As the evacuations were on-going, Regis along with some of his associates went inside a horse carriage which was waiting outside the port. They decided to pay the Duke a visit. The countryside was quiet and was away from the areas of conflict and clashes. Along with him was his cousin, the Duke of Herrenhausen, William Caelum, who was his 2nd cousin by the younger brother of his grandfather. While a Royal Navy Officer was carrying the Lucis Union Flag that incorporeted 4 flags from 4 kingdoms, Lucis, Accordo, Niflheim and Tristain.

They arrived by the evening of the 22nd. They went inside and greeted the Duke.

"My Duke, I am King Regis Lucis Caelum CXIII of the United Kingdom and its Commonwealth and this is my second cousin, His grace, The Duke of Herrenhausen, William Edwardius Caelum. We came here to evacuate the royal family as fast as possible and We can't delay too much. Now, I understand that you refuse to leave this land and we respect that. But what we request is that for you to evacuate some of your members."

There was then a short period of silence before the Duke spoke.

"Your Highness, it is a honorable pleasure to meet you and your cousin; subsequently, I have already arranged that matter you've mentioned. I wish to have my sister Judith, the Vice-Prime Minister Maung Zin Pyae, and several other members of the royal cabinet to flee to your homeland," said the Grand Duke.

"That is undoubtedly great to hear, Your Grace. The evacuation will take place in a couple of minutes. But, I've been getting quite hungry, lately."

"Would you like some lahpet? It is quite a delicacy in my nation."

The two royals, including Regis's cousin, went on to eat. The king even complemented on how the delicacy the Grand Duke talked about was worth for the stomach to consume. They laughed and talked about the evaucations, until they turned and stayed silent. William Caelum, the name of Regis's cousin was astonished at the sight. At the opposite end of the room, where the extravagant aperture was placed, there was a lady in a beautiful dress and attire, staring at her brother with her eyes rendered poignant after her recent conflict with her brother. A beauty that was supposed to be filled with glee, but deprived of such and much glee.

"The lahpet tastes great." Regis complimented.

William looked at the lady with curiosity. She had the same color as his eyes. The only difference was that he wore glasses. It had been said that William looked quite handsome with his glasses on. He had careful tea drinking manners. However, Like Regis, He was totally not a person full of humor but he is rather a mysterious, quiet and sudden figure but his etiquette was at a high to impress such a person.

12:00 midnight, June 23, X829; The Last Moment

William's Diary, June 23, X829

The lahpat was great tasting and I knew that this was going to be the only time that I'll be able to stay into this land. The Imperials are invading but the Bethausian Troops fought savagely. Tonight, We are going to help the populace evacuate except for those who choose to stay, like Hubrecht. He is a fine man and a fine brother to Judith, His sister. To me, She is very beautiful and looked like a thousand dozen of carts filled with roses and sunflower. The way she dresses is very elegant. I do hope that I could get to know her better. Tonight, I will allow her to share a time for one last heart to heart talk with her brother. This was it, The Last Moment

After the lovely dinner, William and Regis rested for a few moment. Regis had already heard that the evacuation had begun a few minutes after the evening dinner. Officials in the palace had begun to prepare their suitcases and packs for the evacuation to the Lucis Isles.

"I will wait outside." Regis said to William. "You wait for another 5 minutes for The Duke's Sister."

"Ok Regis."

William then went back to the Duke's quarters to see Judith sharing one final moment with his brother. Judith had tears but Hubrecht told her to be brave and steadfast for their nation to survive. William could see the sorrow within the room. She was going to miss her brother and wouldn't want to lose him anyhow but Hubrecht was a determined ruler and will never be a slave to the Imperials and his death in the hands of them was going to be the last act that he could do for his country while Judith had a mission to carry the struggle on with the support of the Commonwealth.

Judith had dripped the most tears of the two siblings and Hubrecht could barely hold his tears. He left his coronet, This symbol of authority over the Bethausian Lands to Judith and left his final instruction for Judith to be crowned as the Grand Duchess of Bethausia. William left them alone for another 10 minutes.

A little later, It was finally time to say the last goodbye.

"Miss Judith, It's time to go." William said.

Judith's eyes poured out more tears and she had a feeling to refuse to let go of her brother, the only one who had been her protector. Hubrecht, however, embraced his sister for another minute before losing his grip and letting his sister go. Hubrecht handed her his handkerchief to wipe her tears and telling her to keep it in remembrance of him. William let one final bow in behalf of the Commonwealth.

