President condemns Saigong rioters in address

Image
President Yang Jin-cong giving an address at Chong'an Palace
ZHONGJING- Following the arrest of Marine Le Pen, a Basquonais known for being an advocate for Gungjuns, several disturbances occured in the city of Saigong, Meisaan. The Akitsu Consulate has been attacked, leaving 5 dead. After the attack, Gaoxiong evacuated consulate staff. The Meisaani Prime Minister, Tong Meili, has mobilized the Imperial Guard in response to the situation.

In today's address regarding the events in Saigong, the President denounced the rioters involved. "The horrid actions perpetrated by gangs are not representative of the Meisaani or minorities as a whole," he said. Yang urged the Meisaani government government to swiftly resolve the situation. "It is my desire that this crisis is addressed with in an orderly manner, and peace will come to Saigong once again."

The President went on to address the riots' effect on Gaoxiong. "Our staff have been evacuated following the attack at the Akitsu Consulate," he stated. On concerns that an event similar to Saigong could happen in one of Gaoxiong's cities, Yang said, "We urge police departments of major cities to be on full alert for any disturbances. In the capital, no riots will be tolerated and will be quickly dealt with."

He also upheld the rights of Gungjuns and other minorities to live in Gaoxiong. "Our treatment of minorities of Gaoxiong will not change, and their rights will not be taken away from them." He concluded his speech with his reaction to the killing of Shih Yung-che, a Gaoxiongese national. "My heart goes out to the family of Shih Yung-che and other families of the victims killed in the riots.

After the conclusion, the Guomindang commended his speech. "We cannot discriminate against minorities, and they and the Tianqians are united with one goal-to better the nation. Gangs are not going to make us stray away from our values," legislator Li Zhi-qiang said.

The address has been criticized by conservatives and those in the far right. "Gaoxiong is simply become too lenient on these Gungjuns! Does Zhongjing care about our people?" Wu Han-long, Chairman of the National Party, exclaimed in response to the President's address.

Yes, Gaoxiong is being too lenient with Gungjuns. If they are going to cause trouble in Meisaan, they are going to cause trouble here. I say ban any more Gungjuns from coming into our great country.

All Gungjuns are not to blame, those gangs are. 99% of Gungjuns are human just like the rest of us! If all of them were criminals, all of Sinju would have been in flames by now.

Supertanker Hit by Missile

Image
The huge oil fire created by the MV Weaver Star, with Cosenzan firefighting boats around it.

Anconella, Cosenza-
In a further escalation of the growing conflict, Basquonais authorities said they would consider Cosenzan economic interests viable targets for military action. Just moments after this announcements, Basquonais cruise missiles hit the city of Anconella, which houses one of the largest oil refineries in Cosenza, as well as two tankers, including the Wexham-registered supertanker Weaver Star. This was followed by what the Cosenzan Acting President described as "a grossly illegal, escalating move" of units of the Basquonais 11th Group Army into the contested Ovest-Sonaia region, where Basquonais and Cosenzan forces have been fighting for weeks over Cosenza's unprovoked military airstrikes against supposed Basquonais nuclear facilities.

The Anconella fire department has deployed all of its firefighting boats to deal with the enormous oil fire created by the Weaver Star, while the other tanker, identified as the Anconella-registered ship Circus Maximus, is reported to have not been carrying any oil at the time. The Weaver Star has spilled an estimated 420,000 tons of oil into the seas off of Anconella, much of which has not caught ablaze and is now drifting and washing up along the coast. Ecologists warn the sensitive reefs in the region could suffer irreparable damage from a spill of such magnitude.

The city fire department, meanwhile, has had to call on surrounding cities' assets to try and contain the raging fires that, as of midnight, are still actively spreading at the hard-hit refinery complex. The refinery itself has reportedly leaked or intentionally dumped an unspecified amount of oil, but a fire department official estimated that "at least 100,000 tons" have so far either leaked from ruptured tanks or been intentionally vented to prevent fires from spreading further.

The Cosenzan government, meanwhile, has decried the attack as a "ruthless, barbaric assault on civilians", and the Senate is expected to vote tomorrow to pass a formal declaration of war against Basquone. The vote had previously been delayed by Basquonais missile attacks on the Capitoline.

BREAKING: Government condemns Akitsukuni's "overt aggression"
Tong: "Too soon in wake of riots"

Minghoi- In wake of provocative military actions taken in the Sea of Akitsukuni by both Akitsukuni and Meisaan, the Tong Meili's government along with the Jiwiu have issued an official statement. Citing several airspace incursions on the part of Akitsukuni and a threat of invasion among conservative elements in that nation, Tong has stressed "strength" in response to adversary.

"We cannot continue to stand down as a nation. Unfortunately, when one nation deliberately breaks the others sovereignty, deliberate action must be taken. I do not regret my decision to send an air-task force over Akitsukuni's skies. In order for there to be a meaningful peace, the aggressor [Akitsukuni] must step down." Tong said

Multiple members of Tong's party, the Labour, are supporting a cease in all military action. Minister Representative of Gaoxiongese descent (Ziwau-L), Xi Zhangqiang, has called for the Prime Minister to "cease her warmongering actions." Others in the party commend her response, but it appears a split is developing as members argue over this, and whether her response to the riots was swift enough.

The Sinju Union and Jeongmi have yet to issue an official response, but attitudes in both arenas are disapproving of the actions taken by both sides.

BREAKING NEWS: Akitsukuni and Meisaan- It's War

Image
A Meisaani fighter goes down after being hit by an Akitsukunese SAM.

Minghoi, Meisaan-
Earlier today, reports emerged that Meisaani aircraft intruded into Akitsukunese airspace, following a period of intense friction between the two countries over the riots in Saigong and the assassination attempt on Empress Kikuko. It was quickly confirmed that the Akitsukunese navy, concerned that a Meisaani formation was trying to attack an Akitsukunese carrier, fired surface to air missiles, bringing down at least one Meisaani fighter.

