A Meeting in Giozzo (Closed)

Postby Paglio » Tue Jan 27, 2015 9:55 pm

Giozzo, Paglio - 10:00 AM

It was a beautiful sunny day in the capital. Prime Minister Andrèas Napolitano was looking out his window, admiring the stunning metropolis of Giozzo, the largest city in Paglio - and a great historic site. To the left of the Palazzo Presidenziale was a great historic cathedral, built in medival times by the Catholic Church. To his right was great skyscrapers overlooking the great city. And far off in the distance was the Smoyan border, a border that spanned many kilometers.

He went back to his seat in the meeting room, waiting for the other leaders - who had already arrived at the palace - to walk on in as the guardiani della repubblica escorted the leaders inside. He took one last look at his papers, all listing topics of discussion. This day marked a significant day in Pagliano history, a day that would bring the nations of Lispanola, Smoya, and Paglio closer together.

Paglio is Italian, not Mexican. Oh, and it is pronounced "Pah-li-oh", like how it is pronounced in Italian.

Mãno Paule, President of Lispanola, thanked the Paglian guards for escorting him up. "Grazie," he told the guards in the best Italian accent he could do. He knocked on the door of the meeting room, preparing for a deep conversation with the foreign leaders.

He adjusted his tie quickly and quickly reviewed everything he was planning to talk about in the meeting in his head...all was very important to him. Most importantly, however, he hoped to find that his allies would help him fight the drug cartels throughout Lispanola which were not only harming the people of Lispanola, but harming Smoyan and Paglian relations since of the illegal drug trade across both borders.

One Hour Before

Air 99, the presidential jet, had finally touched ground in Paglio. As the engines rolled to a stop, President Raffaello Marzio got up and stretched from his mini nap. It was only an hour flight from Dronden - displaying the air might of Smoyan aircraft, which were very up to date, fast, and safe.

"Mia patria!" he exclaimed as he got off the gangway. He was very excited to be in Paglio - he got to better relations between two neighboring countries and he got to see his family in Paglio. Marzio was very deeply rooted in his Italian ancestry, ever since his distant family moved to Smoya from Paglio in 1964, just a year after the War for Independence began.

He got in his private limo and drove off to the site of the meeting.

Palazzo Presidenziale

"Grazie mille," he told the guards who escorted him. He knocked on the door and greeted Mãno Paule, president of Lispanola. "Hello!" he said. "It is great to have you hear. I have high hopes for our cooperation." Marzio said with a smile.

President Mãnu Paule smiled and shook President Marzio's hand. "It is a pleasure to meet you. I admire you and your nation greatly. I also am glad for this meeting. I have many topics of discussion." Paule said and smiled again.

"Yes, it is a pleasure. Have you ever been to Paglio? Also I have some ideas to better our relationship."

PM Napolitano walked to the door after hearing chatter, and grinned at the site of the foreign leaders. "Welcome, Mr. Paule and Mr. Marzio to Paglio! It is a great honor to host our meeting. Thank you both for coming," he said, motioning for them to walk inside as he closed the door. "May we get you something to drink or eat? How are you all? I hope your flights went well."

"Thank you for inviting me, sir." Paule walked in and sat down at his seat. "May I have a glass of water?" Paule asked. "If not that is okay."

"Will be done. E parla italiano anche, signore Marzio?" asked Napolitano, smiling. "Penso che la sua famiglia è italiana?"

Then he quickly said, "Okay. Once again, I welcome you all to Giozzo for this meeting. I believe se shall begin with the economic cooperation between our countries."

"Agreed," declared Marzio. "I have some ideas, if I am allowed to start."

"What I propose is a three way economic treaty. This treaty would be very powerful, since it is made just between us and not between a bunch of nations, and therefore we can work more closely. I believe an economic treaty should discuss economic travel between the two countries and articles about free trade, like lowering tariffs. I also plan to make an article so that traveling across our borders would be easier for tourists, corporations, and other parties."

"I agree with your base," replied Napolitano. "I strongly agree in lowering tariffs, but we must discuss which tariffs. I think it should be a vital part of our treaty banning taxing imports from our three nations. Without that, our economies will grow stronger. Our people crossing the border may also come across smoothly for economic conditions."

"I also agree. Our government is under the process of increasing border security, however, due to the flow of illegal drugs. I think an operation might have to be done to seriously end the crime between our borders and as well increasing economic trade across the borders. Tariffs, however, must be abolished. We cannot have tariffs at all, which only prevent prosperity."
