" he starts, "Those aren't our men! I just saw what they did over the ledge of my building, they're getting into their mind!" Castilla puffs. "Look at them, they aren't human any more, not psychologically at-least!" he pauses. Castilla seems unconvinced at this mans statement. Yet Rafael seemed convinced.
"We must find a way to push them through, even if they are still Yolkian, they are shooting at us, and they do know we're Yolki."he was looking for a responce from Castilla.
"We will sorround their position, listen here, everybody. Sevallos, you will push around the village and push from the south. I will talk with Zilian and express your abservations." he began walking with the Fortuan scouts that had caught up with them, with their help Castilla and his men got to their camps, his militia men were directed to the battle lines as he entered Zilians tent. "Listen, we have reason to believe that those men have been shifted towards the enemy. our men are still with you." he had recovered a city map and had placed it in the table, after some speculative drawing they planned their defence and attack.
Image
"They shouldn't have a strong amount of forces, since they focused on bigger cities they should be slim numbers here. We will use that to our advantage."

Ana Maria can now see Castilla village in the distance, smoke and the smell of death fill the air. "Chaps, we're here to secure our foothold in our own country, remember the gods and the fallen" the men still hear her last speech in their ears but the impact has slightly worn away. Rafael's men see them from the distance, he aims at her head and asks for her to prove that she's in his side. "I cant hear you!" she shouts at the top of her lungs, both of them had been together in Sonrrisitas whilst the civil war raged as they weren't of age to fight.
"Listen," he said coming closer, lowering slowly his rifle. "we have Marines and some twisted Yolki."
"Traitors?"
"mind-fucked" he corrected her. "we have orders from Castilla to push through the city, we are the flanking force. i didn't expect so many reinforcements..."
"How many did you expect?" she questioned him.
"None"
"I can leave if you don't need me, you know, march back to Tigrillo and -
"Ja. ja. ja" his eyes expressed zero joy "Funny" he looked back at the village, we can do full sized attacks through the entire city edge"
"Lets do that, Alright men, Castilla village will fall and these aliens shall bend to the Republic's might!" the men cheered, soon they had assumed the positions, light artillery took advantage of the slopes and gave the introduction to the fighters in the city, the distungushable sound of the Yolki artillery filled the air. The border was tenderized as shrapnel shell after the other teared down the structures, the men were given the order as they began pushing through the lines, the marines faught bravley and held their lines in a stalemate but the Yolki had their general fighting ext to them, thus giving them the extra morale to push, yet, the marines cared not for the generals and fought to the last man, a small force pincered them against the reinforcing armies. The walkers moved to intercept...

As Castilla saw them move away he ordered the attack, as the Yolki lept the trenches alone the Fortuan forces looked missplaced. When Castilla ran after his men to catch up a feeling of uselessness invaded them. Castilla's men crashed against the marines who were trying to shuffle against the reinforcing force catching them by surprise, the bayonets made work of the marines but pushing it through the armour requiered more strenght than usual. non the less, being sorrounded the marines couldn't do much, the walkers were sorrounded and small grenade launchers, Lichi-lakes, peppered them from all the angles. the eastern section of the city had been compleatley liberated, yet the western sector had consolidated and was now capable of denfending itself. The Yolki-Fortuan front gathered and planned a scheme to fight against the hunters who turned into the hunted.

Laurine

Laurine mind floated through the darkness as the FoAS soldiers had removed her from the area. Images began filling her head dazzling lights bursting in her mind. Most likely from the blood loss she thought suddenly a voice entered her head

Hello...

H... Hello? Who are you

that's not important right now

but...

It seems you are becoming conscious I must go the voice retorted before disapearing.

Warship of Si and So

She began to open her eyes her last images was of a vibrant alien forest, but now she was in the cold metal hull of a ship. She groggily looked around the room. Strange creatures surrounded her speaking in a language she couldn't understand. One of them injected someting into her IV as her glazed over eyes watched her something cold entered her blood stream. Almost instantly her senses returned to her followed by an ungodly amount of pain. She began to scream out but her voice didn't leave her body. The cool liquid worked its way along her circulatory system until the last of her screams were actually vocal. A few hours past and she begins feeling numb to the pain. She still tried to see her feet but it was useless, they were gone. Suddenly a group of people approached her this time speaking to her directly, asking her name.

"Laurine. My name is Laurine DeMont from Ville de Bruyère, where am I?... what are you... and why did you save me?"