This follows significant naval deployments by both nations to the international waters that lie between them, in light of escalating tensions. The Meisaani Emperor and the Akitsukunese Prime Minister, meanwhile, further ratcheted up the ongoing war of words between the two countries, which has become increasingly vitriolic since the attempt on Empress Kikuko's life and the riots in Saigong. The Akitsukunese Prime Minister, Junichiro Ishihara, said "if the nation of Meisaan wishes for a war, then they shall receive one," and continued to say that the first shots of the conflict had "already been fired."

The eyes of the world are now on Sinju, where neither country seems likely to back down.

UPDATE: Meisaani and Akitsukunese fleets are reported to currently be exchanging fire, with this publication's correspondents currently attempting to verify reports that the Akitsukunese carrier Zuikaku has been crippled by a Meisaani anti-ship ballistic missile or other weapon.

News Flash! Gungjus riot in Hanzuriki-Kyo
Image

Image
Police blockade in southwest Shunokaikan. Protesters demanded that Subiritoshi take action against Meisaan for arresting Marine Le Pen

Protesters in Hanzuriki-Kyo, the nation's capital, in the district of Shunokaikan, have resorted to violence in their demonstration.

The protesters, almost all of Gungju descent, rioted in Shunokaikan and, in lesser quantities, Kyowashi and Tarawiki.

Riot Police tried to fend off rioters by either pushing them back and firing tear gas and water cannons, or forming a blockade to prevent the riot to expand, like in the photos above.

Shunokaikan is a district full of immigrants, mostly from the white majority Gungju. At first, they were greatly discriminated against by even
Subiritoshi's own government, but over time government racism officially ended.

Shunokaikan has the highest crime rate in all of Hanzuriki-Kyo, due to the rampant poverty compared to the rest of the city. Protesters demand higher standards of living.

However, racism is one of the factors of the riot, as 28%-32% of Subiritoshians are racist towards whites. The government has tried to avoid this by educating both groups about the other, and saying regularly in TV ads that racism is unacceptable, and discourages it. Racism in school can also face expulsion, and it is required in private ones to have racism as a cause for suspension or expulsion.

Gungjus demand that racism towards them to be made illegal in public, as they say that many native Subiritoshians have attacked them verbally and even economically, saying that they are sometimes discriminated in stores, something that is against the law.

They also demand that Subiritoshi takes action against Meisaan for imprisoning civil rights advocate Marine Le Pen.

This is not the first time Gungjuns rally against Meisaan. This has been the fourth protest of this topic, but the first time the demonstrations turned into violent confrontations.

Subiritoshi is well known for not having riots. The last riot was in 1974, when a worker's union protested for higher salaries.

President addresses nation on Shunokaikan Riots
Image
Ryuto Miura, Subiritoshi's President, addresses the nation in a press conference

The President has addressed the nation on the recent Shunokaikan Riots.

Here is the written version of the speech:

"My fellow Subiritoshians, today we have woken up to see that, in our very capital, riots by thugs and vandals have occurred in the Shunokaikan district, in the coast of our capital"

"This act truly disgusts me. But however, we cannot blame the entire community of Gungju migrants and their descendants, who are as Subiritoshian as us, because they live here, and have gone through the effort of leaving their mother tounge aside, and learn ours. We must learn to live in peace with each other, stop the blatant injustice called discrimination and racism, and stop this violence. Both Subiritoshians and Gungjus must live in peace in our cities, and abandon those negative prejudices that we have set upon our two communities"

"As to the conflict between Akitsukuni and Meisaan: we will not take a side. We will not take a side with either party, as they are acting as Kyochizawi(きょちざゐ)[Native word meaning(noun): "A influential and/or powerful person or group that tends to do stupid and/or reckless action". (adjective): "To be influential yet stupid and/or reckless"]. I will not allow innocent Subiritoshian lives, plus relations, be at risk for something not of importance to Subiritoshi. I think all the political parties in Subiritoshi agree to that fact"

"We are neutral. We will not impose sanctions or whatever to neither Meisaan or Akitsukuni. It is not relevant to Subiritoshi. We should not get involved in this fight"

"This is their pointless fight, not ours"

ちる(Chiru)

Ryo Takasura
As the President said, we cannot judge an entire race for the acts of others. Still, I hate when people riot in our streets. And that has never happened before in this century!

Aiko Motohobishi
Stop Gungju immigration! Stop turning our cities to crime zones! Stop ruining our nation!

Shinzo Yashiku
I don't get what Gungjus are complaining about. Le Pen does not even live here! However, racism is an issue.

Happy 2016! Subiritoshi welcomes the new year
Image
Fireworks show in Hanzuriki-Kyo

It is finally that time of the year! The moment of saying goodbye to the Old Year, and looking forward to a whole new year.

The President, Ryuto Miura, chriped on Chiru, Subiritoshi's most popular social media service, the following message:

"Congratulations to Subiritoshi on welcoming a new year! I hope 2016 will be better than ever! And if you don't welcome it, I'll send you to prision by executive order for treason to our glorious republic(jk lol)"

Many people liked the sarcastic joke purge threat on Chiru. But this is not an isolated event. Mr. Miura has been like that occasionally in many festivity chirps he sends. Like in Love Day, he sent a chirp joking that if no one celebrates the festivity, police might raid their homes "for not eating chocolate". Mr. Miura is known for loving chocolate.

