Description: In a continuation to their commitment to providing a safe heaven to refugees coming from the far flung parts of the galaxy, as well as providing safe stable regions fo space to foster trade and growth. The USC Governing body, The Council has voted almost unanimously to increase its support in the Quadrant to stabalise the region and support growth throughout the quadrant. As part of this new commitment the USC Navy's !2th fleet is being bolstered and reorganised under the Command of Admiral Marcus Cangorra. The new force will form the Commonwealth Relief and Support Expidition Command or COMSUP Command for short. Along with this bolstering of numbers the Commonwealth has commited extra assets in the form of 12 Fleet basing stations that will also serve as commecial hubs for areas in the Beta quadrant, allowing the USC fleet to more effectively work to protect trade lanes from raiders and threats aswell as encouraging trade between the USC and other nations and entities throughout the Beta Quadrant.

Local news networks, managed to get a statement from President Sebastian Ko the currently elected leader of the Commonwealth Council on the current situation of the galaxy at large and why the USC is increasing its presence in the Beta Quadrant: "The Commonwealth may not have been on the international scene for long comparatively to other actors in the galaxy, but one thing is clear what is happening througout the galaxy is unacceptable and it is our job aswell as every other nation in the Galaxy who is able to help these people find a safe place from those who would see them killed or enslaved.", "With regards to the vote and our presence in the Beta Quadrant, the Commonwealth has a stake in the happenings if the Beta quadrant if we like to admit it or not, whilst Beta is seen to be stable throughout what is being called the Great Displacement it still has its problems and these problems directly affect the Citzens of the United Star Commonwealth what we have voted to do is stabalise regions of space and free them from Pirates and Raiders and foster trade and growth throughout the Quadrant."

Potential Greater Impact(s): An increase in USC naval assets aswell as infrastructure to base assets further from USC Claimed space will allow for COMSUP command to more effectively track down Refugee fleets and provide a more focused and deliberate reponse to any potential pirate or raiding activities. The dual purpose of the basing way stations will also hopefully have the desired effect of fostering trade relations with other nations and seeing more trade flow back towards USC space and vice versa.

On the other end of the spectrum the increase in USC military might in regions throughout Beta may cause tensions to rise with other powers in the area that may see the USC as muscling in on their spheres of Influence.

Description: The North Mack Empire has, by all appearances, fallen. Intelligence reports indicate that a piratical, reaving fleet known as the 'Ravagers' has been pivotal to this outcome. The Refugee Crisis that has been plaguing the galaxy at large is believed to have unleashed unseen factors throughout known space, as the Ravagers have incorporated various criminal elements and militarized groups within their ranks -- seeking to feed a ravenous desire for resources and conflict. Seeking to halt the tide of this chaos, the Empire of Thrashia has chosen to act. Under orders from the ruler of the Thrashian Outer Territories, Grand Moff Alexandros Noventa, the Thrashian military forces have sent an expeditionary force to restore order to the Helmrakai System and hopefully to stabilize an old ally in their time of need.

Potential Greater Impact(s): This has been the first expeditionary force to leave Thrashian controlled space in over a decade. To see the Thrashian Empire resurgent in the affairs of the Beta Quadrant at large may indicate a policy shift among the leadership back in the home land of the Empire or, perhaps, it is a more local effort on the part of the Beta Quadrant Thrashian citizens to shape the pace of events happening around them -- in a more immediate and less passive fashion. Whether or not this expedition will lead to further involvement has yet to be guessed at by most commentators, but few can deny that thanks to a decade of prosperity and peace, the Thrahsian Outer Territories have become strong and begun looking outwards.

Description: Following the discovery of the nation of Alterra emerging from the void deep within the Nibaru Expanse by Imperial Nalydya and Triskel,the High Hunters of the Great Houses of Zhyso, Yamsai, and Natynozh gathered to discuss the most appropriate course of action. High Hunter Cholkük, speaking for the Natynozh delegation, was the first to suggest an expansion upon the then-current Nalydian-Triskelion alliance into a full-fledged alliance bloc. Agreement was reached between the three delegations, and Nalydya soon reached out to Triskel and Alterra, and together the groundwork for an alliance was crafted. Using the now-defunct FB-1 Universe alliance bloc the Coalition of Allied Systems as a model, the Union of Multiversal States was formed. Pordish, Triskelion, and Alterran officials reached out to old allies - and contacted new ones alike - to gather enough nations to flesh out the alliance bloc. In High Tnem-Fragg, the capital city of Imperial Nalydya, a summit was soon held, officially marking the formation of the UMS.