Word has finally come from Yolkia they have removed the enemy from their capital, and are marching north! An aide told the Prime Minister

Jean-Pierre had finally gotten around to shaving, and had gotten at least two hours of sleep which was helping his thought process tremendously. They are planning on using whats left of the rail system... I don't know how much it is left though, between the Fungus and FoAS but if they go along the Eastern Border they should be relatively fine. Relay the message, along with a message thanking them for keeping their agreement.

Iros pushed vixen out of his way,"We are Human Diclonius, Forcers for short. We are the spear of the Federation's Colonization of this planet. Our troops saved you because we hoped you could convince the Armada Master that your people don't need to be exterminated and rather assimilated. Your coopertation can save your people by the millions." He says to her,"We have also given you android legs. They look and feel real. We hope you learn to walk with them soon."

War Tent, Camp Creedo, South of the Yolkian Border

Harris Vmon hadn't had the time to assemble a reply to the letter he had received from Isabelle, although it had warmed his heart greatly. Almost as soon as he had read it, the Western Covenant's call for aid had reached the Oceani command and the entire tent had broken into fierce debate as to what was to be done. A stalemate had developed, with nobody agreeing on what action to take when the news was relayed to them that the last beacon had been destroyed and the Federation's troops were fleeing the capital. Operator-General Ripley had then taken a phone call from the Yolkian command. She relayed their plan to the Prime Minister and other assembled Generals.

"The Yolkian forces intend to push North," she explained "to liberate old Peruana." There was some nodding around the room but most officers stayed silent, awaiting the judgement of the Prime Minister.

"And Oceanion will aid them" he announced to some applause. "Our mandate is to secure this part of the world against the threat from the Federation. If we can support Yolkia in this push then we may be able to drive them out of this country altogether. We have the manpower, the leadership, and the courage. We shall stand with our friends." This was met with cheers of approval around the tent.

"But what about the Western Covenant?" someone called out. Vmon already had an answer.

"That island is damn near impregnable if defended right" he replied. "If the Western Covenant can focus their resources on protecting the island, even the Federation would find it almost impossible to take. Tell them we advise they attempt to pull civilians out of the mainland and evacuate them to the island. No easy feat, for sure, but less hard than taking on the Federation on an even footing. If the island was secure they could then try to launch a campaign to retake the mainland or try and secure a truce with the Federation, allowing them to keep the conquered lands. It's not for us to dictate their strategy, but it is for us to send aid. The Wnescia Fleet isn't currently engaged in any action and is lying as a reserve fleet out in the bay. It could be put to better use aiding the Western Covenant."

Ripley nodded. "I'll have a message sent to Admiral Delaware right away to tell her to relocate her fleet. I'll have one sent to Jean-Pierre too, to let him know that we plan to send a fleet to aid them."

Oceanion was going North.

"Save our people!" Laurine replied in outrage "As if that is even possible! You went on an offensive assault and wiped some of our largest cities off of the map and you expect me to say thank you for this opportunity!

Calm down The voice reappearing in her head

You have killed, or transformed innocent civilians, you have salted our earth and brought a fungus to wipe out the rest!

you can't loose control of your anger

We did nothing to you, yet you attacked us. We did nothing and yet you slaughtered us. What do you think you are?

you must stay calm or else...

As her angered peaked fighting off the pain. Her eyes turned purple, and her body body began to turn grey as the dormant fungus spread through out here body. In one swift body movement the fungus as if following her commands spread off of her body, and began rapidly expanding in the room. Her body color changed from the greyish color into the more vibrant colors of the forest she had nearly died in, as the fungus began its assault on the FoAS warship

(I still don't understand the rolling system so could some one roll its effectiveness?)

News from Oceanion M. Prime Minister. One of Jean-Pierre's many aides said as he handed him the paper. Jean-Pierre never could remember his aides names they didn't really leave much an impression. They yelled stuff out to him some times, and then he would probably never see them again.

Huh Evacuate the Population what does Oceanion think we are doing twiddling our thumbs. We only have some many ships, see if we can't get them to help out with the evacuation at Mercôté. More allies are better so I won't complain but we've lost a lot of land it seems the FoAS have secured the lands between Nic, Forêt, and Hera. I fear Mercôté will fall before the majority of the evacuation is complete.

What about the survivors outside Nic Monsieur?

Any attempts to get them by Helicopter has failed either the FoAS or the Fungus will get them, and honestly I don't know which one is worse.

and the Eastern Mountains?