"May Bethausia Prosper, God Save the Duke." He said.

And finally, William led Judith out of the Duke's Quarters and nothing was left except for the wind and silence. Hubrecht looked on as the two walked further and further away from him. Hubrecht raised his palm and waved it sideways as a sign of farewell.

The Prime Minister walked up to him, bestowed almost traumatically at the scene of the last moment his sister was going to be with him. He was at the archway, behind the threshold overlooking the hallway of where the Duke's Quarters were in of the palace. He saw the whole moment as if he were watching an ending of a tragic play. His right hand was compelled to grip itself and put upon his mouth as Judith exchanged the last tears that her brother will ever see. He almost fretted, but his strong nature kept that action at bay; even so when he said his last farewell towards her as she trudged down the stairs one last time, with the Lucian Duke at her side. He remembered how her face looked as she set her eyes upon him. Nevertheless, the clacking of his shoes broke the silence of the wind and the sound of nothingness combined and it tried to put aside the memories that were recently given to the Minister. The Grand Duke Hubrecht turned his head to receive the sight of him.

"I think we should get some rest, right now," the Prime Minister suggested.

"Indeed," Hubrecht agreed.

Hubrecht turned towards the opened aperture to lie on his comfortable bed. The previous remark of his left the Prime Minister struck with more melancholy. Those words had been the key for him into seeing the true emotion behind that strong face, presenting itself in a nigh invisible spiritual face of poignancy; Hubrecht's mouth closed in a shape opposite of a smile, his eyes closed in sorrow, and with tears streaming down. He shut his eyes momentarily, letting out a sigh to keep himself steadfast from the behemoths of sorrow that emerged from that vision and attempted to grab hold and control his current state.

"Your Highness," he called out.

"Yes," Hubrecht asked in response.

"I feel sorry for her."

Silence was present, with the wind being a part of the silence itself.

"I know. I too have the same sentiment as you do. But, I'll assure you. She'll grow into a fine, strong woman one day."

Hubrecht walked up with the Prime Minister following him.

William's Diary, 1am, June 23, X829

We finally arrived to the port where the evacuation is still ongoing. Regis had told me that the evacuation is due until the 26th of June with 27 being the last call for anyone to evacuate. By the 28th, We would have landed on Zanarkand before we continue our journey to Lucis. By that time, It would have been the 12th of July. Judith was asleep on the carriage and I tried to wake her up but I decided not to. I insisted to Regis that he carry her cases to her designated room while I carry her to her room. I found out that there weren't enough rooms so I decided to share mine with her. Regis and other Bethausian officials were anxious about it but I promised that I'll take care of her.

I only hope that we get out of this alive.

On the morning of the 23rd, William arose and looked at the bed where the sleeping Judith was peacefully napping quietly and undisturbed. He had slept on the sofa and gave her all the space on the bed. He looked at his wristwatch to see that it was 8:00 in the morning. To the window, He noticed that the ship was moving. He didn't expect this as he was told that the ships were to remain docked at the port til further notice. He left his quarters and went to his cousin.

He found his cousin in the ship's kitchen making breakfast for the two. William went inside to ask.

"Why is the ship moving? Wasn't it supposed to be remained docked?"

"No William, This ship is filled with Bethausian Officials and their families and a few civilians. I decided that this ship be the first to leave since I cannot allow Judith and the others to get captured. I'm having tea and cakes with Vice-Prime Minister Maung Zin Pyae in my quarters currently. He feels as if he is staying in a hotel." He paused for a few moment before continuing to cut sausages and pour a can of pork and beans.

"I've ordered the ship to set sail for Zanarkand and we would arrive by tomorrow. Then by 9am, We will take the ship back to Lucis. We have arrived by the 10th of July then We'll take a train from Devonshire to Insomnia. I've given the Bethausians a special treat once we arrive."

"But what about the others?" The Duke asked, worried.

"Don't worry. Commodore Hikihiro Ramsey is still in command of the fleet. We're the only ones going back first so we can allow the officials to escape. We are currently being escorted by HMS Maitland and her 2 sisters, HMS De Leeuw and HMS Cornwall along with 5 Patrol boats and 3 frigates." He said, before pouring milk onto a glass.