Potential Greater Impact(s): The creation of the UMS marks the rise of another faction-entity that has the capability to operate anywhere in the Milky Way under a unified banner. Primarily extra-galactic nations, such as Imperial Nalydya (as a both a founder of the UMS and a core member of the Galactic Economic and Security Organisation) now have reason to operate within the Milky Way Galaxy, and it is likely the MWG will soon see vessels sailing under the banner of many more extra-galactic nations. The myriad ships of the Nalydian 8th Fleet "Seekers of Taial," recently deployed to the Sol System, are the first of such craft.

Description: The ruling government ruling over the Khand Sector in the name of Him on Earth, the God-Emperor of Mankind, is beginning to question the physical location of their territory within the cosmos. A deadly and all-encompassing warp storm that had once cut the sector off from the Imperium at large has fallen silent. Once more, the Khand Sector can reach outside its old borders. Though the denizens of the Khand Cluster do not know it, yet, they are no longer within the Imperium of Mankind and have been transported via the power of the warp to locales unknown. Scouts have begun traveling beyond the borders, bringing back vital information. A great war or conflict has not been felt within the Khand Cluster in generations, leaving it roiling with pent up energies seeking other avenues of escape.
Potential Greater Impact(s): The impact that these revelation could have upon the Khand Sector are far reaching and unforeseeable, but it is likely to be devastating. With contact lost with the Imperium of Mankind, many will choose to lash out, in fear at the least, and in a desire for power at the worst.

Description:
Archduke Faustus von Metternicht, Prime Minister of Valinon, announced that the imperial government will purchase three nearly completed O’Neil cylinder habitats from the Kiel Industrial Group (KIG), a Verniian hypercorp. The cylinder habitats are to be relocated to the Gyras system, a largely abandoned anchorage system in the Lanthine Lee, and used as a key component in a new refugee relief settlement being organised under the League of the Raumreich’s auspices. The Valinor government is seeking the support of the other major Raumreich powers and close allies in the Solarian Reaches. News media throughout the Raumreich are speculating that ZMI is being contracted to provide additional construction and shipping assets while the Valinor organise the League and various Raumreich militaries to provide infrastructure and security support.

While given an appropriate guise as an international aid mission, the new settlement is in keeping with Valinon’s stated objectives of keeping refugees from overwhelming the Lanthe Route’s infrastructure and encouraging displaced population resettlement away from volumes of space made more volatile by the Gata’ja, civil unrest along the Swift Winds Trade Route, general political collapse in the Beta and Gamma quadrants, and the rising occurrence of raiders, pirates, and other enemies of sentients. Formal governance of the settlement are not established, but it is unlikely the Valinor will be as permissive as the lax authorities in Liu Xiu or other refugee habitats even if they are moderated by other League member states.

Potential Greater Impact(s):
The developing settlement in the Gyras system represents possible the largest sanctuary organised exclusively for the purpose of handling the displace populations created by the Great Displacement. While either a Valinor or League administration is unlikely to grant the refugees sovereignty, they do offer a greater degree of security and support than many other possible places of asylum.

The project also represents the first major cooperative project of the League of the Raumreich since the Galactic Assembly. Areas of responsibility remain undefined, but it is unlikely the other League powers will allow Valinon unilateral control over their resources--if the Metternicht Government event intends to seek it. In keeping with the Second Proxima Centauri Accords, the League states favour approach that removes refugees from volatile space and other potential harm (even if it means openly admitting the possibility that returning home is unlikely).

Lanthe Route officials are developing projections and possible plans for contending with increased traffic along the terminals and junctions closest to the Gyras system. Valinor officials have cited they do not intend to establish a QE-gate connection to the system, as it is well within a light millenia radius of two established Route termini.

Description: The Tezrisi has begun yet another space crusade in the name of thier great God Pilhukhi. To go on a crusade you need to have a cause, and they have just that. They are trying to cleanse the known galaxy from "infidels". They are not known to have called on anyone of thier allies, but they are not known to have any allies at all. If we see it from the current perspective the Tezrisi haven't attacked any major trade routes (yet). They don't conquer the planets they invade, they slaughter and destroy the populance.