Full scale evacuation If possible tell people to get to the port of Dula in the North if not to simply head east. The days of wandering gypsies have returned. Make sure the Covenentians help the Peruanans they will not be used to this type of life style. Any defense forces left are to destroy the rail line, and escort any civillians to Mercôté we must abandon the mainland, but we cannot loose Mercôté yet.

Mercôté

Major Johnathan's party finally arrived at Mercôté with 30 civilians and 6 more soldiers. Once a beautiful port town had become disgusting and rancid. Disease was spreading throughout the refugee camp, and food was short. A few of the civilians simply left to find another way . The rest ended up in the camps. Johnathan never saw them again. Defense Forces were spread throughout the camp, other then his own party only 3 others had the emblem Forét Cacheé. People were saying in the camp that only one Soldier from Bruyére had arrived. He had been found on a life boat drifting North. He was barely alive. Most of the troops were from Hera, and Nic which were abandoned faster then Forêt. His party was assigned to the North Eastern quarter of the city near the ferries. Each one left with around double its capacity. Help was needed or else people would be trapped with nowhere to go.

Yolki-Western Covenant railway

Postby Yolkia » Sun Jul 26, 2015 6:55 pm

James Lemming said goodbye to his son, he stepped on the railway lines as soldiers entered, more than a million men entered the railway, an army that big hadn't been amassed since the civil war. Supplies were also stockpiled for the trip and the populous. His son would remain in the capital in the anti air unit. the train engine's sound hit the men's ears, quickly the gears twisted and the line was going. pushing through the ground the trains had been armored. James leaps from his seat to walk near the men. originally the railway would've reached the middle of the mainland but chances are, the line would've been destroyed. the train started pushing faster and faster but the men in the cabin were not fazed. "General, please, we must reach the border in less than a day, there is a small train checker to avoid us from crashing on destroyed railways." Pedro Vazquez noted to him, one of his brows had a cut by the further end.
"very well. i hope the men are ready to walk, if we do encounter any beaches we will walk to the covenant if necessary." Lemming said. the train was very noisy but fast enough to avoid any light vehicles. the main problem was from the sky, the lines were covered by trees and sometimes even underground but still a problem. in the train there were motorized cavalry, lead by Fernando Tipemonte, heavy tanks, lead by Emanuel Lopez, artillery, lead by Pedro Vazquez and finally, the main bulk of infantry, lead by James Lemming.

hours passed in the train but not much action, a couple of the last trains got shot by some of the random marines but other than that nothing. Yet, they were nearing Old-Town, the biggest city before the war, little remained in the rebuilding effort but reports said it had been taken over by the Federation. the trains didn't pass trough the heart of the city, but really close. Needless to say the men were waiting. The forward scout-train passed by without problem. they might have not noticed the railway. James was in the cockpit as he saw in the distance a group of marines investigating the scene. one of them noticed the train speeding towards them and began calling for reinforcements, whom weren't in the vicinity. one of the marines began shooting at the head of the train but the reinforced windows avoided the damage, "Faster!" James shouted as the accelerator was pushed to the limit, the driver relayed the message to the other drivers whom weren't far behind. The soldiers in the train loaded their guns and as they flew by unloaded the shots at the general direction of the enemy, whom had found cover near some trees. the second and third train passed with little resistance. as the fourth train passed they saw as more marines prepared themselves. The fifth, and final, train neared the scene the marines unloaded on the wagons, the men inside fired back, the exchange lasted mere seconds but those were hellish seconds. Little men died, but that didn't worry James, the Federation now knew about the line, and could possibly destroy it, the message could trigger them to follow the rail north or south.
less that an hour passed when the scout train bot sen a final message -line unreachable- it was outside the border of the Western Covenant. The trains slowed their engines as they reached the place where the line had ended, the convoys and the men unloaded the wagons and began a march, the scouts ran out as they were nearing the border with the covenant. -you don't want to go there- a scout rang James audio. -I can see tons of marines waiting in the station- the men started moving northern-more, another scout rang -I can see some Peruanans in caravans- he stopped -they seem pretty bummed out- James started heading in the direction of this scout, -they are leaving the claimed borders- James opened a small book 'Gypsy culture for dummies' they maintained the direction as he read the pages. "hmm, interesting, these people are constant migrators!" he paused "the Peruanans are gonna love running away..." -should i make contact- "Yes"...