To celebrate the occasion, a military parade was held in Hanzuriki-Kyo with aircraft that spelled "Subiritoshi" and "Happy 2016" in Subiritoshian, with colored smoke. 5,000 troops, 30 tanks, 20 aircraft and 1 navy ship participated in the parade in Jihawawi Harbour, named after the first president of the republic, Ryo Jihawawi. The submarine Akirinagara shot a special cruise missile, that exploded into a colored explosion after hitting a target placed to make it explode. This is seen by some as sending a message to nearby Akitsukuni to be weary to enter Subiritoshian airspace, since the explosion was big. However, many discount this theory, as it is possible the military did this to display a great show.

BREAKING: AKITSUKUNI TARGETS CIVILIANS
Bombing raids on Lukdou Island leave more than a hundred dead
Image
Massive fires on the eastern shore of Lukdou Island.

Minghoi- Over a hundred civilian deaths are confirmed after three groups of Akitsukunese Ta-25 bombers targeted an Imperial navy base on Lukdou Island, along with Air Force establishments. The number of missiles that detonated on the island itself is unknown; although Meisaani anti-air defenses have eliminated several "targets" according to our correspondents in the National Redoubt.

Most damningly, a refugee center located at the All-Meisaan Terminal (primarily serving ferry access to Minghoi and Haamun) was reportedly hit by a missile; killing forty and injuring two hundred more. Imperial Army units on the island have established several hospitals and temporary bomb shelters; but current information is unreliable as cellphone access to the area has been cut by federal blackouts.

Several politicians have condemned Akitsukuni for its "unprovoked" attacks on civilians, calling for the international community to withdraw its support from the pariah state. Prime Minister Tong Meili is set to address the nation today at 09:12pm MCT.

LUKDOU TRAGEDY
IMPERIAL FORCES PREPARE FOR DEFENSE OF LUKDOU
Prime Minister calls for "fortitude"
Image
Imperial Marines prepare for the defense of the nation in Lukdou.

Minghoi- The tragedy that took place on Lukdou island only hours ago has spurred a genuine reaction of grief and wrath among many Meisaani citizens, including its leaders. In what is soon to be Sinju's first land battle since the Eulhae War, several military figures along with the Prime Minister have issued statements to, in the words of Imperial Marines Commander Chang Hokyu, "prepare the nation to fulfill her inevitable duty."

At approximately 18:40 hours, over thirty Akitsukunese missiles penetrated Meisaani defenses on Lukdou, not only killing military personnel but also destroying civilian property and lives. Thousands more are trapped on the island- awaiting rescue that cannot come. Following the dreadful attacks on innocent lives, the Jiwiu, following reports from the MCIB and other intelligence bureaus have revealed to the Weekly that Akitsu SNLF marines are scheduled to invade Lukdou in the coming week.

Around thirteen thousand Imperial Marines have been stationed on Lukdou in preparation for the onset of an SNLF invasion. ████████████████████████████████████. ████████████ ████████████████████████████████████████████████████████████ Various anti-tank structures along with several trenches are under construction on the island's many beaches, precipitating an amphibious attack.

In her address to the nation earlier this evening, Tong decried the violent actions of Akitsukuni's military; making clear her position that Meisaan was fighting a war against the Imperial Armed Forces rather than the people of Akitsukuni. "I cannot stress further that the people of Akitsukuni are innocent to these sort of attacks; and I implore the Meisaani people to remain calm in this situation. We must remain in fortitude."

Stocks continue to collapse throughout Sinju following the attacks in Lukdou; provoking the possibility of a global recession. Several evacuation and curfew notices have been posted to Meisaani cities- among them Minghoi, Haamun, and Saigong- amid fears of possible bombing raids on the mainland.

Breaking:Emperor Huemoc Confirmed Dead in Plane Crash
Image
The Imperial Jet's Wreckage

Emperor Huemoc has been confirmed dead by Imperial Septim officials today when the Imperial Jet crash due to what is suspected, is technical difficulties in-flight, resulting in the plane to slam into the side of the mountain in bad weather. Huemoc himself was piloting the craft, it was told he was flying along with an inexperienced co-pilot. The Church has already assumed hereditary succession in this case, having Emperor Huemac's son take temporary regency as Crown Prince of the Empire, until a new Emperor can be elected. Though questions about his age, I mere 24, stop him from officially succeeding the throne.

"Right now, Mazacoh, the Crown Prince will assume regency roles until we can initiate the official selection of the new Empeor." The High Huizilltipotlin Minister stated on behalf of the Meshika Church. "However, we must first honor and pray for the soul of the former Emperor Teoxilotl Huemac. We will raise a joyous ceremony in remembrance and hold ritual to Huemoca." The nation does indeed mourn, with thousands taking to the streets in the capital Tollocan, and millions in Hueyapanm marking the end of the Teoxilotl Era.

Emperor Teoxilotl was 54 when he died, leaving behind a legacy of ultra-conservativism in the name of the Ploactax Faction.

He was a former military man as well, boasting an impressive naval record and co-opted as an Airforce pilot later on in life.

He married the now widowed Empress, Tezolaloni Yaretzi, who does not have any claims to the throne, therefore cannot succeed as Regent at the moment unless elected. "I wish to not partake in ruling." she has stated, shortly after the Emperor's death. He had three sons, two died in the former 1970s insurrection as Special Forces operatives in a botched mission to destroy a rebel compound within the borders. His third son was adopted and legitimized, Mazacoh. During his reign, Teoxilotl was the finger that pointed Meshikan politics in the direction it's headed today, sparking the Nationalist movement against foreign integration, though critics argue it has hurt the Meshikan economy in the long run. He is still hailed as one of the greats, maintaining great stability and swiftly defeating the rebellions to keep Imperial Rule over the country, despite losing two sons in the process.

There are concerns with Mazacoh, as the Church is debating limiting his current regent powers. He has expressed a lust for liberalization, something the Church does not agree with, nor the majority of Meshikans. However his favor-ability rating is high despite this, and the Church has been known to select an Emperor based off positive polling, to avoid internal resistance.