"Now take this tray and serve it for your breakfast with her. Teach her how we drink tea in the Commonwealth. I have made Old Lucian Sausage, scones, cream, Gallian butter, strawberry jam, black currant jam and my friend, Belgen's special marmalade."

"Impressive. What about milk?"

"Oh I forgot, Zanarkian Milk. Now, hurry up and serve the tea while it's hot."

William picked up the tray of food and departed back to his quarters. Regis had done the same except he only carried a potful of Lucian tea. William guessed that Him and the Vice-Prime Minister ran out. When he returned back, He went inside to see that Judith had woken up. Judith jumped at the sight of him.

"What are you doing?! Where am I?"

"Calm down, Miss Judith. I mean no harm. In case you've forgotten, I'm William, cousin of King Regis."

Judith looked startled then exhaled. "I remember you. You're the one who escorted me to the carriage before we left."

"Close enough. Anyway, Here' s breakfast."

Judith went up to her feet and approached the table. She saw the set up and it didn't look much like her family's setting. It was a Lucian style of Tea set up. The scones and jam had caught Judith's eye for she knew it was going to be delicious. She sat down the same time as William did. He taught her the way they eat the food in Lucis.

"This is Lucian Breakfast Tea. My cousin doesn't put milk on it but I do. You simply just pour a couple of amounts then drink. This is quite drank best while eating scones with jam. Here, try this."

Judith took a bite of the scone with jam on it. It was surprisingly edible and great tasting as she had expected. Her first sip of Lucian tea also had the same result.

Battle of Sonlakyaung

Date: June 23, 1903

Days after the recent skirmishes, the Tarhaajas engaged an Imperial reconaissance that were attempting to scout out one of the vital parts of the land that would be under their control. The Tarhaaja forces engaging consist of 730 men, while the Imperial forces consist of 3,000 men.

The Tarhaajas displayed a resistance competent enough to fight off a huge army of men, but the relentlessness of the Imperials has driven them back to the nearby town of Sonlakyaung. With the power and speed of the artillery and of the calvary, they were pursued into the hills and forests. The fields around the town were ridden with men fleeing for their lives from the Imperial juggernaut hungry for blood.

After the battle, the Tarhaajas prayed and begged for mercy to be bestowed upon them. Nevertheless, the audacity of the Imperials has neglected their pleas by imposing their brutality onto their flesh. In addition, there was even a sight of men from the Imperial 23rd Calvary "pig-sticking" the fleeing Tarhaajas.

The battle lasted for only twenty-eight minutes.

"Wow. It' delicious; both of them," Judith complemented.

She took a couple of more bites from the scone after dipping it and a couple of more sips from the Lucian tea. She hummed, shut her eyes, and shook her head sideways in a calm matter. It was her first time experiencing tasting this kind of food. As every single bit of the refreshments provided by William touched her tongue, their savor spread throughout her body rapidly, immediately leaving her to succumb to the serenity of the Lucian cuisine. As she had her second bite and sip, she then set her eyes upon William.

"Thank you for this food, Your Highness. It savors much better than the food at home; not to say that my homeland's cuisine is terrible"

"Glad to be of service to you," William replied, before giving off a giggle.

By the time her homeland is almost invisible to the naked eye, she was finished consuming her meal. William, being a gentleman, picked up the plate filled with the crumbs of the scone and the tea, still ridden with the palatable Lucian tea. Judith thanked him and William was off. Silence filled the room, albeit the sounds of rumble of the ship moving still resonating. It never interefered with Judith's state of single-mindedness. It was like music for her, a music to conjure up memories.

The memories of her elder brother, a kind-hearted human being, began to show again. The one where she made a depressing scene of leaving him at the palace dispalyed itself in her mind for a long time. Every word said resonated, words that evoked such pitiful moments. She put her left hand over her mouth, including her eyes readying tears to fall upon her face again. As she was about to let out her poignant emotions again, William came in at the right time. She looked up, preventing her eyes from making a single tear trail down her face. Judith recalled what her brother said back then, to be steadfast and strong. A short time it resonanted in her mind, but she was able to take them in immediately.

William's Diary, 3:00pm, 23rd of June, X829, Darwin, Kingsland, Zanarkand

We recently arrived at Zanarkand after a night and a morning of travel. It was nice to see Zanarkand again and back to our own Commonwealth lands. I was nice enough to take Judith's bags with her. Back in the ship, I saw her at the deck looking back at her homeland. She was about to cry but I remembered what her brother had said. I went up to her and made her feel not to cry. If her brother was here, He would be in pain to see his own younger sister cry. But somehow, I made a promise to myself that I will make her happy to the best of my ability.

