Seasons Turn OOC Thread (Please TG Entry)

PostPosted: Thu Feb 26, 2015 12:16 pm
by New Edom
The Seasons Turn is about how following the death of President of the Council Perrin Pahath-Moab and all his cabinet, the country begins to crack at the seams once more as what was feared would happen if the brilliant president met an untimely death begins to happen. As elections begin, different political factions attempt to influence their preferred outcomes.

There are currently two rebellions going on: one is known as the Theocratic Republic and is led by the Prophet of the End Times Church, Samuel Under, which controls the provinces of Teman and Lookinghaven, and contests control of the province of Bara. They are trying to establish control over the entire country.

The other is led by the Feminist Collective Party which dominates the islands of Gloria Regis and seeks independence.

IC Thread

There are four main disputes going on. One is a constitutional crisis between Queen Mara the First, who is the Head of State and her sister, Princess Jocasta, the Heir.

Note: main combat actions currently taking place Here with accompanying map.

Factions:

Leaders: Head of State: Queen Mara the First

Goals, Purposes: To establish general public order, hold national elections, encourage the prosperity and good of the nation under the Monarchy. This faction has confidence in the Regent's ability to lead the country, and that Princess Jocasta will become a stronger leader in time.

The ETC/Free Congress are considered to be dangerous rabble rousers who need to back down from their violent activism and simply stand for elections, the Theocratic Republic being an unacceptable proposal.

The rebels in Gloria Regis may likely be negotiated with if possible through allied nations to achieve a peaceful solution.

Goals/Purpose: Establish pious religious dominion, theocratic government. End the sinful wearing of clothing for purposes of pleasure or false modesty, destroy usury and the spirit of mammon that rules the nation, all national, provincial, civic and military leaders to repent and submit. The Theocratic Republic must be restored. Sarah Carmel is the rightful leader of the country, the Monarch should have reduced responsibilities with the President of the Theocratic Republic as the main governing force.
Means: Strikes guised as prayer and fasting, religious demagoguery.
Major Locations: Nass, Teman; Harbourtown, Bara Province; Sterry, Haran Province; Hillel, Lookinghaven Province; Westmark, Lookinghaven Province; Lookinghaven, Lookinghaven Province. Rising movement in Peregrino. Governor Zeror and a number of people very sympathetic.
Signature Moment: Revelation of the Prophet Under
Military Forces:
Lookinghaven Motorized Infantry Division
The Teman Motorized Infantry Division
Tyrannis Naval Air Station (tactical air units, drone squadron, marine infantry security detail, weather and radar station, AWACS, electronic warfare capabilities, maritime air patrols, naval patrol ships) (destroyed)

End Times Church militias in controlled locations are generally cooperating. These are lightly armed with some heavy weapons and lightly armoured vehicles, some aviation and light artillery. Estimated nearly 100,000 of these. However it should be noted that only about 20,000 of these are actually trained soldiers or veterans; most of this 100,000 are like local police or paramilitary groups.
- City of Harbourtown Militia Division (all captured, surrendered or killed)
- Eastern Brigade (2,500 light motorized infantry)
- Northern Brigade (1,500 light motorized infantry)
- Southern Brigade (2,000 light infantry)
- Western Brigade (3,000 light infantry)

Also a conspiracy known as the Futurist Conspiracy may be part of this.

Resources: through strikes, control over major industrial centers in Sterry, Harbourtown and Nass, including several power distribution centers,1 ethanol factory, 1 aluminum refinement factory, 1 iron foundry, 3 tobacco factories, 1 pharmaceuticals production facility, 1 electronics manufacturing plant, 4 plastics manufacturing plants, 1 nylon manufacturing plant, 2 oil refineries

Goals and Purpose: Establish the Independence of Gloria Regis. It is believed that the islands have the right to secede due to a referendum in 2013 which established that a majority of citizens wish to do so peacefully. They would be willing to continue commerce with the mainland and prefer a negotiated peace, however insurgency by the End Times Church and military force used to force them to stay part of the Allied States as well as crush feminist ideals is feared.
Signature Moment: The Mutiny; The Declaration
Forces:
Carrier Group Teman
1 James Lawrence Class Carrier
2 x Tuulikki Class Cruiser
3 x Hatchet Class Frigate
2 x Casso Class Frigate
2 x Pijil Class Arsenal Ships
2 x Divins Class SSKs
2 x Duenna Class Replenishment Ships

Resources: Control of major fisheries, including shrimp and other shellfish; ethanol distillery, food processing factories.
Foreign Supporters:
The Republic of Adiron (offer of mediation)
The Shrailleeni Empire (offer of mediation, NGOs active)
The Ali Zebu Union (NGOs active)
Anathaat (NGOs active, secret intelligence operatives in province)
Nerotysia (military and diplomatic support offered)
Jedoria (humanitarian aid and diplomatic support)

The following military units have stated that they will not support any faction save if that faction is directly opposing a foreign invasion force, for the sake of the general protection of the nation and to insist that elections be held. This is taken to be blasphemy by the ETC radicals, neutrality by the Feminist Collective and Queen Mara's faction, and as possible mutiny and treason by Jocasta's faction (to be dealt with later). A number of these units have agreed to serve under General Jonathan Unwerth's command for the purposes of defense against Deadora or other foreign military incursions only.

It includes:
The 2nd New Edomite Army (in Damoclea, facing insurgency; includes the Damoclean I and II Corps)
New Edomite Military Assistance Command Hutanjia
New Edomite Base in Callaban
New Edomite peacekeeping forces in C. Acheron and Azurlavai
New Edomite base in Peregrino
New Edomite Expeditionary Force in Dengali

New Edomite financial institutions and major corporations are struggling to avoid having to declare their interests in the constitutional struggle ahead.