President Kim urges peace in Sinju
Image
President Kim Jae-gyeong had been at odds with couped PM Ishihara

President Kim Jae-gyeong has urged for peace in Sinju following a coup d'état in Akitsukuni led by Marshal-Admiral Kodaira Yoshinaga against the far-right cabinet of former Prime Minister Ishihara Junichiro.

Although criticizing the coup for its disregard for democratic ideals, he stated that the Akitsukunese people "should not turn to radicalism and war to solve the country's problems," as well as that "the only solution for the destructive nationalism which has plagued Sinju is Sinju integration."

A brief standoff in late 2015 between Meisaan and Akitsukuni resulted in stocks tumbling and the suspension of Akitsukuni's membership in the Sinju Union, as well as the placement of sanctions prohibiting arms purchases or sales to the country, sparking fears over escalation and a global recession.

President Kim stated that he would work together with the new administration in promoting stability in Akitsukuni, and proposed new elections under the watch of election officials from the Sinju Union and the Congress of Nations.

Great Bank Finally Responds to the Akitsukuni Situation and Denies the World Bank

Image
Governor of the Great Bank Pelasqin lĭh Sĭhityn-y
before the announcement.

QO'YYEN - It would seem the upper mandarin of the Great Bank, Qo'yyen's national bank, have had a busy weekend. Three months ago the World Bank requested that the Government begin investigation and revision of Qo'yyenese banking law, to bring the Bank into conformity with World Bank regulations so that holders of offshore accounts in Qo'yyen may be prosecuted for tax evasion in their native countries. After three months of silence the Great Bank and the Government issued a joint-statement in defiance of the request on Sunday. Her Excellency Regent-Mouthpiece Rretehanyn lĭh Rretehan-y delivered the address detailing the refusal with Bank Governor Pelasqin lĭh Sĭhityn-y at her side.

"The Government of the Free City and Isle of Qo'yyen, after months of careful consideration, has refused the request of the World Bank to allow them to dictate how we conduct our banking. We will not conform to the standards set by the World Bank and instead choose to conduct our banking as we always have. We refuse to allow an investigation into offshore accounts held in Qo'yyen...the Great Bank has built its reputation and prosperity on its accountability and security. We will not betray our clients, our policies, or our history by handing over their information to the World Bank," said the Governor calmly. The speech, delivered in Qo'yyenese (translated by yours truly) was direct, simple, and direct, like most of the speeches the Governor gives.

The blatant refusal of the Great Bank, and the Government to comply with international standards is troubling for some nations, who are unable to prosecute tax-evaders because their money is locked away securely in Qo'yyen. Though it is consistent with Bank and Government policy.

A memo released quietly a few hours later detailed the Governments decision not to close accounts of leading members of the recent Akitsukuni coup and instead they have chosen to begin proceedings against leading members of the far-right-wing and ultranationalist Ishihara government, recently overthrown by the military. Ishihara's government received massive international condemnation for his policies and actions during the war with Meisaan. The Regency issued a statement on behalf of the Bank and the nation through the Secretariat of Foreign Affairs.

"The Government of the Free City and Isle of Qo'yyen does not condone the actions of the members of the 2016 coup, however we believe it is the most pragmatic way to remove the global threat of Mr. Ishihara and his agenda. The Great Bank of Qo'yyen, as the national bank of the Free City, will not begin financial proceedings against any members of the coup, but we warn that further actions of behalf of the Imperial Military which escalates the conflict could result in the same consequences shared by members of the former government, and diplomatic condemnation by the Free City and Isle." read the statement.

PEACEKEEPING MISSION TO MYAAR'TWAY RESUMES
Image
SNLF marines of the AJOPFOM in Myaar'tway

Myithkantaut, Myaar'tway

PEACEKEEPING activities by the Imperial Military in the war-stricken southern Jungju nation of Myaar'tway have resumed following a three-month hiatus due to the national crisis in last December. The Akitsukuni Joint Peacekeeping Force Myaar'tway (AJOPFOM), which had been confined to its bases in the country or recalled during and after the crisis, has been reactivated and has begun carrying out operations against local rebel groups. The AJOPFOM is a crucial part of the wider Council of Nations Mission to Myaar'tway (CONMIM), with the joint Imperial Army, Navy, Air Force and SNLF force contributing around 70% of the CoN combat forces. This allows other nations to focus on relief and reconstruction efforts.

The Republic of Myaar'tway, located in tropical south Jungju, has been gripped in civil war since 2000 between factions loyal and opposed to the former communist government, as well as certain ethnically-motivated armed groups. In 2005, Operation Freedom Hayabusa, led and primarily composed of troops from Akitsukuni, succeeded in toppling the corrupt communist regime and returning stability to the country. However, rebel groups and fundamentalist forces continued fighting against the new CoN-backed democratic government. Akitsukuni has continued to be involved in the war in Myaar'tway since then.

Unfortunately, the recent national crisis caused trouble for the CoN peacekeeping mission due to the lack of the AJOPFOM's participation. Over 9,500 Akitsukunese troops were unable to do anything but protect their own bases due to the Imperial Military's desire to avoid endangering their peacekeeping troops by requiring them to continue their missions, some of which were to be carried out alongside troops from Meisaan and Jeongmi. During this period, CoN aid convoys experienced a sharp increase in raids and IED attacks, and CONMIM lost two provinces to local ethnic insurgents.

The ban on AJOPFOM activities has been lifted due to the Imperial Military's belief that the global situation has stabilised enough to allow Akitsukunese troops to again operate in the apolitical peacekeeping mission. Many members of AJOPFOM and the Myaarmese public applauded the decision. "It is fortunate that we can begin operations again," said one Private Kimura of the Imperial Army 75th Reconnaissance Battalion, commonly known as Force Recon, "it was very disheartening to have to watch the country slowly slip back into anarchy again while we were safe in our bases. We've been working for eight years to restore order, it was hard to see that go thanks to some unrelated events back home."