The Tezrisi will attack any bypassing vessels, civilian as military traveling too close to thier territory. As the Tezrisi claim to be a divine species, chosen by the gods, they show no mercy and (no respect) exterminate everything that comes in thier way, but to them who swear to serve the Great God of Pilhukhi. If they figure out that a colony has been reestablished after the crusade, they go out on next crusade and destroy it.

As this crusade has been approved by the government and the "Holy" Priest it gives the Tezrisi a whole new perspective. The crusade is also favored by the government because of it's placement in the Tezrisi time count, as it was this month many years ago that the Great God of Pilhukhi descended from the skies to learn the Tezrisians about his teachings. The Tezrisians are attacking with several fleets and crush colonies and smaller star-states standing in thier way like as if they were ants. The Tezrisians rush trough the nearest (populated) star systems with great speed and devour anything and everything, even the planet!

Because the Tezrisians claim every other species are inferior to themselves they go on these kind of crusades, and to exterminate every single infidel alive. The tactic they are using is slow, but efficient. Every crusades takes it's toll, and as the Tezrisians destroy more and more planets and systems the emptiness surrounding thier territory has increased. This allows the Tezrisians to travel long distances without needing to face an incredible amount of enemies, wich gets the Tezrisians more ready and triggered for battle.

Potential Greater Impact(s): The greater impact of this would of course be the increase of refugees, as the news spread fast of the crusade. The Tezrisians meet little resistance on the first worlds, although some are military outposts of different space-superpowers. Some galactic superpowers might choose to respond to this threat, but others know that the crusades doesn't last that long.

Most of the refugees are getting warned by the news, but for the civilians on the frontline it's already to late and they know that. The massive massacres on the frontlines are not to be counted, mostly beacause they can't be counted as the planet has been destroyed (take that record breakers). So far the Tezrisians haven't attacked any major trade route, but such an action would result in the destabilizing of the Galactic Economy. The rest of the galaxy is yet to respond to this.

Description: As the major trade ways have begun to sharply curtail refugee traffic and the Great Migration crisis has continued to escalate, it has finally begun to impact the GRA at home. Thousands upon thousands of refugee ships have flooded the Alexzonyian Starways. Leaders in Horizon Center have expressed their confidence in the nation's preparedness, both in the spacelanes and on the planet Jubilee Prime, which will serve as the primary staging area for the 750 million refugees that are expected to settle in the GRA in the intermediate term. Fleet Admiral Rebecca Hawthorn told an ANN reporter that "I have the utmost confidence that our men and women in uniform are up to the task of keeping Alexzonyians and refugees alike safe and in preventing the surge in piracy and strife that has been seen in other parts of the Gamma Quadrant."

However, reports have begun to trickle in that contradict the Mason Administration's persistent optimism. Unnamed sources in the Interstellar Transportation Advisory said that the Automatic Traffic Control System (ATCS) system that directs traffic along the Starways has been overwhelmed and unreliable, and that coordination with Starfleet has been inadequate to provide protection for all of the refugee groups in GRA space or massing at the borders. Further, reporting on the ground at Haven Center on Jubilee report shortages of just about everything, especially housing and public infrastructure. Mason's approval rating has taken a hit, dropping to 51% from 58% just a month ago. Politicians from the Alexzonya Progress! Party have condemned the GRA's policy of "storehousing" refugees in isolated areas at the same time that Alexzonya Nationalists demand that the borders be closed to foreign immigration.

Meanwhile, reports from the Military Affairs Advisory obtained via a Government Records and Archives Transparency Act (GRATA) request show that at least two GRA starfleet warships have been destroyed in action in the last two weeks, and that more casualties are expected to mount. Despite assurances from the administration, piracy indexes and alert levels across the GRA has increased dramatically. While the government has yet to issue a formal external travel advisory, civilian passenger and freight captains have been reported being ordered to stay in port unless accompanied by military escort.