The Apostolic Church of New Edom, the Baptist Convention of New Edom, the Conservative End Times Church, the Haranese Christian Church, and the Presbyterian Synod of New Edom are deeply divided due to the strength of the Edenist movement, but the leadership thus far is maintaining neutrality.
It should be noted that at least 3/4 of the judiciary in all provinces is controlled by this group.

Resources: The Directorate of Oil and Resources, the National Mining Corporation, the foreign subsidiaries of many service companies, Griffon Airlines, the National Edomite Rail Directorate, Arcanum Armaments Corporation, Mike's Monkey House, Ikram Quality Cigarettes; oilfields drilled by Globexian Resources, Ohsun Petroleum, Pegasus Petroleum Company (which are in Haran Province and in territorial waters of Bara Province. Pipelines in Haran are protected by private security from Ohsung Petroleum's own force.

Situation Thus Far

Note: Funeral of Pahath-Moab over; funeral truce over. Monarchist factions reconcile with Regency under Prince Elijah Shalmaneser and Princess Jocasta as acting Head of State. Theocratic Republic formed in the industrial heart of New Edom (western Bara Province, Teman Province) and in Lookinghaven Province; Gloria Regis Province seeks independence.

National Elections
Dominated by violent activism and militia reprisals against hated groups in Harbourtown and Nass; prevention of voter registration in the cities of Hillel, Lookinghaven, Westmark and Sixington, though the latter is more restrained due to deliberate policy by the City Militia.

Bara Province
1. City of Harbourtown, the provincial capital, subject to riots and attacks against political rivals of the End Times Church dominated Free Congress Party.

2. Military buildup by the Monarchist IX Army Corps results in attacks by Free Congress Militias.

3. Major actions around the town of Salcah near Harbourtown.

Gloria Regis
1. Feminist Collective Party negotiating independence.
2. Militias manage to control political violence.
3. Tense standoff between forces loyal to the Monarchy and loyal to the Feminist Collective Party and Marxists.

Cornellian Peacekeeping Organization
1. Offer of mediation and peacekeeping presented by the Allamunnic States delegate.
2. Offer generally accepted, terms of mediation being negotiated.
3. Peacekeeping forces and mediation teams as well as observers being put together, largely made up of Adiran, Allamunnic, Spartianus and Noviteran contingents.

I'm not sure how you are judging support in my case given the admittedly nebulous nature of Shrailleeni politics, but we did send a letter supporting all of the Monarchists for Queen Mara's goals and proposition.

Lam, you and I should team up to form a coalition of neutrals. We could work together to work out a peaceful resolution.

That could be entirely possible.

I would be keen to get involved with this, particularly in a peacekeeping/evacuee handling centre role.

Hutanjia backs the faction of the heir presumptive, Jocasta. More out of respect and reverence for General Unwerth than anything else, because if they took more time to analyze the situation, they might back Queen Mara.

Nihon will rather support queen Mara and her monarchists, who are seen as closest to Nihonese political believes.

Tag for easy access.

Ghant is a mess on this issue as per this post: viewtopic.php?f=5&t=331343&p=23666300#p23664908

TLDR is that Empress Sophia / Parliament / Elected Government support Mara,

While the Jauneketxea / Sophia's father and brothers / "Albert of the Four Kingdoms" support Jocasta.

So it could be getting ugly. Right now, Ghant is like a fat cow...there is so much at steak...

So sad, when sisters can't get along. Remember when we thought that Jocasta was the good girl and Mara the troublemaker?

Shalum is in an odd position. My people in New Edom are sympathetic to Jocasta due to the fact that my people have ties with her own. Meanwhile, the Shalumite government is pro-Mara.

Edit: Shalum is going to take a neutral stance, and support neither Jocasta or Mara, due to the fact that the Shalumite marine base is in the heart of Jocasta controlled territory, and would therefore be put at risk if a civil war was to break out between the two factions.

As long as the Kingdom's government continues to receive no response from either Monarchist faction, Cacerta will remain neutral unless obligated to intercede on behalf of BSA allies.

Per recent events, the Allamunnic government is going to officially voice its support for Queen Mara, believing that she and her faction are the best hope for stability and peace in New Edom.

With that said, it will remain to be seen if the Allamunnic government commits to any form of support other than simple diplomatic recognition of Mara's faction as the legitimate government.

Back when there was seemingly no dispute and Jocasta was in her "honeymoon" phase, Valerian offered his support. However, he wasn't counting on her doing some of the shit that she did. At this point, he's likely to deal with the status quo while contacting Mara and her camp to see what the real score is....if Mara truly gives up and Jocasta doesn't do any major dealbreakers, perhaps she can get recognition, but Valerian is going to play this one very close to the vest until he is sure of the actual situation. That being said, he's not too comfortable with her latest moves, to put it mildly. His other big concern is likely to be Gloria Regis, since he's convinced that the Communist/Feminist regime abused its power before and will likely do so again.

Sick as a dog, I am. May be sporadically here.

I am up to date on reading though, so there's that.

Sorry for throwing my hat into this ring so late, I was trying to decide who to back. Pencil me in for supporting the End of Times radicals. Financial and arms support for now, not going to send any troops in just yet. If you want, you can say a few of them received training in the BC too.

NEW UPDATE! Each faction except the neutrals now has a 'signature moment' link giving a sense of what their public declarations are like, what they are about in IC terms. Save you some sifting through and reading for the newcomers.