Akitsukunese troops have in addition to combat operations also carried out local aid and relief efforts, earning the respect and adoration of locals.

"The Akitsukunese troops fought off the Kachin rebels near our village and built the water purification system," a local villager said, "life would be much more difficult without them. I'm glad they're back."

We need to stop the war, it is a drain on the economy. Ironically this is one thing Ishihara was trying to end, probably the only good thing he was doing.

Cant trust those Meisaanis and Jeongmians. The men better watch out for any "friendly fire" incidents in the future... Who knows what those mainlanders are thinking...

COUNCIL FOR NATIONAL PRESERVATION ADDRESSES NATIONAL SECURITY ISSUES
Image
General Yoshinaga Kodaira, head of the CNP and current
interimPrime Minister of Akitsukuni giving his speech as the
Kantei yesterday

Prime Minister's Official Residence, Heian

THE Council for National Preservation, the Imperial Military-formed body currently acting as an interim government while scheduled elections for the next democratic government are planned, has addressed several national security issues recently via a speech by General Yoshinaga Kodaira, the interim Prime Minister. The CNP ousted the previous government led by Junichiro Ishihara, the ultranationalist right-wing previous Prime Minister whose irresponsible policies damaged the economy and ruined relations with neighbouring countries and indirectly provoked violent and aggressive actions from the mainland nation of Meisaan.

According to Prime Minister Kodaira's speech, Ishihara, as well as certain members of his cabinet, have been placed under house arrest pending trial. Other members of his cabinet and his political party, the right-leaning DRP, have not been prosecuted as they were not responsible for Ishihara's actions. Classified evidence has emerged that Ishihara and four others in his cabinet were largely responsible for the sweeping changes made during what is now being termed the "Ishihara era", and all four will be tried by the civilian judicial system for crimes against the state and severe corruption.

In the recent national emergency, the Imperial Military was taken advantage of by Ishihara, whose nationalist ideals likely threatened Meisaan and caused Meisaan to declare war and attack Akitsukuni without much provocation. This forced the Imperial Military to fight against Meisaan in the interest of maintaining national sovereignty and protecting the people of Akitsukuni. At the same time, Ishihara was manipulating events in a bid to attain total control of the government.

The civilian security agency, the Imperial Security Bureau (ISB), has been heavily reorganised by order of the CNP. The ISB, which has access to paramilitary forces and military-grade weapons, was previously used by Ishihara as a tool to terrorise the populace and to remain in power. This was done primarily through Masamori Obata, the former Director of the ISB, who was also a close friend of Ishihara. Through this unprofessional relationship, Ishihara began using the ISB as a personal secret police force to consolidate his power.

Under the directives of the CNP, the ISB has been wholly reorganised for a temporary time period to be subordinate to the Imperial Army. This means that the ISB's security and surveillance apparatus is now under the control of Marshal-General Yujiro Toyama, the head of the Imperial Army and a leading member of the CNP, ensuring the ISB is no longer under the control of far-right elements loyal to Ishihara. Obata has also been arrested and relieved of duty. The ISB will work with the Imperial Army's Military Police to maintain order inside Akitsukuni.

Despite recent comments made by Jeogmian President Kim Jae-gyeong suggesting that Jeongmi would attempt to suppress Akitsukunese actions in an attempt to maintain Jeongmian dominance over the region, as well as the ongoing trade sanctions by that nation against Akitsukuni, Prime Minister Kodaira has expressed a desire to build peace and stability in the region with his colleagues in neighbouring countries. As agreed with the Sinju Union and the Council of Nations, free elections for the new civilian government had been scheduled for this June, though the need to repair the economy - worsened by the Jeongmi-imposed sanctions - and recent national security events involving major cyber attacks have resulted in the elections being postponed to 2017.

I like the part where the ISB goes from being Ishihara's private army to being the Army's private army, and also the part where Ishihara suddenly becomes some kind of Gungju-level dictator. Welcome to the new Akitsukuni I guess.

Riots In Eastern Gungju!
Recent revelations of government corruption and a newfound desire for democracy lead millions of Gungjuns to the streets!

June Song
Gunju Political Expert and Heian based correspondent

Gorodok, Slavnya Three days ago, in the market district of Gorodok, the capital of Slavnya, a young college student by the name of Ivan Kirill Petrovich poured gasoline over his own head and lit himself on fire in protest against a new land tax law which had driven his family into severe debt, and forced them to sell their family farm. Corrupt police and regulatory officials had apparently demanded bribes upon a request for appeals, which the family could not pay. Immediately after leaving the appeals office, Petrovich chose to take his own life in protest, an act marked only by incredible frustration with the corrupt and ineffective bureaucracy. This symbolic act of suicide, however, had greater effects and implications, as the Slavnyan political elite would soon discover.

Almost overnight, as the young man was being treated for his burns in the local hospital, thousands of his fellow Slavnyans assembled online in support, denouncing government corruption and the state's tacit support of an elite economic oligarchy. Despite fears of retribution by elements of the Slavynan KGB, thousands of Slavynans signed a petition to remove the tariff the restore lands to their former owners. Over the next few days, this number would leap into the millions, with protests being organized and mounted in virtually every major city in Slavnya. While Ivan would eventually succumb to his injuries, passing away three days after his self-immolation, his actions would render him an immortal symbol of resistance.

The protest against Bill 2240-C soon evolved, raising issues of corruption in the police force, other statist economic restrictions, the curtailing of civil rights, the unbearably invasive secret police, and the political-economic oligarchy which dominated and utterly controlled the Slavynan Economy, with nearly a half of Slavyna's GDP under the control of dictator Ventsislav Krasimirov Cherganski, his family, and his associates. Cherganski would later order the military to open fire on the protesters, leading to nearly a thousand deaths, but even this act of violence seemed to be unable to deter the new found uprising which assembled to protest the next morning. It was then apparent that Ivan's land-tax protest had engendered a greater political revolution that fed off of years of repression, corruption, and mismanagement, a movement that had already gained too much momentum to be stopped.