30 minutes after disembarking from the ship, Regis and the rest of the Bethausian officials waited for the next ship which will take them to the Lucis Isles. Regis watched over Judith's bag for her as William took her around Darwin. Regis then enjoyed an afternoon tea with the Vice-Prime Minister, talking about what would await them at Lucis.

Meanwhile, William and Judith were touring around Darwin. She had never been to Zanarkand before and it was full of good Zanarkians and hardworking Al Bhed. William took her to the Kangaroo habitat at Darwin. There were a lot of them and Judith enjoyed seeing the Joeys (Baby Kangaroo) being taken care by its mother. He then gave her a small historical background of Zanarkand and explained to her that it was discovered by a Lucian Captain. There was also the sister land of New Akiba to which Judith was curious about. William promised to take her there in the near future.

"That was a lovely tour, Thank you." Judith said, smiling.

"You're welcome."

"Also, I think it would be better if I was born as a Lucian because there's always happiness and freedom as opposed to being under Imperial Rule. I wish Bethausia was just like Zanarkand." She said.

"I'm sure that your nation will get to that point. But I'll give you a special treat when we arrive in Lucis."

"What's that?" She asked curiously.

"Wait and see."

By 5:30pm, Regis, William, Judith and the other Bethausian officials boarded up HMS Duke of Albemarle. The next stop was Rubrum for a refuel and finally to Devonshire at Lucis. William shared his room again with Judith. He now set up a goal of making her happy.

Liersamarko, Bethausia

Located central parts of the country, Liersamarko is one of the towns that tourists can be astonished with. Its creative designs and great surroundings attracts many travelers and people craving for a safe place in the most turbulent circumstances.

There was a tavern that used to be filled with the conversations indistinct to one's view. These conversations spoke of normal life, now it spoke of war. Several men, Aasialainen and Bamars alike, stared at one man standing. The uniform of the man standing stood out of the others. There were pockets on the chest area and the upper leg of his shirt, his boots giving off a superior intellect. The audience of this charismatic militant man made their eyes cry out in appreciation. The words being said to them was of hair-raising patriotism. As the charismatic militant man finished, the audience cheered for him before heading out with him to the mayor's compound to arm themselves.

The mayor of the town saw the incoming crowd and walked out to whoever's leading them. He saw the leader and his eyes were open with the mouth forming a display of pleasant joy.

"It is nice to see you like this, Olva. You've finally gained a significant amount of volunteers who are determined to defend this town. It is a honor to have you on our side," he said.

"Oh, I would make myself a sick man serving under the Imperial Flag, mayor. It would be a shame to support them," Olva, the charismatic militant man, replied.

With meetings done, the volunteers were lead to where the military crates were placed on the grass. Opening the crates, men distributed each piece of the rifles -- Mai-Tiều, Habricht -- to the lines of men, willing to defend their lands from their Imperial adversaries. Later, they were trained, happy to turn themselves into great men that can do something for their country once and for all.

3rd of July, X829; Port of Suzaku, Quebecois, Rubrum

On the 3rd of July at 3:00 am in the cold night, HMS Duke of Albemarle docked onto the Ports of Suzaku after a 10 Days at Sea and a non-stop sail from Zanarkand to Rubrum. The King looked at his watch and calibrated it. The ship was refueling before its arrival on the Lucis Port of Devonshire which was to arrive by the 8th of July in the evening.

Inside Duke William's Room, Judith was sleeping peacefully as William read a book to make himself feel sleepy. It was a long night and it was rather cold in the Quebecois region. Later, William looked at Judith's face. Her unusual beauty was never before seen in his life. They matched eye colors except that He wore glasses. He placed his palm on her abdomen, feeling the silky night gown. He started to wonder what He could do for her once they arrive in Lucis. He quietly left the room to ask Regis.

Later, He met Regis in his quarters drinking tea.

"Cousin, May I come in?"

"Sure, Mate. What's with the unexpected frown?"

"Well, I'm quite anxious about Judith. She's all that's left of her family. Yet somehow, I feel like I need to make her smile."

"Well, If there was one thing I could do for her, Make her smile."