The scout approaches the men on the wagon. with his arms in the air.
Rolls for the safety of the railway line
DICE ROLL = 14 (minor inconveniences and doesn't reach the full trajectory)

Yolkia railway

Postby Federation of Aligned Species » Mon Jul 27, 2015 8:41 am

A Federation Warship moves towards the railway with the yolkia on it. In the sky you can see its SHPMACs charging up. Talon dropships begin deploying and Marines inside shoot down at the train. The Federation is stalling the yolkia while warships on the borders glass the covenant so that when the yolkia arrive, there is nothing to arrive to.

Whilst the scout talks to the Gypsies James men were far from the train, it was abandoned and burned. "Come along men, the scout headed this way" he lead them out to unclaimed land, there he would divert further and do a U move towards the 'secured' area. "southern scout do you copy me?" -yes, i'm hiding in some bushes, nothing seems to be moving around here, except for that deer over there, that guy's going nuts- "ok, keep me informed" shortly after the scout was ambushed, he didn't have a chance to report back. the sun was setting as the men neared a large hill, "we rest here, establish camp, drop the trenches, hold the artillery and prepare the anti air guns!" he told the men's commanders. soon, in less than an hour, the immense camp had been settled.
"sir, there is little food around here, the soil is fruitless and the animals are scarce." a private stated from outside his tent.
"we have supplies in the wagons, enough for a couple months." he noted, anything after that and they would surely have to head for more fertile lands. he noted to himself. their anti air guns could hold an attack for a couple of days, They wouldn't remain in camp for more than four hours. scouts along the perimeter were instructed to report in every five minutes so to avoid any ambushes.

Eastern trenches

Postby Yolkia » Mon Jul 27, 2015 5:05 pm

"Sir, the Peruanans are here!" the forces that pushed from behind the advancing Marines had distracted them whilst pushing them up to the reach of the artillery.
"Peruanans! tell them to remain out of the main trench and to wait for my orders" the private looked nervously.
Marc-Antoine Grosvenor stormed into his room and the two imposing figures were standing head to head with each other. "So you must be Frederico Montero... well i must say its an honor."
"Mine, listen, what we have in front of us is a heavily structured war machine..." his counterpart looked confuses, "Meaning that they wont shift formations randomly, thus they are to be surrounded and then we can hack them down. Sara Trufa's scattered forces have left eastwards, they could potentially reform and hit them in the back. The sound of the heavy artillery shocks the sky as the pleasure begins, the marine formations are being pommeled by shrapnel and heavy shot alike, soon the pleasure is on. as they begin making their way closely to the trenches the walkers commence their counter artillery, the trenches have been designed to reduce the damage dealt by artillery yet the precision from the Federation manages to inflict more damage than any other force had. With the marines closing nearer the light artillery begins their display, faster when reloading and shooting, cheaper to produce and fire, this guns have limited range and damage, yet mobility makes up for this, they shoot lateral to the men ensuring multiple casualties. The men have yet to fire at the marines whom are still out of range.
"Here is the plan we've come up gentlemen. you see we expect them to push through the path of least resistance when the reinforcing men are to jump around them, we've heard nothing from Sara and must assume she has fled, she and her forces could return, yet we shouldn't count on that." the map is set on the table for the generals to see.
Image
"the thickness explains the possibility of their actions, we could be wrong, and i hope we are, once the men in the first row have been occupied the second rows can shoot over the head of our men. Any questions?" Montero explained
"Yes, what if they don't follow the lines?" Carlos Chongero noted, "They could potentially surround us!"
"I hope they don't follow this lines, if they attempt to surround us they leave big spaces between their units, that could create an opportunity for us to re-surround their surround."
"And if they form a line along the flanking?"
"Then they would overstretch, thus allowing us to charge through their lines." Frederico looked around to ensure there are no other questions.
"What if they focus on one point?" Grosvenor said, she had planned the strategy and was certain of the answer, she just needed the generals to know the answer, "say, if they charge the middle?"
"We surround them and focus artillery, after that we kill em' dead." he puts the markers down. "it'll be a walk in the park" the generals, dismissed, walked to their trench positions as snipers from both sides started the exchange, minutes after the first line infantry ratted at the enemy, mini-guns teared the enemy lines as the battle was about to start...