Leaders of this newfound revolution began to call it the "Ivan Movement," almost idolizing Ivan as their new symbol of democracy. Young people wore shirts with his name, tying gags over their own mouths in protest. They chanted the name "Ivan" for hours on end. And even the military began to waver, with entire formations defecting over to the protesters, threatening on social media to fire back if the state attempted to use force. Calling for democracy, civil rights, and the removal of Cherganski from power, the Ivanist movement has gained incredible attention and influence abroad, with famous musicians from Sinju throwing in their support from the pro-democracy protesters.

Now the political future of Slavnya is uncertain. As Cherganski attempts to hold onto power amidst rising tensions and political unrest, the nation's military and civil institutions have not yet made clear their loyalties. New factions, especially previously clandestine Christian fundamentalist organizations such as the elusive CKS (Crusader State of Slavnya), have taken to the streets, taking advantage of the chaos to win new converts and followers from the nation's devout populace, and political frustrations against the secular, oppressive state. Protesters still battle with the police and military in the streets as the nation rapidly devolves into anarchy and chaos.

Cherganski declares that the protests will "permit the rise of terrorists and anarchists!" in rare press conference.
What will be the implications of the 2015 Akitsukuni-Meisaani conflict? (Opinion Piece)

EDITORIAL: TERROR IN ASTURIAS
Image
The aftermath of an Imperial Air Force drone strike on a
Crusader target

Los Reyes, Asturias

TERROR strikes again in the Gungjun republic of Asturias. Long plagued by warring rebels and terror groups, the firm ally and trading partner of Akitsukuni has recently come under siege by another faction seeking to undermine its government. The emergence of the Christian fundamentalist group Crusader State South Gungju Province (ECPGC), also known as Cruzado Provincia Central and definitely related to the wider Crusader State movement, has sent shockwaves throughout the northern and eastern provinces of the nation. Committing violent crimes and terrorism, the group has cut a bloody path through these regions.

The origins of the Cruzado Provincia Central lie in various radical Christian fundamentalist groups that broke off from the more moderate fundamentalist group the Gungjun Republican Army. The Gungjun Republican Army fragmented into various factions following the 2009 assassination of George Walker Bush, the Londren-born leader of the group, in southern Cosenza by Imperial Akitsukunese Navy Umibozu commandos. Violent wars soon erupted between these remnants and the People's Liberation Army of Gungju, an anti-religious communist revolutionary group led by a Mijuan immigrant that goes by the pseudonym Obama, as the PLG aimed to eradicate the religious factions. Facing this threat, several of the largest Christian fundamentalist factions merged into what would become the Cruzado Provincia Central, though the name only began to be used after 2014, after what is believed to be an alliance and not a merger with the eastern Gungjun Crusader State of Slavnya.

Such rampant terrorist groups and armed gangs are not a rare sight in Gungju, where the central highlands remain some of the least developed and most dangerous places in the world. Complicating matters in Asturias are the existence of anti-government groups unaffiliated with these religious terrorists, and all factions continuously battle each other for supremacy. In such an unstable environment, the people of Asturias are the ones who suffer the most, even as their military tries its hardest to battle the insurgents and regain control of the nation.

Fortunately, as a member of the Co-Prosperity and Strategic Defence Coalition, Asturias has received large amounts of aid from its allies in the CPSDC, such as Akitsukuni. Akitsukuni has sent massive amounts of arms and funding to the beleaguered nation, both for developmental purposes and to regain stability in the former colony. In addition to this, Akitsukuni maintains the Akitsukuni Assistance Force Asturias, a joint Imperial Military force aiming to support and defence Asturias against threats, both within and without. Through this platform, Akitsukunese forces have already begun pacifying these dangerous fundamentalist groups in central Gungju, launching numerous airstrikes daily.

It remains to be seen if the conflict will spread to a wider area in Gungju, though the Imperial Military assures that it is prepared to defend its allies and Akitsukuni against these unconventional threats. The memory of the January 25th terror attacks on Akitsukuni in 2004 by the Gungjun Republican Army is still fresh in our minds.

Embattled Marshal Wins Bid for Governor By AART VAN DER KILL, 26 May 2016
BLOZENDKILL, Stejiland — Marshal Jacob Hendrix has been awarded the Crown Party's bid for Governor. This follows the announcement that incumbent, Hans Akkerman (DemAll), will not seek a fourth term. Hendrix will likely face off against the Democratic Allegiance candidate, Duchy Director of Commerce Lambert van Dijk, in the upcoming election.

Hendrix entered the media spotlight four years ago during the Zeewacht Worker's Riots, where his controversial use of force resulted in the deaths of four innocent minority protestors and over thirty casualties. Twenty-five protestors were arrested under Hendrix' command, however, were eventually pardoned at the request of his majesty, the Grand Duke. Legal action against the Stejiland Marshal Service and the Zeewacht Police Department saw charges against a half dozen officers and deputies. No indictments were made.

The Marshal was controversially promoted to his current position in 2009 after the death of Marshal Adolf Gonnig. Hendrix had served as Vice Marshal under Gonnig for four years, and prior to that, spent seven years as the Corporal of the 3rd district and eleven years on beat as a deputy, sergeant and lieutenant, serving twenty-nine years for the Marshal Service and four years in the Army.

Political analysts believe Hendrix' campaign to be a long-shot, with many polls having him down nearly forty per cent to van Dijk.

GWOKMAN MINSIN LEADS LABOUR COALITION IN NEW POLL AHEAD OF ELECTION
GM Leader of Opposition hails "Political Revolution"
Image
GM Leader of Opposition Sin Yue speaking at a rally in Tindaai.