"How?"

"You know how women like a person making them happy. You know how to do it and make sure you do."

" I see. I'm quite blaming myself for dragging her into Lucis."

"Why so?"

"It's just that She might get hurt if she goes away from her native land and I'm worried that she might not like staying in Lucis. I'm not saying I'm in a sticky wicket."

"Ignore that feeling. You stick with her. Just trust me. Make her smile and see what happens."

After their conversation, William went back to his quarters.

3 July 1903, 7:40 AM

Judith rose up from the comforting cloth of the warm-giving blanket, the bed, and the soft pillow with her hair a bit out of shape. It was unusual for her to wake up at this time. Back at home, she would be awake fifty minutes from now from a bed quite different than in William's room. It must be how the bed feels, she thought, scratching her head that was set on the pillow for a long time. Maybe it has to be this room itself.

The memory of her brother came back to her. All those times when her brother would wake her from her slumber. Laughs resonanted throughout her mind, her's and his alike. Her eye slightly closed as her pupils gave an ambivalent color. She streched her arms to make herself comfortable for the day, before placing a loose strap of her nightgown on her left shoulder as soon as she put her arms down. She had had enough of fretting; the sentiment came to her frequently to govern her mindset, but she decided it was the time to subdue it. Then, her eyes set upon the sleepy William; His least favorite book on his stomach, his eyes, void of glasses, closed, and his mouth still open to let out the air inhaled.

Judith admired his look, a smile wreathed on her face. He was the man who accompanied her, comforted her, and was a pleasant human being. The next thing she never thought of before was put her left palm on his head. Warmth was absorbed into her hand, which kept her smile still. This is a thanking she was giving to him, but even so, it was also admiration.

Then, William felt her palm. He slowly opened his eyes to see Judith in all her magnificence. She jumped when William looked at her, probably feeling that he might be angry for disturbing his sleep. However, It was not anger. William just had a slight smile on his face. He placed his book beside the table near the bed and rose up.

"I didn't disturb you sleep, Didn't I?"

"No, Not at all."

Judith sighed with relief. "Where are we?" She asked, looking at the window.

"Rubrum."

"Where exactly?"

"Quebecois region. It's really cold here though they make great hams. I'll just inquire for breakfast."

William went up to his feet and went for the telephone. Judith rested on the bed again and looked at William as he made his way to the telephone.

"Hello, Uhh... Breakfast for two please.... Tea, Scones, Butter, Cream, Jam, Milk, Yogurt and Rubrumian Bacon.... Thank you."

"What was that?" Judith asked, curiosity filling her thoughts.

"Breakfast. I just inquired some. I do hope you'll love it. However, Rubrumian Bacon is quite different than the bacon you usually eat. I'll just tell you later."

William went to the bathroom to wash his face and fixed his hair free from haggardness. After fixing himself, He dressed onto his black trousers and white shirt. William had a place for good-grooming. Judith could see how he fixes himself. He was different but it was rather enough for a Female Lucian to be impressed with him. Curiosity once more filled Judith's mind with William.

A few minutes later, Breakfast was served.

"Thank you very much." He said to the serviceman.

The two then sat on the table and had a hearty breakfast. It was a typical Lucian Breakfast but the bacon slice was different. It looked like a ham than it was a bacon as Judith had noticed. She pondered.

"Is that ham?" She asked.

"No, It's Rubrumian Bacon. It's just the way the Rubrumians cut it. Though, We also do this back in Lucis. It's actually good."

Judith gave the viand a taste and instead of tasting like an ordinary bacon, It was different. It tasted like it was marinated on a pineapple juice but the Rubrumian Bacon was juicy to resist. She chewed slowly and sure, tasting the viand. She had never tasted bacon like this before.

"This is really great; I like it." She complimented.

"I told you."

William looked on as Judith happily ate breakfast. Her smile.... He wasn't sure on what to do but He now knew what he wanted.... And it would be seeing Judith smile.

Then, The phone rang. William answered and it was from Regis. A few minutes later, He hung up.

"What was that about?"

"The ship will set sail to Lucis right now. We'll be arriving 2 Days from now by evening."

"That sounds wonderful." She said. "I'm excited to see what Lucis is."

A smile emanated off William's Face. At 9:30am, The ship set sailed for Lucis.