Yolkia-Covenant Border

Postby Federation of Aligned Species » Tue Jul 28, 2015 9:12 am

The Federation had seen yolkia movements on heat signatures and have deployed a force of 6.4 million Marines along the Yolkia-Covenant Border. Marines alongside DreadNite and a few lesser species of the Federation wait. Hover Tanks and GroundShakers wait for orders to blitz the enemy lines. The Federation is also glassing the land behind them so that the yolkia, should they push through, arrive to scorched land and no welcoming party. A force of 1.2 million Thralls is also added to the garrison of 6.4 million. A DreadNite Command and Control unit(aka a Prime) is in charge of this operation. With superior understanding and visual of the battlefield, this commander would be able to control the battle with quick responses. Little risk was also included to the Prime as if it were destroyed, it would simply switch platforms(Bodies) and continue on. The Federation is also seen in the distance landing gigantic ships and leaving behind large structure. They are already colonizing the land, making residential buildings of tremendous feet. Buildings falls from orbit and unfold into the ground. The skies are a dust brown and black, with scattered balls of fire raining down. These balls of fire are buildings or drop pods or even ships. The sky is littered with fire.

Yolkian Encampment, Yolki-Covenant Border

Anastasya hated being cooped up here. She wanted desperately to push on to the Western Covenant at all costs, on foot if necessary. Nevertheless, she was a relatively junior Captain and knew this wasn't her call. What's more, nobody could build defences like a Yolkian. If the Federation did attack the camp, they'd have a hell of a fight on their hands, especially when such a gargantuan force resided here. She looked across at her crew, all sat together chatting and laughing despite the circumstances. They'd all been thrown into this conflict at the deep end rather, none of them had expected to lose their ship, the OSS Danger, and have to fight on land. They now accompanied the Yolkians on their northern push, and they hadn't done so alone. The Oceani reinforcements that had arrived to help liberate Tigrillo also had come with the Yolkians on the trains north, making the force in the camp the best of two armies.

***

War Tent, Camp Creedo, South of the Yolkian Border

"Sir, we've just recieved word that the train convoy has been attacked by the Federation's forces" the soldier told Harris Vmon. "Casulaties were limited, however," she continued "so they've abandoned the railway and have set up an encampment." The officers all glanced at each other nervously. "The Federation are now launching an assault on the camp, millions of troops are there. It's as if they're pulling troops from all over to focus on the camp." There was a moment of silence.

"Then we force them to take the fight elsewhere," Operator-General Ripley spoke up. The officers all turned their eyes to her. "The Federation has just made a very big mistake," she told them. "By focussing their resources on the camp, they'll have taken troops out of the Western Covenant. The camp will be well defended and so will be able to hold out, at least for some time. Meanwhile, a decreased Federation presence in the Western Covenant may allow the resistance to beat them back a little. This is an opportunity we have to take."

"So what do you suggest?" asked the Prime Minister.

"Keep the Imperial Garrison by Yolkian shores," Ripley advised "but send the Hummerland and Elizabeth fleets up North to the Western Covenant like the Wnescia Fleet has gone. Right now, they are the only people we can help. And by God, do they need it..."

Vmon nodded and the order was given.

***

Bridge, OSS Protector

The Protector was the flagship of the Wnescia Fleet. It was one of the Oceani Navy's few aircraft carriers, and one of the two engaged in the Yolkian conflict. It was smaller than the OSS Imperator, but could still be a considerable adversary. On board the bridge, one of the radio operators received a transmission from HQ at Camp Creedo.

"Admiral," he called out "news just in: the Hummerland and Elizabeth fleets will be coming with us to the Covenant."

"Good," Admiral Freja Luft replied. Her craft was cutting through the tropical waters of the Yolkian Bay, and behind it an armada of smaller vessels followed. Nevertheless, the greater the strength of the aid to the Western Covenant, the better. "We continue to Mercôté" she ordered.

A long way behind the Protector, a large number of grey Oceani battleships began to power away from the seas outside Tigrillo and go North, towards the war-torn Western Covenant.

The edit I made to this was rectifying Luft's rank to Admiral from Captain (as she is in charge of the fleet)

Added more cities; wanted to show how sandwiched Dula truly is right now

"The FoAS seem to be slowing down as the Yolkian arrive from the south. They are fighting a two sided battle with the fungus on one side and the Yolkians on the other. The Southern border has been captured but the fungus was able to take back some ground near Bruyère, Sir." Paillard voice rang from the video feed.

"You act as if the Fungus is on our side!" Jean Pierre responded

"If anything sir its neutral. Which is damn well better then on their side. At least the fungus kills our people, and doesn't turn them into things. They are keeping the FoAS divided giving us more time to evacuate."

"I see, and the abandoned territories?"

"We've seen minimal casualties on the Eastern border as most were able to escape via Dula or the mountains. With a large part of their force battling the Fungus The FoAS approaching Mercôté have slowed down that being said the troops have taken a large part of the abandoned zone under control. We have larger casualties there due to a larger population of elderly, and longer distances to travel. I would also like to note that about 60 Peruanans helped fight off the FoAS saving hundreds of lives in their valiant effort. I believe they took their own lives before they could be converted.

