Captain J. Kulen, Lead Investigator
Customs Department, Republic of Setulan
Mercantile Division
[excerpt, Part 1: Financial]
SUBJECT currently has six loans to his name, all in excess of two hundred million Republican Credits. The largest (and first) of these loans is from the Republic itself via the Merchant Loans Office. It seems that SUBJECT had a childhood friendship with one of the managers at the office, who convinced the board that SUBJECT was a good investment. He currently owes the Republic seven hundred fifty million Republican credits. Though technically legal, SUBJECT'S friend is now under investigation for fraud...
...SUBJECT has also secured loans from the Kitsune Empire to the sum of four hundred million credits through their own Loans Offices...we are currently cooperating with Imperial law enforcement to determine if illegal action was taken in this regard, since generally SUBJECT would not have qualified for this loan due to his outstanding debt to the Republic...
...despite his massive debt, SUBJECT has managed to prevent himself from defaulting on any of his loans and consistently manages to pay off his interest, though frequently late...
[Excerpt, Part 2: Assets]
SUBJECT currently commands a fleet of four Rachellian-class Freighters (See App. 1 for details on vessels). Three are currently spaceworthy and trawling trade lanes...it should be noted that none of the vessels received better than a C- on their safety inspection...[largely] due to modifications made post-purchase.
...SUBJECT has four homes, in Xiscapia, the SSA, Alversia, and the Republic. We are currently cooperating with local law enforcement to determine if there was any foul play in the acquisition of these homes...
SUBJECT has rented dock space in the SSA but does not seem to have followed through on payments. The G-Police are currently searching for the lease agreement but have so far been unsuccessful...
[Excerpt, Part 3: Employees]
SUBJECT uses his sons to commandeer his vessels. The quality of the company's crews is generally abysmal. SUBJECT leaves crew selection to his captains [sons], who generally seem to have the attitude that less is more. We have reason to believe that many of the ships run with fewer crew than is required by insurance to safely operate the vessels, but they always dock in AXIS space with enough...
SUBJECT claims that his ships are proper learning environments for new crew where they can receive Master Merchant certification, but no such certification requests have been filed by members of Mari and Sons...testimony from WITNESS 1, WITNESS 4, and WITNESS 14 run in direct counterpoint to claims made by SUBJECT.
...due to the decentralization of employee hirings, it is unknown if proper background checks are performed on new crew. WITNESS 3 stated that there were fugitives from AXIS space on their vessel, and WITNESS 2, WITNESS 11, and WITNESS 8 voiced suspicions of the same...
[Excerpt, Part 4: Activities]
SUBJECT prefers to run his ships in the Milky Way Galaxy and avoid AXIS space entirely when he can. Ships from Mari and Sons are seen in Necrian, Karagian, Huerdaen, and Vipran space more frequently than they are seen at their nominal home station in the SSA.
Due to treaties with the nations with whom SUBJECT does business, requests for information on cargo has been stalled...we have reason to believe that [Imperial] law enforcement is currently investigating potential violations as well...
[Personal Note]
Colonel,
This guy is playing a dangerous game. He's treading water in a shark tank, but somehow he hasn't been eaten yet. Between his loans and his crew, I'm shocked nobody has died yet (that we know of). The quality of his vessels is so bad that it's only a matter of time before disaster strikes. He newest ship saw the last Emperor fall. He's replaced their Blink drives with Sen foldspace tech, but I have serious doubts as to the ability of his crew to run it properly.
We'll bag the son of a bitch - I just hope it's before something horrible happens.
Regards,
Captain Kulen

Welcome welcome welcome...to the THUNDER DOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOMEEEEEEE!
Everybody signing up for this already has a general idea of what's going on here. Captain Kulen up there turns out to be right, and something absolutely terrible happens. Welcome to horror survival in the infinite inky blackness of the abyss, baby.
Editing this in its own little section for clarity's sake. If you are interested and I haven't already spoken to you, TG me with examples of previous character RP.
Everybody involved in this gets anywhere from 2-4 characters. Don't get attached. Your characters WILL die. Don't come into this thinking you're going to win, or hell, even survive. Be ready for your characters to die horrible, terrible deaths for little reason. Shit happens. I reserve the right to kill your character with no mercy or warning. I promise it will be suitably hilarious if I do, though, and most of the time I'm just gonna throw them into a terrible situation and let you kill them for me.
IF YOU DON'T FUCKING POST, YOU WILL DIE.
I'm not trying to make this some long drawn out thing. I have enough of those going as it is. Post in a remotely timely manner, or your characters become corpsified.
The nice little blurb I have above should tip you off to the kinds of characters I'm looking for in this RP. If you bring a former special forces death commando of murder, they damn well better have a serious drinking problem or something. Bring me your scum, your n00bs, your criminals. It'll be a
Have an application, you filthy animals.

Job
Equipment
Brief Description
Most of that is fairly self explanatory. Keep your descriptions fairly brief, please. Under equipment, make sure you include anything special. Don't go crazy. Note that Setulan merchants carry side arms at all times as per most ship's codes, and even the shitty vessel you're on has that rule in place. Heavier stuff is (supposed to be) kept in the Arms Room.
Jobs on a Setulan merchant ship include, but are not limited to...
Laborers
Engineers
Security
Cargo Masters
Bridge Crew (note: include a specialty please, be it helm, sensors, whatever)
The ships officer's are also up for grabs on a first come, first serve basis. They are as follows:
Chief Medical Officer
Crew Chief
If any of those roles are not taken, they'll be filled by NPCs who you can look forward to killing at a later date.