Battle of Aanercaung

Date: 3 July 1903

The lands of Bethausia still tasted with suspicion in the point of view of an Imperial soldier. Even though the Imperials won a victory at Sonlakyaung, the soldiers were new to this land, giving the Tarhaajas the absolute chance of exploting the landscape for their advantage. They walked on every space of the field like mischievious boys sneaking out of their homes for an event with their friends, except with eyes expressing anxiety. Pointing their rifles against what's in front of them, they await the onslaught of the Tarhaajas.

About four minutes of scouting about the area later, bullets came whizzing out of the clusters of trees.

"Oh, scheisse! Verdammt, that was a close one," said an Imperial major, his hand resting on his head covering an area of his hair.

"How lucky of you, Leonhard," complimented a fellow Imperial subordinate.

"Please address me in my current rank."

"Yeah, yeah."

A bullet broke through a small portion of the rock, sending the bits unlikely to be invisible to the naked eye towards the shoulders of both men. Ducking down, they pulled themselves together and exchanged their bullets to those covering themselves in the shroud of the forest.

5th of July, X829, Port of Devonshire, Lucis

William's Diary, 6th of July, X829, Port of Devonshire, Lucis, United Kingdom

Finally! We finally arrived on our homeland by the dawn. As usual, I unloaded Judith's luggages and we disembarked from the ship. A train was waiting for us in the station. We boarded up the train by 6:30 in the morning and our travel to the Capital really began. It was Judith's first time in Luicis and I could see her staring on the window, looking at the beautiful countryside of Lucis. The Farms, Cows, Windmills, Towns and various places. She was smiling and It was the first time that She's ever smiled this way.

"So this is Lucis, It's really beautiful." Judith complimented, looking at the countryside.

"Travelling on trains is the best way to enjoy the countryside here. There's alot of flora and fauna in the land. You'll be quite glad to see once we reach Insomnia. There, You'll stay at Dettingen Palace with me, my cousin and the other royals. I just know you'll love it there.

Judith was getting excited, especially for the Lucian Capital of Insomnia. There, A lot of beauty was awating her.

Later, They arrived on the Capital and they rode on one of the carriages for Dettingen Palace. William even acted as a tour guide for Judith, who was delighted with the place around her especially for Big Ben.

"This sure is different from my homeland. This big and quite a delightful sight and that clock tower, I've never seen anything like it."

"That's Big Ben, Judith. Beside it is the Parliament Building. But right now, We are heading for Dettingen Palace for a lunch with my cousin. He had also invited the Vice-Prime Minister and his cabinet for a good lunch and tea. It's even better here."

"i'm looking forward, His Highness."

"Please, Just make it William."

Judith was left with her eyes compelled to taking another look of the extravagant archiecture of the Lucian capital. It was pretty as her homeland's. The countryside of Lucis was just as beautiful as her homecountry's. She was glad that William gave her a eye-opening insight into his country. She wanted to walk around again, to experience being in front of these buildings in person. Arriving at the Dettingen Palacve killed that desire. She set foot on the land with the courtesy of William. She loved how the palace looked. It felt like she was seeing the capital for the first time again. As the couple entered, the Prime Minister and the King were there.

"Your Highness," Judith said as she gave off her courteous inftroduction with her dress.

"Grand Duchess Judith Irmhild. It is a great pleasure to have you here safe from the conflict at home," the King said.

"Thank you."

Her eyes illuminated the same color again.

"I'm safe, indeed."

2 Months Later

Edward, William's elder brother came in as he was writing on his diary. Edward came inside and asked him something in German. William, as well as Regis family was from Nibelheim, also known as Germania. The old name of Caelum was Hanover, which was a place in Nibelheim, A Lucis Commonwealth. So William, as well as Regis has German ethnicity.

"Sollten Sie nicht ihr sagen?" (Shouldn't you ask her?*)

"Like what? Like a vulture eager for something?"

"Wenn ich du wäre , werde ich ihr sagen." (If I were you, I'll tell her.)

"There's a lot of time in the world and I'd rather not." William said, dismissing what his brother had said.

"Nun, vielleicht-" (Well, Maybe)

"Edward, English please."

Edward smiled. "What is it? Don't you like her?"

William smiled, closing his eyes. "Yes, I like her. More than I dared hope. It's not up to me, Is it?"

"Then why not tell her how you feel?"

William paused, breathed and calmed down for a moment.