"How is the evacuation going over there"

"We've evacuated about 20% of the people here. Some of the ferries are breaking down, we are making quick repairs but they don't last long. Other ships are allowing Refugees on before leaving the area entirely. We need more boats and quickly."

"Oceanion is on there way we can ask them for support more fleets are following behind the initial one."

"Sir tell them to be careful getting to close to land The FoAS controls most of our coastline now."

While we haven't been part of the Yolki-FAS war, I have noticed that (a) many of your cities are French in name; (b) You have refugees; and (c) Oceanion is involved. We don't want to stick our nose in where it's not needed or wanted....BUT....Nouveal Acadie would be happy to airlift or boatlift french-speaking refugees and rehome them in Nouvel Acadie...I'm sure Harris Vmon could place a quick call to Isabelle to arrange it....

Western Covenant

Postby Federation of Aligned Species » Thu Jul 30, 2015 8:20 am

The Federation has its warships scattered across the mainland, zones considered unoccupied by the federation are glassed by SHPMACs. To combat the fungus, Plasma throwers are given to certain marines to burn the land. Cities along the coastline are considered dull targets and are imediately evacuated of federation troops. Moments after, warship converge and glass entire cities. The Federation let's Thralls proceed to ravage what is left of the mainland but most federation forces converge on the isle, where the western covenant is seeking refuge. To do that the federation will send 33.8 million marines to the tip of the mainland and try to take control of it. This way, artillery can be slugged at the isle before invasion

Postby Federation of Aligned Species » Thu Jul 30, 2015 8:24 am

A plasma bolt rips through the air and the village is suddenly pounded by GroundShaker Artillery. Thralls begin converging on the village in a hope to destroy the resistance working there. In the distance, 10 gunships can be seen landing, deploying Federation Marines. The Federation plans to return to the yolkia capital shortly, but for now is focused on destroying pockets of resistance. In northern yolkia, the federation guards it's new colony fiercely and is assimilating the civilians that had not evacuated in time.

Wnescia Fleet

Postby Federation of Aligned Species » Thu Jul 30, 2015 8:28 am

Off in the distance from the fleet, a Federation Squadron of Warships is approaching 2 kilometers out. Behind the fleet another squadron can be spotted. The Federation detected the fleet on heat signature scans of the planet and has moved to intercept.

Upper Deck, OSS Protector, Yolkian Bay

"That's them?"

"Has to be. Notify the Bridge immediately."

As his comrade dashed off, the sailor returned his gaze to where a little group of Federation Warships was approaching the fleet. Another group had been spotted approaching from the rear. The Wnescia Fleet was going to have a fight on their hands. While a couple of squadrons of warships was nowhere near a match for a full-scale Oceani naval fleet, it was going to cost them some time and they were needed in Mercôté right away.

***

War Tent, Camp Creedo

The tent was full of furious debate and planning about how to get the fleets to Mercôté as soon as possible but no plan of action was formed. It seemed that it was inevitable the ships would meet some resistance or be delayed even longer trying to avoid it. In the end it was decided that the fighter jets on board the Protector would launch to combat the warships before they reached the fleet, allowing most of the ships to keep moving. The OSS Firestarter and the OSS Dancer would mobilise their powerful ship's guns against the warships. Nevertheless, there was still worry that the fleet would take too long to reach the Western Covenant. All eyes had turned to the Prime Minister for an answer.

"I know a woman who may be able to help us," he told the officers, "but I really shouldn't do this..."

Labroude, Nouvel Acadie

An aide handed a letter to Isabelle d'Orleans who, seeing from where it came, instantly opened it and poured her eyes over the contents.

My Dear Isabelle,

I am so sorry for how long it has taken me to reply to your letter. Things have been more than hectic here as we try to wrestle with this menace and the time for letter-writing is scarce at most. I wish dearly to be able to write of how your letter warmed my heart but alas, this note must have a more serious purpose. I know that we said that what existed between us would never stray into the tempestuous realm of international politics despite, or rather because of, the positions we both hold. Nevertheless, I feel I must ask you something now which is a matter more than you or I as persons, and is in the realm of our respective countries.

The situation in the Western Covenant has soared beyond dire. It is a genocide we are fighting against. The city of Mercôté on the North coast of the Covenant's mainland has become one massive refugee camp and it is about to be overrun by the Federation's forces. There is nothing we can do. We are sending an armada but it may be too late.