Potential Greater Impact(s): In the short-term, the GRA's actions are likely to act as a release valve on some of the refugee tensions building in their section of Gamma, although how long the flow can continue is an open question. The GRA Starfleet, coming into the crises on the end of an uptick in strength and now undergoing a major reorganization, will have in a generation gone from a small, coastguard-like force to one of the region's major military actors. In the long-term, the expansion of GRA military and economic capabilities promises more stability in their region of Gamma, and an increasingly proactive Foreign Affairs Advisory indicates the the Galactic Community will likely continue to hear the name "Alexzonya" in the future. That assumes, of course, that the GRA is not overly weakened as the tidal wave of refugees and predators crashes into and through her borders; if the GRA cannot present a strong face to the international community, there is always the risk that she will return to isolationism until she can grow her strength once again.

Description:Following the completion of its latest Megastructure, a large Ringworld around their system's Star, the Dominion of Wudrye has elected to open itself up to trade and immigration from around the galaxy. Merchants and traders and encouraged to travel to the countries many star ports where vast new markets await them. In the meantime the AIs of the Dominion assure the general public of how safe their dominion is and they invite tourist and diplomats to also come experience the world Wudrye has to offer.

Description:
Ideally, this update would be written from the perspective of covering the Ambrosia Starliner bombing. In effect, evidence (Preliminary Investigative Report; should be assumed to have been disseminated to state-level actors and, from there, the truth about the incident revealed) seems to indicate that the terrorist organization known as "Wildfire" has likely spread outside of the Liu Xiu SEZ and may have taken root in particularly disaffected portions refugee/migrant populations. Given the (relatively) slow response many star-states have had, this could be a cause for concern; namely: it is possible that, in the future, this "Wildfire" (current direct relation to the original 'Wildfire' is unknown, though heavily suspected based on documents released by the Preliminary Investigative Report) may target star-states which have been slow to respond or can readily be speculated to only be involved as a matter of astropolitical gain.

As for a direct description: a large luxury starliner was destroyed in what is now quite evidently a terrorist attack along the heavily-trafficked Solarian Trade Corridor (with relations to such trade avenues as the Lanthe Route and others). Much like the attacks during the "Wildfire Season," suicide bombing is the apparent method. As of the release of this information to state-actors, it can be confirmed that approximately 3,400 casualties are likely - most fatalities, though some travelers are still missing (and will likely remain missing due to the nature of the bombing).
Potential Greater Impact(s):
Given the (relatively) slow response many star-states have taken in regards to the refugee/migrant crisis known as the "Great Displacement," it is likely there is a not-insignificant portion of displaced persons who are exceptionally disaffected and downright angry. Given the readiness at which some states have been willing to provide the displaced with arms, this also means it is probably that those disaffected and angry enough to take action are, in all likelihood, able to gain access - either due to star-state "self-defense charity" or through other surreptitious means - to weapons or other items they are able to utilize to exact their vengeance. Though, in the specific case of the Ambrosia bombing (much like those in the "Wildfire Season" of Liu Xiu), the suspected explosive used in the bombing heavily implies some degree of direct state-sanctioned support, though from whom is currently unknown.

There are several avenues this could have great impact, but the most telling is that it may grant star-states even further pause before they become willing to accept refugees/migrants (which, in turn, could directly contribute to the disaffection of those parties), much less give pause to a willingness to arm them. It could also, due to its relation to the "Wildfire Season," lead to rampant speculation that certain portions of the "Great Displacement" have been hijacked by parties willing to exploit this refugee/migrant disaffection for their own agenda(s). It may, also, supply pressure to those impacted by the original "Wildfire Season" to become more involved in the curtailment of radicalization amongst refugee/migrant populations and, in general, provide yet further cause for greater restrictions along trade routes which consider themselves a part of the Solarian Trade Corridor - much akin to how the United Star Empire of Valinon has imposed travel restrictions on the Lanthe.

The ultimate "Bad Ending™" for this hook (still in planning), is that Wildfire may have evolved beyond the organization seen in Liu Xiu. Such a case would likely be predicated on the creation of a cell-based structure within the organization, meaning that portions of those either directly linked with the party involved in the bombing of the Ambrosia or with the original "Wildfire" may have created a system for the organization where those who are "affiliated" need to do very little to actually get their goals accomplished. In other words: "Wildfire" may have adopted a structure where there is no distinct "master cell" or "head of the organization"; there may be a nebulous "core" preaching a given philosophy (a philosophy which is still only nebulously understood, but with the Ambrosia bombing seems to have taken a decidedly religious bend), but no central unit which is commanding the whole of the organization. Such an evolution would likely mean that refugees/migrants and others that are disaffected and disillusioned have been able to gain access to this philosophy (obviously from the "deep Galactinet") and then become radicalized and inspired to act because of it. This means it is possible that even in currently settled refugee/migrant populations, there is the potential for radicalization and a new "Wildfire Season" entirely.

