As nation after nation joins our ranks we are ironically getting weaker, a League drowned by its own inability to progress, its own inability to act. I fear this League is in its last days if we do not restore it now."

As for the topic of the nation of Xrevaro's admission to the league, we would vote to deny. Outo of the same reason as Mr. Hito has stated earlier, due to not being a fully independent entity."

"As the two delegates before me have stated, I will also be voting to deny." He turned to the Silverstorm delegate. "What? That's not at all anything like what I said. Also where did you pull Biochemical warfare from? We were talking about nuclear devices."

"Sorry, mistake on my part on biochemical warfare and nuclear armaments, and for my quote. It seems I have chosen my words incorrectly."

Arahbi coughed. "The nation of Yarkandi proposes Resolution 9: Declaration of Human Rights in the Isles. This resolution is written in order to provide the league's stance on human rights, and the violations thereof, in the Western Isles. Concurrently it will be in fashion with Resolution 1: The International Court of Justice, in which they can use for the violations of human rights against those we bring before the league. I shall read it off to you now."

The Assembly,

Desiring to show that the league wishes for the betterment of man in the Isles;

Noting the multitude of human rights abuses that go on around the Isles;

Wishing to provide a more stable ground for future resolutions and the ICJ;

Therefore Mandating;

1. Commanding that everyone is entitled to all the rights and freedoms set forth in this Declaration, without distinction of any kind, such as race, colour, sex, language, religion, political or other opinion, national or social origin, property, birth or other status. Furthermore, no distinction shall be made on the basis of the political, jurisdictional or international status of the country or territory to which a person belongs, whether it be independent, trust, non-self-governing or under any other limitation of sovereignty;
2. Stating that everyone has the right to life, liberty and security of person;
3. Demanding that no one shall be held in slavery or servitude; slavery and the slave trade shall be prohibited in all their forms;
4. Further States that everyone has the right to recognition everywhere as a person before the law;
5. Secures that everyone has the right to seek and to enjoy in other countries asylum from persecution, but not from non-political crimes;
6. Recognizes that everyone is entitled to a nationality;
7. Holding that everyone has the right to freedom of thought, conscience and religion; this right includes freedom to change his religion or belief, and freedom, either alone or in community with others and in public or private, to manifest his religion or belief in teaching, practice, worship and observance;
8. Demands that everyone has the freedom of thought, conscious and religion, and that they may change these as they choose;
9. States that everyone has the right to leisure and shall have reasonable working hours, and periodic holidays with pay;
10. Sets that all humans shall be able to pursue education, work, and a better life, and that no one shall be denied their opportunity to strive to be better;
11. Condemns any nation or person who violates this resolution.

"The sentiment here is worthwhile, though you have some redundancies, and some things that are not fit for such a declaration.

"I would recommend changing clause 6 to 'Recognizes that everyone is entitled to citizenship of their nation of origin;' I believe that is the meaning you intended, just stated more clearly.

"Clause 8 is redundant as it is contained in clause 7. Simply delete clause 8.

"Unfortunately I think Clause 9 is out of place here. Labor rights are a much more nuanced thing and there are more complex factors there such as differing economic and social values. I would suggest removing it for now, maybe saving it for another document?"

OOC: There are some other stylistic errors, but for the sake of positive RP, I suggest that those be ignored.

Arahbi smiled, "I see your concerns, and I shall fix them. This is supposed to be a collaborative effort so I'd appreciate any criticisms.

"Well, 'tis a decent resolution given that, in retrospect, we probably should have set these rights forth quite a while ago. It has our support, for the meantime. As for the admission of Doppler to the League I will again bring up that the nation in question has a history of violating international agreements, and should not be considered for entry 'til such violations are remedied. We vouch against."

Hito coughed into his sleeve.
"The Asorists, as I think they are called, have threatened the nation Atnaia. Fellow delegates, should we intervene as our colleagues in the Coalition are doing at this very moment?"

[Covonant]

A black armoured Audi A8 drove up to the assembly building. In it Marcus Barachiel, a talk man of mixed heritage (European and African Descent) stepped out of the vehicle wearing a dark suit with a green tie and the flag pin of the Union affixed to his collar. He was recently appointed Ambassador to the league after being recommended by the Minister of Foreign Affairs, and approved by the President on the advise of the Prime Minister. He made his way up to the Chamber where other delegates had already assembled. Once inside, he was led to a seat bearing the nation's name (Covonant). He sat and listened to the debate taking place. He took out his folder and listened attentively. He whispered to himself "Covonant has arrived".