I hate to ask something like this of, but I do not do so for myself. The lives of millions are at stake. It is for them that I ask if you can persuade Marie-Collette to aid with the evacuation. There is nobody else we can turn to. You are our only hope, my only hope.

Yours forever,

Harris,

Queen Marie-Collette considered Isabelle's request.

"We are, first and foremost, a French Kingdom," she began slowly. "What we have here is an international crisis, with French people in danger." She appeared to be thinking aloud more than identifying a strategy. "I suppose international opinion would be on our side, especially if our only role is one of evacuating innocent refugees...and besides, it would not hurt to reesttle some of these people in Orléans - after all, it would dilute, even if slightly, the overwhelming majority of ethnic Euskaldunaks in your duchy...do you think they will be accepted by the local population, Isabelle?"

"Yes, I do. These people were in crisis themselves, and we provided aid...I think they will understand our doing the same in Mercôté," Isabelle responded.

"On the other hand," the Queen continued, "this is a very dangerous situation, and we could lose everything. Of course, that has never stopped me before... Let's get André-Deion on the line, and see what he recommends."

The situation was discussed at length between André-Deion, the Queen, and Isabelle. Finally, André-Deion suggested a plan.

"My Ladies, our fleet of naval ships are very large and slow, and easy targets from the air or sea...and we need them to guard our homeland coasts - and to surround Tol Brandir if we are to stick with our plan to hold Cardulan there.

I recommend our fleet of corsairs. This would be a perfect operation for them."

"Then we are decided. Let Harris know of our decision, Isabelle."
---------------------------------------------

Harris,

I am in receipt of your last communiqué. The Queen has agreed to respond to your request. André-Deion, the Commandant of our Navy, has chosen to send the Kingdom Corsairs.

Unlike a usual navy, the Corsairs are a fleet of some two dozen private ships that serve as the private navy of the Duchy of Valenciennes, directly under André-Deion, under letters of Marque and Reprise. They are fast, small, and agile; even when our Navy suffered devastating losses during the War of Cold Sand, we lost not one of these ships. Each could transport several hundred refugees, and it is likely that they would be much more able to avoid detection and strikes by the enemy than our larger naval vessels.

As I write, they have been activated and are underway. André-Deion believes that they can be in Covenant waters in 48 hours.

Stay safe, my dear...I am looking forward to you safe arrival here at the end of these hostilities.

Fondly,
Isabelle d'Orléans

Terset

"Sir news is coming in Oceanion has been slowedf down, but Nouvel Acadie has stepped up to help with the evacuation. They are willing to take survivors to Nouvel Acadie, and resettle them."

"That is good news, we may never be in the same country again but they are still brothers, and sisters of the Covenant. tell Oceanion to give the okay for their operation."

"We also have news that the final beacon has fallen, should we warn the Yolkians that they might try to establish one in The Western Covenant?"

"No it is fine most of the mainland sits on top of unusually magnetic rock. It is unsuitable for sending transmissions into space, we need not worry about a beacon in our lands any detail on their movements?"

"Dula has fallen but the evacuation was a success the only major causalities were from the Defense Force, The Eastern border has been completely evacuated."

"What about Mercôté?"

"Our Intel shows they are gearing up for a large surge forward. The Fungus is slowing down on the burnt lands, but it seems to be growing quicker each day, I believe that some of the fungus is mutating to fit its environment. Tests done outside Dula showed some strains are becoming resistant to fire as well. It seems they are focusing on securing the mainland before trying to wipe out the fungus. At the moment they seem to be landing a lot troops. Their landing ships can't get any closer meaning they have to go by land the rest of the way. Our EMP barrier has been activated in the mountains outside of Mercôté so their troops will have to walk until the EMP's are destroyed, which is no easy task."

"can you give us an ETA?"

"We have two weeks at best, depending on how fast they can take out the EMP's at worst a little less then a week."

"Hopefully we can get enough people off the mainland."