Note: At the moment, I am submitting this as a "Tension Report" as it does not directly involve, by name, any nation which is not an NPC; it is my intent, in the coming months, for this to change and for subsequent submissions to the SotG to be made. For now, I feel (simply due to this being a plot-hook post that just happens to be linked to the Compendium) a Tension Report is adequate.

Description: The Organ of Defense has announced that the Perseid military, the Astrostratós, has begun to undertake one of its largest expansion and modernization programs since the Ouranos War. Several new military hardware, and certainly a lot more existing ones, are expected to be in service within the coming years. Reasons were given for this, particularly the rapid rise in piratical activity taking place in the Alpha Quadrant, especially in major trade lanes such as those in the Sivulon Trade Network, and the political fallout occurring after the Persexit.

The Archonate, as well as several Perseid politicians in support of this recent action, has assured the international community that there is nothing to worry about. Chief Spokesman for Archon Atalante Katsiavria (Archon of Xenia), Hypatos Savvaides, commented that it was "a natural response to the increasing instability brought about by piracy that may threaten any peaceful endeavors conducted by interstellar polities such as commerce or investment, especially when these are threats that have grown closer to home." He goes on to say this is in line with the Perseid Federation's commitment to help maintain the peace in the quadrant and promote security for it and its partners.

Some new military hardware that are expected to be in service within the next few years include the APO Artemisia [SBB-02], which is the second warship to be built in the Cataphract–class of super-dreadnoughts, newer ship classes that include the Chrysos–class carriers (12 planned), Ipeira–class cruisers and Sardzetakis–class destroyers, Hetairos and Argonaut models, firearms models, an updated version of the CATAPHRACT powered armor, and an improved Metaxas Drive that will enable better ship-to-ship communication and navigation even in phase space.

However, the Perseid government has ruled out the decision to arm refugees that are currently in raiding volumes. Savvaides stated that it would lower the international community's perceptions on the Omospondia and its foreign policy, and would most likely add to the piracy problem rather than solve it.

Potential Greater Impact(s): Many analysts are divided over the impact of this recent revitalization of the Perseid armed forces. Optimistic individuals think that it may raise investor confidence in the Omospondia, as the Sivulon Trade Network shall be more secure, the freedom of navigation for commercial and civilian vessels shall be ensured, and some economic growth will be experienced due to the demand for arms from within and without. Still others think that it will help the Astrostratos project its presence to more remote areas of Alpha, where piracy is thought to abound more, and be more capable in coming to the aid of its allies.

The more cynical and pessimistic have their own opinions as well. Some of them believe that this is nothing more than the Omospondia's attempt to expand their power projection to neighboring star-states, and for perhaps creating an interstellar empire akin to that of the larger powers. One of them has even commented that that was why the Astronautikon had powerful ships like the Cataphract and the Artemisia. Description: With the continuing development of the Great Migration, and the 'Great Game' with other star states in the Talosian Expanse, the R.u.B Union has seen its logistical infrastructure in the Expanse pressed to the breaking point. Drydock and even basic berthing space for megatonne and greater masse merchantmen and warships are in short supply, with only a limited number of slips available. While sub-megaton infrastructure is more plentiful, it is still extensively limited, espescially given the high demand for shipping capacity for the Rheinwacht Line and other Talosian Expanse colonies. New berths and graving docks have been planned above Eire, Delos, and Rourke's Bane, along with construction slips for medium sized vessels. In addition, deep space tugs and mobille construction vessels have been seen departing from both the Farlights and Talosian Frontier worlds. No doubt, a part of plans for the clearing of a transition lane between the worlds of the Expanse and the rest of the R.u.B Union.