Minghoi- After a tumultuous few weeks in the General Election, the Gwokman Minsin's lead over Labour's Coalition government stands at five percentage points, according to a new poll conducted by the Saigong Bou. Other opinion surveys conducted by the National Research Academy show the margin to be between 38 and 32 percent, along with another poll by the MNN showing a margin of error between 39 and 38 points. The results follow a free-trade agreement signed and ratified with Elwha only three days ago.

Upon hearing news of the results, GM shadow leader Sin Yue delivered a ringing statement to his followers. "We have finally achieved a political revolution that will only continue to grow and spread. It's time to cast off the elites and establish a better future for our children!"

Contrastingly, Deputy PM from the Buddhist Democrats, Ashwin Mahesh, gave a press conference earlier this morning to reassure voters and investors. "Meisaan will be able to overcome this fiery brand of populism. Polls this early can easily change and they will. I have full confidence in the Meisaani people to choose reason over emotion." Prime Minister of Meisaan and leader of the Labour-Buddhist Democrat coalition Tong Meili, has yet to release a statement on the results.

Analysts have been predicting the rise of Gwokman Minsin, a populist right-wing party, for the past two years of Tong Meili's coalition government with the Buddhist Democrats. Several GM party positions -including a proposed exit from the Sinju Union (alternatively known as "Mexit") and protectionism- have gained traction with parts of the Meisaani population who feel marginalized by the political elite and globalization. The economic crisis after the "Lukdou Incident" in 2015 has only played on the fears of an increasingly inter-connected and volatile Tiandi.

The short conflict last year which caused a major economic and political crisis has weakened Meisaani's trust in the traditional political elite. "Economic instability and poor relations with our eastern neighbor [Akitsukuni] have caused a lot of people to reconsider the traditional world order," Said Man Jiyun, analyst at think tank Gongjinou. "The GM has played upon nationalist sentiment to place blame for Akitsukuni's aggressive actions directly on Tong's government, and by extension, the Sinju Union. Sinju's inability to curb Akitsukuni's protectionism and economic imperialism is considered to be a sign of weakness."

Anti-immigrant sentiment, especially after the riots in Saigong, has only served to fuel the flame of Gwokman Minsin's rise to the political stage. According to a poll conducted by the MNN, over forty percent of Meisaani see migrant communities as "harmful" to national unity and the economy.

Neither Jeongmi or the Sinju Commission has made a statement.

United Industrial Workers Labor Union Withdraws Support For Gursultur's Government Claiming "Economic Mismanagement"
Image

President Zahid Gulsultur during a press conference relating to the matter

Today Amir Yasin leader of the United Industrial Workers Labor Union, the largest single labor union in Zadiya announced it would withdraw its support of Presidents Zahid Gulsultur's government. The Union is a major component of the Coalition of Workers, Patriots, and Farmers which is the single largest political party in Zadiya and the only ruling party since the establishment of the Republic in 1957. This is the first time a labor union of this size has withdrew support for the party.

Leader of the union Amir Yasin said in his speech that he took this action because of "the current administrations inability to handle economic matters". He also said "If the need arises we will take action to persuade the government to act in the interest of the civilian population." Which has been interpreted as initiating a strike.

President Gulaultur has declined to speak on the situation as of yet but Minister of Labor and Economic Affairs Şirin Marsum said that the government was "looking into the matter and going into a strong negotiation phase with Mr. Ya sin and the Union." She however declined to comment on the possibility of continuing without the UIWLU's support.

Hejar Şarafkandi leader of the Opposition said the the move "showed the fragility of the current administration." And has called for elections to come early this year and has also has called for a general strike throughout the nation to help force elections to come early this year.

Currently the situation is fresh and we will be giving out more information as we obtain it.

National highway to be built

The Dotood Zam, Yalalt Gajar's first limited access highway, approaching the outskirts of Uuryn Khot

Prime Minister Gerel Ganbataar has announced his intentions to build a new nationally managed limited access highway linking the Yalaltian Coast to Uuryn Khot, continuing to the borders with Tungwa and Sarangol.

The new highway will be funded by an appropriation from the National Infrastructure Fund, which is payed for by gasoline taxes, tolls, and freight railway licenses. It will also be paid for by a new toll to be implemented on the highway. It will build upon the sparse network of already existing provincial highways, local roads, mining roads, and farming roads.

The move comes in the wake of the Ganbataar administration's rejection of Yalalt Gazar's history of international isolation. Last week, he had announced that 90-day tourist visas would be granted on arrival to citizens of Tungwa and Sarangol. The creation of this highway is also an extension of his promise to strengthen infrastructure throughout Yalalt Gazar, and to stimulate the economy.

There are, however, critics of the construction of this highway. Some disdain the highway's effect on the surrounding ecosystems, as well as the focus on car-centric development. Others condemn the connections to the borders, claiming that they will speed up the tide of globalism, and that they will bring in impoverished immigrants. For now, Ganbataar has said that he will continue to pursue economic growth.

This highway will strengthen Yalalt Gazar, and I'm overjoyed to be able to travel around the country and into Sarangol more quickly.

Saeid Ghazî
Just hours after the countries largest Labor Union said is was withdrawing support for the current government Workers affiliated with the Union have started to demonstrate in from of the countries legislature. They've taken to the streets preaching and holding signs showing their frustration with the current system and the current president Zihad Gulsultur who was elected to the position in 2009.

Many of the men matching have said that the system has failed them with popular signs and slogans like "What is Socialism if I can't feed my family" and "Republic Kleptocracy". Many others have said that they've been unable to pay taxes because of the sad state of the current export economy which heavily effects the Mining and Manufacturing industries that constitute a large part of the nations electorate.

