President Yang Jin-cong giving an address at Chong'an Palace
In today's address regarding the events in Saigong, the President denounced the rioters involved. "The horrid actions perpetrated by gangs are not representative of the Meisaani or minorities as a whole," he said. Yang urged the Meisaani government government to swiftly resolve the situation. "It is my desire that this crisis is addressed with in an orderly manner, and peace will come to Saigong once again."
The President went on to address the riots' effect on Gaoxiong. "Our staff have been evacuated following the attack at the Akitsu Consulate," he stated. On concerns that an event similar to Saigong could happen in one of Gaoxiong's cities, Yang said, "We urge police departments of major cities to be on full alert for any disturbances. In the capital, no riots will be tolerated and will be quickly dealt with."
He also upheld the rights of Gungjuns and other minorities to live in Gaoxiong. "Our treatment of minorities of Gaoxiong will not change, and their rights will not be taken away from them." He concluded his speech with his reaction to the killing of Shih Yung-che, a Gaoxiongese national. "My heart goes out to the family of Shih Yung-che and other families of the victims killed in the riots.
After the conclusion, the Guomindang commended his speech. "We cannot discriminate against minorities, and they and the Tianqians are united with one goal-to better the nation. Gangs are not going to make us stray away from our values," legislator Li Zhi-qiang said.
The address has been criticized by conservatives and those in the far right. "Gaoxiong is simply become too lenient on these Gungjuns! Does Zhongjing care about our people?" Wu Han-long, Chairman of the National Party, exclaimed in response to the President's address.

Yes, Gaoxiong is being too lenient with Gungjuns. If they are going to cause trouble in Meisaan, they are going to cause trouble here. I say ban any more Gungjuns from coming into our great country.

All Gungjuns are not to blame, those gangs are. 99% of Gungjuns are human just like the rest of us! If all of them were criminals, all of Sinju would have been in flames by now.