William's Diary, September 24, X829

The day of the Duchess of Palumpolum's Ball is tonight. 2 months have passed and I'm having a really good relations with Judith. My cousin, Regis and his wife Lucia are actually going to be with us. The Prime Minister of Bethausia is a guest-of-honor and would also raise the cup before we start the ballroom dancing. We first had the Accordoan Sword Dance done by the Accordoan Highlanders for the first part of the ball. This is the day I decided to wear my redcoat uniform. However, With Judith's extravagant beauty, I doubt that many gentlemen would like to dance with her. Unlike others, I'm quite plain and I fear that Judith may end up going with another partner.

After the exemplary dance shown by the Accordoan Highlanders, Judith and the other Bethausian officials were fascinated at the talents shown by these Highlanders. William stood beside Regis and across the ballroom was Judith. She was smiling while talking with the Prime Minister. When the Highlanders had cleared, The Prime Minister greeted the King.

"Those Highlanders, I've never seen such a talent and discipline." The Prime Minister complimented.

"Yes, Well, Alexander just trained them very well. And I think it is time for the toast."

"Lets not spend much more time, shall we?"

The Prime Minister took a cup and faced the audience.

"Ladies and Gentlemen, The Prime Minister of the Bethausian Government-in-exile."

He stood up and prepared his cup. He filled it up with wine and held a piece of paper in hand.

"Ladies and Gentlemen, I propose a toast for the following: For the prosper and safety of Bethausia, The Blessings of the Almighty to Grand Duchess Judith of Sulzbach, For the people who were evacuated for they may continue to live and find the courage to fight and For many more blessings to come. Cheers!"

After the toast, The ball really began. Many gentlemen had picked their partners. William looked around to find Judith. He decided to take a shot on having a ballroom dance with Judith and hoped dearly that he wouldn't be rejected. William soon found her, who was however surrounded by other gentlemen. They were offering her their hand but Judith appeared shy and pretended to be not feeling well as an excuse. They soon left her and William was left. Judith, however, stood up at the sight of William and He walked slowly towards her.

"Where were you?"

"I just spoke with my Cousin. I didn't know that you were looking for me. But now, I'm here." He said in a comforting tone.

"Well... I..I-I'm...uh... I'd like you and me to... well.... share a dance in the middle." Judith said, blushing shyly with fear of being rejected.

William smiled and his face turned red. "Judith, You don't know how much I've been waiting to hear those words." He said.

"What are we waiting for?"

William opened his palms and Judith placed hers on top of his. They went to the middle of the ballroom and began to share a moment.

As the two danced and shared a moment, William looked at Judith straight. Her cheeks were bright as pink and her eyes glittered. Judith was blushing. Her admiration for him grew higher and higher. She knew that William was the first person to be with her ever since she left her homeland. Upon hearing the death of her brother, She was distraught and hit hard. William was the only person to give her comfort and it was him who helped her move on. She did not know that William also had felt the same way as she did for him. William had been refused by ladies many times in the past and he hoped that this won't happen with Judith. Of all the men that Judith had met, William was the only man that made her heart set fire, excluding her brother. William wasn't handsome but his character was enough to make Judith smile and be comfortable.

Judith ruled a nation-in-exile... But her heart..... Belonged to One Man

As the night continued, Judith was watching on the night sky. William was free and decided to check on Judith, who was looking outside a balcony, looking at the stars as if She was speaking with her brother in the heavens. William went inside and Judith caught him.

"Oh, I'm sorry. I do hope I didn't disturb you."

"Please... Come in." She said.

William walked beside her and looked at the stars. Judith was shedding a tear. William saw this and looked at her.

"Please, Just tell me what you have to say."

"Ever since I left my land due to the dangers I will face, I thought that there wasn't any man in the world who would be there for me and would care for me as far as you had done. I am very glad that you were there for my country and most importantly, myself. This is the only time that I've ever spoke to a man like you besides my brother, who maybe looking at the two of us right now. If my brother was here, He would be very happy that you were there even after I heard that he was dead. I really feel what you feel for me."

Judith's tears fell and William wiped her tears off.

"Judith, You are the only person that has ever said that to me in my whole life. No woman has ever felt like that towards me. I've been refused a lot of times and I feared that getting you with me would end up the same. But it seems like there's something thats make it all happen. It was my job to take care of you ever since we left Bethausia and I have kept that promise. I swore that I'd die before they would get you. I don't know how to say this but I admire you a lot."