At the helm of the Protests was Saeid Ghazî leader of the Assosiation of Liberals and Demicrats as well as the current Leader of the Opposition in the Assembly. He has been one of the leading voices of opposition against the current government and has been spearheading much of the anti-government protest over the last few years. He was at the head of this current labor strike with a microphone saying "Rise up! Demand your salvation from this political prison!" While he held up the Zadiyi Flag.

Protesters were met as the Assembly Building by a large contingency of Riot Police belong to the National Police. The group then moved to Goyija Square which lays between both the Assembly Building a Presidental Palace. So far events have remained tense but peaceful as the streets of central Azabajar are filled with protest chants and anti-government rhetoric of Thousands of disillusioned workers.

Military Used To Control Protesters In Goyija Square. Tensions Mount As More Protesters Flood Into The Square
Image
Protesters Blocking Military Forces From Entering Goyija Square

Zadiyi military forces belonging to the 1st Urban Warfare Division have been spotted entering Goyija Square. President Gulsultur in a statement moments before the military entered the area of the city said that the "Protesters have disrupted government operations for far to long. We will be attempting to clear the area of protesters within the next few hours." Minister of Internal Security Ebdul Qasimlo said that "organizers and leading figures of the protests would be arrested and charged."

While details are scarce as to why the military specificly was called in, people in the government have said that this is because President wants to show a large degree of power and authority. However sources indicate that the military is mostly under the authority of Vice President Xalis Barzanji. Our anonymous source states that this show of force is calculated at scaring people from not going back out to protest.

However in the hours after the military showed up we've seen little movement from the military, in fact the most that been done is the many of the roads leading to the Square as well as one bridge have been closed off by the military. We've also seen even larger crowds of people marching towards the Square apparently opposed to the use of military force against the protesters.

While no shots have been fired as of yet many are worried about the possibility of danger and even violent confrontation. Leader of the initial protests Saeid Ghazî said "I don't trust the military as it stands. I fear that the slightest inconvenience to them will be stretched and used to justify a violent crack down here. I've informed the people to simply leave the military alone for now until we can do something about the situation at hand." While the leader of the military detachment put out a written statement saying "We are only here to follow the orders given down to us from the executive, we do not wish violent clashes and are only here to clear out the area as requested by our command."

Right now the situation seems to be escalating and while not violent it's definetly building tension in the capital. Will keep you informed on the situation as it develops.

Shots Fired At Goyija Square As Military Forces Encircled By Protesters. 1 Dead And 15 Injured in Exchange.

University Student Kadriye Zerdeşt Reportedly Killed In Protest Shooting

Moments ago shots were fired in on a crowed of protesters on the eastern side of Goyija. This was where a large contingency of the Military had set up a blockade and were the major road in and out of the Square. This has been the first violent interaction between protesters and government forces since the start of the protests earlier in the week. The military claims that two groups of protesters from the east and west crowed the station and fired to keep protesters at bay. so far this initial engagement has resulted in a single death and 15 injuries.

The victim of this military involved shooting was 21 year old University student Kadriye Zerdeşt. Zerdeşt was a Mathematics Student at the State University of Azabajar. Military forces say she was part of the demonstration closing in on the soldiers in the east of the Square and was shot as the group attempted to close in on the soldiers. However protesters claim that she was shot at point blank range after a soldier had walked up to her claiming she'd tripped and was shot in the back of the head by this soldier.

The shooting initiated a series of violent clashes between protesters and other military unites in the area that were less deadly. The Minister of Defense Ellameh Ewraz said that 2 soldiers were injured in the clashes as a result. President Gulsultur said that those willing to do harm to military personnel would be felt with "in a manner to most effectively secure the safety of the soldiers." In a later statement he said that he'd be willing to negotiate with protest leader Saeid Ghazî in order to "restor order to the country." However mr. Ghazî has refused claiming that the president "just wants the photo op."

Protests in solidarity with the larger one in Azabajar have started to pop up across the country in cities like Helebce and Serê. The protests have been mostly peaceful amd are lead by pan-liberal elements of society as well as ethnic and rligious minorities like the Daygani. Many Daygani communities have been taken and ruled by what they call "Peace and Freedom Councils" established by the Freedom and Solidarity Party which is a politically party focused on Daygani minority interests. Leader of the FSP said "The Councils are our non-violent reaction to discrimination within the larger Zadiyi society. We are unable to find work in large cities, often denied education, and are forced to live in farming communities due to language and rural land policies supported by the Socialist Government. We demand equal opertunity with our Zadiyi brethren and we feel that such protests are a way to show the growing discontent the people have with the current system. While most areas "controlled" by Peace and Freedom Councils are small villages and farming communities large majority Daygani communities have also seen the establishment of Councils like Ghor which is home to roughly 30,000 Dayganis.

The Interior Ministry reported that the number of protesters has reached around 300,000 throughout the country with 2/3rds being located in the capital itself. They also report that outside the initial encounter in Goyija Square that they have seen little in the way of violent clashes.

President Kim extends no-fly zone to cover all of Ratanakiri
Image

Early Monday morning, President Kim extended the no-fly zone in Ratanakiri to encompass all of the country.

In a press conference, President Kim explained that "the expansion of the no-fly zone is necessary as Chhuon has engaged in human rights abuses against not only the hill tribes but also against his own people living in the lowlands of his country."

Socialist Party Chairman Kim Da-jeong criticized the move, writing on Mimangnok that the President is "extending the poisonous grasp of the new Jeongmian Empire."

A no-fly zone had been declared over the eastern and northern parts of the country in 2014 due to the genocide of various ethnic groups living in the country's hilly interior.

Under the no-fly zone, only military aircraft are forbidden to fly over Ratanakiri. Commercial and humanitarian flights are exempted.

General Chhuon, leader of Ratanakiri, promised to "destroy anyone that attacks or threatens the sovereignty of Ratanakiri."