Eastern Trenches

Postby Yolkia » Fri Jul 31, 2015 11:01 pm

The Federation was getting nearer. They had followed the path planned by the men and moved towards the paths of least resistance, the reinforcing Peruanas and some covenant soldiers moved to their position. Artillery shells were raining over the advancing masses, some of their own artillery had exchanged fire. Their forces were pushing and the defenders rifles were ripping them down. Their forces began their charge as the defenders on the second and third row fired over the first row of defender's heads. They clashed with heavy repercussions, soon the Peruanas were pushing at them. The trench men were accustomed to melee fights, yet the strong armour from the marines resembled them more to a heavy cavalry than a melee unit.
The first lime held for several hours of waves as marines filled the trenches. "Fall back from the first trenches!" Frederico issued the command and the lines fell back to the second line, in between charges. The marines started to climb up-hill towards the higher trenches and, much slower, hit the second trenches, they had more men in the back in case the Yolki managed to reform, these weren't able to be redirected towards the battle. The trenches were filled with blood, from both sides, bodies litter the climb making it even harder for the attackers. The walkers couldn't speed up the hill because they would slip down on the bodies, like feet on marbles. The Yolki artillery was heavily structured as to fire on a pattern. The marines lines were tinning as the defenders were forced from the second trench to the final one. The artillery was partially re-aimed to shoot at their back side defences.

Meanwhile Sara Trufa stopped running. She looked back to the battleground and in the distance she saw the big Yolkian flag flying defiant over the trenches. Her men looked at her, both armies stopped and she took off her helmet, a mixture of blood and sweat dyed her hair a potent orange. "Sara, what are you doing?" Something inside her asked. She turned her bike around, they had gone really far from the fight and nothing was visible from the covering trees. "Men" she said out loud. They gathered around her. "You can go home now, I won't blame you, we're all scared of the unknown for unknown reasons. Leave if you want to live, follow me if you want to know death" she charged back towards the battleground, unaware whether or not she was alone, she didn't care for that anymore.
Rolls for the scattered forces returning.

The radio message came in a little scratchy to the Acadien military command in North Harbor, but was understandable nonetheless.

"The first of the Acadien Corsairs has rounded the northern tip of Archon and Yauguru is plainly in sight. The first boat should be at our destination of Mercôté in 8 hours. No sign of the enemy at this point. Please send coordinates for landing. Over."

Castilla village

Postby Yolkia » Sat Aug 01, 2015 8:34 pm

The final stretch for a secured Yolkian east shore were from operate. Men and women stood shoulder to shoulder, tierd and wounded. Meanwhile the Fortuna men still fresh, their armour barley scratched. The Yolki looked at them in disgust. Few of them actually followed into battle. Those who did were standing with the Yolkians. In their separate formation. The dropships has landed I the outer section of the town and with the help of the shelling got to their defended section with no substancial casualties. The Yolki artillery hit shells to the town, everything in there was to be killed no matter what. The Yolki had prepared their bayonets and waited, Castilla knew that the fresh marines would rip them up, he looked at the Fortuna men whom were in their defencive positions. If worse goes to worse then we have someplace to retreat to, Castilla had this message in his head. His men looked pumped to be there, the forces had divided in three, one for each general, the two composed of militias were relitivley close together whilst the one composed of actual soldiers was the furthest apart, if they hit them and aply pressure on the first lines then they shouldn't have time to reinforce. His numbers should still be his advantage and he was willing to use that to his fullest advantage. He took one final look towards the marines whom had done some impressive makeshift barricades along the streets. He saw the large walls and decided to wait. Something his men weren't happy about. After some time the shells his the barricades ñ, once they had te angle it got hit time and time again, the marines retreated as te Yolki charged, the artillery shelled further into the defended zone as the marines charged back to their, still defendable, mangled barricades. Both armies met on the hight of the rubble as the artillery swooshed over their heads. The marines nor the militia could get the higher ground to shoot over their friend's heads. The walkers arrived in a matter of minutes running, they had the higher ground and could hit the Yolki men standing behind. The light artillery had been moved forward and shot at the several walkers yet they weren't able hit all of the chicken-heads this gs were looking dark for castilla, he hadn't been capable of using neither time to his advantage, thanks to the shelling on the trenches, nor the men, thanks to the mell fights holding them back. He decided to retreat yet there was no way of doing so without loosing a good portion of his men in their counter attack, they could even loose some land. He told the artillery to begin shooting the chemical shrapnel over the enemy force, this weakened. This allowed Castilla to retreat yet the others had no idea of the intention of this shelling and decided to push more, loosing mor emen they managed to take the barricades before Castilla told the militia, meanwhile the actual army was fairing much better, their proper bayonets could do a faster work of the marines, and with some experience I'm Tigrillo they could take down the walkers, they took some of the defended lines but Castilla's message got to them. Unwilling they stood in their taken lands for some minutes until the unoccupied marines neared them, they retreated back to Fortuna defenders and in total, lost 2/3 if their armies, the enemy marines had lost their defences but they began working on the repairs.