Judith's eyes widen and tears continued. Her frown turned into a smile. She walked close to William and she rested on his chest before embracing him, William placed his arms around her and promised never to leave her and that Judith was the reason why he needed to keep living. The two shared the rest of the night together before sleeping back in their own room with Judith placing her arms around William.

[align=center]BETHAUSIA HAS FALLEN

Image

By the early dawn of the 10th of July, the flag of our Empire has been raised at the rofftop of the Bethausian palace. Men have raised their rifles up and cheered, proud of attaining the most significant victory of their time. Their eyes were filled with happiness and delight as their hours of intense fighting have come to an end. The Tarhaajas were resilient in the Siege, even moments after the death of their beloved Grand Duke Hubrecht, but they have surrendered. Having enough, the commander of the Tarhaaja offense, Kristoffer Niskanen, has set up a treaty with Imperial Marshal Korbinian Achterburg.

The war against the Tarhaajas has been one of the most arduous times that this nation has ever faced. The Tarhaajas have put up a great fight against us, but they never seem to recognize the full potential of the Imperial military. Thanks to our commanders and soldiers out to that beautiful land, Bethausia has finally embraced itself into the arms of our mother nation once again.

Judith read the front page of the Lucian newspaper covering the same topic. Grimace fell upon her, with the addition of poignant wet drops leaving a trail down her cheeks. Her brother was long gone. Her nation falling to Imperial rule once again. Careful to not fret again, she resisted the temptation.

William came to where she was, with breakfast to serve, share, and consume. He saw her posture, her hands almost forming to fists and her visage looking like she was about to cry again.

"Hello there, milady. What's the matter," he asked her.

"This." Judith moved the newspaper, front-page-up, towards him with her fingers. William got a hold of it, before being shocked at what he saw.

"My beloved nation has now fallen again, under the hands of the Imperials." Judith's eyes showed sadness, but with no motivation to cry. William could tell. He grabbed her right hand with both of his hands. The right moment was about to come.

"Judith, Listen to me." He said. "Bethausia is still not dead. You still have your people with you here in the Lucis Isles, They still have you. Even they had heard of the fall and even I felt sorrow for the loss of your brother but the people still have you... Like... I still have you. You don't know how much I'm lucky to see you alive. Should we have not arrived in Bethausia then you would have become a puppet of the Imperials or meet the same fate as your brother."

"What do you mean?" She asked.

"The truth is, I had a dream once. Your brother had appeared to me in my dreams and he spoke to me in his native tongue which I do not understand a single word but he was showing me a picture of you and all that things that you loved to do. He placed his hands on my shoulders and spoke one last word. I knew that it was words of entrustment. You brother had entrusted me to you to watch over you after he's gone and I've kept my promise to myself that I'll make you happy."

Judith's tears could not stop falling after what William had said.

"You mean everything to me, Judith. That's why for everytime you cry, I'm in pain because your brother's fury is over me. I promised him in my dreams that I will make you happy and that's what I want to do and It's all that I've always wanted to do in this world more than anything else. That's why I'm always being by your side."

Judith didn't know how she was important to William. She had never heard of those words from someone she had fallen for.

"I will give you a minute then I will come back."

William left her alone to speak with her conscience. He was afraid that Judith might turn him down. Judith was the love of his life yet he still sees that something is lacking. Moments later, William went inside the room and found Judith sitting on the sofa.

"Sit please" She requested to which William followed.

Judith began to speak.

"I had this dream once and it was about my brother. I cried to him because I was afraid that no one will take care of me anymore but he had told me that he had chosen you to take over his task of watching over me. Being with you is the best thing that had ever happened in my whole life because it would make me happier, too happy really. If you would agree to what I wish."

"And stay with you?"

"And stay with me." She replied.

William then began to act nervous for one last question but he voiced it out.

"And marry you?"

Judith's face flushed at William's question but knowing she was safe in William's hands, A smile emanated across her face.

"And marry me."

The two then stood up and embraced. They then ceased and looked at each other. William cupped her cheeks and stroked his left hand on her face. The two then leaned in and shared a passionate kiss, Their very first one and it was passionate. Judith now knew how William loves her and William finally had someone to share his love with. The two then ceased.

"I love you, Judith."

"I love you, William."

The two then leaned for a second time and shared another passionate kiss as the afternoon continued.