Meanwhile, in the Farlights, Aninor-Tikal Heavy Industries has been contracted for the expansion of the Embermane Yards at Ulpool. The planned construction project, known as the Lanstaff Annex, would provide both multiple construction slips and drydocks large enough to accept and build the largest of voidbound ships. Rumors have been circulating that the planned expansion will be capable of constructing capital ships--a capacity that has previously been limited to worlds within the Cismuratian core regions (the Imperial Main, Enlisian Mark, and Nakabe). However, spokesmen for both the R.u.B Navy and Aninor-Tikal have denied such claims, and asserted that the planned expansions will have anything but civillian purposes. Regardless, when these expansions are complete, they will make Ulpool one of the largest shipyards and voidbound industrial centres in the whole of the R.u.B Union, and certainly the largest outside of the three core regions.

Potential Greater Impact(s): The currently planned and rumoured expansion would represent one of the largest infrastructure projects since the clearing of the Labyrinth. More importantly, it will go a long way towards reducing the current Imperialist logistical handicap in the Talosian Expanse. Once complete, the Talosian Expanse will be more tightly bound to the rest of the Imperial & Federal Union than evere before, anchored by the massive shipyards and naval bases at Ulpool, with the planned transition lane as the chain. With the easing of logistical issues that have hamstrung Imperialist interests in the Expanse, no doubt the R.u.B Union hopes to drive its colonial expansion into the region ever faster--and support a large enough fleet to hold it.

Description: The Empire has continued its program of training, supplying, and arming various groups of refugees. However, with reports of increased piracy pouring in, the requirements these refugees must meet to recieve this support have been increased drastically in an effort to prevent dangerous parties from gaining access to military training, supplies, ships, and arms. Several pirates and would be raiders have already been caught attempting to infiltrate the program and were consequently executed in a highly public manner as a message to others who would attempt to do the same.

Meanwhile, news sources within the Empire have reported a large mobilization of fleet assets following reports of continued attacks on refugee groups; in particular, reports have come in of attacks specifically targeting human refugees in Gamma by a number of Q-ships. While the exact details of the mobilization remain unknown at this time, rumors coming out of the military indicate the possibility of a plan of increased patrols along various trade lanes in an attempt to catch these ships in the act and either capture or destroy them. It is also hoped that the increased military presence will work to protect the different refugee groups as they travel throughout the Gamma and Delta quadrants.

Potential Greater Impact(s): As a result of the continuance of this program, more and more refugees will have the ability to defend themselves from those who would prey upon them, and many groups of refugees; especially those within the Gamma quadrant will become a much more difficult target for attacks as their access to surplus military vessels from the Empire continues to increase. Additionally, the mobilization of a currently unknown number of ships is likely to increase tensions between the Empire and other powers within the Gamma and Delta quadrants as they attempt to determine the exact purpose behind what is, for the Interstellar Empire, a highly uncharacteristic response...

Description: A joint fleet of the newly formed LOTUS pact moves in on the war torn capital of the SCU to defeat the Hardliner military force that has added a third faction to the ongoing civil war. Hundreds of ships now square up for one of the largest battles yet seen in Union space with potentially billions of lives at stake. Already the battle of Tauris has claimed more than 80 million lives, with analysts predicting more than a million deaths in the coming confrontation. The hell that has swallowed Tauris is set to escalate exponentially in the coming days as the fate of the Union is decided in pitched battle.
Potential Greater Impact(s): A loss for LOTUS and the civilian government of the Union could bring a hyper-militaristic government onto the galactic stage. Regardless of who wins, millions will be left homeless or dead and further inflame the massive refugee crisis gripping the galaxy. Should the battle carry on for longer than expected the capital of a up and coming star state may be rendered uninhabitable.

Description: The [NPC] Consortium Emporio based in the [NPC] Pentachae System has published reports into the loss of merchant and civilian shipping in the area indicated on the map - invariably without a trace. It hasn't been every - or even most of the traffic which has passed through that area of space, and is primarily those which aimed to stop off in that smaller area rather than those which were to travel through it at faster than light speeds. There are as of yet no real indicators as to what is causing this disruption to traffic in the area, and so far the small explorator groups of PMC mercenaries hired to identify and reconnoitre the threat have not produced reports.
Potential Greater Impact(s): Unknown ICly - it could be a herald of a major threat or destabilising influence in the region, or it could simply be an unanticipated environmental hazard which will recede in the near future. OOCly it is the first mention of Ky'Telstein having any noticeable effect on the galaxy at large, as I transition from non-RP'd back story to first encounter RPs.
